Cisco 7921 Wireless DCHP Timeout after loosing connection

Running 7921
AP 1200 Software Version 12.3(4)JA
I'm having a problem that after I set the phone up. Everything comes up fine and works great but whenever I hit a deadzone or if it looses connection, the phone will try to configure the IP and then it gives me a DHCP timeout and never connects again. If I reset my TFTP settings it then works again. How can I prevent this?

Yes per my 7921G Deployment Guide @ http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7921g/6_0/english/deployment/guide/7921dply.pdf, you need 12.3(8)JEA or later to run the 7921G phone successfully.
12.3(8)JEC is ok for the 1230, but would suggest 12.4(3g)JA1 or later for the 1240.
For static WEP, need to ensure the keys on the AP and the client match. If you have 2 keys where one is tx on key 1 and the other is on key 2, then the other side needs to have the same key to be able to decrypt the packets.

  • Smb2 of 10.9 is not working again after loosing connection by standby rules or because it was untouched for hours

if the computer went to standby or is untouched for hours the smb connections are dissappeared from finder.. even an open finder windows on an inner directory of such a connection is then empty. I am used to that.
Before 10.9 I could then with cmd + k (go to - Server) reconnect to the smb-Server.
Now this is not working anymore, instead there is a window which is telling me that there is a problem and I should go asking my administrator...
At first I thought the self implementation of smb2 is a good thing - it felt running a bit faster - but in that way  it is unusable :  I have to restart my Macbook or my Mac Mini to get back a working connection - and I cannot resist to say : such thing is not happening with MS Windows :-(
Is there any trick out there to work around this problem - actually I got to ask: Am I the only one who is experiencing this problem ?
    Many thx
    Best Regards,
    Andre

I found the reason the downgrade was not working. It had to do with restrictions of compressed files in the firewall, I allowed compressed files though and it downgraded just fine.
So... as far as I am concerned that fixes the problem for now. Unfortunately it seems that the ndiswrapper business is not getting any better since the last two upgrades broke my wireless (and I'm sure countless others out there).

  • Reconnecting to the session after loosing connection

    Hello Experts,
I've done some work within an transaction, not saved it and i've lost the network connection. I connected to SAP again, and as I see in sm04, my previous session is still there. Now I want to get this session back to continue the work. Very very long time ago, I known the possibility to do it, but now I cant remember. Please help me ... ;-).

    hi,
sm50 are processes. if in the lost session nothing happens what need a DIA-Process, nothing is shown. Beside this I dont see an option for 'take over'.

  • Loose connection while only using text chat

I realize there are allready a few threads on just randomly loosing connection, but seem to be fairly technical, and seem to deal with audio and video chats causing the trouble.
Sometimes not for hours but sometimes several times an hour i get that message "Lost connection with AIM, the connection to host unexpectedly lost." I know it does it everytime my computer goes to sleep, so now i set my computer not to go to sleep. After quite a bit of effort I changed my router and computers to static ip address. This helped alot with the entire network connection not being cutoff ( mail, safari) as often as it used to, but iChat still boots me off.
It also looses it connection sometimes and dosnt tell me. Ill be talking talking and realize the person I was talking to's messages havnt been displayed on my screen in like 5 minutes, and they havnt gotten the messages ive been sending. I find it strage that i can be typing and sending messages and iChat dosnt realize the other person isnt getting them.
My soulution to this problem is switch to offline then back to available and viola! it works. But it is socially awkward to not know if the person is not responding or if the messages just are not getting through.
    I forwarded ports 5060, 5190, 5220, 5222, 5678, to themselves and 1384 to 16403. That didnt help (Not that I have noticed)
Im beggining to think the solution is go back to using AIM
And I had so much faith in my powerbook when i dropped over $2x10^3 on it.
Any suggestions that dont require alot of networking experience?
Is there any way to keep that dialogue box from poping up to tell me it lost the connection? I can see i lost it from my buddy list, and I hate that one extra mouse move and click to get back to the program (safari did this in panther when you were not connected, and i was so glad that it dosnt in tiger). Is there anyway to make it automatically try to sign back on like the FREE AIM software does?
The other problem related to this is iChat quits responding while trying to sign on. After loosing connection and sometimes when i first start the computer and try to connect the first time I get that spinning color wheel and it dosnt go away. Esc option apple does not work and i have to apple tab to finder then click the apple and select force quit to get it to stop.
Once again I had so much faith in this apple stuff Seems to me it dosnt work that much better than windows.
    Thanks alot
    Grey
By the way, Just before i submited this i got the connection alert for the second time since i started writing this post. And to submit this post i had to use force quit on iChat, then turn my airport off then on to get it going again.

