Cisco accounting solution

Dear all
I am looking for a good accounting software to control my users to access to internet
i use proxy service and vpn for some other users to access to internet
i am using cisco asa for this purpose
i check cisco acs but it not very suitable for this puprpose
does cisco has any other application for  this issue or you recommend third party application?
Best Regards

Hi,
Can you please elaborate on what you end goal is? Accounting service is just a way of tracking what users go where and has nothing to do with enforcement. You can also use accoutning for billing services and this takes place after the client has been authenticated.
Please do explain what you are looking for so we can provide the answer you are looking for.
Thanks,
Tarik

  • Cisco conferencing solution vs competitors

    Hi,
Anyone here has experience deploying video over IP (Cisco Unified) vs competitors such as Microsoft Live Communication Server? I know that this is a Cisco forum, but I am wondering whether one has indication on which vendor has been more widely available at this point.

    Hi Sasith,
I would advise you to reach out to your Cisco Account team that can involve Cisco Sales Engineers that can provide you wit the information about the entire product line and features available. This Community support MeetingPlace and Cisco WebEx Meetings Server (CWMS) solutions.
MeetingPlace integrated with WebEx has a Webinar option, but it doesn't have this functionality when it comes to registration. You can schedule a Webinar kind of a meeting and send invitation to everyone. However, there is no possibility of managing registrations etc. You can schedule a meeting but you cannot specify the size of the meeting during scheduling. Presenter's Video can be shared as well as have participants being able to talk within the conference. Users should be able to log in from any device.
CWMS product doesn't have a Webinar option at this time.
I hope this will help at least a little bit.

This is an opportunity to learn and ask more questions about Cisco Trustsec solution. The Trustsec solution is designed to flatten the network regardless of the access method but still provide fully distributed and differentiated access control no matter whether you are coming from wired or WiFi or remote access, the Trustsec solution provides a consistent access control policy.

Hi Marvin, first, you would want to ensure the router or switch you use has support for SG-ACLs and enforcement via:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/enterprise-networks/trustsec/trustsec_matrix.html
One you know that works, you can configure SG-ACLs with a source or destination on "unknown". This keyword indicates traffic where we cannot discover what SGT should be assigned to that traffic, or in other words, outside the trustsec domain. We use a relatively common command-set on enforcement supporting platforms, take a look at the following link for command syntax:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/trustsec/configuration/guide/trustsec/sgacl_config.html
Let me know if the unknown tag was what you were looking for!

  • Is the Cisco AirSpace solution the best one out there?

I have been evaluating WLAN solutions and have narrowed the choice down to two; AireSpace (Cisco) and Aruba. The one thing I really like about Aruba's system is that access points can be configured as IDS sensors only, which would eliminate some of the performance problems associated with AP's that also act as sensors. Can the Cisco Airespace solution enable AP's as sensor only? I am concerned that a busy access point will not be able to detect rogue devices.

An Airespace AP can be configured to do rogue detection and sniffing/monitoring functionality only.

  • If we got Nexus 1000V from VMWARE , can we add the N1K to our CCO ( Cisco Account ) to have direct support from Cisco

    Hi
If we got Nexus 1000V from VMWARE , can we add the N1K to our CCO ( Cisco Account ) to have direct support from Cisco
as sometimes it take some more time to get answer from VMWARE -> Cisco
    Thanks

No.  When you purchase support from Vmware, they are your support contact and they will escalate support to Cisco on your behalf if needed.  This is the case for all OEM support.  Cisco provides support for RHEL, Microsoft and VMware.  We follow the same practice.
Deciding who to purchase support from is a decision of single point of contact for all VMware & N1K related issues vs. maintaining separate support contracts with each vendor individually.

  • Meraki vs Cisco Wireless Solutions

Can anybody out there share any information on company called Meraki? We currently have a Cisco wireless solution but our administration has suddenly been looking into Meraki as a replacement. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks...

