Cisco Air-SAP2602E-E with PoE Plus?

Hi to all,
Could be any situation in which the Access point AIR-SAP2602E-E-K9 would need PoE Plus (all four antennas transmiting maximum power, some radio speeds, etc)?
Thanks in advance.

Nope.
Only the end-of-sale 1252 and 3602 (when add-on modules are installed) require PoE plus.  Every other models are PoE only.

I was able to get dhcp from the Sonicwall with 192.168.1.0/24, but not from the SG500. I created a scope(192.168.2.0/24 for guest; 192.168.3.0/24 for internal users) I even created DHCP scope on the AP, but cannot get an IP from that either. I creatd an ACL to allow the 192.168.3.0/24 access elewhere, and denied 192.168.2.0 access to other but internet.
If I disabled all scopes on the Sonicwall, I get an APIPA from both AP/SG500. Any thoughts?

    What is your default VLAN?
On the AP, you configured VLAN 200 to be the native. is that the same with your othe devices?
    "encapsulation dot1Q 200 native"

AP is connected directly to one of the ports on the 2504 controller.
I can move it to a POE switch, if needed.

  • Cisco AIR-SAP2602I-N-K9 vs AIR-CAP2602I-E-K9

    What's the difference between "AIR-SAP2602I-N-K9" and " AIR-CAP2602I-E-K9 "?

Hi there, the difference between the two is the  regulatory domain they work on. The 802.11 specification as regulatory domains defines the different parameters for antenna gain, transmit power, channel selection, and so on. A (A regulatory domain - FCC):North America, South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, various parts of Asia E (E regulatory domain - ETSI):Europe, Middle East, Africa, various parts of Asia As you see on this site for example European shops sell the Cisco air-cap2602i-e-k9: http://hardware.nl/cisco/air-cap2602i-e-k9.html N (N regulatory domain - Non FCC):Mexico, Australia Find all regions divided by Cisco here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/access-points/product_data_sheet0900aecd80537b6a.html

Can a 128 ssd storage still effectively work if I install windows 8.1 plus msoffice and a window-based proposal system? I plan to buy a macbook air entry level with 1.7 gh i5 processor.

If you are going to use Mac OS X and its associated applications, and a BootCamp partition with Windows 8, and MS Office and all of the work created there, you will more than likely run out of space on a 128 GB SSD pretty quickly...especially if you put any music, photos or videos on it.  Those things take a lot of space so you will have to be very, very careful about what you want to put on a 128 GB storage space.  You would be better off going for 512 GB with what you plan on doing with it.

i found something about how to reach the maximum N speed
    Factors that Affect 802.11n Throughput
There are circumstances where 802.11n devices cannot operate at their  maximum capable data rates. There are various reasons why this occurs.  This is the list of factors that affect 802.11n throughput:
When 802.11n clients operate in a mixed environment with 802.11a or  802.11 b/g clients, 802.11n provides a protection mechanism to  interoperate with 802.11a or 802.11 b/g clients. This introduces an  overhead and reduces the throughput of 802.11n devices. Maximum  throughput is achieved in Greenfield mode where only 802.11n clients exist.
Factors such as Channel width, Guard Interval and Reduced IFS (RIFS) play a major role in the bandwidth. Table 1 and Table 2 show how these factors affect the bandwidth.
Clients ability to send a Block Ack instead of individual frame acknowledgements.
MCS Index configured on the WLC.
Proximity to AP—Clients closer to the AP experience higher data  rates. As clients move farther away from the AP, signal strength  reduces. As a result, data rate decreases steadily.
RF environment—Amount of noise and interference in the environment.  The less the noise and interference, the greater the bandwidth.
Encryption/ Decryption—Encryption in general reduces the throughput  due to the overhead involved in the data encryption/decryption process.  However, advanced encryption standards, such as AES, can provide better  throughput when compared to other encryption standards, such as TKIP and  WEP.
Wired Network Infrastructure—Bandwidth of the wired infrastructure  determines the speed of the traffic to and from the wired network to the  wireless clients.
If using an AP1250, change the AP to H-REAP mode for a 5-10% boost.
If using an AP1140, keep the AP in local mode and enable TCP MSS on the controller. Use the config ap tcp-adjust-mss enable all 1363 command in order to enable it.
Disable RRM scanning to prevent any throughput drops when going off channel. This can yield a 1-3% improvement.
Disable RLDP to ensure the AP does not attempt to connect to rogue devices during testing.
Use a Wireless Controller 5508 as the data plane is superior to the 4404-series.
    My questions are:
    1. How i can i put the access point to operate only in N mode (because all my clients are N)
2.The guard interval can be modify ?
    3. How to put my AP in H-REAP (can i do this without WLC?)
    4. How to disable RRM
    5.How to disable RLDP.
    Thank you.

