Cisco Aironet 1602i Standalone

I am having a hard time connecting the Cisco Aironet 1602i Standalone AP to my network.
How do I connect it to the network so that when I try to connect to the AP via a wireless device, I can see the SSID?

No connection to Aironet 1602i Autonomous while using WPA2 Mandatory PSK with AES encryption

I got a Cisco Aironet 1602i with Firmware 15.2.4-JB5. I have configured it to Broadcast a single SSID with Mandatory WPA2 PSK. The Encryption is set to AES CCMP. If I connect to the Network with three different Windows 8.1 Notebooks they will connect and authenticate, but the connection does not work. In fact, the notebook doesn't even receive an IP adress from my DHCP Server. Strange thing is, that the DHCP knows the notebook is there and assigns an IP, but the notebook doesn't receive it. If I assign static IP Adresses to the notebooks network cards, there is still no traffic going through. My mobile phone & my ebook reader work fine. They are listed as "unknown" clients in the Associations tab" but the network works on these devices. If I set the encryption to AES CCMP + TKIP the notebooks will connect (using TKIP) and everything works fine. I have used the Accesspoint with the same configuration for about one year. It suddenly stopped working three days ago. I have already reset the configuration (using write default-config) and reinstalled the firmware. I have set the configuration manually afterwards (doesn't matte if using webinterface or CLI) but the problem remains unsolved.

the Problem is not that the Intel utility takes too much time, but that the notebooks seem to Connect but dont communicate at all if using the Windows integrated connection manager.
I would prefer not to use the Intel utility at all, but to install the driver alone and use the Windows connection manager. I'm using a cheap access point of another brand at the moment and the problem does not exist there. With the same security settings.
I would like to use the Cisco AP again because range and data throughput are better.
Did I understand correctly that noone else has reported a similar Problem ?

1602i standalone AP cannot ping RADIUS server

I have a new 1602i standalone AP trying to use RADIUS authentication. For some reason the 1602 cannot ping the RADIUS server, but will get a response from other devices. Both are on the same subnet, the new one at .213 and the RADIUS at .209.

Any thoughts to why that AP is unable to ping that one particular client? Other APs are successfully contacting it for RADIUS authentication.

Wireless site survey doubts with cisco aironet site survey utility tool

Hi,
I have 1131 autonomous AP and we have project where we need to implement WLC 5500 with 1140 LAP.
Before that , we need to do site survey . we are going to use cisco aironet adapter and with the help of site survey utility tool we are planning to do site survey .
I have below doubt before starting the site survey :
1) do we need to configure the AP 1131 with existing LAN set-up of client to get connected ?
If yes , how can i shift this 1131 ap always from one location to another location and connect to respective vlan in switch ? It would be tedious job ....
because , We need to connect ( get associated ) our laptop always to 1131 ap and then roam around to get the RSSI , signal strength , SNR and throughput .... ...
to configure the AP to existing lan set-up of client , it would not be flexible to do site survey ?
without that , how can I just plug-in power to 1131 AP with standalone configuration .... and without connecting to switch ( any lan-port ) , do the site survey ?
Please suggest me .............

2) will it be worth to do site survey with cisco aironet card ( site survey utility ) ? or we should i have different site survey software for the same ?

Site Surveys are important and should be done by a professional. A poor site survey can lead to a lot of problems. It would be hard to put all aspects of conducting a proper site survey in a single post. Lets cover a few of the basics.
1) If you plan to deploy 1140 model access points. Then you should use that AP in autonomous mode so you dont have to be plugged into your network
2) The AP gets powered by an exteral power source like this battery for exmaple:

3) As far as moving the AP around you can purchase a site survey pole like this:

Question regarding the use of Cisco Aironet 1140 series

We are looking at deploying some of the Cisco Aironet Access Points as standalone. We are essentially setting up a hotspot. They will mainly be in conference rooms at each of our field offices so visitors attending our meetings can have internet access. Do clients have to use Cisco wireless adapters in order to connect
to any of Cisco Aironet Access Points or can they use whatever wireless card they have as long as it supports the bands available?

