5500 Series WLC internal DHCP Server - Exclusion?
Hi there,
We're using the internal DHCP server on our 5500 Series WLC which works fine.
However on one WLAN we ran out of addresses so changed the subnet from a /25 to a /24.
The problem is that the router/gateway is still in the middle (124/125/126) and not easily changed.
I've moved the WLC interface to the top of the subnet (251) but the router is more difficult as its externally managed/controlled.
So is there a way we can create a DHCP pool of .1 through 250 on a /24 mask but exclude 124/125/126?
Thanks
Mike
PS - Router subnet masks were changed so can see whole subnet.Mike,
The WLC isn't a fully functional DHCP server, it only allows you to define what is in scope, not what is out of scope. Now if you have a cisco router/switch, you could use that for the DHCP server and specifically exclude the necessary addresses.

3502 AP not join 5500 series WLC
I have 5508 wireless lan controller and 3502 AP. I did all configuration on WLC using the configuration guide. But AP don't join the WLC. AP can assign an IP address and i can ping this IP from WLC. When i connect the AP from console i see the logs below;
*Mar 1 15:36:57.128: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Could Not resolve CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLL ER

*Mar 1 15:37:53.638: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Did not get log server settings from DH CP.
I research similar problems in forums and i implement all they said but i can't solve the problem. there are also DHCP options below;
ddns-update-style interim;

option space Cisco_LWAPP_AP;
option Cisco_LWAPP_AP.server-address code 43 = string;
subnet 10.17.25.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {

vendor-option-space Cisco_LWAPP_AP;
option Cisco_LWAPP_AP.server-address f1:04:0a:11:07:0a; (Management IP : 10.17.7.10 )
What could be the cause of problem ??Try changing your option 43 address to look like this:

Guest wireless setup not working on 5500 series WLC
I have a 5508 core WLC with a 3850 as the local controller for an AP3G2-K9W8-M Access Point. The 3850 and the core WLC both have the wireless guest WLAN configured. My client can see the wireless LAN. When it tries to connect, it fails.
Can you give me debug commands that I can run on the AP, 3850, and/or WLC to try to determine why it won't connect?Thanks! I ran the debug - but I haven't found anything in it yet to help. Hopefully I have overlooked something that will help.
I created a test wlan with no security and it is not connecting either. Any additional thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Need MIBs for Cisco 2500 Series WLC
Hi,
I need the MIBs for Cisco 2500 WLC.
I have it for 5508 WLC. Does it works same for 2500 WLC too ?
Regardsthey should be very similar. There would be more trees available for the 5508 over the 2504.
You can get the MIBS for the 2504 from the Software downloads section of CCO.

2 x Cisco 4400 series WLC to provide redundancy
Hi all,
can any one point me in the direction of some resources so that I can get a better understanding of configuring 2 4400's in a redundancy group?
I've got experience with the HP wireless module kits in a redundancy group, any one know whether the cisco stuff works in the same sort of way??
MarioHere are a few docs that should help.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008064a294.shtml
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/6.0/configuration/guide/c60mobil.html -
I search how can i work two Controller on redundancy, i find high_availability article on site but this article says you should upgrade software at least 7.3 (my controller is 7.2). The thing that i wonder is can not we use redundancy feature on release before 7.3 ? if it was, which feature can i use for redundacy structure ?
And also i want to know; when i read high_availability article i saw one controller is being back-up controller and holding on standby. i understand that this controller not work unless active controller is crash. in other words the controllers do not load balancing. i maybe wrong about this so i'm so glad if you lighting me. Thanks already for all replies...Hi Olgu,
If you want make redudncy with 7.2 then follow this procedure:
Configure primary and second controller on each access points.
Below lists the Access Point join order:
* The AP will associate first with its primary controller, assuming it has been primed.
* Upon failing with the primary, it will try to register with its secondary and then its tertiary.
* If there is no controller information primed in the AP, the AP will then look for a master controller.
* Finally, if there is no primed controller and no master controller, the AP will select the least loaded from all controllers that have responded to the discovery.

Hi!
I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled).

Hola:
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?