I actually have both product sets running- our main campus network has over 3,000 APs (Cisco) and we have a 6-month old Meraki installation on our London campus with 35 MR16 APs. While our lightwieght Cisco deployment has been mostly fine on the client-facing side of life, we have had a lot of angst with controllers (we've been in the game since 2006 on LWAPP/CAPWAP, with hundreds of Aeronet fat APs prior) and various code versions through the years. I also follow the industry pretty closely as an IT writer, and so have watched the likes of Aerohive get more interesting (also controllerless) and architectures like Motorola's WiNG 5 greatly de-emphasize the controller. Personally, I've become a lot more open-minded about the cloud and cynical about the expense and grief of controllers. But it's far from black and white- there is no "this is clearly better than that", especially when you've got a wild mix of client devices that just want the network to work and could care less whose label is on the AP.
Bake-offs have validity, but more so (to me) on the "how easy is it to administer" perspective than "will it work for clients?" front. Both our Meraki and Cisco environments nicely serve our clients in dense environments- if they didn't, they wouldn't stay in business. The interference detection and reporting is somewhat overmarketed (again, my opinion) as often interference sources are fleeting and you can't possibly react to every one. Meraki has provided a lot of for things like rate limiting, firewalling, a great guest portal (I can't speak favorably of Cisco's guest portal at all, and BlueSocket has the absolute best I've seen yet) that our Cisco controllers don't do without help from outside boxes- but if you already have those boxes you may not care. I do take Cisco to task on really clunky debug in the CAPWAP world, and there are often gaps between what you can do with WCS/NCS and what you have to do on the controllers directly. The point? Again, it's just not black and white.
For me, I would certainly go with Meraki again for deployments up to a certain size- like a few hundred APs- as one who is living the Meraki life currently and cringes at the price controllers fetch. It does flawless with 802.1x and has a pretty robust feature set in it (not sure why someone above is saying it doesn't)- if you need it. I've had zero problems since putting Meraki in where as I can't wait to get rid of my WiSMs in favor of 5508s (but really wish cisco would provide a VM-based controller like Bluesocket does), but both products have warts at times on the UI. Things I've griped about Meraki was quick to address or put on the short road map, Cisco not so much but eventually they resond to enough grousing. (Yes- my opinion only)
Enough rambling- I'd say visit customers that have both, and don't discount either until you do. Cisco has market share, Meraki is part of the interesting new guard that dares to do things differently. They both work, but you have to find what's right for you.

  • Firefox with multiple system accounts: solutions or alternatives?

The subject isn't exactly clear but I couldn't think of a good way to summarize the issue.
I want to share a subset of Firefox bookmarks, extensions, settings and search plugins across different system accounts.
For example, I have a bookmark hierarchy with directories named foo, bar and baz. I want to keep bar and baz synchronized across multiple accounts but I want foo to remain private for a given account. I want to have extensions x, y and z installed on all accounts with the same settings, but I want extension w only on one account.
General and plugin settings are easy enough to do with user.js.
Interface settings, extensions and search plugins can be shared with some scripting and rsyncing but that's a minor pain.
Sharing a subset of bookmarks is major pain. Either I have to automatically export HTML bookmarks files, write a parser, copy the subset around, import it manually with each account, and finally arrange the imported bookmarks in the hierarchy or I have to open each account in the same X session and copy+paste bookmarks between accounts.
I could probably write a script to  extract and insert what I want in places.sqlite3, but I don't want to rely on the stability of the database format with the new release plan.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Firefox Sync is not an option because I do not want to share everything.
At this point I'm open to alternatives, but there is some functionality that I'm not willing to give up:
    * NoScript (per-site Javascript and Flash blocking)
    * RequestPolicy (per-site permissions for loading content from other sites)
    * Cookie Monster (per-site cookie permissions)
    * Add to Search Bar (easily add any search form to the search bar)
    * Organize Search Engines (create hierarchical structures of aforementioned search engines)
I've started considering Chrome but the matching extensions don't seem to be mature enough yet (e.g. Request Maker is based on RequestPolicy, but the author admits it lacks features). Besides, I don't really want to rely on the Google apps store if I can avoid it.
I looked at uzbl too, but the script-blocking scripts apparently fail sometimes because uzbl lacks hooks. An unreliable script-blocker is a no-go for me.
tl:dr; need suggestions for something that lets me:
    * control outgoing requests from browser
    * control code execution in browser
    * synchronize subsets of bookmarks, extensions, search engines
    * organize bookmarks and search engines
p.s. Life would be so much easier if Firefox didn't pack shit into SQLite databases like it was playing Tetris.  Just give me some decent command-line options and simple configuration file formats ffs.

