Cisco Aironet 350 series/panel indicator

                 Cisco Aironet 350
I have the next indicators signals:
Ethernet activity= Steady RED
Association Status=Steady GREEN
Radio Activity=Steady AMBER
I can't use the acces point's serial for management system

Here is a link to the led indicators although your colors aren't shown in the list.
http://www.cisco.com/public/scc/compass/ap/information_files/led_table_wbg.html
Based on the age of the unit, no access to the console, all LEDs are on. I would agree with Scott. It's likely bad ..

  • Cisco aironet 1200 Series access point dropping clients

    We are having an issue where our Cisco Aironet 1220 Series AP is constantly dropping clients. We have 3 APs mounted on a single tower, all out of each others range and freq. There are approximatly 30 clients on each AP. We are noticing an increase in dropped customers (up to 20 at a time). ANy suggestions? This only became an issue in the last few weeks, and nothing major has changed.

    Hi
    Even I was facing almost the same kind of problem. But in my case it was wired clients to the workgroup bridge 350.
    I had done lot of testings and reading at that time to resolve this problem.
    However in your case I feel your problem can be resolved by keeping the option "Reliable multicast for Workgroup bridges" disabled in the APs under dot11radio interface settings. This is possibly because the radios cannot associate to more than 20 clients at a time if the option is in the enable mode.
    You need to keep this option enabled in a root bridge when you have problems of dropping the wired clients to the workgroup bridge.
    By keeping this option enabled, you are actually asking the Root bridges to consider the Workgroup bridges as Infrastructure devices and not as clients thereby making the roots to send all the multicasts to the WGBs. However in that case it losses the efficiency of associating more than 20 clients.
    Let me know if this resolves your problem.

  • Cisco Aironet 1300 series

    Hello,
    i have 2 cisco aironet 1300 series configured as root bridge and non root bridge, i managed to configure them and they are associating only when they adjacent , when i separate them them communication fail , could you please help me to solve this . thx

    Those are very old bridges. So if they are still functioning okay, do they require external antennas or not and do you have external antennas if they do?

  • Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Power

    Can the 1310ap receive it's power from a POE switch?

    Hi Edward,
    Sadly the 1310 cannot be powered by PoE ,but, the Power Injector can be up to 100 meters away from the unit.
    Dual coaxial cable to run from the power injector to the 1300. See attached notes:
    Cisco Aironet 1300 Series
    Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Access Point/Bridge Power Injector
    The Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor Access Point/Bridge Power Injector,converts the standard 10/100 BaseT Ethernet interface that is suitable for weather protected areas to a dual F-Type connector interface for coax cables that are more suitable for harsh outdoor environments. The Power Injector also provides power to the outdoor unit over the same cables with a power discover feature and surge protection. To support longer cable runs from your wireless network switch or router, the Power Injector LR is designed to accommodate up to a 100 meter coaxial cable run plus 100 meters of indoor cat5 cable?enabling total cable runs up to 200 meters. The Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor Access Point/Bridge ships with the Power Injector LR2 and an AC power supply.

    Ethernet Ports
    The access point/bridge dual-coax Ethernet ports consists of a pair of 75-ohm F-type connectors, linking the unit to your 100BASE-T Ethernet LAN through the power injector. The dual-coax cables are used to send and receive Ethernet data and to supply inline 48-VDC power from the power injector to the access point/bridge.
    Power
    The access point/bridge receives inline power from the Cisco Aironet Power Injector (hereafter called the power injector). Dual-coax cables are used to provide Ethernet data and power from the power injector to the access point/bridge. The power injector is an external unit designed for operation in a sheltered environment, such as inside a building or vehicle. The power injector also functions as an Ethernet repeater by connecting to a Category 5 LAN backbone and using the dual-coax cable interface to the access point/bridge.

  • Configuring wireless card Cisco Aironet 350 PCI

    I'm not a newbie in linux but now faced with a trouble. I could not manage to set up the card properly. I just installed Arch 0.8 and it's not quite clear to me how to do this with Arch. I've read all available Arch's docs on this topic.
    So my situation's the following:
    I have the wireless card Cisco Aironet 350 PCI and I've been using it with Slackware for a year. It works quite fine. But now, when I decided to move to Arch - I cannot set it up. My card's using `airo` module and it is loading well. All the present network devices are recognized. I can see this by ifconfig -a.
    I have 2 NICs in my system:
    1) simple Ethernet card - eth0. Is switched off in rc.conf
    2) wireless. There are 2 different devices for it in my system: eth1 and wifi0 (and it's correct). I don't know why is it so and how about this with other wireless cards.
    For example I placed here network configs from my Slackware which works well with them and expect your advice on how to do the same with Arch.
    /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf:
    ##IPADDR[0]="" #wired NIC is off
    ##NETMASK[0]=""
    ##USE_DHCP[0]="yes"
    ##DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]=""
    # Config information for eth1:

    Who is aware - please describe or give me a link on this, how the two devises eth1 and wifi0 are connected to each other and how to set them up in Arch.
    Thnx.