Im not 100% on the networking vocabulary. Let me clairfy, In my router setting "DHCP server" is disabled. Im not sure if that means between the router and the cable modem or the router and the computers. But i do know that the router's ip is always the same 192.168.1.1
I dont know how to access the settings in the modem.
The only thing i did to change the ports is I forwarded ports 5060, 5190, 5220, 5222, 5678, to themselves and 1384 to 16403 in the router's advanced settings.
Thanks for trying to help me Ralph, sorry if i dont fully understand your questions.

  • I have a new lion server and 4 lion laptops. The laptops loose connection to the shared documents and printers from the server after roughly 1 hour. By disconnecting and re-connecting wireless the connection is regained to shares and printers

I have a new lion server and 4 lion laptops. The laptops loose connection to the shared documents and printers from the server after roughly 1 hour. By disconnecting and re-connecting wireless the connection is regained to shares and printers. We can still surf the web when it goes down.

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • My wireless mouse for my iMac keeps loosing connection. Started after I was having problems with computor not waking up and I put the the setting to "never". Anyone having same problem?

My wireless mouse for imac keeps loosing connection. Started after I was having truoble with computor not waking up and I put the setting to "never sleep". Any suggestions?

If it's an Apple mouse, make it "Favorite" in Bluetooth preferences.
If it's not, the same thing might help, too, but if the problem continues it could be a driver issue (possible incompatibility with your OS X version).

  • Cisco 7921: loose the network

    Hi everybody,
I'm a french cisco solutions user since three month and I've got problem with one IP phone (cisco 7921). I can't find informatrion in France relative to my problem so I leave a message in this forum.
I explain: One of my 7921 phones disconnect ten time an hour and during conversations. Sometimes, people who call on this phone are redirected to the answer message.
This phone is connected through WIFI network and Cisco Callmanager 4.2 manage all phones (we have about 80 phones on the network). I thought it was a problem with the phone but I exchange with another one and it's exactely the same problem. The problem is just for a line in particular.
All the 7921g phones in my company are configured from mac address in the call manager.
This problem occured after a storm but I'm not really sure that it's related to...
have you ever encountered this problem ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Stephane Hardy

I have seen this behavior - and related symptoms - if the WLAN is has a coverage hole or other misconfiguration. The only answer I can really provide for such a general/broad problem report is to refer you to the Voice over Wireless LAN Design Guide. VoWiFi is extremely touchy and requires a carefully engineered wireless network for reliable performance. You may want to consider moving this thread into the wireless area of the forum if you need more specific wireless troubleshooting assistance.
One easy way you can watch for this is to set the Out-of-Range Alert on the Device Configuration of your 7921 within CUCM. The phone will beep whenever it looses contact with the AP. This isn't an end-to-end test, all it can do is draw attention to a lose of contact with the AP.

  • Support mobile wireless handsets on UC320, such as Cisco 7921/5?

The UC320 is great, a major improvement over the UC 520.  Can you talk about any plans to support mobile wireless handsets like the Cisco 7921 or 7925 on the UC320 so employees can be reached via local WiFi while walking around.
Also will the UC320 someday support a WiFi connection to the AP541N Wireless LAN Access Point?  Thanks.

The indecision Paul talks about in respect of the UC320W is in sharp relief to the Cisco OnPlus Agent and Service where there is community consultation on roadmap development and rapid delivery of these features.  I can only think Matthew is right and that Cisco thinks the features requested for the UC320W will bastardise their UC540/560 market.  At the lower end of that market they are probably right.  However, in my country a recent government report stated that 97 percent of all business enterprises employee less 19 people or less.  These enterpises employ around 80 percent of the working population.  By nature of their size these businesses simply cannot afford the UC500 range of products.  It is a huge market for a product of the UC320W's ilk but these business will not be fobbed off with a product like the current UC320W with a very limited range of features.
Right now the indecision in how this product is to develop means we do not sell it, albeit we believe it has great potential.  However, we can't sell potential without a defined and commited roadmap and commitment from Cisco to the product.  If not that, then please put us all out of our misery and EOL the UC320W.
Does the recently released SPA302D DECT handset have potential to be a DECT solution for the UC320W?
    Regards
    Stephen

