Cisco 3925E SFP support
Hi All,
The Cisco 3925E ISR G2 router contains 4 onboard ports ( 2 RJ45 and two ports that can be used by plugging in an SFP module). The 3925 compatability document only lists Fibre SFP's supported on the onboard ports. Do the other onborad ports only support Fibre ports? becasue there are already two RJ45 ports.
Thanks in Advance
Umesh Shetty
Hi,
The 3925E has 2 ports that can be used as copper or fiber (SFP) and the other 2 are only copper for a total of 4 Gig ports.

Cisco Nexus 5548UP support SFP-10G-LRM ?
Hi all, I have a question about Cisco Nexus 5548UP. Is Cisco Nexus 5548UP support SFP-10G-LRM ? Because in CCW, i can't configure the SFP-10G-LRM. There is only SFP-10G-LR, SR, and the others, but there's no LRM. Pelase help me to answer this question. Thanks a lot
The LRM is s special case transceiver which supports 10 Gbps over older FDDI grade multimode fiber when used with a mode conditioning patch cord. It is not supported on the Nexus 5548UP.
The SFP-10G-LR is used with single mode fiber for spans up to 10 km in length. It is supported on the 5548UP (and most every platform of Cisco's that takes SFPs).
Please see the product data sheet here. -
Hello,
Have what I hope is a simple question for you. How best to connect my 250 Mbit/s internet circuit to a newly arrived Cisco 2911? We're changing over our internet circuit from being managed by AT&T (includes router) to an unmanaged one (we provide router). The existing demarc extension terminates in a mult-mode LC connector and connects to a SFP module in the managed AT&T router.
Was sent a 2911 with no additional modules or cards. I have some GLC-SX-MM= SFP modules, but did not see any SFP slots in the 2911. Do I have to go with a higher router, like the 2921? Or are there SFP carrier cards or other modules we can use from Cisco? Thanks.
ScottFor the ISR G2, like the 2900, you should be looking for the EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU.
How best to connect my 250 Mbit/s internet circuit to a newly arrived Cisco 2911?
However, the main question is this: Can a 2911 handle 250 Mbps bandwidth? The answer is no. The 2911 can handle 180.73 Mbps of traffic. This value is express in HALF duplex and without any encryption.
I believe a 3925E can support 250 Mbps of traffic (full dupex, full encryption). -
GETVPN: Cisco 3925E as a Key Server for 1500 GMs
Hi,
In a MPLS-VPN scenario as a private network for a client, they want to encrypt all their data traffic. GETVPN is the chosen encryption solution. They have 1500 branch offices, and 2 CPDs. We plan to use two Cisco 3925E as Key Servers, one in each CPD.
Is the Cisco 3925E enough to support 1500 Branch Offices? If not, what plattaform do you recommend?
Cisco Deployment and design guide is from 2010 and new platform Cisco 3900 is not mentioned.
Thanks in advanceHi Jorge,
The maximum number of GMs tested on a 3925E is 4000. you'll find the details of the scalability tests here:

Hope that helps,

I have an LMS 4.0.1 server (on Windows 2008 R2) with all the LMS and device updates applied that fails when trying to do an Inventory Collection on a Cisco 3925E router. The router is running IOS Version 15.1(1)T2. This device is apparently supported according to:

I have attached a more detailed output from the IC_Server.log file for the Inventory Collection job of the device.
The error at first glance appears to be related to EnergyWise, so I even tried creating an SNMP view that excludes the EnergyWise MIB with the following configuration:
snmp-server view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB iso included
snmp-server view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB ciscoEnergywiseMIB excluded
snmp-server community L1ghty3@rSnmp$ view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB RO
snmp-server group ADMIN v3 auth read EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB
But that didn't seem to fix it, the Inventory Collection still fails. (Perhaps this configuration is incorrect?).
Has anyone experienced any issues like this? I have tried everything I can think of to fix this, and have trawled through the support forums but couldn't find anything.Hi,
First of all very nice research with logs
You are hitting the below bug , which will be fixed in LMS 4.2.However an official Patch will be release in the mid of october so you can conatct cisco to get the Patch for the same in October.
CSCts13593 Inventory collection fails due to VersionAPI code

Hi All
I found following spec in 8510 controller data sheet
Interfaces and Indicators
• 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
• Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) options (only Cisco SFPs supported): SFP-10G-SR
• LED indicators: Network Link, Diagnostics
• 1x Service Port: 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet (RJ-45)
However, I need Long Range SFP, i.e SFP-10G-LR
Would that be supported?hehe. Me the same. I guess you also wanted to connect the controller to a physical diverse VSS or N7K or other system ? , now i am going to have it connected to two seperate N5K (no vpc) in Active/Standby mode.

