Cisco AP 1310 interface status "reset"
any idea why the ap 1310 send the interface to "reset" state:

Configuration of a Point to MultiPoint link with Cisco Aironet 1310 bridges
Hi All,
The previous problem of which I started another conversation here:
http://forum.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Wireless%20-%20Mobility&topic=General&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Ddisplay_location%26location%3D.1ddba023
somehow dissapeared. It could have been a problem of interferences.
I have another issue with other (multipoint) wireless WAN link, which I hope has a solution.
On the central node, we have an Cisco Aironet 1310 bridge configured as root-bridge. It has a panel of four vertical polarity 17 dBi panel 90? antennas, with more than enough gain (there is a 250 mWatts 802.11 b/g amplifier, before the 4-way splitter) and excellent line of sight to three remote bridges.
The three (03) remote bridges are also Aironet 1310 models, confidured as non-root-bridges.
The problem we have is that it seems that when the three remote links operate concurrently the amount of lost packets is huge. When I shutdown the radio interfaces of two bridges, the remaining bridge makes an excellent link with the central node.
It seems that some hours are more critical than others, also the links operate much worse when there is some (small) network traffic in them.
I have read the 1310 manuals, and I can't find a sample configuration for point to multi-point links.
Does someone knows what radio interface configuration should I need to use to establish better quality communication?
I mean, perhaps the 1 x root - 3 x no root configuration is not recommendable for the multipoint link configuration.
Any hints will be welcome.
Best Regards,
Igor Sotelo.Hi All,
Thank you for the information. I configured the distance on the root bridges, but the links showed instability.
I'm using a bi-directional amplifier. It has two pieces. According to the manuals, one is installed indoors, the other outdoors. I'm not sure if the indoors piece has the transmition module or it's only the injector.
We could establish connection at 7 km (around 4 milles) distance from the central point, using 24 dBi antennas on the other side.
However, we have issues with a near located point that is only 1.2 Km (around 0.8 milles) away and has a 13 dBi integrated patch antenna. The signal strenght value we get there is in the -62 to -68 dBm range, and is noticiably (5-10 dBm) lower than the strenght we get at other points of the link. And I have trouble establishing a high quality link with that point, using OFDM modulation. I tend to think that if I remove the amplifier I'm not going to reach that point at all. The EIRP on the central iste is 34 dBm / 2.5 watts, without amplifier it would be 26 dBm / 0.4 watts.
On the opposite sites the EIRP is 33 dBm / 2 watts using CCK or 28 dBm / 0.63 watts using OFDM.
When one looks at the central site from that point, an Motorola Canopy with passive reflector (EIRP 48 dBm or around 64 watts) can be seen. It doesn't have the same direction, but the opposite site must be large distance and could interfere with my wireless network. Attached is an amplified photo of the view. It's safe to assume that the Canopy operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range.
Once I connect the point at 1.2 Km, the multipoint link loses its quality, and soon the lost packets get too frequent.
The CCK seems to be much more interfered than OFDM, I guess because of that canopies.
Another thing I'm wondering about is if the Aironet 1310 can continuosly switch CCK-OFDM over the same point - multipoint link, without losing packets.
What other parameters should I tweak? Is there a way to avoid interferences fromt the canopy?
I would like to apply 100 mWatts local power using the radio with OFDM, but it seems that's not possible.
Best Regards,
Igor Sotelo. -
Hi! What's the command for sh interface status in CAT OS?

Show interface status (IOS layer 2switch)
Is it possible to modify the width of the column containing the description of the interfaces when I issue the "show interface status?" on IOS cisco switches?
I don't believe so but you can type show interface description if you want to see the entire description that is associated to the port.

Hi,
Can anyone help me in resetting the Cisco ISE web interface password. I'm able to login to CLI of ISE but couldnt use the same credentials to login to web interface. Is there any way to reset this web interface password through ISE CLI?
Thanks
DanielDaniel,
Just ran across your question, the answer is you can have login credentials for the cli but that is seperate from the gui. The way I understand it is once you get to the gui for the first time user is admin and password is cisco. At this point you are required to put in a new password. Once in the gui other users can be created for the gui.

