Cisco aironet 1130 and Intermec CV30

Hi to all,
I've a little problem with three Cisco 1130 AP. Anticipately i tell you that i'm not a guru of cisco wireless, but my implementation is very simple. I need a roaming for the 3 AP. I only have Ap, so i configure one as Master Ap and the others like repeater with cisco aironet extension configured. All 3 on the same channel and only the Master one broadcast SSID. Wep security implemented. My Cv30 terminals randomly loose the signal also if they're near an AP. They use windows mobile but i think is only a wrong config problem. I need help. Thank you very much.
Alex

The device is using the LWAPP image.. please upgade the same to autonomous image and convert the same..
Please use the below doc that i hv written and this will helpu!!

  • Dual SSID (with dual VLAN) on Cisco AiroNet 1130

    Cisco Community,
I need some major help in figuring out how to change our wireless setup. Currently, we have 2 Cisco AiroNet 1130 WAP's in the office that go directly into the 2 POE ports on our Cisco ASA 5500. These WAP's have 1 SSID and are using WEP for security. After demonstrating the flaws of WEP to my boss, he has agreed that we should use something more secure and I've suggested WPA. We want visitors to our office to be able to hop on our wireless but on a separate guest SSID with WEP.
I'd like the internal SSID to route to the ASA and take the default route to the internet (it will be our new fiber connection once it's installed in a couple weeks). The default route is whichever connection is working since our ASA 5500 will fail over when it detects an outage.
I'd like the guest SSID to route to the ASA and then go over our existing cable connection. This connection will be our backup once the fiber connection is installed. Since we won't be using it very often, but will be paying for it, I advised that we send all guest wireless traffic over this connection since 50/5 is plenty for guests.
I have no idea how to create a VLAN and implement it but I can generally figure things out with a little help. The current SSID (which will be the internal SSID) has no VLAN. We do currently have a few VLANS on our network, one for voice (.42) and one for data (.100) and the default (.0). What device to I create the VLAN on (Cisco 5500?) and how to I setup the WAP? I need very basic instructions to start and I'm also trying to do this without causing downtime if possible.
I've attached a diagram of what it should look like. Red indicates our internal network and Blue indicates the guest network. I can send screenshots as well.
Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.
    Thanks,
    Cody

    Cody,
Here is a good doc to follow... it explains multiple ssid's and vlans

  • Cisco Aironet 1130

I need to configure SNMP on our company Aironet 1130.   I am told there is a tool we can use that will allow us do the configuration from a PC vs connecting directly to the device.. If that is true, where can I download it?

I would like to enable SNMP on the device so that our SolarWinds Orion NPM server can monitor the device
    Ok.  NOOOOOOOOOOOW I understand you.
You need to enable one of two types of SNMP communities:  Read Only or Read-Write.
For example, if your SNMP community is TV for Read-only and RADIO for Read-Write then it's this:
    snmp-server community TV ro
    snmp-server community RADIO rw

  • Cisco aironet 1130g and windows 2003 with cisco ACS

      hi
i  have configured windows 2003 server with  DNS ,Active directory users and dhcp server.  and configured my cisco 1130g AP .
i have installed cisco access control server 4.0 because i use LEAP authentication protocol and for the ACS for network configuration i give aaa client ip addresss as AP interface ip and  same shared secret for the AP and ACS,.
so  when i log to wifi it ask username and password
problem is lap top cannot have a ip address my dhcp server not issue any ip address .
my hiper terminal massage is like this when i connect to wifi
    help ...thank you...

As I mentioned now several times already, it is the client and ACS which do the PEAP. The Access point doesn't have to be configured for an eap type. What you did on the AP was setting the AP as a radius server which is duplicate work with what you did on ACS.
So you need on your client to configure either PEAP or LEAP.

  • Cisco Aironet 3502i and Virtual Wireless Controller- Question

    Hello everyone,
As soon, I purchased two Cisco 3502i and Cisco 1142 however, two issue are that I don't have controller and smartnet. As my purpose, it using for Home Use but house with 2,500 Sq ft with two floor and new 24x24ft garage with two floor. I put two Cisco 3502i for garage and one cisco 1142 in house on second floor. Separated for multi media, gaming, streaming high resolution video, parts, and downloads programmings online. It will run with Cisco Catalyst Express 500 with 24 ports (4 POE) and two gigabit ports. In house, it have Dell Poweredge 2850, Cisco Catalyst Express 500 with 24 ports POE and 2 ports gigabit.
I thought to make my own developing with my first time using Wireless Controller. I wanted to try out with Virtual WLC on Dell Poweredge 2850 running ESXi 4.1.
    Specs for Dell Poweredge 2850:
    - 2x Intel Xeon Dual Core 3.8 GHz
    - 4GB RAM (Will upgrade to 12GB soon)
    - 2x 146GB and 2x 36GB SCSI
    - 2x 1 Gbps built in and 4x 1 Gbps PCI-X
Developing with Untangle and pfSense to make it support with LADP and VLAN to both Cisco Express 500 using 4 gbps PCI-X. I have read the requipment list to use Virtual WLC but it seem met the requipment for my 2850. If someone offer me to get Virtual WLC and IOS from their, I accept to "borrow" it. I do go college which is Rochester Institute of Technology at New York and my major is Applied Computer Technology. I live here at Hampton Road, Virginia. Just in case if you might know about RIT. I just start to learning myself with Cisco books.
    I have a question:
    - Is there possible to get trial or full version of Virtual WLC?
    - Is there possible to get Lightweight or Autonomous IOS for Cisco 1142 and 3502i?
    -  Does it supported Dell PowerEdge 2850?
    - Does 3502i support Autonomous? (Not actually but I have researched around online about that it will work with 1262's IOS)
    Thanks
    Gage

