  • Cisco 9971 Not Registering on CUCM 8.6

    Hey,
Ive run into some trouble with a 9971 phone running on CUCM 8.6. The phone has been registered with the server before with its settings locked down so the access to the settings menu via the phone has been disabled. Around a few weeks later the CUCM server ran into some problems and had to be restored. Since then I am unable to get the phone to register back with the CUCM server. i get the rejected message in the phones tab. and the message Telephony service unavaliable on the phone itself.
I would factory reset the phone however as the settings were locked out from before i am unable to get into the menu and dont know another way to reset the phone, the method used with previous models (turn on hold # then press 1234...etc) does not work.
    Any help would be appricated.
    Regards,
    Fraser

    Hello Guys,
Anyone got to solve this problem? I have it on multiple 9951 phones, the factory reset process does not work as the phone apparently ignores that you are pressing the # button... As per the below link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/9971_9951_8961/9_0/english/admin_guide/P567_BK_CEC6105C_00_admin-guide-8961-9951-9971_chapter_01100.html#P567_TK_PB2EC99B_00
"When the light on the Mute button and handset light strip turns                 off and all other lights (Line button, Headset button, Speakerphone button and                 Select button) stay green, press                  123456789*0# in sequence.
When you press                      1, the lights on the line buttons turn red.                     The light on the Select button flashes when a button is pressed.
If you press the buttons out of sequence, the lights on the line                     button, headset button, speakerphone button, and Select button turn green. You                     need to start over and press                      123456789*0# in sequence again."
In my situation this never happen, the line buttons turn on green and after that they all turn off and the phones displays "Phone not registered"

  • CUCM 8.6 - 8961 "Phone Not Registered"

    Hi,
I can't get my 8961 to register to my CUCM 8.6. My 7941 registered without a problem. I verified that I correctly entered the MAC Address. My 8961 can reach the TFTP server and get its TFTP file.
    Status Messages:
00:41:37 VPN Error :VPN is not configured.
    00:41:36 SEPXXXXXXXXXXXX.cnf.xml.sgn (HTTP)
    00:41:33 Trust List Updated
    00:41:32 Updating Trust List
I verified the traces on CUCM and the phone really gets its tftp file. Those 4 messages loop and phone displays : "Phone Not Registered". In the CUCM Admin page, the registration status says : Unknown..
    Does anyone have an idea?
    Thank you

The usual issue when SIP phones do not register is when there is no line configured on the device.  SIP phones require a line number to be configured if they are not auto registering because the phone has to learn of it's directory number from the TFTP config file so that it knows what to put in the SIP REGISTER message.  Double check that there is a line set on the device in CUCM and if there's not add one and the phone should register.

Page 7 of the following link recommends that you use option 150 with the Cisco 7800 series phones and use option 66 if you cannot use option 150

    Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
DHCP dynamically allocates and assigns an IP address to network devices.
DHCP enables you to connect an IP phone into the network and have the phone become operational without your needing to manually assign an IP address or to configure additional network parameters.
DHCP is enabled by default. If disabled, you must manually configure the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and a TFTP server on each phone locally.
Cisco recommends that you use DHCP custom option 150. With this method, you configure the TFTP server IP address as the option value. For additional supported DHCP configurations, go to the "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol" chapter and the "Cisco TFTP" chapter in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager System Guide.
    Note
If you cannot use option 150, you may try using DHCP option 66.

In the flash , there is no configuration file telephones.
Can you tell me how? because the phones do not register.

You need to have IOS feature set  along with license. Licneses are RTU /honour based.

    Hi lkgallagher24,
If you are talking about registering your own phone number with iMessage, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Phone display message "Phone not registered" every 30 seconds.

working with cucm 9.1 with demo licenses I have registered phones 8945
which may be the error and possible solution for this type of error?

    Hi,
For phone registration issues it would be nice if you can get a parallel set of captures from the IP phone and CUCM to which the phone is registered. This will show if any packet / signaling loss is happening between the two. Besides this you can check the console logs from the 8945 and also look for any hardware related issues by changing the switchport or the ethernet cable.

  • CUCM 8.6.2 Phones not registering 7841 and 8831

    Hi all
I am trying to register some new phones - 7841 and 8831.  We installed the COP and Device Pack and rebooted the cluster.  Firmware defaults in the server are sip78xx.10-1-1SR2-1 and sip8831.9-3-3-5.
These are the first phones of these models that we are trying to use.  All other devices are up and working.  I added the phones manually, auto-reg is disabled.  These new phones are both displaying the same behavior - they booted, but neither device will register.  They are both running the the same firmware version configured as the default in the server.
I have looked at some other discussions but haven't seen any solutions that match up with our issue.   Your input and ideas appreciated, thanks