Trouble getting Cisco 2600 Series AP to stay joined to WLC 5508
Hi,
I have recently been tasked with upgrading our old Autonomous APs to LWAPs. We have a 5508 WLC at our Virtual Co-Lo and I am using Flexconnect to accomadate local switching and dhcp at our sites. I have upgraded over 50 APs and joined them to the controller. These include only 1130AG and 1240AG models. However they are working flawlessly and staying connected to the controller. The issue I'm having is with a new batch of 2600 series APs staying connected to the controller. I have attempted to do research into what may be causing the disconnects but have yet to find a solution. I am using DNS to resolve the CAPWAP & LWAPP queries from the APs to the controller accross our WAN. In reading other posts I thought it may be an issue with packets getting dropped but have had our Vendor who manages Sonicwalls at both ends of the WAN confirm for me there is no packet loss. Below are logs I gathered using puttty from the AP & WLC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
AP I'm doing the testing on:

WLC 5508 Field Recovery Version N/A
Hello,
I have upgraded my new WLC to version 7.0.98.218
I noticed the N/A for the Field recovery version. On my old 4402 it is called the Emergency Image Version, and it is 5.2.157.0
How do i get a recovery version on the WLC?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Tony5500 platform doesn't have ER image rather it has FUS image which is similar to ER image on 4400.
5500 suppose to show 1.1 instead N/A for ER image, it was a bug on that 7.0 code.

Does the WLC 5500 Series support LLDP?
We have 2 WLC 5508s running v7.0.98.0 and 70+ 1230, 1240, & 1250 series LWAPs. We are currently enabling LLDP because we will be installing some non-Cisco switches in the near future. Does the WLC5508 and the access points it controlls support LLDP?
Hi David:
The Data Sheet for the 5500 series wireless LAN controllers is at
http://tools.cisco.com/squish/b7D77
That data sheet does not currently list LLDP (as LLDP) or IEEE 802.11AB as supported protocols in the product as it sits today.
I would encourage you to contact your Cisco SE, Cisco account team or Cisco authorized wireless reseller, and let them know you think that this support would be valuable to the wireless LAN controllers. The "sales side of the house" has procedures in place to gather and accumulate input from the customers they serve, and forward it to the respective business units within Cisco for possible inclusion in future releases of Cisco's products.
Sincerely,
Rollin Kibbe

New installation of Prime Infrastructure 2.2.0 (PI-VA-2.2.0.0.158.ova)
installed fixes/software/device packs:
PI 2.2.1 Poodle Fix (installed)
PI 2.2.1 Maintenance Release (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
Prime Infrastrucutre 2.2 Device Pack 3 (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
Licences installed (ncs stopped,rebooted)
Added all devices via Bulk Import (Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices)
Problem 1:
The Cisco 5500 WLCs are not listed in Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices (see screen shot) but listed under "All Devices"!
The Cisco 4400 WLCs and the 8500 WLCs are listed within their subgroup.
Devices are in "Managed State"
Problem 2: fixed! (Browser issue)
Problem 3:
Unable to run "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report because I get the error message: Failed to run report: Unable to retrieve data for: Chassis Information (if Chassis Information is selected, if System Information is selected I get the error message with ...retrieve data for:System Information)
All devices do have an "Admin Status = Managed" and the Last Inventory Collections Status = Completed.
Has anyone the same issues or a tip for me?
Another topic, the "User Defined Fileds" are not exported when with running a "Device Export" (Inventory > Device Management > Network Devices). ;-(

BastianHallo Bastian,
I think you still have browser issue, Using IE is still the best with Prime.
I have exactly same prime 2.2 and installed fixes/software/device packs.
I have no problem I can see all views. I use now IE 11, with Chrome 42.0.2311.90 and firefox 37.01 I have problems too with lots of views. You have not tell what browser + version you have.
Since you have same prime 2.2 as me. I have other problems, can you check yours?
Can you see a functional CLI template page at Configuration > Templates > Features & Technologies:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12481691/can-cisco-prime-22-still-do-simple-ad-hoc-deployment-job-cli-over-all-switches
Do you have SNMP Connectivity Failed while Verify Credentials has no errors all green and checked.

We need to archieve configuration for Cisco ASA 5500 series appliances.
We have Cisco works LMS 3.0.1.
Device package installed is 4.2
Any help would be appricated.
Thanks in advance.
SamirHi ,
Thanks for your answer.
Right now we are using TACAS to login in to the ASA. That means we need single username and password to login via
Cisoworks. Am I correct ?
Waiting for your reply.

Trying to add a CAP3502E-A-K9 WAP to a Cisco 5500 WLC
Hi!
I'm trying to add a CAP3502E-A-K9 WAP to a Cisco 5500 WLC. I used a VLAN for the wireless service and a DHCP server to assign IP's to the WAP's I got 2 more WAP working fine on the same switch but when I connect the new WAP ofr some reason is not registered into the controller, I already tried to add the WAP manually on the controller but is still not working.Kindly post the output to the following commands:
AP: sh version;
AP: sh ip interface brief;
AP: sh inventory;
WLC: sh sysinfo; and
WLC: sh time