    I have a question:
    - Is there possible to get trial or full version of Virtual WLC?
No.  You will need a SmartNet contract (or a freshly purchased device) to obtain software from cisco.  Nobody will provide this to you.
    - Is there possible to get Lightweight or Autonomous IOS for Cisco 1142 and 3502i?
No.  You will need a SmartNet contract (or a freshly purchased device) to obtain software from cisco.
Nobody will provide this to you.
    -  Does it supported Dell PowerEdge 2850?
Cisco doesn't go in to great detail regarding the actual Hardware requirements of the vWLC (as far as ESX Host requirements).  Primarily, making sure you are running ESX 4.x/5.x is necessary.  The vWLC provisions 2Gb of RAM and 8GB of thick provisioned storage, so if your host can accomodate I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.
    - Does 3502i support Autonomous? (Not actually but I have researched around online about that it will work with 1262's IOS)
Yes, with the latest versions of IOS 15.2(2)JB, full functionality in autonomous can be achieved on the 1550, 3500, and 3600 series APs

  • Wireless site survey doubts with cisco aironet site survey utility tool

    Hi,
I have 1131 autonomous AP and we have project where we need to implement WLC 5500 with 1140 LAP.
Before that , we need to do site survey . we are going to use cisco aironet adapter and with the help of site survey utility tool we are planning to do site survey .
I have below doubt before starting the site survey :
    1) do we need to configure the AP 1131 with existing LAN set-up of client to get connected ?
If yes , how can i shift this 1131 ap always from one location to another location and connect to respective vlan in switch ?  It would be tedious job ....
because , We need to connect ( get associated ) our laptop always to 1131 ap and then roam around to get the RSSI , signal strength , SNR and throughput ....  ...
to configure the AP to existing lan set-up of client , it would not be flexible to do site survey ?
without that , how can I just plug-in power to 1131 AP with standalone configuration .... and without connecting to switch ( any lan-port ) , do the site survey ?
    Please suggest me .............
In short , without connecting to LAN set-up of client , how can i do the site survey ?
    2) will it be worth to do site survey with cisco aironet card ( site survey utility ) ? or we should i have different site survey software for the same ?
    Please share the knowledge ....

Site Surveys are important and should be done by a professional. A poor site survey can lead to a lot of problems. It would be hard to put all aspects of conducting a proper site survey in a single post. Lets cover a few of the basics.
    1) If you plan to deploy 1140 model access points. Then you should use that AP in autonomous mode so you dont have to be plugged into your network
    2) The AP gets powered by an exteral power source like this battery for exmaple:
    http://www.tessco.com/products/displayProductInfo.do?sku=345625&WT.mc_id=google_base&sp=true
    3) As far as moving the AP around you can purchase a site survey pole like this:
    http://www.tessco.com/products/displayProductInfo.do?sku=392506&eventPage=1
    4) As for software, I like AirMagnet Surveyor
    http://www.airmagnet.com/products/survey/
But again. There is a lot to know about doing surveys...

  • Cisco Aironet 1140 Association

    All,
Quick question about the association web interface tab on a 1140.  I have noticed that the Device Type shows as "unknown" and the Name shows as "NONE."  Anyone have a clue as to why?  Thanks for any help!
         Dave

    Any resolution on this?
We have about 20 Cisco Aironet APs and they all show the same, Device type unknown, Name NONE

I have two buidlings acroos the street from each other.  I have two Cisco Aironet 1250 wireless AP's with the first one going in the main building with network backbone.  The Second AP goes across the street with the other wired network segment.  Both AP's have long range antenas 2.4 GHZ on top of each building.  I have configured the 1st one as the Root Bridge.  The one across the street is configured as non-root bridge.  I have both AP's configured with the same WEP key and also with the same SSID name with both set to broadcast it.   I am still unsure and confused as to how I get the non-root bridge to talk to and use the root bridge to get on the main network.
1- It’s main to use the Root parent Mac address.
2-  Is there another config that I am missing to get the signal?
Note: I still not getting any signal from the root although distance between root and non-root is 330m
My root antenna is AIR-ANT24120 and non-root antenna is AIR-ANT1949 and attached files is my configuration files
    Thank you.

