Cisco 5508 Email Notification

I have 2 Cisco 5508 Wireless LAN Controllers.
They are NOT connected to a WCS.
Is there a way to confiure the 5508's to send email notifications when an AP drops off line?
Is not is this functionality available with either a WCS or new NCS?

Hi,
You can't send SMTP alerts directly from the controllers.
The options you have are
to configure a Syslog server under the Management tab of the controller to enable logging of alarms to the Syslog server. When the alarm arrives at the syslog server, there needs to be an event configured to email the particular alarm to SMTP recipients
Install WCS at version 7.x providing support for the 5508 controllers and 350x WAPs. Via WCS, with the controllers and WAPs managed by the application, the alarms will be emailed to the configured SMTP recipients
Hope this is of help
Regards
David

  • FDM Email Notification Problem

    Hello every one
    i have configured my cisco LMS Email Notification Group and evrything works fine sending and receving ,  excpet that the FDM sent the Email without displaying the Device Name only the IP address in the Object ID .

    Hi Mohamed,
    By deafult DFM does not use the DCR Display Name. check the below link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_device_fault_manager/3.2/user/guide/useDevMg.html#wp1367517
    To overcome this :
    1> Added the Device Name and IP address on the DNS Server
    2> Modified NMSROOT/objects/smarts/conf/discovery/discovery.conf, and changed the DisplayNameFormat from "AUTOASSIGNED" to "MIBIISYSNAME".
    That caused DFM to display the sysName as the display name.
    Also set the NameFormat to TM_USEAUTONAME, then restarted daemon Manager (net stop crmdmgtd && net start crmdmgtd )
    Open name-resolver.conf file and make same changes that we have made in  discovery.conf.  ie, the following entry should be there in this file  also.
      #NameFormat = "TM_USESEEDNAME"
      NameFormat = "TM_USEAUTONAME"
    3> Delete and re-add a device in DFM
    Thanks-

  • Cisco Prime Infraestructure email notification

    Hello,
    We have configured Cisco Prime Infraestructure to get email notifications. Problem is that we are getting alerts for all controllers and APs
    configured in Prime, and some of them are managed by another team, so I would like to know if it could be possible to configure some kind
    of filter to get the alerts only for controllers we are interested?
    Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Scott
    I have not a good understanding how virtual domain it can helps. How do you suggest using virtual domains?
    In my case there are only three administrators in the network and they are not interested about getting email notifications from the ports connecting end users in access switches, but they are interested about uplink ports notifications and CPU, memory, environment from the same switches.
    Hope your support.

  • Cisco Unity Device notification SMTP, email and text not working

    Client has Unity 1.x.  I know it's pretty old.  BUt looking at alot of documentation, the device notification concept is similar.
    Currently the users are unable to recieve text notification or email notification.
    I follwed the following steps:
    1. configured the unity connection server to relay messages to a Smart host. In this link.  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/1x/administration/guide/acm150.html#wp1042694
    2. I ocnfigured the user's device notification for SMTP.  I put the user's email address.
    3. I tried to set it up for text messaging and that did not work also.
    Can someone please help me out.  What am i doing wrong?

    I use [email protected] to forward emails to my phone . . . it gives me most of the message in the email, rather than just the subject line and maybe a word or two of the message.
    Emails should be sent to your10-digit [email protected] or @vzwpix.com

    Hi,
    I got a problem in a newly installed LMS 3.2 with the DFM email notification.

    I can get emails from other moduls of LMS. CS sends me emails from successfully backups.

  • ISE Guest Email Notification (Guest account creation)

    When a guest user creates an account in ISE, it sends a system generated email with the username/password. It says "Welcome to the Guest Portal, your username ise xxx and password is yyy." Is there anywhere in ISE (1.2) to change this text, especially the name 'Guest Portal'? I thought it was in language templates > Configure Miscellaneous Items > Portal Name. But I changed this to the portal name, and it was not reflected in the email. Thanks.