[asr920] ASR-920-24SZ-M - SFP support
Hi, CSC:
Can someone please provide a full list of 1G SFP support for the asr920 for the 24 SFP ports (part number ASR-920-24SZ-M).
I'm particularly interested in the BX (bidirectional) SFP support. Data sheet and HW inst guide do not include this list.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/asr-920-series-aggregation-services-router/datasheet-c78-733397.html
Thanks,
c.hi frederik,
I apologize, but this forum is surrounded with experts in the IOS-XR area focusing on the ASR9xxx, CRS and NCS platforms.
The ASR920 is a different group running a different OS (IOS-XE), and I dont have the asnwer for you here. I tried to research it, but I can't find a good solid answer for you.
I would want to recommend to re-post this on the XE forums or ASR9xx (2 x's :) or open a tac case or consult with your AS or Sales engineers for this.
sorry...

Are off brand SFP modules that guarantee Cisco compatibility worth anything?
Like you can get GigE copper SFP's GLC-T= for 3750's made by other companies like eNet for example?Disclaimer

What are you really asking? Are you asking whether it's a "good idea" to use brand X SFP in Cisco equipment? If so, that's up to you. I believe if you have any issues with those SFPs, Cisco will not support you unless you use their SPFs.
So, if the brand X SFPs work, and they cost less, then it may be a "good idea". If you have problems, then it may not be a "good idea". Can't say how the reduced (?) cost vs. Cisco support matters to you. That's something you need to decide. -

Hi Cisco experts,
My name is Kumagai and I need your expert opinions below.
I am trying to configure one VLAN1 support multiple network segments as below.
(this should be a very straight forward configuration and should be OK, I think ? )
interface Vlan1
ip address 172.30.0.0 255.255.128.0
ip address 172.30.31.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 172.30.61.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 172.30.71.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 172.30.4.253 255.255.255.0 secondary
The only issue that is eating me is the above network segments are using HSRP too
and I am not sure is this possible with a combination of VLAN1 supporting multiples which are
further supported with HSRP settings in Cisco environment.
!example of HSRP:
interface Vlan4
ip address 172.30.4.253 255.255.255.0
no ip redirects
standby 4 ip 172.30.4.254
standby 4 priority 105
standby 4 preempt
<<< what will happen if I add the HSRP configuration as below into the above VLAN1 with multiple Network segment ??)
I would like to summarize my "Combined" configurations as below but I need your expert opinions on
whether the configuration below is workable without any problem ??
Or it is a total flop because Cisco does not support the configuration below !!!
interface Vlan1
ip address 172.30.0.0 255.255.128.0
ip address 172.30.31.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 172.30.61.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 172.30.71.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 172.30.4.253 255.255.255.0 secondary
standby 30 ip 172.30.31.254
standby 30 priority 105
standby 30 preempt
standby 60 ip 172.30.61.254
standby 60 priority 105
standby 60 preempt
standby 70 ip 172.30.71.254
standby 70 priority 105
standby 70 preempt
standby 4 ip 172.30.4.254
standby 4 priority 105
standby 4 preempt
Thanking you in advance !!!!!Hi,
As far as i know we dont set the ip helper address on the radio interface. It should be on the L3 interface of corresposding VLANs i.e.
int vlan 20
ip helper-address 192.168.33.xxx
int vlan 60
ip helper-address 130.20.1.xxx
I'm assuming that your using SVI's (int Vlan 20 and int Vlan 60) rahter than physical interfaces. Also hope you have configured switch port as trunk where this AP is connected.
Modify the AP config as below since you are using data vlan as the native vlan
interface Dot11Radio0.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
interface FastEthernet0.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
Ideally your AP fastethernet configuration should looks like below and not sure how you missed this as this comes by default when you have multiple vlans for multiple ssids.
interface FastEthernet0.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
no ip route-cache
bridge-group 20
no bridge-group 20 source-learning
bridge-group 20 spanning-disabled
interface FastEthernet0.60
encapsulation dot1Q 60
no ip route-cache
bridge-group 60
no bridge-group 60 source-learning
bridge-group 60 spanning-disabled
Hope this helps.

Is Cisco Nexus 5596UP support vlan base Policing and traffic shaping on code NX OS version: 5.1(3)N1(1)

Show CDP from the switch is not discovering devices, but the neightbors can see the 5K in question. Reboot sometimes will fix it, but not always. Is cisco prime infrastructure support / can be run as syslog server?
Dear All,
is cisco prime infrastructure support / can be run as syslog server?
and,
where i can see network topology diagram, using cisco prime infrastructure?
many thanks,
JerriHello. Cisco Prime LMS will be replaced by Cisco Prime Infrastructure in the near future.
In the current release of Cisco Prime Infrastructure you can't use topology diagrams. This feature is in roadmap.
About syslog, you can send syslogs to Cisco Prime Infrastructure, but I don't recommend using it as syslog server. Please see this link for more information https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2179520

cisco 1900 switch support vtp version2 and etherchannel or not?
Please help and reference.
Thank in advanceHello,
Fast Etherchannel is supported on 1900 switches.
Please refer the below URL for details:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/28201900/1928v9x/ee_scg/overview.htm#xtocid72765
I "think" you need to have Enterprise Edition Software. In case if you have a standard version, then you need to purchase the upgrade kit to upgrade to enterprise version.
As far as I know, VTP V2 is not supported on the 1900.
By the way, 1900 swiches are End of Sale and the last date of support is July, 2007.