ngoonee wrote: I don't use bookmarks AT ALL.
    oO
What do you use instead? Memory and auto-completion?
This did give me an idea... I could just as well write a basic server to host my bookmarks and run that as a daemon.
As for the suggestions so far:
    * Pentadactyl: I'll look into it, but installing it would be a bit like buying a car just for the seat.
    * Xmarks: that might do what I want, but I don't like the idea of storing all of my bookmarks on  a third-party server and I definitely don't want to let them collect data about me as per their ToS.
    * xxxterm etc.: I'll look into those.
    Thanks!
I'll post an update as soon as I decide on a solution.

  • Need Help on Cisco Wireless Solution!

    Hello Netpros!
I have some issues that probably most of wireless implementers faced after implementing a wireless solution. This is an actual feedback from the customer and These issues can be broken down to the following:
    1. The wireless Network is slow! (wireless performance)
The customer has Airtight in placed and airtight reports that users are mostly connected to the wireless network on 2 mbps speed. Users also says that their network experience using wireless are slow compared to wired network.
My question is what reports or guides that cisco wireless cotroller system or WLC can shows that proves the network is working as it is intended. Any guides on how to improve the user experience? Any guide from Cisco IT?
During these slowness, what reports from WCS or WLC that can best shows the problems and helps us implementers to mitigate the problem?
    2. Baseline Wireless Performance.
When asked about a baseline performance of wireless network, what reports from the WCS or WLC that can show this and what is the acceptable or baseline values?
    3. Is there a general guideline on how to use WCS or WLC reporting tools to troubleshoot a wireless performance issue? What reports to see? and how to translate that to say to the customer that the wireless network is under performing?
The main reasons i am asking these questions is because i cannot find any useful documents in cisco that guides the wireless implementers on how to use the reports generated by WCS or WLC when it concerns the performance of the wireless.
Most of the reports WCS generate that relates to the performance normally rounds up the AP performance, channel, noise, but how to translate that to user concerns is another matter.
Perhaps these issues are partly due to user expectations or maybe the wireless setup need to be tweaked or even might requires a spectrum analyzer to pinpoint interferences.
In either cases, I hope netpros can help direct me to good documentation albeit from cisco or other sources that can best outline wireless performance reporting using cisco wcs and wlc.
    Background information:
The wireless network setup has one WCS, one location appliance, 4 WLCs and around 150 to 200 APs, most running Local and some running HREAP. Most of the issues concerns the local type APs.
    Thanking all in advance!
    maldin

    Yup,
thats what we told the customer and even showed them the wlc/wcs reports.
Unfortunately, these customers are lacking in wireless knowledge and they want a streamlined, documented steps to generate the reports and also to help them understand in laymen terms.
At the moment we are formulating a holistic approach to the customer to get them understand wireless first, get them to have a policy and enforce and then drill down to management, reporting and troubleshooting.
The thing is, the wireless is always working fine, but sometimes so it happens some bigshots unable to connect to the wireless network in meeting rooms or somewhere and the become jumpy and pointing fingers.
So the IT manager wants to reduces the finger pointing by having the WLC/WCS to produce reports to them.