    Josh,
    Right now, it's pretty limited.  Here is the template to be used for formatting the email notifications:
    E-Mail Notification Template
    The following is an example of the login information for the body of an e-mail in an English language template:
    Welcome to the Guest Portal, your username is $username$ and password is $password$
    The $username$ and $password$ strings will be replaced with the username and password values from the Guest User account.
    In the e-mail body, you can use special variables to provide the details for the created guest account. When  using these variables, you must use all uppercase or all lowercase  letters, and you cannot mix them. For example, the string for username  can be either $USERNAME$ or $username%, but it cannot be $UserName$.
    You can use these variables in the e-mail notification template:
    •$USERNAME$ = The username created for the guest.
    •$PASSWORD$ = The password created for the guest.
    •$STARTTIME$ = The time from which the guest account will be valid.
    •$ENDTIME$ = The time at which the guest account will expire.
    •$FIRSTNAME$ = The first name of the guest.
    •$LASTNAME$ = The last name of the guest.
    •$EMAIL$ = The e-mail address of the guest.
    •$TIMEZONE$ = The time zone of the user.
    •$MOBILENUMBER$ = The mobile number of the guest.
    •$OPTION1$ = Optional field for editing.
    •$OPTION2$ = Optional field for editing.
    •$OPTION3$ = Optional field for editing.
    •$OPTION4$ = Optional field for editing.
    •$OPTION5$ = Optional field for editing.
    •$DURATION$ = Duration of time for which the account will be valid.
    •$RESTRICTEDWINDOW$ = The time window during which the guest is not allowed to log in.
    •$TIMEPROFILE$ = The name of the time profile assigned.
    This dicument is found here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.2/user_guide/ise_custom_portals.html#wp1015657
    ISE v1.3 should have some improvements and quite possibly some HTML tags.

  • MeetingPlace Express 2.1.1.2 Email Notifications stopped working

    Hello I am encountering the following issue with Email Notification with MPE 2.1.1.2:
    I schedule a meeting and invite someone from outside of the company by email. The meeting creation works but no email is sent to the guess. When I go to the Email Notification Queue Status Report,in the Description field, I see the massage stating "New meeting scheduled. Queued for delivery" but never deliveried. Could you please let me know how can I resolve the email notification issue. Please note that the SMTP server is configured and it's working correctly.
    This was previous post I found back in October 2006, so I'm hoping that in 2010 someone knows how to fix this problem.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/353918
    Thanks in advanced!

    You may have already checked these things, but it is worth asking:
    1. There is a user called "guest" in MPE.  This user account is what is tied to non-MPE users when they join meetings and is also used by MPE for notification.  In particular, the E-mail type field is used.  Set this to SMTP
    2. Ensure that there are no ACLs/firewall rules between MPE and your SMTP relay that would block access.  Yes, I know you said your SMTP relay server is working.  I am suggesting you ensure that the communication will flow freely between MPE and your SMTP relay server.
    3. If your SMTP relay server requires authorization, enable it in MPE.  If not, then disable it.  I am betting you have already done this but I am just checking.
    4. Check to see if your SMTP relay server has any local permission features that would block access from MPE.  Some relay servers differentiate between and internal (intra-company relay) and external.  Make sure that MPE can relay to external participants.
    5.  Make sure MPE uses a SMTP e-mail alias that is valid.
    6. Does SMTP relay work internally?  If you are an Exchange/Outlook shop and have configured user internal MPE user accounts and groups with E-mail type Exchange.  Change it to SMTP (for the internal entity) and test notification.
    I have seen this issue a few times and I have had people say they know SMTP is working.  Usually they stumble across the fix by going through the questions listed above.
    HTH.

    Bill

  • LMS 3.2 Email Notification

    Hi,
    We are running LMS 3.2. And email notification is configured and working.
    Our issue is , we are receiving so many emails. And it is not occuring exactly at the same time anything goes wrong.
    How do we make the configuration, so that we get an email saying, this device is down/ having errors.

    Post a sample of the email and remove any private info just so we can understand if you are getting the issue from RME or DFM. Most likely its DFM and you need to take a look at how you have configured your notification services.

  • LMS 4.2 email notifications for node down

    I need help configuring an email alert so that when a node (switch, router, etc) is unreachable, i will recieve an email notification.  So far i have tried creating an event set then notification group and then email subscription.  This does not seem to be exactly what i am looking for.  I think this could create alerts for any interface that is unreachable.
    thanks!