Any product which displays the Wi-Fi Certified logo, including everything from Cisco, should interoperate with any other Wi-Fi Certified gear.

in General APs can be converted to work with autonomous (standalone) image or an LWAPP/CAPWAP image that needs controller.
for 3600 series APs however there are no support for autonomous image and you can only use it on WLC with version 7.2 or above (7.0 does not work).
7.2 version does not work on all WLC platforms and only works on new platforms like WiSM2 and 2500 WLCs.
I think everyone above mentioned what I wrote but I just tries ot make a good summary.

How to change default admin password on Cisco Aironet 1040

How do I change the default username and password on the Cisco Aironet 1040. There is a default set and I want to change that to secure the device. I've checked the manual and can't seem to find the directions. Any ideas?

Hi Brian,
If this AP is already registered with a WLC then you can change it via WLC.
In WLC GUI, go to Wireless -> Select the AP -> Credential -> Override Global Credential-> Update username/pw/enable pw
In WLC CLI, you can configure it like this. If it is for all APs, then select all, otherwise AP name.
(WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username admin password Cisco123 secret Cisco123 ?
all Applies the configuration to every AP that does not have a specific user name.
Enter the name of the Cisco AP.
(WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username password secret
(WLC3) >save config
Are you sure you want to save? (y/n) y
If it is Autonomous AP you can configure using the "username xxxx password xxx" IOS command

I have a client that wants to upgrade his Aironet 1131 APs with 1141N. How many users are supported on a Cisco Aironet 1141N?

Yes, you could have 30 clients on the AP.
Client density all depends on what the client is doing, really.
So if you have clients that are just web surfing and pulling email 30+ isn't a problem. If they are all streaming video, then you want to plan for less clients per AP, and more APs.

How to load a boot image to cisco aironet 1140 series after missing boot image

I need a solution for this. When i switch my cisco aironet 1140 , it s blinking with red light .and gives a message "no boot image to load".

Cisco Aironet 1300 QoS

Hello, I have 2 Cisco Aironet 1300 Bridges which provide data and voice communication between 2 buildings. Up until recently QoS has not been needed, but lately there appears to be congestion due to reports of poor voice quality. Building A houses a V3000 NBX Telephone system, Building B houses approximately 30 remote IP phones. Building A and Building B are approximately 100 yards apart. No VLAN's. Due to myself being an extreme noob to Cisco bridges, I was hoping some of you may have had experience in setting this up and hopefully provide some tips. I need to prioritize traffic on UDP ports 2093-2096 and TCP port 1040. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. My current running config is below:

Configuring CISCO AIRONET AP

how to configure the IP Adress of CISCO AIRONET 1600i AP to access It through the Web browser and configure It?
we tried to assign a static IP using CLI so we downloaded Tera Term and tried to connect It using the DB Cable. The following message shows up:

we tried to execute 'Enable' command and It works then we tried to execute 'config t' command but failed (the other commands do not work too):

I connected the Aironet AP to a Router which has 192.168.1.1 as a default IP Adress and thats what shows up on the terminal:

Hi
By default these AP comes with lightweight image & require a WLC to manage it.(unless you specifically order this AP with autonomous image)
If you want to convert it autonomous (to use without a WLC) then you have to load an autonomous image to it. You should have an image like this (ap1g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JAB.tar) to begin with (you may require a valid maintenance contract to download this from cisco web site)
Then you can follow one of the methods to convert it to a autonomous AP

i have 2 cisco aironet 1300 series configured as root bridge and non root bridge, i managed to configure them and they are associating only when they adjacent , when i separate them them communication fail , could you please help me to solve this . thx

Those are very old bridges. So if they are still functioning okay, do they require external antennas or not and do you have external antennas if they do?

Cisco Aironet

I got a Cisco Aironet card to replace the Broadcom that uses ndiswrapper. Here is what happens

then run iwconfig
eth1 (which is my wireless card) no wireless extensions
A few places suggested that it is the driver. Anyone have any other suggestions? Does anyone use a Cisco Aironet card? How did you get it installed?
