Cisco 7960 Config Password Reset?
Could anyone help me reset the config password of 7960? I bought the unit from Ebay, I got the phone reset to factory default already and I don't know the default password. Anyone? Thanks.
I've found this doc from a service provider offering a VoIP connection via SIP.
http://www.hablavoip.net/download/manuals/Guida%20Cisco%20CP7960_rev1-0.pdf
It is in italian, but you can easily see at top of page 5 it says the default password is "cisco".

Cisco Desktop Administrator password reset
Dear UCCX experts, since I configured a password in Desktop Work Flow Administrator, I cannot log into the application any longer (CDAU2016 The username or password ... in the CDA web interface).
I tried the password reset procedure as described in the CDA user guide but it does not work (this procedure is to reset the password with the postinstall application on the uccx server). We are in a HA configuration with two servers running UCCX 7.0(1)_Build168 on two 7825-I4-V01.
Thanks for the help.

Password-reset SM-ES2-24 issues.
Hi Everyone,
So i have an unusual issue here. I was able to successfully configure a SM-ES2-24 service-module on a Cisco 2911 router, however in that configuration i think i messed up the "line con 0" configuration to make it require local authentication to get in.
My issue now is that i did not use the "username admin password xxxx" command on the service-module. When trying to issue the "service-module gi1/0 password-reset" command it will not take me to the recovery process, it would only continue to ask me for a username/password.
Is there any way to force this service module to factory defaults, or load a blank config from the router onto the service module?
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.Thanks to Gian-Luca Casella for the information!
Had the same problem, but I am running IOS ver Version 15.3(2)T1.
I had to alter my commands like so:
aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default none
line 67
login authenticaion default
service-module g1/0 session
I was then able to get the Switch: prompt. -
PC22224 switch password reset OR anchor?
Is there a proven password reset procedure for the PC22224?
Or, has Linksys provided me with an anchor for my collection?
I've inherited a PC22224 switch here at work.
The original setup was done by someone now gone.
We have not been able to locate his setup notes.
This switch is not responding to the password reset procedure for the SRW switches (or I'm overlooking something).
I have console access.
The switch is booting OK.
I press ESC.
Get prompt: Boot>
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Message Edited by Cybersys on 05-13-2008 07:51 PMHere is the ONLY way I can find to RESET the admin password on a Linksys/Cisco PC22224
managed switch! It's not horribly complicated at all.
Basically, you download the software configuration file from a working switch of the exact
same model and upload it to the "broken" switch with the password you need reset!
First, you MUST have a working PC22224 switch that you KNOW its admin password!
Hook that switch up from the console to a computer that uses something similar to
Hyperterminal. There are plenty of instructions on how to do that in it's manual, so I
won't get off in that area!
Boot up and login as "admin".
Go to the "Advance Management" tab.
Select "File Transfer".
Select "Send File via Kermit"
Select the first file "S/W Config. File".
When you see "Transfer File Now?", select "Yes".
Now you must go to the top of Hyperterminal and
select the "Transfer" tab and then select "Receive File".
You should soon start transmitting a file (mine was called "aswcfg.rom").
It should show the file name. Remember the file name AND where it is transferring!
This is important, because you will need to know where to find it next when we start
sending it to your "broken" switch!
When it finishes, disconnect your AC and serial cable from that switch
and move them over to your "broken" switch that needs the password reset!
Boot up your "broken" switch, as soon as you see the prompts on the screen,
type "esc".
You should see a prompt that looks like this "Boot>"
Now, type "upload",
You should see "Start Kermit Upload Now" on the screen.
Now you must go back to the top of Hyperterminal and
select the "Transfer" tab and then select "Send File".
Select the file you just downloaded (mine was called "aswcfg.rom")
Once it finishes downloading it will flash the rom with the new code.
After it is complete, you can reboot the machine and log into the
admin account with the same password you used on the working
machine you downloaded the new code from!
Let me know if you have any problems!
You can send Jack Daniels or other kudos to me for this fix.

Is multi-factor auth required for self-service password reset and portal registration?
Hi, hoping someone can give some clarity on this. I'm dealing with strictly online accounts, no AD sync to local servers. I have enabled and configured self-service password reset in AzureAD. In that config I have required users to register
their alt contact info when logging into the portal. While testing this, I don't get prompted to register unless I've enabled multi-factor auth for the test user account. I need users to register in case they need to use SSPR, but I don't want
to force them into MFA. I've gone over the following article and it says nothing about requiring MFA for SSPR or forced portal registration to work.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn683881.aspx
I know there is a separate link for the registration portal that will guide users through the process, but that's a separate link. Maybe they'll set it up, maybe they won't. I'd like for the first sign-on to be a smooth process that gets them
set up for SSPR if needed. Can someone clarify and point me in the right direction? Thanks.Hey acook15,
I work on the password reset engineering team. Right now, you are correct, you cannot enforce registration for password reset during first sign in. This is a feature that we are working on right now, which will be available very soon for sign
ins to Azure, your connected apps, and the access panel, and will come a bit later for Office 365 sign ins, as well.
In the interim, you can configure SSPR to require users to register when they access the access panel at myapps.microsoft.com by following the instructions here: http://aka.ms/customizesspr (search for "Require users to register when signing in to the
access panel?").
You can also read more about other ways to get SSPR data in the system for your users here: http://aka.ms/ssprbestpractices. Let me know if this helps, and if you need to get in contact with me, feel free to email me at [email protected]
Regards,
Adam.

