Cisco Active Advisor to be upgraded on Monday, January 5th at 11:00pm CT

Dear Cisco Active Advisor Users,
Cisco Active Advisor will be upgraded to a new version on Monday, January 5th, at 11:00pm CT.
During this time, the site will be unavailable for about 30 minutes.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thanks,
The Active Advisor Team

The PC does support 4Gb of ram, although it's the max it supports, it does support it.  I have read quite a bit about other people having this issue with other systems and I've gone all through my bios looking for SOME sort of option that I can at least play around with, but there's nothing there.  I've also upgraded the bios thinking that "maybe" it could be something with that.  The video card I'm using is a Nvidia Quadro NVS 420 512 Mb.  I've tried disabling IndirectMemoryAccess in my xorg.conf thinking that might be messing with it somehow, but it did nothing.  I just tried removing the video card altogether and running w/ the onboard video and alas! I recovered 512Mb, which I would be pleased with, but when I add the card back, the available ram disappears again.  So now my question is this...  Why would the kernel be reserving 512Mb of system ram for a card that has 512Mb of ram built in (at the same time not visibly acknowledging the fact that it exists)?  Is this maybe a kernel option that I can pass at boot to disable it from reserving the system ram?
I'm sorry about the lack of the bbcode tags btw, I'm a first timer to the forums (however an arch user for some time now).
Thanks again for any input, it's much appreciated!

The mods should get things sorted. at: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 . But be aware they take 3 working days to reply: sometimes more if busy.  That is pretty poor in your situation.  They have a good record of getting things solved once they are on the case.
    Good luck.

Thanks very much... I can't even say its a pain... 8.0(1a) at least sort of works... 8.5(1) absolutely does not... I would be hard pressed to even believe they tried an outbound call or even any call with it before they tossed it out for release... As you mentioned in base 8.0(1) variable passing didnt even work...  does Calabrio have like one utopian demo system they use it on with like a single dialer port for testing?
I think Cisco needs to do a better job of holding ther OEM partner to some continuing standards rather then certifying version 4.x and saying the rest are good.  At least Cisco could test it at a minimum!
I know there are plenty of VAR's that would happily do regression testing on behalf of the CCBU if asked

  • Upgrade to Cisco Active Advisor tonight at 9pm CDT

    Hello CAA users,
Cisco Active Advisor will be upgraded tonight at 9:00PM CDT.
During this time, we expect a brief downtime, of up to 5 minutes, so please excuse the interruption and try us again a few minutes following.
    Thank you,
    The CAA Team

If you want to maniuplate the update process you need to use the manual process over the automated. If you use the automated process we attempt to do the following. One host in each Cluster managed by the Nexus 1000V will be chosen for upgrade. This host will be put in maintenance mode, upgraded, removed from maintenance mode, and then move to the next host. I'm not sure how we choose the host in the cluster but in my setup where I use IP addresses as host names it uses the lowest number IP address first.
I can talk to engineering and see if it's possible, but we are constrained with what can be done based off the APIs that VMware makes available. Again if you want to control which ESX hosts are updated and when I would highly recommend using the manual method.

  • What's New in Cisco Active Advisor?

    Hello folks,
A new version of CAA is up, with a bunch of new features and bug fixes. Here’s a glimpse of the new features added recently.
    1) Delete devices
Devices on your inventory list can now be deleted.
Simply select the devices to delete and click the Trash icon at the top of the list.
You will be asked to confirm your delete request.
    2) Enabled Features
Quickly discover your devices’ enabled features using CAA! All IOS devices that enter your inventory list are now scanned for their enabled features.
In the device’s window, you’ll find a new tab named ‘Enabled Features’
Clicking this tab will show all the features that are enabled on your IOS device, ordered by Technology and Features.
Clicking on the various Technology names will open up a new window that shows all available features under that category.
    3) Line cards and modules
Good news! Now line cards and modules on your switches and routers will be discovered and displayed in CAA.
In the inventory list, some devices will have the line card and modules icon
This indicates that CAA has discovered line cards or modules on your chassis.
Clicking this icon will lead you to the list of discovered modules. There you will see its status information, as well as relevant lifecycle data.
When you go into the device overview window, click the same icon to see the line cards and modules list.
Please note that there is a color code to the line cards and modules icon.
Red indicates that CAA has found lifecycle alerts on one or more of your modules
Blue indicates that no lifecycle alerts have been found.
Please let us know what you think of these feature additions and of Cisco Active Advisor in general!
We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
    Thanks,
    The CAA Team

  • Upgrading from 80 gb 5th gen to 16gb touch

Compu-nube trying to upgrade from 80 gb 5th gen. video to a 16 gb iTouch and can't get any movies to load on touch. HELP PLEASE!!!