    Excellent! It works! Thank U very much.
    My conclusion - /etc/network-profiles/ is much more suitable way/place to set your wireless network parameters even it's quite steady.
    And now I have a couple of extra questions:
    1) What should I do with actual network parameters in rc.conf? Currently they looks like:
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    #eth0="eth0 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
    INTERFACES=(lo !eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    NET_PROFILES=(tier)
    and that looks and works OK. What about gateway? Should I comment it here or not?
    2)Though everything works fine now, I can see that wifi0 device is not listed by ifconfig now (only by iwconfig), but in my Slackware system it is. Don't have I to mention my wifi0 device in network profile's section:
    #WIFI_INTERFACE=wlan0   # use this if you have a special wireless interface
                            # that is linked to the real $INTERFACE
    Thnx!
    And sorry for ugly English

  • Cisco Aironet 1310 series

    hello all,
    I have a cisco Aironet 1310 series which am having problem with the signal strength. This box came with 8 dbi Omni antenna gain and am told this can go upto 5km raduis. After configuring this equipment, i could not get a link when i move 500 meters. Please find attached the configs on the box. Any help given would be very much appreciated. Thank You

    This 5KM distance is only going to be applicable in bridging situations. The following link shows how to use the distance calculations based on devices: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps458/products_tech_note09186a008009459b.shtml
    In theory, if you had a really strong direction antenna on your client you'd be able to get the 1310 as an access Point from 5km, but you'd need perfect line-of-site and you wouldn't be mobile...
    As others had mentioned, if you're looking for an access point situation with that kind of range, then you need WiMax....
    but if it is bridging you want, its just a matter of getting the other link to see this one (with a good enough antenna)

  • [solved] Cisco Aironet 350 package

    Hi guys,
    Is there a package for the Cisco Aironet 350 anywhere? I have to set up a thinkpad x31 that has one, but I can't find any package for the driver, neither in the normal repo, nor in the AUR. Maybe it's too early in the morning ;-)

    omg I shouldn't wake up, go to the PC, turn it on, read some stuff and don't check the wireless drivers that ship with the kernel.
    It's already there...

  • Aironet 350 Series

    We just took over a site that has the 350 Series Ap's in place. I need to get into the AP and change the username and password... or at least set it back to default without killing the whole config.

    Unless you know the username password, the only way is to perform a reset on the ap..... or else it would be too easy for people to access equipment that doesn't belong to them.

  • Question regarding the use of Cisco Aironet 1140 series

    We are looking at deploying some of the Cisco Aironet Access Points as standalone. We are essentially setting up a hotspot. They will mainly be in conference rooms at each of our field offices so visitors attending our meetings can have internet access. Do clients have to use Cisco wireless adapters in order to connect
    to any of Cisco Aironet Access Points or can they use whatever wireless card they have as long as it supports the bands available?
    Thx in advance for any advice given.

  • Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA Card (ext. ant.) & ACU Troubles

    The problem is, if the card is inserted in the slot and the acu software v.6.6 (or older) is installed, the card is via the ACU software not able to associate to a cisco accesspoint.
    How can I solve this problem?
    I 've tried several ways with win 2000, win xp with and without centrino chipset. It is always the same.
    At an older CB21 card with the ADU software on the same hardware are no problems

    First thing is to simplify your challenge. Do you have an antenna attached? Are you using the MMCX adapter connection for the antenna, Adapter cables for Orinoco cards are different and won't work.
    Can you configure the 350 card via ACU? if so, does its encyrption settings/security match the AP. Can you connect to any other APs via the 350 card? Go to a WiFi hotspot and test your system and card there to see if you can attach to a Linksys or other off-brand AP?
    Make sure you know the wireless security settings on the AP and match them on your wireless adapter cards. Can you connect with the access point wirelessly with any other wireless cards? If yes, can you connect the 350 to the AP using the Win XP wireless settings and not the ACU? One tip is to make sure the security settings on both card and AP are turned off, make the connection, then tighten security and encyrption back down.
    Good Luck