    LMS does not works this way unfortunately, and is not able to generate alert/notification for node/device down.
    Fault Management manages doesn't manages device as a whole, instead it manages device on aspects of Environment, System and Interface groups.
    It can mostly analyse a card down when many of the similar ports go down in one, but generally it will will manage device explicitly for above categories, which is further subdivided into :
    Environment : Power Suppoly, Fan and Temp. Sensor
    System : Processor and Memory
    InterfaceStatus: Port, Interface, IP and Card
    The kind of Events if can generate are following and also mentions the situation in which it will be generated:

  • Auto provisioning users and send email notification to the users

    I currently have CUCM 10.5 setup to auto register phones and I use Cisco prime provisioning 10.5 to auto provision the users.
    Self provisioning is setup and users can call the IVR number enter the self service ID, which is their DN.
    what I would like to do is send an email notifying  the end user of their setup and how to use their telephony device Example (Self-service ID: 8888, auth code: 3333) is this possible from Prime Provisioning or CUCM.

    Thanks Jamie
    Wishful thinking I guess. It would have been seamless if they added that form of email notification to end users when auto provisioning. Anyways to get around that I used MS word mail merge and used the same spread sheet I used to batch provision the users to send the Self-service ID to the email contacts.

  • WCS email notification

    Is there any way to include just a certain access-points to trigger email notification, for example when AP goes down (critical). There is hundreds of access points in my network, but only half of them are critical This is problematic, because outside office hours, these notifications are sent to helpdesk and they cannot know, what access-point is critical or not and there is an eccessive amount of notificatoins from non critical access-points.
    I am using WCS version 4.2.
    - Marko Tuhkunen

    You can find the steps for email notificaiton located here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/4.2/configuration/guide/wcsevent.html#wp1132779
    Alarm Emails
    The email notification filter window allows you to notify a network operator when an alarm occurs. The severity level is set to critical by default when the alert category is enabled for email notifications, but you can choose a different severity level for the different categories. Email notifications are generated only for the severity levels that are configured.
    Step 1 Choose Monitor > Alarms.
    Step 2 From the Select a command drop-down menu, choose Email Notification and click GO

  • WVC80N email notification setup

    I just have my WVC80N camera delivered. I am now trying to setup its email notification once the motions are  detected at home.  I have noticed that the WVC80N does not support SSL SMTP servers (it cannot send email notification to any SSL SMTP mail server), which are almost everywhere nowadays like gmail, Yahoo, hotmail, even my own ISP ATT. My question is why CISCO cannot add the support for SSL to its wvc80N,. Without SSL SMTP server support, this email notification function  is useless.

    Hi,
    I might be able to help.  I just got a WVC80N camera and am trying to setup the camera for email alert.  I have AT&T DSL and had problem setting it using SSL SMTP port 465 using my yahoo email account.  I then remembered that when I initially setup my AT&T DSL account, I was given another email account @att.net.  I then use my @att.net account instead of @yahoo.com account and set the port to 25.  Now when I click on the button 'Test E-Mail' under the Setup->Motion Detection page, it pops up a message stating that the email was sent successfully.  So try to use your ISP's email account and see if it will work.
    So I'm able to have the camera send a test email to my email account.  But my problem is that the email itself is blank.  No attachment either picture or video.  Has anyone else been able to get the camera to send a test email, but the email itself is blank?

    I got this to work by creating the notification on the job_name.job_subname in this way:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION (
    job_name => 'ChainJob.ChainSubJob',
    recipients => '[email protected]',
    sender => '[email protected]',
    subject => 'Scheduler Job Notification-%job_owner%.%job_name%-%event_type%',
    body => '%event_type%',
    events => 'JOB_FAILED, JOB_BROKEN,JOB_DISABLED,JOB_SUCCEEDED,JOB_SCH_LIM_REACHED');
    END;
    Where ChainSubJob is the Step in your chain that you want alerted on.
    If you aren't sure what you steps are called, you can always view the details by looking at the following - you'll see the JOB_SUBNAME listed here:
    select * from user_scheduler_job_run_details;