  • TC Looses connection to the Internet for wireless device & new Apple TV

I have a new TC (1 TB) that I got within the last month or two, I use it as my Internet router behind my DSL modem. TC gets a DHCP address from my DSL modem then does NAT to both Ethernet and Wifi devices behind it. After a short period of time I have noticed that my Wifi devices (New Apple TV, Macbook Pro, & 2 Iphones) will loose connectivity to the Internet, although they never loose their Wifi connection. What is strange is that I have several hard wired Ethernet devices that can still access the Internet going through the TC at the same time the wireless devices can not.
In order to get the wifi devices back working I have done a few things, disconnected and reconnected the Ethernet cable between the TC and my DSL modem, power cycled the TC, power cycled my DSL modem. It seems like the most reliable method is power cycling the TC.
This seems to happen pretty frequently however with no pattern or cause I can detect. The only interesting thing is that I just installed my New Apple TV and prior to that I do not recall having to recycle the TC. I am inclined to think the TCP video streaming might be overloading the TC and causing the wireless process to crap out while the ethernet ports are fine.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Will do some more troubleshooting and will contact Apple support at some point. I will also update this thread when I find out more.

I have a similiar problem - but I don't have Apple TV - and when the TC looses internet connection it is for wired and wireless devices. WLAN and LAN still working.
At the same time i cannot access the configuration of the TC thru Airport - are you able to do this?
I also have the feeling that high data loads provokes the error more often.

My MacBook Pro persistently will not connect to my MiFi Verizon wireless router. The message "connection timeout" appears. What is a connection timeout and how can I fix?

    Hi there terri900!
You may want to try configuring your router settings to match the recommended settings for iOS and OS X devices, which can be found here:

Data Settings for Pay & Go and Pay Monthly
    (non iPhone tariff) customers
If you're a Pay & Go customer and have the iPhone OS 3.0 Software, you'll need to change your iPhone APN (data) settings. This will get features like mobile internet and picture messaging (MMS) working. Details below.
If you're a Pay Monthly customer but don't have the iPhone Bolt On, or a specific iPhone tariff, then you won't be able to get the full iPhone experience.
Here's what you'll need to do:
From the main screen of your iPhone tap Settings > General > Network
It has done thre same for UK pay and go:
    http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/settings.html
    Under Cellular Data Network
For Pay & Go customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter payandgo.o2.co.uk (Please note that "o2" needs to be written with a letter "o" and not a zero)
For Pay Monthly customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter mobile.o2.co.uk (Please note that "o2" needs to be written with a letter "o" and not a zero)
You don't need to change your username and password
Ignore the Visual Voicemail APN box - it's not available to Pay & Go customers or Pay Monthly customers (with a non iPhone tariff)
    Under MMS
For Pay & Go customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter payandgo.o2.co.uk (Please note that o2 needs to be written with a letter o and not a zero)
For Pay Monthly customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter wap.o2.co.uk (Please note that o2 needs to be written with a letter o and not a zero)
You don't need to change your username and password
Turn your iPhone off and on again
If you're a Pay & Go iPhone customer, using your iPhone sim for the first time, you'll need to top up by at least £10.

After I connect my iPhone (3GS 5.0.1) to any Ad-hoc wireless Network then walk away out of the reach of my wifi network, my iPhone can't find any wifi Network afterwards, only by turning off the iPhone completely and turning on again.
switching off wifi and on again or going into airplane mode did't help!
This problem happens only with ad-hoc wifi networks not with normal ones.
(Ad-Hoc network was created on XP Computer)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Sorry, but the 169.x.x.x IP address is internally generated by the iPod (and iPhone) and indicates that a network has been detected but no IP address has been issued. Your friends iPhone was not connected to your ad hoc network either - it connected to the internet through the 3G network.
You should read through the Vista help screens on ad hoc networking for some insight how this works. You should be able to get some ideas there.
In the mean time, $40 or less will buy you a very capable wireless router with four Ethernet ports and will simplify your network tremendously. Having used Windows ICS for a long time, the addition of a router and a real network simplified things so much.