    Hello, Welcome to discussions.
You will want to first ensure your running the latest iTunes which is 8.0.2 at this time. You can check the version via iTunes Help - About iTunes.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You will also want to ensure your computer is authorized with your current iTunes store account. Even if you might be authorized you may want to try again to ensure
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
When you connect the iPod, and you get a summary screen. Check down below and see weather you are using manually manage or not. If is manually manage you will want to drag and drop to ipod touch. This is something you are probably used to doing at least once since you are a current iPod owner.
Check the Video Tab when iPod Touch is connected, and make sure you have Sync Movies checked, and then check the box of the movies you want on the touch. And press Apply or Sync.

  • Multiple Activity Codes lost after upgrade?

We just upgraded UCCX from 8.5.1 su3 to CUCM to 9.1(1a)
In UCCX 8.5.1 CAD we could select multiple Activity codes by holding down the CTRL key, since our upgrade we are not able to do so.
It seems that we have lost functionality, is there any way to turn this functionality back on?
    Thank you

FYI: TAC let me know that Cisco removed the functionality of selecting multiple Close Codes from the new version, Disapointing for us, to have Cisco remove a function that we used....
I have let our Cisco Team know our disproval......

    Regards,

    Hi igor,
    1) FDP image
Field-programmable devices (FPDs) are hardware devices implemented on router cards that support separate software upgrades. An FPD image package is used to upgrade FPD images
The FPD image package must be compatible with the Cisco IOS software that is running on the router. If an incompatibility exists between an FPD image package and the Cisco IOS software release running the router, the device with the FPD will not operate properly until the incompatibility is resolved.
The FPD automatic upgrade feature searches only for the FPD image package file that is the same version number as the Cisco IOS release being used by the system. For example, if the Cisco IOS release being used is Cisco IOS Release 12.4(5)T1, the system searches for the FPD image package file that supports the specific Cisco IOS release (c7200-fpd-pkg.124-5.T1.pkg).
    2) Steps to Upgrade:
From the document below which I already sent you, please refer to the section “How to Upgrade Field-Programmable Devices”
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/7200/configuration/feature_guides/fpd.html
I would recommend you to follow the steps in the “Field-Programmable Device Quick Upgrade (Automatic FPD Upgrade Only)” as that is the recommended and the easiest way.
    Steps are:
The command is present “upgrade fpd auto” in the running-config by default.
Have the Cisco IOS image in disk2:
Download the FPD image package to disk2: flash disk
Reboot the router using the new Cisco IOS release.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks
    Syed

  • Memory Usage And Hard Drive Activity Increase After Latest Upgrade

I have upgraded to Firefox 3.6.15 and latest Adobe Flash Player. Then i noticed that plugin-container started to take a lot of memory as much as Firefox itself totaling around 600Mb. Then i see hard drive activity intermittently slowing down my laptop and making it unresponsive for a short period of time. I have 50 tabs open. I have disabled Flash and since then plugin-container takes very little memory and i don't see consistent hard drive activity.
I need Flash and i don't want to disable it. Is there a solution to this?

I am seeking solutions for same problem.  When playing simple online games such as solitaire my memory usage for the plug in container is 300-600 mb while FireFox may only be 80-120 (with several windows or tabs open of mostly text pages). If I disable Adobe add-ons memory usage is greatly reduced. If I understood correctly it is possible to disable the plugin container and run adobe via the old method and another user thought that would solve the problem. I do not understand how it would make a difference but if you havent found a solution you may want to try it.  See these 2 threads in the Mozilla forum:
A question and brief  explanation  and   how to disable plugin container in config
I've previously had problems with Adobe crashing Firefox . At least now with Adobe being in the plugin container Firefox does not crash along with it.
I have another issue - I can sometimes still hear the music from a game after I have exited the game and closed the window. I would like to know how to release the resources used by Adobe - kind of like FireFox's RamBack.
Well, good luck to you (and me!)