I'm having this same problem. Over the weekend, I installed the latest device packs and restarted both servers in the cluster. I'm running CUCM 8.6.2 and the phones are 8831.
What's really strange is that the phone is getting incorrect info from the switch port. It's getting a DHCP address from the VLAN2 subnet, when it should be receiving an IP from the VLAN100 subnet.
    VLAN2 = Data
    VLAN100 = Voice
    The original port config:
    interface FastEthernet0/25
description Workstations on VLAN2 - Phones on VLAN 100
     switchport access vlan 2
     switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
     switchport trunk native vlan 2
     switchport mode trunk
     switchport voice vlan 100
     srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20
     srr-queue bandwidth shape 10 0 0 0
     mls qos trust device cisco-phone
     mls qos trust cos
     auto qos voip cisco-phone
     spanning-tree portfast
    end
I even changed the switch port configuration to this:
    interface FastEthernet0/25
description Workstations on VLAN2 - Phones on VLAN 100
     switchport access vlan 100
     switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
     switchport trunk native vlan 100
     switchport mode trunk
     switchport voice vlan 100
     srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20
     srr-queue bandwidth shape 10 0 0 0
     mls qos trust device cisco-phone
     mls qos trust cos
     auto qos voip cisco-phone
     spanning-tree portfast
    end
VLAN 2 isn't even in the configuration, but the phone (even after a RESET) is still getting an IP from the DHCP server on VLAN2.
    Very strange behavior.
    Additional info:
The phone status menu is showing a continuous message of:
    TFTP Timeout : SEPXXXXXXXXXXXX.cnf.xm.
    No Trust List Installed.
Any suggestions / ideas would be appreciated.

  • EX60 will not register to CUCM 8.6(2)

    Hello,
I am trying to register a new EX60 to a CUCM 8.6(2) server, but the provisioning continually fails.  IP connectivity is verified, and both the server and endpoint configurations are correct based on this document:  http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/endpoint/codec-c-series/tc5/administration_guide/administering_endpoints_running_tc5_on_cucm8-6.pdf

  • Cisco SIP Phone 9971 will not register on CME 8.6

    Hello,
I'm trying to configure a  Cisco SIP Phone 9971,
but it won't register on CME 8.6, which is running on a 2811
The Phone shows this error message: Phone Not Registered.
And when I check the the Status Messages in the Phone, I see the following:
VPN Error: vpn is not configured
Actually, it shows all these 4 messages in a constant Loop:

    12:01:59a Updating Trust list
12:02:00a VPN Error: VPN is not Configured
It seems that this VPN Error is keeping the Phone from registering.
This is repeated for ever and the Phone never registers; at least that's what it appears.

This sh voice register pool  seems to indicate that the Phone has actually registered.
But I still get the  Phone Not Registered   message on the screen!
I did some Debugs and they also seem to indicate that the Phone has indeed registered:

So frankly, I have no idea why the Phone keeps showing the Phone Not Registered message.
    I'm pasting the Router's config.
I hope somebody is able to point me in the right direction.
Here is the config.  Thank you!

VPN is not Configured prints on all phones now with the built-in VPN client if VPN isn't configured.  That's normal and is just cosmetic.  That should not be causing your registration issues.

  • Cisco 9971 "not registered" after Reset on CUCM 9.1

    Hello everyone,
we are experiencing a strange problem with 9971 phones:
We have two CUCM 9.1 clusters
Our production-cluster: Publisher, 3 Subscribers, dedicated TFTP, Unity Connection, CUPS
and our Lab environmant: Publisher, 1 Subscriber, TFTP on Publisher, Unity Connection, CUPS
In our production environment, 9971 phones work fine
In our lab environment, 9971 also work fine at first, but after some hours, sometimes days, or after a phone is resettet manually via CUCM administration the phone won't register anymore. After the phone is rebooted, the display briefly shows the correct directory number and line but they disappear immediatley and the phone is stuck with "Phone not registered" after that. The only way I can get the phone to register again after that is to completely reset all settings on the phone.
Both clusters are located within the same subnet, as well as the phones use the same voice vlan (manual tftp setting in both cases). It doesn't seem to be a network-related issue.
I have tested the same devices with both clusters, so the devices themselves seem to work properly too.
Has anyone experienced this sort of problem before? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Matthias

    Hi Mark,
best I can provide you with at the moment is this:
    Status Messages on the phone:
    Updating Trust List
    Trust List Updated
    SEPE840....cnf.xml.sgn (http)
VPN Error: VPN is not Configured
Also,  I have captured some Wireshark Traces. I took  one phone that was  registered and sent a reset request from the CUCM  Web-Interface. The  phone then rebooted and got stuck with "Phone not  registered" as I  described in my first post.
I unplugged the LAN  cable, put it  back in and captured what happened while the phone tried  to register  using a Span port at my access switch. You can find the pcap file attached to the first post.
    Thanks
    Matthias

  • Cisco 7821/7841/7861 - Missing Softkeys while phone is On-Hook

    Hey all,
We just deployed over 300 Cisco 7821 IP Phones in our cluster over the weekend. Most (not all) of our users are reporting that the softkeys are missing and that looks to be the case. I have reset the phone, manually set the Softkey template to Standard User. Not sure what else to try. Any ideas?
    Firmware version: sip78xx.10-1-1SR1-4
    CUCM Version: 9.1.2.11900-12
    Thanks,
    John

Figured it out. It turns out that if the "Disable Speakerphone" checkbox is checked in the Phone Configuration page, this will remove the Softkey options on the display.
I reported to this to TAC and they said that this normally greys out the softkeys but not removes them. So it appears to be a bug. Will report Bug ID once I have it.