  • Cisco AIR-LAP 1522 PROBLEM

Hello to everyone. They brought me a LAP1522 referring that it is not working properly. I am trying to connect to console port but the problem is that I only get log messages but I cannot edit something or type any commands. I have attached the log messages if you can catch something from there. Ignore the messages about not finding controller because the AP has been removed from the real network to my office.

    Reset Button
The access point has a reset button located on the bottom of the unit (see Figure 3). The reset button is recessed in a small hole that is sealed with a screw and a rubber gasket. The reset button is used to perform these functions:
•Reset the access point—press the reset button for less than 10 seconds. LEDs turn off during the reset and then reactivate when the reset is complete.
•Disable battery backup power—Press the reset button for more than 10 seconds. LEDs turn off, then on, and then stay off.
–You can also disable the battery remotely by entering this command:
    config mesh battery-state disable AP_name
•Switch off LEDS—Press the reset button for more than 10 seconds. LEDs turn off, then on, and then stay off.

  • Converting air-sap2602i-s-k9 from autonomous to LWAPP

    Hi guys,
I need your expertise regarding how to convert from autonomous to LWAPP using AIR-SAP2602i-s-k9 with IOS version of ap3g2-k9w7-xx.152.-2.JA.
I'm following these commands but it is not available
debug capwap console cli or debug lwapp console cli
I cannot proceed to convert it Did I miss something or the 2600 series doesn't support LWAPP convertion ?
    thank you
    Erik

    Hi Erik,
Those commands aren;t going to work, they're debug commands for a lightweight AP.
Here is the guide to upgrading:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html
It's pretty simple though, get the lightweight software follow the upgrade tool instructions to load new software.
Though, you have a newer AP so you'd be ok just to load the new software on, if it's only for a small amount this is fine.
    Thanks
    Chris

  • Radios stopped working with PoE

I'm trying to figure out why some APs radios quit working when supplied with PoE.
Yesterday I moved two converted 1131 LWAPs from one controller on one WiSM to a different controller on a different WiSM in an adjacent chassis.  Now none of the radios will come up.  To move, I changed primary controller.
Dot11Radio0 is reset, line protocol is down
Dot11Radio1 is reset, line protocol is down
    power inline negotiation injector 0002.fc1f.d193
    power inline negotiation prestandard source
Power is from AIR-PWRINJ3 inline with a 6509 switch.  I pulled down one AP.  When I apply DC power everything works.  I've now tried three different injectors and entirely diffeent cabling to no avail.
I've had a few APs do this in the past but never had time to dig deeply into it.
Any ideas, or am I just running into a manifestation of planned obsolescence, of the APs or the injectors?
All WiSM controllers are running 6.0.196.0
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Thanks,
    1. Does it mean I should not be able to telnet also into the AP though I can ping from Router LAN ( AP is connected directly to router ethernet interface).
    2. I am also not able to discover controller when running in controller-based IOS. getting below errors.
Thanks to advice on above points.

    Hi Everyone
I recently had to deploy about 4 cisco 1131 AP's to one of our branch location. When configuring them on the controller, i needed to put them in HREAP mode. As soon as i do that and the AP needs to reboot, it will continue to reboot in a loop and indicate the following:

And this is all it does, and keep loading the image. I already know the recovery procedure to reset it, but i wanted to know how i can put these AP in HREAP without having these issues. In the setup we need, we cannot have those AP be in local mode.
Thanks for any help and consideration .

The thing is, I've been applying the instruction:
capwap ap controller ip address 10.4.13.2
'cause I want them to communicate with a remote controller, and the past eight did it fine, but this two didn't.
As for the things I've already tried, I have reset it's parameters to it's initial settings, I've tried to load a new IOS image, I've cleared the flash memory, but nothing works, it keeps communicating with the old controller.
How can I fix this? (I mean, changing or adapting the AP to a lightweight AP)
    Thanks in advance

Its fine to try to apply it from the console...but if you really want to clear the AP, you need to clear the nvram.  so if changing the primary from the GUI that the AP has joined didn't work, then try this:
    debug capwap console cli
    erase /all nvram
    Example:
    Entered the username and password
    debug capwap console cli
    erase /all nvram:
    [confirm]
    undebug all
    reload
    [confirm]
    Thanks,
    Scott
