Cisco 3702i running on a WLC 8500 Drawing low power from 2960s

Hi ..
I keep getting alarm errors in Prime 2.1.
"Access point 'AP01' associated with controller 'WLC-01'
draws low power from Ethernet. Failure reason: 'The AP draws 15.4
watts from Ethernet'.
Prime is running version 2.1
WC is a 8500 running software version 7.6.120.0
2960s is a WS-C2960S-48FPD-L running Version 12.2(55r)SE
I have all ready done the following & still getting the same results :
1)Used the port command "power inline port maximum 30000
2)check & unchecked the box marked pre-standard power
3)Enabled CDP on the AP and PoE+ Switch
4)check & unchecked "Pre-Standard State" and "Power Injector State"
Any help with this would be most appreciated .
Regards
Chris

Could be similar to the below bug, Please the TAC notes at the bottom
AP process CDP packet addressed to bogus multicast address
CSCtc39367
Description
Symptom:
All AP1252s in a given VLAN, which are on switchports configured for extended
PoE (16.8 or 20W), may intermittently see their power draw simultaneously
drop to 15.4W.
At the same time, the APs will each log a message similar to the following:
%CDP_PD-2-POWER_LOW: - INJECTOR_DETECTED_MULTIPLE_MACS_ON_HUB
AIR-LAP1252AG-A-K9 (001e.bead.7c5f)
Conditions:
Another AP in the AP1252's broadcast domain intermittently transmits
a CDP packet to a bogus multicast address (i.e. one other than
0100.0ccc.cccc), such as fdc8.a414.cccc.
Workaround:
On all of the access-ports to which the APs are connected, configure
a mac access-group that filters out non-IPv4 multicasts that are not
addressed to valid multicast MAC addresses.
For example:
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config)#mac access-list extended WOOF
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config-ext-macl)#deny any any
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config-ext-macl)#int gig1/2
Cab4-Cat4507Rc(config-if)#mac access-group WOOF out
(this blocks all non-IPv4 traffic that is not sourced by the switch.)
Further information: So far two TAC cases have been reported to Cisco matching
this bug. In both cases only one Access Point was transmitting these CDP
packets causing all other Access Points to drop the power consumption. In both
cases an RMA was done for the faulty Access Points.
If you require any help in isolating whether you are facing this bug on your
deployment please open a TAC Service Request.

  • Does ibook draw full power from wall if no battery installed?

I've been using my iBook G3(duel usb) for over a year now without a battery installed(battery died last year). Was wondering if the ibook is now drawing electricity from the wall at 100% all the time now since there's no battery installed. Even when it's asleep or powered down. I heard that if you have a dead battery installed the ibook continually draws 100% power to try to charge it.
    thx

If there is no battery in it, it won't be trying to charge it.
It's my opinion that you shouldn't use it without the battery in place. It draws 65 watts at the most (depending upon your adapter). Leaving out the battery subjects the internal contacts to dust and debris. Even a nearly dead battery will usually hold enough power to keep you from losing all your work if you accidentally become disconnected. If Apple intended for it to run without the battery installed, I believe they would have included a battery hatch cover.
I leave my iBook on 24/7 and just sleep the display so the automatic nightly OS X maintenance routines can run. The display takes the most power, and sleeping the display limits the power draw, even if it's trying to charge the battery. It's hard on the adapter to be working at charging a dead battery, though. If you put the battery in and the green ring lights up, you will know that the adapter is NOT trying to charge the battery. Your battery has been out so long that the adapter will probably not try to charge it, anyway. Check it and see. If the ring is green, you'll know it's not drawing a charge.

  • WLC 8500 SSO HA not working

    Hi there,
We're running AireOS 8.0 in a  WLC 8500 series and we're getting problems trying to enable HA scenario. These are the scenarios we have tested:
management interface tagged + switchport trunk tagged + HA tagged + switchport trunk tagged = SSO not working
management interface tagged + switchport trunk tagged + HA tagged + switchport access = SSO not working
management interface untagged + switchport trunk native vlan + HA untagged + switchport access = SSO not working
No scenario is working and in cases 1 and 2 we are lossing the associated APs and we only recover them in case 3.
In parallel, after enabling tagged interface in management, the "show ip arp" of the switch shows the IP through the HA interface and the ping is lost outwards WLC and inwards.
    Any suggestion?
    Regards.

Try to delete the config on  switch and try this.
    Switch config :
    interface range <>
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk allowed vlan X,Y,Z
    Channel-group <> mode on
Still not working then check if WLC is reachable via ssh or telnet!
if you have access via ash or telnet then reboot WLC by using "reset system" command .
    hope it helps.

  • Cisco 3502i will not upgrade to 7.4.121.0 from 7.2.111.3 2504 WLC "Downloading"

Cisco 3502i will not upgrade to 7.4.121.0 from 7.2.111.3. 2504. Wireless tab continues to say "downloading" state on all APs. Temporary fix is to set WLC back to 7.2.11.3.
This is only happening on a few stores that are on one particular Prime Infrastructure box. Other stores on other Prime boxes not having this issue as well as most stores on the same box also not having this issue.
Anyone run into this and was able to resolve?