Hello everyone!
Im trying to figure out why password reset is failing all the time. We have two servers in our environment. 1 for FIMSync and service, and 1 for SSPR. There is no firewall on, DCOM and WMI is verified, SPN is all setup, SSPR registration is working fine.
When we try to reset a pwd we reach the SSPR portal just fine, type in username, receive a OTP on SMS, type in new password twice and then hit an error. From the event log on SSPR server this is the only thing going on: (There is no event on the FIMSync
server).
Failure to connect to FIM Service
The web portal failed to connect to the FIM Service.
Ensure that (1) the FIM Service is running, (2) the FIM Service server address is correct in the web.config file on the web portal, and (3) that network connectivity is available between the web portal and the FIM Service over the designated port.

Unable to see the "Password Reset" tab in Indentity Store (SAP IDM 7.1)
I am trying to implement Password self-service as per the document "SAP NewWeaver Idenitty Management Identity Center Self-service password reset Implementation Guide" Version 7.1 Rev 2. In this guide, references are made to the Password Reset Tab in the Identity Store properties view in Identity Center. I do not see that tab in my view.
I followed the standard inst guides during the upgrade. Its a fresh implementation and we are on IDM 7.1 SP5
I have checked out couple of similar posts where it was resolved by installing SP3/4, does anyone have any other solution than applying the SP again ??
What do I need to do to have that tab?
ThanksMatt,
Ours is a fresh installation
According to the PSS 7.1 V2 guide, i completed the section 1 where i creted the UME roles and the
Section 1: Creating the tasks
Creating the folder for the tasks
Creating the password reset task
Creating the password reset failed task
Then started the Section 2 Configuring the identity store and the first point the document says is "Select the identity store in the console tree and choose the "Password reset" tab: " which i am unable to see the tab in my system.
I am i missing some config steps here ? again i am just goin line - by - line what the doc says
Thanks

Hi all,
I'm very new to WCS and the bloke that configured the bludger has left the company. I'm trying to get into it but I don't have the correct username/password combination.
My query is: How does one do a password reset on a WCS server? Or failing that, is there a way I can ascertain the current unknown passowrd?
I have access to the actual server itself, but not the WCS application. Searching around Cisco.com shows that apparently there is a utility that can be used to reset usernames and passwords however I can't seem to find it. I'm not sure if it helps, but the WCS version is: 4.2.62.11
Any and all help will be appreciated and rated as such.
Thanks,
BradAll,
I found this in a wireless thread, ASK THE EXPERT:
Re: ASK THE EXPERT - WIRELESS CONTROL SYSTEM
I understand it's the login password that you want to reset on your WCS primary for GUI login.
Stop the WCS server :
C:\Program Files\WCS6.0.132.0\bin\StopWCS
Then run the root-user command:
C:\Program Files\WCS6.0.132.0\bin\passwd root-user PASSWORD
Start the WCS server:
C:\Program Files\WCS6.0.132.0\bin\StartWCS.
If this fails, please post your error messages from the CLI.
seems to work just fine!

CustomLoginModule just bypassing password reset scenario at first logon
Hello,
We have developed a CustomLoginModule by extending AbstractLoginModule (to check userid & passwords as some custom requirements ) as shown below
public boolean login() throws LoginException{
IUserAccountFactory userAccountFactory =UMFactory.getUserAccountFactory();
IUserAccount ua=userAccountFactory.getUserAccountByLogonId(userName);
IUserAccount mutableAccount = userAccountFactory.getMutableUserAccount(ua.getUniqueID());
if(mutableAccount.isPasswordChangeRequired())
mutableAccount.setPasswordChangeRequired(true);
mutableAccount.commit();
if( !ua.checkPassword(passWord) )
throwNewLoginException("invalid password");
try
refreshUserInfo(userName);
refreshUserInfo(passWord);
} catch (SecurityException e) {
throwUserLoginException(e);
successful = true;
return true;
} //end of login() method
After adding this login module to ticket stack , It was working fine for existing portal users.
Issue is with new portal users logging in for first time, It was skipping through initial password reset scenario and giving access to the portal content
Any clues to fix this issue? (and any UME config paramterters need to be changed)
Thanks
MadhuWhat does it mean..?? I am using my own custom xsl.

