One more thing during reset
The system is unable to boot automatically because there
are no bootable files to boot.
Looks like no IOS on it.I would also like to ask how to put IOS back into the AP
Any idea how to recover it ?

  • The maximum cable distance from antenna and Cisco 1200 series.

    Hello all!
I?m using the Cisco 1200 Access Points Series with two 2.2dBi dipole antennas. I have read the installation guide for that Access Points and that can be installed with the antennas in separated places. But this guide didn't mention the maximum distance for the antenna cable...
Somebody here can say me this maximum distance?
Had somebody here made this kind of antenna installation with cable?
    Thanks.

Oh Yeah!, I absolutely agree on "shorter is way better"
Given any chance / choice at all, I'd try to keep the cable length under 25 feet. If the option is available for a NEMA cabinet to get the cable shorter, I'd probably do that too.
Since it's good practice to use a chunk of fiber optic cabling between the external stuff and the inside network, you may as well put the AP as close to the antennas as possible and convert the copper to fiber for the long haul.
You get some lightning protection (at least you won't smoke all of the systems sitting on your LAN) and better signal strength (and probably signal quality too).
For something like a 200' run, if forced to do it (we're talking "gun to the head" forced here), I'd probably be looking for something like Andrew LDF4-50 1/2" Heliax with probably a weeeeee bit O' amp tossed in for good measure.
That would also imply that the system would also have to be re-certified, because of the non-standard components ...and a pretty good budget to boot.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
    FWIW

  • Cisco 1200 Access Points as Bridges - Won't work

I could use some help. I have a pair of Cisco 1200 AP's that I'm trying to use as bridges.
I have selected one as a Root Bridge, the other as Non-Root. The non-root shows the wireless interface down and the log reveals 'no association'.
I have verified NO security, identical SSID's, broadcast SSID, no encryption, no WEP, they are sitting 10 feet apart, same channels, etc. etc.
Can a 1200 access point serve as a bridge?

I went to Security > SSID Manager and selected the only SSID as the infrastructure SSID and it did nothing. If there is another place to toggle 'Infrastructure SSID' on and off other than by assigning one, I'm unaware of it.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Cisco 1200 on long distances

I need to know (if anyone have in practice). What will be maximal distance in ideal conditions with Cisco 1200 series AP for outdoor point-to-point connections in WGB mode with high gain directional antennas ?

Console into the AP and post the log. This will help understand the issue better.

  • Cisco 1200 as bridge

    Hi everyone
I am about to use Cisco 1200 series AP as bridge , but I have seen and I have compared it with Cisco 1300 and 1400 outdoor models , and I saw that 1200 is mainly for indoor (LW).
    Now the question is :
    1. Can I use it as outdoor bridge for Point to Point linking ?
    2. What will be maximum distance with reflector grid antennas (and patch antennas)?
    3. If in practice , is it stabile ?
    Thank you

Again I stress I can only go by what I'd install in the UK so it may not be applicable wherever you are! Also, I always try and avoid mixing vendors equipment if at all possible so I would use either one of two Cisco antenna, I've also listed antenna cables, use the shortest you can:
AIR-ANT1949 Yagi mast mount 2MB at 29.49 km.
    AIR-ANT3338 Solid Dish 2MB at 42.62 km.
    AIR-CAB020LL-R 6m antenna cable 1.3db loss
    AIR-CAB050LL-R 15m antenna cable 3.4db loss
    AIR-CAB100ULL-R 30m antenna cable 4.4db loss
Ranges and throughputs are Cisco's, you may find the biggest problem is clear line of sight over that sort of distance.
For more information check the antenna guide here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps469/products_data_sheet09186a008022b11b.html
You can have this one free of charge : ) just don't forget to award points if it's of use : )

  • Cisco 1200 empty .csv file

I have flashed the cisco 1200 ap using the upgrade utility. Everything checks out ok but the .csv file is empty.Did i miss something here?
    Details
    Model:AIR-AP1232AG-S-K9
    Autonomous IOS:12.3(7)JA2
    Lightweight IOS:
    c1200-rcvk9w8-tar.123-11JX1

The MIC is a Machine Installed Certificate. The AP has the certificate already installed, there is no need to
generate a self-signed certificate. That is why the .csv file is empty. You will not have to put any certificate information on WLC/WCS for this AP.

  • Increasing CIsco 1200 AP Throughput

    Hi,
I'm having a problem achieving good performance on a Cisco 1200 AP [802.11b] which supports about 15 clients. It's been configured to allow only 11MB & 5.5MB access with static WEP & w/o SSID broadcast. But somehow the performance is way below satisfactory & it took about half an hour just to copy a 500MB file between 2 computers. Is there anything that i may had missed out during the configuration? Please advice, Thanks!

Check the 1200 error counters (under radio interface Detailed stats) and see if CRC errors are increasing in huge amounts. If yes, this could be a cause for the slow down. You might be experiencing interference. Did you do a site survey (including scanning the surrounding for interference) before installing the AP.

  • Wireless client can't get an IP but can associate with the Cisco 1200 AP

    Hi!
    Good day to everyone.
I guess i need some help with regards to a problem of mine.
I have a Cisco 1200 AP with IOS 12.3(2), the client is MS Win XP on an IBM notebook with an onboard intel wireless client.
the RADIUS server is a MS IAS and it is integrated with MS Active directory where I authenticate.
somehow the client can associate with WPA and TKIP however it won't receive an IP add after logging into domain. I have tried clearing out the TKIP and WPA and leave authentication open and guest mode on the config. this would be successful.
I also want to ask what does the "list_name" on the methods of authentication on EAP? Is this a RADIUS server's name or the AD server's name?
Attach is the configuration I made on the AP.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

I have this same issue, it seems the AP is not supplying the group key needed to complete the authentiction...so your being authenticated, but not fully with the AP. I have a sniffer of a good connect and a bad one, its got something to do with the key (if you look at the link status, you will probably see something like this beside security
    TKIP, WEP, Key Absent
The Key Absent portion is bad. Its whats stopping us from getting fully "connected" with our AP's, but i have yet to figure out why.

I might have an answer for you... or I might be COMPLETELY WRONG
If it isn't just a "failed" upgrade, as in you've tried the upgrade again and it still is happening.... I was reading something about older APs not have a Manufacturing-installed certificate (MIC) and these AP's generating a Self-signed Certificate (SSC).
The error you have is referring to SSC so I'm writing this as if you have not had to previously do this step for your other conversions.
I believe a couple of things needs to happen for SSC AP's.
    1) Must enable controller to accept self-signed certificated.
Security > AAA > AP Polices > Accept Self Signed Certificate > Apply
    2) Add AP to Authorization List in Security > AAA > AP Polices > Add AP To Authrorization List
Enter MAC Address of the AP
    Certificate type = SSC
SHA1 Key Hash can be obtained from the controller by issueing this command:
    "debug pm pki enable"
Look for the line: sshpmGetIssuerHandles: SSC Key Hash is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I believe you use the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX as the SHA1 Key Hash.
    3) If required, you may also need to add the AP MAC Address in the Mac-Filter: Security > AAA > MAC Filtering > New >
Hopefully its either a reload of the software or this SSC thing that fixes the problem....

  • Cisco RV120W crashed several times a day

    Hello,
we are using the Cisco RV120W for our little network. The latest firmware (1.0.4.10) is installed!
But the router crashes about 6-10 times a day and have to be restarted. The Web Interface is also not available then.
It is configured as the subnet 192.168.12.0/24
The WAN connection is a static ip to a public subnet.
VLAN 1 is the default LAN (see above).
DHCP is enabled in that network and DNS proxy is disabled.
VLAN 2 is 192.168.10.12 whitout DHCP.
Ethernet Port 1 is configured as VLAN 2 for another subnet (192.168.10.0/24 from another router).
The other ports an WLAN are using VLAN 1 (192.168.12.0/24).
WLAN authentication is enabled (SSID 1) with a WPA2-PSK password.
After i reboot the router the logs are empty and i just can see the logs while the router is running.
after about 30 minutes i copied the logs from the router:
    These are the "error" logs:

This sounds like you may have a faulty unit.  I'd recommend opening a case with STAC to troubleshoot or RMA the device.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Have a wonderful day!

  • Cisco E4200v2 crashes regularly, especially during streaming videos from websites

    Hi,
I have a new Cisco E4200v2 which is regularly crashing since day1. I tried many forum suggestions and posts however no luck please help.
    Home setup
    1 desktop wired
1 laptop connected via 2.4 GHZ wifi
2 IP security camera connected via wifi
1 Android Phone (HTC Desire HD) and this is used by my dad to stream news videos, 2.4 GHz
1 Android phone, connected via 5 GHZ  (occasionally)
1 iPhone 4, connected via 2.4 GHZ (occasionally)
1 Android media player, connected via 2.4 GHZ, steams HD videos from desktop
1 VOIP device however it is not active always (used 1-2 hrs a day)
Most of the time crashes while video streaming.
    Router settings
Both 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz are WPA2, 20 HZ only
    Firmware Version: 2.0.37
    I have tried following
Changed MTU to 1480.. if I change MTU to 1400 nothing works so I have realised 1480 is efficient for my network, actually 1500 is also works however I read on the forums that lowering the MTU gives stability
    Changed 2.4 ghz Wi-Fi channel to 11
Changed 2.4 ghz to G only
    30-30 reset
Please help. It hurts to spend on a new router and it does not perform.
    Regards
    Nachi

  • Cisco 1200 Access Points

    Hi,
Is it possible to setup an Aironet 1200 in Root AP mode, where it does DHCP for the Wifi clients and NAT. Where the wired interface is equipped with a public IP?

If your 1200 has two radios, yes.  Otherwise it's either a root or an AP but can't be both (per radio).

  • Cisco WAP321 crashes entire network

I'm trying to add a Cisco Access Point (WAP321) to our network and every time I plug it into the network, the internet goes down. The Access Point works, but the rest of the network loses internet access. DHCP is disabled and I have manually set an I.P. address and this issue still occurs, so I've ruled out a possible I.P. address conflict. What could be causing this? The network consists of a modem going into a Cisco 5505 Firewall and then to a Cisco switch.

My name Eric Moyers. I am an Engineer in the Small Business Support Center.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.
What IP scheme are you using on your network? Are you pre-configuring anything else on the the AP before you add it to the network? Can you try to by-pass the switch to see if you get a different result?
If this does not improve your issue, please call our support center and open a case so that one of our engineers can work directly with you.

  • Make cisco 1200 assign a static IP not DHCP

I have given the airport an IP address and installed the card in my laptop. I can connect as far as the airport and it shows me as being connected, but the IP address it assigns isn't configured to go through our router.
Unfortunately the router is managed by another a company and I am unable to change the routing table....so is there anyway you can set the airport to assign a static IP or assign from a range of IP's.
I've looked through the manuals and on this site without any sucess, any help anyone can give me would be great.
    Regards
    Rob

Just to add some more....Since cisco's AP can't work like/as DHCP server, it can't assign static/dynamic ip addresses to the wireless clients..So in your case you need fix the router to do routing for your ip address or fix it accordingly..Tejal