  • Help! Recurrent "activation required" message after upgrade to iOS 8.1

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to iOS 8 (directly from iOS 7 to version 8.1). Ever since, my phone keeps giving me a message saying "Activation Required" (see images). I am able to activate my phone normally, if I'm logged in to iCloud I have to enter my e-mail and password every time (so I logged off from iCloud for now).
    The problem is:
    - This happens at least 10 times a day, even more.
    - The phone can only be activated on wifi (3G and LTE never work, although the phone gives me the option to try these)
    - When the activation is required and if I don't have wifi to do it, the phone is completely blocked - I can't get out of the activation page, no way to see my home screen or access any of the apps, not even the camera, nothing!
I've taken it to Apple store and first they told me to delete everything and start as a new phone. It didn't work. Then I went again and they did a "full delete" (a different way of resetting my phone as a new phone) and installed iOS 8.1 from one of their computers, which they said was different from doing it from my computer. The guy was sure he had solved my problem, but I got the activation message a few hours later.
Now Apple tells me it's a problem with my carrier. My carrier, of course, says this is a problem with the phone.
I don't know what to do! The phone is less than 1 year old and I had no plans to buy a new one in the next year or so...
Does anyone has the same messages?
Does anyone has an idea why my phone is asking for activation so often??
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Julia.
    iPhone 5
    iOS 8.1

I'm still having the same problem. I've been going to the Apple Store every week. I was able to talk to someone in my carrier store (Fido Canada) and the guy was really nice, he really tried everything, changed settings of the network, changed the IMEI number in their system (my iPhone has been replaced and their system still showed the old IMEI number). I went back a couple hours later and he had really done a lot of research and talked to people. The phone was ok for a couple of hours, but then asked for activation again.
I went to the Apple Store genius bar last week (4th or 5th time), I was ready to get a new phone but the guy told me he had found the issue. My phone was not registered with the carrier, where it should say "Fido Canada", it was empty. He was able to change that (network "elevation" or "escalation" or something like that), he checked again and it had been changed to Fido. The phone was working great for 4 or 5 hours this time, but then the activation screen came back. :-(
I don't know what to do anymore. I'm SURE it's not a problem with my phone, but it's a configuration issue, either with the carrier network or the software, but no one seems to know what to do!
Going back to the Apple Store this wednesday, hope someone will be able to figure this out!

  • Active Directory error using Upgrade Mgmt Tool - BI 4.1 sp 3

I am in the process of creating a new BI 4.1 SP 3 environment within out company.  The software has been installed and I wanted to perform a Complete Upgrade from our existing XI 3.1 sp5 environment into our new 4.1 environment.  Also, we are using Windows Active Directory authentication and AD groups for security.
The Upgrade Mgmt Tool fails with an Active Directory Error message similar to the one below:
Active Directory Authentication failed to get the Active Directory groups for account with ID <insert really long alpha numeric string here>; CN=<insert name of employee no longer working for the company>.  Please make sure this account is valid and belongs to an accessible domain.
Well, the account is not valid because this executive no longer works here.  Most likely within Active Directory all groups owned by this person were transferred over to his replacement.  Is there an way to have the upgrade mgmt tool bypass this validation check?  Or does anyone have any other suggestions how to get around this error?  Once this error occurs I can't upgrade.  I guess the alternative is to do an incremental upgrade, group by group, until I find the offending group but I was wondering if there was an easier way as that will be very time consuming.

@JRKPrasad  Thank your for your thoughtful and accurate response.  It took less than 2 minutes to update AD in BI 3.1.x and the UMT tool is off and running migrating content from BI 3.1 to our new BI 4.1 environment.
Again, thank you very much for reading my post and responding.  It was a huge timesaver.

    Hi Ahmed,
****Upgarde procedure keep the Old data and take you you to the New version *******
This  is an Upgarde Procedure ,however  if you use the  --install command during the Upgarde Procedure ,it will wipeout the old data and NAM will be like a factory Installed and then it will upgarded to New Version.
Follow the below link ,in the step 5:
Step 5 Upgrade the NAM application software as follows:
    DON NOT USE THIS
    root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url
where ftp-url is the FTP location and name of the NAM software image file
    or
    USE THIS ONE
    root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url --install
Note The --install keyword clears and recreates all of the NAM partitions; this action is similar to restoring the factory-default state. If you use the --install keyword, the previously stored reports and data (if any) will be lost.