    1.  How are the AIR-ANT24120 and the AIR-ANT1949 installed?
the AIR-ANT24120 is connected virtically on tower far 11m from the earth and AIR-ANT1949 is connected horizontally on tower far 10m from the earth
    2.  What is the distance between both APs?
    350 m
    3.  Do you have clear line-of-sight between the two?
there is one tanker in the middle between them but it's far 7m from the earth
    4.  Is the two APs properly aligned?
i think yes and changed the aligned many times without any news (I don't have any tools for alignment)
    5.  Which point are the antennas connected to?  Primary, Secondary or middle?
I tried in the primary and secondary but never tried the middle antenna
    Thanks

  • Cisco Aironet and Apple Airport - Pb with roaming

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with roaming between one Cisco Aironet 1232AG AP and one Airport Extreme basestation. Both AP are on the same subnet, hidden network and WEP 40bits.
    0->Cisco->Apple->Cisco->....... works fine
    0->Apple->Cisco doesn't works
    0-> means Pwk restarted
    Any clues?
    Thanks

No. I tried with both AP on the same channel or on a different channel same issue. Also, same problem with WEP 128bits. However the issue disappears with WPA personal (TKIP or AES-CCMP)

I am having the same problem with my MacBookPro. Currently, I have supplied data to Apple's engineers from my machine as this is a known problem with MacBookPro's. AluminumG4 notebooks have no trouble authenticating; therefore, this may be a problem with the Atheros chipset. I am hopeful that the next version update will fix the problem, but don't have any information from Apple to support that optimism.
    Good luck,

All ap's will have static ip address and all will have same SSID and no security and they will be using multiple channels (ex. 1,6,11).  They will operate in 3 floor building for roaming wireless client. We won't using any wireless controller.
So my question is this: How to configure APs-all the same with different ip's, can we use L3 switch to create dhcp server for access points VLAN (pool for clients, and the rest for static ip for ap's)? Can one of the ap's be WDS and in the same time local radius server with users without Cisco Secure ACS or similar controller or I didn't understand this quite well :-). I followed guide http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_2_JA/configuration/guide/s32roamg.html for WDS where the part abou Cisco ACS is a problem, so I can use same ap as Local Authenticator as in guide  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_4_JA/configuration/guide/s34local.html#wp1035723.
    Many thanks...

Well, just so you know, WDS and local RADIUS authentication is only needed if you're using authentication on your wireless connection.  You say you're not planning to use security, so this isn't necessary.  However, I'd highly recommend at least using a simple WPA2-PSK to lock down your connection, otherwise you might end up giving free Internet access at best, and at worst you might be giving access to company PCs and servers.  If you want to further use an 802.1x or WPA authentication method, then yes, you can use an AP as a RADIUS server and WDS to improve authenticated roaming, but this is far more limited than using a Cisco ACS.
As for your other questions, yes, your APs can all be configured the same except for at least three parameters: IP address, channel, and hostname.  Configure your static IP addresses on the AP's BVI1 interface.  Don't place it on the Radio or Ethernet interfaces, because if either of these interfaces goes down you'll lose the ability to configure the AP, so it's best to use the BVI1 interface.
And yes, configuring a DHCP scope for your clients on your L3 switch is a good design, or you could also use your DHCP server on a different subnet by using the ip helper-address command on the L3 interface.  I hope this helps!  Let me know if you need help configuring any of this.
    Merry Christmas!

  • Apple MAC Bonjour and Cisco Aironet 1142

    Hi All,
       Hope all is well.
We have a strange issue with our two Aironet 1142s and how it interacts with our Apple laptops. When we try printing to a printer in one room connected to (let's call it Aironet 2) we can't. We attempt to browse using Bonjour (Apple's protocol) to the printer and can't. HOWEVER.. we can print and browse fine when we're using Aironet 1.
Another strange thing is when we're on Aironet 2 we can ping to the printers just fine, just can't browse to is using Bonjour nor print of course.
    Please help! Any inputs appreciated.
    -Tom

    Natalia,
You need to do the following to make Bonjour printing to work.
Have multicast enabled on the wired side for all the vlans involved (management, ap manager, client, APs). if any of these vlans are not properly setup, then bonjour will not work.
    Wired Side:
    Router:
    ip multicast-routing (enable multicast globally)
For each vlan interface enable ip pim sparse-dense-mode:
    conf t
    interface vlan x
ip pim spare-dense-mode (there may be a syntax error, dont have router access at the moment)
also you may need to configure a rendevouz point which you can set to layer 3 interface of the management vlan.
For example (management ip 10.1.1.10 and g/w is 10.1.1.1)
ip pim rp-address 10.1.1.1 (again syntax maybe incorrect)
Note: you will have to configure the same on all routers in between the WLC and the APs
Also make sure that the ipads/iphones and wireless printers are connected to the same ssid (same vlan). Bonjour uses link local address which are not routable.
on the WLC, set up multicast multicast mode with a unique mutlicast ip address. Also, on the multicast tab, Controller > multicast > enable global multicast.
There is a catch here. You will mostly likely have to turn off IGMP snooping on the controller (controller > multicast > disable igmp snooping).  I have learnt it the hard way that some of the apple devices dont send the igmp join reports.
