Cisco 3560 interface, not connected

Hello
I am in the process of determining available switch ports based on last usage and I came across the following that I don't understand.
Switch-3560G-1#sh int | I Last|Gig
GigabitEthernet0/7 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
Hardware is Gigabit Ethernet, address is 0014.a98f.ba87 (bia 0014.a98f.ba87)
Last input never, output 21:56:52, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
The interface, notconnnect status, has a last output value is that is incrementing.
what could be causing this?

It means that the physical interface is down and the list time the switch saw any traffic (even though it's a one-way traffic) is almost 22 hours ago.

  • Cisco Messaging Interface-Not Running

    Hi All,
On the UCM 6.0 the Cisco Messaging Interface service is activated and when i check the status in 'control center feature services' it shows 'Not Running' and 'Activated'. If i start and refresh the page it again shows as 'Not Running'

    Hi Vineet,
This interface is only used in CCM to Legacy VM integrations (via SMDI) if you are not setup that way this is why you are seeing this :)
    Cisco Messaging Interface Service
The Cisco Messaging Interface allows you to connect a simplified message desk interface (SMDI)-compliant external **Third Party** voice-mail system with the Cisco CallManager. The CMI service provides the communication between the voice-mail system and Cisco CallManager. The SMDI defines a way for a phone system to provide a voice-mail system with the information needed to intelligently process incoming calls.
Genrally the Cisco Messaging Interface (CMI) is a Cisco CallManager service that should be run only on the publisher server. This service intercepts calls destined for voicemail and generates appropriate SMDI messages, which are then delivered to one of the server's Component Object Model (COM) ports.

  • Cisco CDA does not connect to domain controller

    Hello,
I am trying to install the Cisco CDA (Context Directory Agent) to bridge the windows identity gap between Active Directory and Cisco IronPort WSA and eventually ASA.
I followed all the rules in the deployment instructions and I still cannot get this to connect.  With a Domain Admin it always refuses the password.  I then decided to try creating a new account as a domain user called CDAService and I followed the extra steps required to grant this user the proper access to the specific registry keys, DCOM and WMI, and they were added to the Event Log Readers group in AD.  Though the error with this new user account is this:
    exception-cause
org.jinterop.dcom.common.JIRuntimeException: The RPC server is unavailable. Please check if the COM server is up and running and that route to the COM Server is accessible (A simple "Ping" to the Server machine would do). I logged onto the console of our CDA virtual machine and I was able to ping the DC by name.  I also used wbemtest utility on my workstation and used the CDAService account to connect to the \root\cim2 namespace and I was able to pull Win32_ComputerSystem attributes from WMI with that account.  I am on the same subnet as the CDA appliance.
I double checked the Windows Server 2008 R2 firewall on this DC and inbound rules that have to do with WMI are ASync-In, DCOM-In WMI-In all set to allow inbound.
Any ideas how to get this to work?  Its a Server 2008 R2 level domain.

Ok with the windows firewall off for the domain profile, it works.  However we want the firewall on.
I ran this command just like the instructions said, but I guess there is something else the firewall is blocking?
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=”Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)" new enable=yes
Here is the installation guide I am following:

  • Cisco Nexus v1000 not connecting to VMWare vCenter

I am trying to deploy Nexus 1000v, but there is a problem - no connection with vCenter. Pings are ok, all ip addresses and port numbers are valid. Console displays following error:

    Thank you.

You should use port 80 instead of 5480 in your svs connection string.  Port 5480 is the default port for the management of the vCSA.

  • Ivette manzur : Interface errors problems on cisco 3560

    Hello,
I have a problem on one of the interfaces on a cisco 3560 switch. In fact, I set up a monitoring network recently (cacti), and I have a significant number of errors on the interfaces. the problem is that when I do a sh interface I see no errors, and even by making a clear counters it does not solve my problem .. I also changed the wiring with cat 6 cables but nothing has changed ..
What are the main causes of errors on an interface of a switch? what should I do in this case?
Thank you for your help in advance
    ivette manzur

    Hello,
I've a e61i and I experience a similar problem. My phone work very well on WiFi network with no encryption as well as 64-bit wep.
At home I've 2 wireless routers, both encrypted at 128 bits, one with WEP and the other with WPA. On both of them I can correctly obtain an IP thru DHCP, but the traffic do not go thru.
By using IfInfo I think I discovered the reason of the problem (unless IfInfo is not working properly...) and it seems a bug related to the netmask, broadcast and gateway settings. The router is 192.168.15.1 and this is what I get:
    1) DHCP case -- I get two IP adresses: the 169.254.x.x and the one assigned to the router. DNS is also set properly, but both gateway, broadcast and netmask are set to 0.0.0.0 for both IPs.
    IP Addr: 169.254.162.106
    Netmask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast: 0.0.0.0
    Gateway: 0.0.0.0
    DNS1: 192.168.15.1
    IP Addr: 192.168.15.100
    Netmask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast: 0.0.0.0
    Gateway: 0.0.0.0
    DNS1: 192.168.15.1
    2) Static IP 192.168.15.64, netmask set to 255.255.255.0 and gateway and DNS set to 192.168.15.1. The 169.254.x.x disappears and I get only one IP which is set to:
    IP Addr: 192.168.15.64
    Netmask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast:192.168.15.255
    Gateway: 192.168.15.1
    DNS1: 192.168.15.1
So in conclusion, it seems that with 128bit encryption, in the DHCP case gateway, broadcast and netmask are not assigned correctly! While in the Static IP case the netmask is still not assigned correctly!!!
    Hope this can help...