Scott, I have a few 2504 having this issue. Some having this issue if the site recovered from a power outage.
I can upload the image to other WLCs without issue. Its just these few on one particular PI, leading me to think that some of the WLC have corrupt images.
Yes, TAC told me the issue with 7.4 in the "downloading" state was that there was a communication issue between the AP and WLC and that I would need to get into the AP which I can not do, being it a remote site and FW security disabled this ability.

  • Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer - bla, b

In the last week or so, my iMac (Intel CoreDuo) started displaying an error message every 30 seconds saying "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled", followed by some other useless "explanations" (which BTW can't even be copy/pasted). This has happened before (for about a year now) at every startup, but that was more acceptable; now that the message comes every 30 seconds it renders this machine unusable.
I tried it with or without any USB accessories attached, with or without powered hubs attached, I reset the PRAM and SMC and reinstalled the OS twice. The only option I have left is to trow this machine out and buy a new one (believe me, it's not going to be a Mac).
This shows not only the lack of quality of the hardware (crappy logic board and USB ports) but also a complete disregard for the annoyance these constant popping messages create to the end user when designing the OS. Just while writing this message I had to press the OK button about 10 times. It's AWFUL!!!

Hi cimula. before you turn to the extremes have you tried reinstalling snow leopard. maybe you had a problem occur when it was originally installed and is missing a driver or something. also take it to an apple store if possible. take everything needed to run the imac and show one of the geniuses the problem and 90% of the time if you are nice and calm they will gladly help and diagnose the problem even if it is out of warranty. no promises it will be free it could be a hardware malfuntion. just dont force your self back to pc once all of the problems are gone you will love it again. i switched from pc which i had been using my whole life after a friend showed me his macbook and have never looked back. of course once and a while there will an error, problem or whatever but is it worth switching to a pc which has to have a security program running 24/7 to stay alive and sucking up all of the cpu and slowing you down? hope i am helping Dean

  • Mackie Control Pro drawing too much power from usb?

I have a Mackie Control Universal Pro connected to my 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB rom, running OSX 10.5.4.
When I first hooked up my Mackie Control Pro (about 1 year ago) it worked perfectly. A bout 2 months ago my computer wouldn't recognize it anymore. I keep getting this message telling me the device is drawing too much power from USB port and due to that it will shut down that specific port.
My MCP is plugged to the electrical outlet and shouldn't need to be drawing power via the USP. I tried disconnecting all other devices hooked up via USB and Firewire beside the keyboard and mouse but same massage keep coming.
I checked the MCP to make sure the electrical wire was plugged in properly and supplying it with power, I also tried hooking it up with different USB cables via different ports but problem still there.
Can anybody help me out please this is starting to be a big head ache. Any help would be great.

Not 30 seconds after submitting the question  I did just that.  I felt stupid not thinking of that simple check.  Thanks for the quick reply.  It worked just fine with another cable.  It appears we need a new cable for my daughter....
    Thanks again.

  • How to see my code drawing a line from one point to another

hi, im wondering if you could help me.
i am working on my project which is to visualise travelling salesman heuristics.
i have managed to make my first heuristic work, but my problem is that when i clicked the run button on my GUI,
the output is already a complete tour with all the edges already drawn, but what i want is to see how it solves or draw the lines from one vertex to another just by clickin the run button once.
would be great if you could advice me of what method or technique i need to use to see my application solving the tour or drawing the edges.

    Hi Christoffer,
Thanks for the reply, excellent information! I was a bit struggling with the availability of the tokenGroups attribute, but your info makes it pretty clear.
Do you also happen to have experience with the LDAP_MATCHING_RULE_IN_CHAIN method to retrieve nested groups? It seems to perform pretty well, retrieves all nested groups using the memberOf attribute and works on all AD environments (W2K3 SP2 or higher).
Richard Mueller did a performance test using both methods:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/fr-FR/f238d2b0-a1d7-48e8-8a60-542e7ccfa2e8/recursive-retrieval-of-all-ad-group-memberships-of-a-user?forum=ITCG

  • JLayerPane draws random components from different layers.

    Hello,
I am running the latest version of JAVA 1.6 on Mac OS X. I am using JLayerPane and I have three panels where. The problem is that when application starts it draws JTextFields from the third layer, but they don't work. When I go to the last panel (the third) one, I just let's say open my Skype it draws JButton's from the second layer and judging from working effects they do work. Any ideas what's wrong?

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. Some account types can be set up automatically as soon as Mail knows the emails address (because the server settings are built in), in other cases you will have to get them from your ISP.

  • "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." HELP!

When I plug in my son's iPad I get this message "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." I only have one charger for this iPad all my other chargers are for iPhone 4s. I have pluggerd it in different outlets around the house and the iPad will not charge. When I plugged it on my lap top to back it up it gave me the warning message. HELP!!

I have the same problem on my Air. The message first came up while my iPhone was connected to it for some time. Since then, it pops up ALL THE TIME, whithout anything being connected to the USB port, at what appear to be random intervals that vary between about one hour and a few seconds. I have tried resetting the SMC and  the PRAM, but no results. A quick search revealed that thousands of users are facing this problem, but Apple has yet to provide a solution. Please help!

    I have tried:

The 'funny' thing: there is no USB device attached to the computer (only power and monitor cables).

    Appreciate your ideas?

It's probably an internal hardware fault, but you can try this:
