I have a question regarding the power consumption of a Cisco 2951 router with an AC-PoE power supply (without PoE boost).
In fact in the table (n°7) of the Cisco 2900 Series ISR (G2) datasheet, that sum up the power consumption data for Cisco 2900 series routers there is the line : "Maximum Power with PoE Power Supply (Platform Only) (Watts)", and I would like to know what is exactly the meaning about the mention "Platform Only".

This is the maximum power that is consumed exclusively by the router from the PoE PS (Power Supply). The power capacity that the PoE PS gives to other PoE devices (IP Phones, Cameras, APs, etc) is specified in the line below "Maximum End-Point PoE Power Available from PoE Power Supply (Watts)" of the datasheet.

Cisco WRVS4400N v2 FW 2.0.21/Cisco 2951 IPSec Tunnels

Hi,
We have an CISCO 2951 as a central hub in an IPSec VPN community, with six WRVS4400N branch office routers connecting into it.
Setting up the VPN tunnels worked fine, except after a while the tunnels seem to disconnect all by themselves, and they will not reconnect. Browsing the Cisco WRVS4400N logs we get:
[VPN Log]: ERROR: "Taller-182": pfkey write() of SADB_X_DELFLOW message 16 for flow [email protected] failed. Errno 14: Bad address
If I restart the WRVS4400N , the VPN connects just fine. If I let it sit for a while (like an hour or so) and hit connect, it connects just fine as well. Furthermore, if I enter the configuration screen for the VPN tunnel on the WRVS4400N , and hit SAVE (make no changes) it also connects. Just over time it seems to disconnect, and will not reconnect without a restart.
Can anyone enlighten me to a source of the problem??

In my case, it was pfSense Linux firewall connected to the WRVS4400N...
We changed the ISP modem during the troubleshooting and as a result, the tunnel was always up at both sides. In both modems (the original modem and the new one) we used PPPoE (bridge mode) so there was no reason to have a problem with the first one...
Unfortunately, with the new modem we got another problem:
- If I try to connect from the pfSense network to the WRVS4400N network I have access all the time
- If I try to connect from the WRVS4400N network to the pfSense network I am getting "Request timed out". If I do PING x.x.x.x -t for a minute I am getting a reply and the connection works fine. As soon as I stop using the tunnel for more then 5 minutes, the WRVS4400N shows that the tunnel is up but the ping shows again "Request timed out".
As a final solution, we replaced the WRVS4400N with RV-042 and now it works fine at both sides all the time...
So... Sorry but I am done with the WRVS4400N. Do not have time for it.

Can i use cisco 2951 cme 9 router to connect different branch location ip phones together with different subnet?

I want to do VoIP , with cisco 2951 router with cme 9.0. I just want to know can i connect differnt branch ip phone in differnt subnet in single centralized cme router 2951.
that is for differnt branch ip phone there is differnt dhcp pool and then interVlan routing or as such.
i have already done it for 1 location ,can i uses that single router to connect there all branch office?

Yes that works. The phones get an IP from the local site with the info where to reach the TFTP-Server (which is typically the CME). From there the phones load a config file and learn the IP of the CME. The rest is pure routing from the phone to the CME.
I don't know where marin and thana is, just make sure that the delay and jitter between the sites is inside an accepted range of < 150ms (latency) and < 30 ms (jitter).

Contact Center Enhanced License for Cisco 2951 Router

Hi,
I need an urgent help to get the exact part number/details of Contact center enhanced license.
I couldn't find in CCW or any other tool about this license with Cisco 2951 Router (CISCO2951-V/K9).
To run this license on mentioned router, do we need to order it separately or we can take it with router?

Cisco 2951 for BGP at AS edge

hallo,
our customer has a server farm in a data center.
At the moment the farm has connectivity with only one ISP but sometimes it has service discontinuity.
Customer wants to become AS and having two ISP connectivity for backup purposes.
He needs to evaluete two cisco routers to use at AS edge with BGP.
At the moment he says that the throughputh with the server farm is max 15Mbps and in the future he thinks that it will not increase.
We think about cisco2951 routers with 2GB ram.
Is cisco 2951 adeguate for this task ?

Cisco 2951 poe limitation for switch module ?

Hi , i have cisco 2951 router with switch module :
SM-D-ES3G-48-P
there are many poe devices connetced to the switch module .
the problem we face is , sometime the poe devices get down and up (flapping)
after investigatipon by command
show power inline police
i found the devices is getting about 60 Watt , and there is remaining power about 200 watt.
the question is , how to investigate and troubleshoot this issue ?
is there any limitation in the power for that platform ?

Cisco 2851 vs 2951

Can anybody suggest how to find major performance difference between this two routers ? I have small network with 150 users (NAT, DHCP, few access lists, 2/2MB traffic per user, 40MB peak traffic, static routes ....nothing special) and Cisco 2851 works with max 80% CPU utilization. Regarding to the customer will increase teh number of users to around 700 I would like to know if Cisco 2951 will be enough?

If your routing is only to/from your WAN link, you really only need to size the router to deal with the WAN link (as this normally is the principal bottleneck).
If your routing is also within the LAN (i.e. between LAN subnets), then you might want to consider also using a L3 switch.

The 2851 is rated at 220 Kpps, the 2951 is rated at 579 Kpps.

Cisco Router Forwarding External, up to 4 servers Standard & Custom MIBs

Dear Members,
One of my client need a Router and having following requirement. Other requirements meet with Cisco 2951 router.
Management/ Logging: CLI, WebUI, SNMP (v1, v2), Syslog, Forwarding External, up to 4 servers Standard & Custom MIBs, Ping, Traceroute, MPLS License included.
Please guide me what does it required saying "Forwarding External", "up to 4 servers Standard & Custom MIBs".

Controlling Cisco Router via SMS

Hi all!
I have a Cisco 2951 with EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U. So the thing that I want to do is to configure WAN interface to be up/down via receiving the proper SMS(I know that ehwic does support receiving/sending SMS). Already saw a Cisco official topic about EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U and haven't found anething related to my issue.
Can anyone explain me how to do it?
P.S. I think that it is neccesary to create an event and connect it to sms somehow but definitly have no idea how to do so.

Debug r2 signaling on 2951

Hi all,
I need to configure a new voice gateway, which has a connection to the PSTN over R2 signaling. The line is working, and I can receive incoming phone calls. For outgoing calls, I'm currently busy trying to get my translation rules correct.
To accomplish this, it would be really helpful if I could see which digits are actually transmitted over the line. On ISDN gateways, I'd accomplish that with a debug isdn q931. However, for the R2 signaling, I can't find the relevant debug command. The commands at http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice/digital-cas/12154-e1r2config.html#tshoot don't seem to work on my Cisco 2951 running IOS 15.4

We're planning for Cisco Voice Gateway configuration with SIP trunk, till now no E1s are used.
I would like to know how can we calculate the number of simulataneous calls that a cisco ISR G2 router (1921. 2921.3945,etc...) can support ?
How much sip simultaneous calls each ISR G2 model can support ?
Is it better to use SIP or we must get into E1 PRI ?

For the ISR G1, it was supported from 12.4(24)T, so I would assume that your ISR G2 has this feature if you are running 15.x.
EDIT: The Feature-navigator says that it's supported starting with 15.1(2)T.