  • Service-policy output not working in Cisco 3560 switch

We got some Cisco catalyst 3560 that we want to control the bandwidth
on the ports. Can this be done, and how do i do it?
    Ive got 3550s that can do policy-map with the interface command;
    service-policy output(and input) <policyname>
But 3560 only seems to handle service-policy input.
If i try to configure output, it says the following:
    SW(config-if)#service-policy output 4mbit-out
police command is not supported for this interface
    Configuration failed!
Warning: Assigning a policy map to the output side of an interface not
    supported
Any workarounds or new ways to accomplish bandwith-control on a 3560 ?
    regards,
    Rajib

The 3560 & 3750 (& 2960) don't support egress policy-maps. They do however support queueing so it is possible to achieve similar results by applying an ingress policer to your user ports to classify (& police?) the traffic, at the egress port you can then queue the traffic based on it's DSCP or CoS value that it was classified with (same as 3550).
It is also possible to restrict the bandwidth in use at an egress port with the interface command 'srr-queue bandwidth limit <10-90>' where 10-90 represents a percentage of the links bandwidth. For example if you want to restrict a 100Mbps port to 10Mbps you would use the command 'srr-queue bandwidth limit 10'

  • MBP upgraded to Yosemite and now will not connect to Internet using a Cisco router

I Upgraded my MBP mid 2010 to Yosemite and now it will not connect to Internet using a system that involves typing in my user name and password in an auto pop up window provided by Cisco security systems. Before, using Mavericks, it worked perfectly: boot up MBP and the Cisco pop up auto loaded. Typed it my password and hey presto, connected to Internet. Now, zilch. There is nothing wrong with the Cisco cos my iPad connects ok, as do both my iPhone's.
the problem is with Yosemite therefore. Please help. I tried all the usual diags, etc to no avail.

Sounds like there could be some kind of compatibility issue between ICS and this Bluetooth device of yours. Is there any compatibility info from the manufacturer about which Android versions that's being supported?

  • This an IPOD I bought used.  Everything else works fine.  It syncs to my computer and plays my music but will not connect to the USB interface in my car. My wife's IPOD, which seems to be identical, works fine.  Any ideas?

This an IPOD I bought used.  Everything else works fine.  It syncs to my computer and plays my music but will not connect to the USB interface in my car. My wife's IPOD, which seems to be identical, works fine. I should say it connects but then immediately disconnects.  Any ideas?

Then my last suggestion is to Reset it, while connected to the BMW Audio.
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs

  • Cisco ASR - How to connect an OTV internal interface to a FabricPath domain

Scenario - migrate servers while maintaining their existing IP address from data centre 1 to data centre 2 with minimal downtime. Diagram attached.
I'm planning on using a Cisco ASR1001-X with AES license at DC1 and DC2 and configuring the routers with OTV to extend 10 x VLANs between the data centres. The join interface would connect directly to the WAN circuit NTU and the Internal Interface would connect to the switch and be configured as a service instance with 10 VLANs tagged using dot1q. The problem is that DC1 switch infrastructure is using Cisco Nexus 56xx configured with FabricPath. I can't find any information that suggests that i can patch the Cisco ASR router's internal interface directly into a FabricPath switchport or what the configuration would be.
Older OTV documentation refers to Nexus 7000 and OTV stating the following: "Because OTV encapsulation is done on M-series modules, OTV cannot read FabricPath packets. Because of this restriction, terminating FabricPath and reverting to Classical Ethernet where the OTV VDC resides is necessary."
Is this true for the Cisco ASR also? The only workaround i can think of is to install a cheap catalyst switch connected to the FabricPath domain and re-introduce spanning-tree at the edge but this seems backwards to me. Any help or suggestions appreciated? Thanks

    Thanks Minh,
So it is possible to have switchports configured as routed, fabricpath and trunk/access in a fabricpath configuration? Do i need to add any spanning-tree pseudo or priority configuration?
    Sample configs:
    #ASR
    interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1
     no ip address
     service instance 1 ethernet
      encapsulation dot1q 1
      bridge-domain 1
     service instance 2 ethernet
      encapsulation dot1q 2
      bridge-domain 2
     service instance 3 ethernet
      encapsulation dot1q 3
      bridge-domain 3
    #Nexus 56xx
    interface e1/5
      switchport mode trunk
      switchport trunk allow vlan 1,2,3