  • QoS Cisco SCE8000, Caching Cisco IronPort WSA, Loadbalancing Cisco ACE solution

    Hi all,
Our customer is a mobile operator. They need a integrated solution for caching, QoS and Loadbalancing in a combination. From my understanding of their goals, they need to providing stable and speedy broadband access as well as good user experience by the differentiation service offering. They need to classify IP traffic and prioritize and control of content-based services for a given subscriber while transparently and dynamically redirect and load balance the application level classified of IP traffic to a proxy caching server regardless of protocols such as http, https, ssl, ftp, flv, mms and rstp, sip, p2p....
Attached pls find the RFP and technical specification for Caching and QoS.
I appreciate your expertise to consult me whether I can propose for them the Cisco ACE standalone appliance or ACE engine module for 7600/6500 for loadbalancing, Cisco IronPort WSA for caching and dual Cisco SCE8000 for QoS as an integrated solution. Is this solution feasible/workable and where could I find the same reference or solution design or technical guidance on this?
Thanks a lot and would like to hear from you at the soonest!

    Hi all,
I wanted to know, if Cisco is planning on integrating the FIDO standard in its AAA products, specifically ACS and ISE.

We've got a SIEMENS HIPATH 3000 PBX system with 15 to 20 individual telephone lines coming in from the telecom operator into the FSO card of the PBX
We are planning to migrate to CISCO Call Manager and are also implementing an 3845 Router
I would like to know if there is an interface on the router into which these 20 RJ11 phone lines go or is there another option
How do I go about it ?

Thanks pk, I knew of the FXO Cards. However I do not think there is any FXO card that allows for 20 RJ11 individual phone lines

  • Why select Cisco Wireless solution?

I am trying to make my case for using Cisco controller and 1250 access points. How do I sell it to the audience, who is insistent that <$60 netgear or linksys wireless router may do just as good.

Some things that Cisco access points do that Netgear/Linksys etc... do not:
    1. Can handle large amounts of clients (~25 with 1130s/1240s, more with 1250s)
    2. Encryption is handled via hardware instead of software, which prevents the CPU from getting bogged down.
    3. Multiple SSIDs and VLANs, each with individual security settings, which allows for guest networks to be created.
    4. Can be powered by PoE, allowing you to deploy access points anywhere as desired (rather than requiring that it be installed next to an outlet).
    5. Can be managed centrally via the unified wireless network, allowing you to manage all your access points on a single device. This saves mega $$$ in management for large networks.
    6. Removeable radios in case the 802.11n standard requires it. If you're looking at 1250s, my guess is that you're looking at 802.11n Netgears. Since 802.11n isn't out yet, Cisco offers investment protection by allowing you to remove the modular radios and replace them should the final 802.11n standard require it.
    7. Along the same lines, the 1250 access point is used to test all 802.11n devices in the Wi-Fi Alliance certification process.
    8. Ability to do QoS, WDS, and many other advanced wireless designs.
I'm not a Cisco salesman either, but I used to work for a Cisco Reseller and did lots and lots of sales calls. The short answer to your question is that those little access points you get at the store are meant for the home and home-office settings and are not meant for business-class implementations. So if your business is small enough that one of those will work, go for it. But you get your money's worth by going with Cisco.
That said, that price tag makes it a tough sale, so best of luck to you :D

It sounds as though you have the cookie duration set to "Ask me every time" which is a good way to drive yourself crazy (I used it for years myself). I suggest accepting cookies until you close Firefox. This prevents sites from recognizing you between restarts of Firefox. To make this change, go to:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
Please see the attached screen shot.
To allow an individual site to remember you longer, you can customize its permissions. One way is to use the Page Info dialog. While viewing a page on the site you want to have this custom permission, use either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Permissions
Uncheck the "Use default" checkbox and choose "Allow". Then the site should be able to keep you logged in between sessions. This might not take effect until the next time you start Firefox.