I am following the password reset procedure for the AIM-IPS module in a 2811 Router.
I enter the commnd "service-module ids-sensor 0/1 reset" after I suspended a session, then i return to the session, but the only think there is the username prompt. It never changes to show the bootloader information and the "When prompted for boot options enter *** quickly" sentence.
Doesn anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong? I've tried it from a shutdown state and from a steady state. I get prompts that the state is changing such as
c2811#service-module iDS-Sensor 0/0 reset
Use reset only to recover from shutdown or failed state
Warning: May lose data on the the NVRAM, nonvolatile file system or unsaved configuration!
Do you want to reset?[confirm]
Trying to reload Service Module IDS-Sensor0/0.

Thanks in advance for any help.Hello there,
I am having the same issue as mike miller.
Let me explain my problem. I set the passwords some time ago and they were working, but then we rolled back the ios to another version, because some eigrp failures has occured. So the IPS was not detectable on that router. Few days ago I have upload another ios, with ips module support (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICEK9-M, 12.4.(22)T5, also 12.4.15XY3), but I cant login to ips anymore. IP adress stayed the same, passwords as well, but they're not working. So I tried to do a password recovery, but has the same result as mike.
CLI output when trying to reset the module :
Sit-Man1#service-module idS-Sensor 0/0 reset
Use reset only to recover from shutdown or failed state
Warning: May lose data on the the NVRAM, nonvolatile file system or unsaved configuration!
Do you want to reset?[confirm]
Trying to reload Service Module IDS-Sensor0/0.
changing state from: SERVICE_MODULE_STATE_STDY to SERVICE_MODULE_STATE_ERRQ
CLI output with module status :
Sit-Man1#service-module idS-Sensor 0/0 status
Service Module is Cisco IDS-Sensor0/0
Service Module supports session via TTY line 194
Service Module is trying to recover from error
Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled
Service Module is in fail open
Service Module status is not available
After this "recover" module goes to Steady mode and ip address replies.
Sit-Man1#service-module idS-Sensor 0/0 status
Service Module is Cisco IDS-Sensor0/0
Service Module supports session via TTY line 194
Service Module is in Steady state
Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled
Getting status from the Service Module, please wait..

Was trying to disable heart-beat, enable it again, shutdown module before reset, tried 3 different IOS versions, power off the router. None of this did help so far...
Any ideas?

Password reset on a older ASA-SSM-20
Hi I have takken over a running ASA with a ASA-SSM-20
but nowhere can i find the password
and the asa is running 8.0.3 but the SSM is only running 5.1
so the command hw-module module x password-reset dosn't work
anybody there have an idea how to fix it
thanks in advanceIn that case then the only way to recover
the password is to perform a re-image of the AIP-SSM.
You can perform the re-image via tftp using the commands
'hardware-module module 1 recover configure' and then 'hardware-module
module 1 recover boot'

ASA5505 SSC-5 Password Reset Failing
I have tried to reset the password on the SSC-5 module using the command below,but I always fails.
hw-module module 1 password-reset noconfirm
When the SSC-5 comes back online and I try to login using the default username and password of cisco, it fails with Login incorrect.
ASA5505 running version 8.4(4)1 asdm 6.4(9)
IPS version 6.2(4)E4Well, that should have worked. Is is possible that password recovery has been disabled?
If so, then it would look as though the command would work but it will not.
You may have no other choice but to reimage the sensor module. -
The username/password has been lost to our IPS module.
I used the ASDM menu option to reset the IPS password but nothing happened other than the IPS module resetting.
Is there something more I need to do to reset the password on the IPS module other than selecting "reset IPS" in ASDM?

i have a cisco 7960 ip phone attached to my network aboard a naval ship. it is registered to a cisco call manager located at camp pendleton. i put in all the configurations verifed then with know working phones aboard another ship. all the settings match aside from the network related configs. the phone will go throught the configuration process and will give an error "tftp retry: sep with the mac" i created an access-list allowing all traffic from the call manager into the network. i have tried more then 1 phone with more then 1 cable on more then 1 port. there is a configuration or something i am missing that is causing the tftp retry error. any inside would be helpfull.
Semper FidelisUsually, the phone doesn't get an image file if the server is not reachable. Or the CCM does not have the image that the phone is requesting. My first step would be to ensure that the CCM is reachable from the network. I'm sure a few other things would be broken if that were the case. And if you have remote access to the CCM you can confirm the server has the correct image file.
If all else fails thereafter, a confirmation of the DHCP server is needed. And/or you may need to download the image file from Cisco again for the 7960 phones.