Gigabit interface status faulty please help
When I do a show interface status on 4500 switch I got a status faulty
I did never see such thing
Port- Name-Status-Vlan-Duplex-Speed Type
Gi2/7-jsh3 faulty 188 full XXBaseSX
Could you please help?
Thanks a lotthis usually indicates the port is faulty (bad; not working; will not work)
this may have been set via the POST of the device. the internal tests failed and the port was marked FAULTY.
this could also be the result of a good port simply went bad for some unknown reason.
try to disable/reEnable the port. will probably still say faulty. (cannot initialize a faulty port)
try to reset the blade the port is on, or the supervisor if it resides on that.
do a "show test" (catOS) to see what the POST found when it did its powerOnSelfTests.
i've seen plenty of FAULTY ports and 99% of the time, the port is simply bad and must be replaced. (usually an ASIC or the likes) -

hello all,
I have a cisco Aironet 1310 series which am having problem with the signal strength. This box came with 8 dbi Omni antenna gain and am told this can go upto 5km raduis. After configuring this equipment, i could not get a link when i move 500 meters. Please find attached the configs on the box. Any help given would be very much appreciated. Thank YouThis 5KM distance is only going to be applicable in bridging situations. The following link shows how to use the distance calculations based on devices: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps458/products_tech_note09186a008009459b.shtml
In theory, if you had a really strong direction antenna on your client you'd be able to get the 1310 as an access Point from 5km, but you'd need perfect line-of-site and you wouldn't be mobile...
As others had mentioned, if you're looking for an access point situation with that kind of range, then you need WiMax....
but if it is bridging you want, its just a matter of getting the other link to see this one (with a good enough antenna) -
Cisco SUP MGMT Interface Support L2 switchport mode?
Does the Cisco Supervisor MGMT interface support to be converted to a switchport to be assigned to a specific VLAN? The same question for 3750 switches and other switches.
No. They do need to have an IP address configured as they are actually routed ports.
The address needs to be in the subnet associated with the VLAN it plugs into in the switching infrastructure. -
Hi there,
I'm deploying Cisco UC Integration Lync 9.2(5). There's a QoS portion which states that you can install Cisco Media Services Interface on the user's PC and is to be used with Cisco Prime Collaboration or MediaNet:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucilync/9/CUCI_BK_C0545A41_00_cisco-uc-integration-for-microsoft/CUCI_BK_C0545A41_00_cisco-uc-integration-for-microsoft_chapter_010.html#CUCI_CN_IDBE72E9_00
If we don't have Cisco Prime Collaboration or MediaNet, does Cisco Media Services Interface mark RTP and Siganling packets on the outbound regardless? Or do I have to manually set the DSCP values for the PC?
Thanks,
JohnWhen you were placing the internal test calls, where was your phone located? The RTP streams are usually only set up between the two endpoints (assuming no transcoder or MTP is used).
Have you have already checked calls between IP phones at your central site (where Unity is located) and IP Phones at site A? Are these working fine? If not, then it's likely you do have a QoS issue over the WAN to Site A.
Have you confirmed whether or not calls from the PSTN gateway at site A experience any voice QoS issues when transferred to an IP Phone at the central site?
Is the same codec is being used for the MGCP gateway as for IP Phones at that site (check the Region settings for the Device Pool it's in)?
If these things have all been checked, then you may want to consider collecting a simultaneous sniffer trace from each end of a single call, and comparing what's seen at the two endpoints.
Kind regards,
Craig -
Aironet 1310 interface dot11 0 stuck in reset
Hi trying to connect two APs with one being root and the other non root. After configuring, the wireless interface on the non root remains stuck
int reset mode. Below is the error message i get and have tried and cant find out what the problem is.
%DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response
Will appreciate any help. thanksAs per dmantill mention once we have a 1310 in root bridge and the other one in non root bridge the non root bridge will not enable the radio until it sees a good signal from the root bridge and its status will be reset down.
Remember that we have 2 types of 1310 the ones with build in antennas and the ones with no build in antenna and require and external antenna connected to it.
To know if your unit has a build in antenna or not the part number will not include a (-R) if it has a (–R) it means that the unit does not have a build in antenna.
Also remember that when we work with bridges we need to set them in install mode (install root bridge and install non root bridge)this mode will only allow the units to associate to each other and not pass traffic and the led’s on the back of the unit will stop works as usual and help us for antenna alignment between the units.
Here is the link that lets us know what each sequence we get on the leds once in install mode to know how god the antenna aliment or signal is.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/installation/guide/130h_c3.html#wp1056656
Also remember that when working with bridges by defaults the units are set to work at full power and this would create 2 scenarios.
For example, if the units are able to cover up to 5km with full power if the distance between the units is more than 5 km then they will not be able connect and if the distance is shorter than 5 km let’s say 1 km and we leave the units at full power there is going to be too much interface and signal to noise on the connection due to the short distance between the units and at the end this could make the units not see a good signal between them.
For instance lets say we are on a football field and each of us is on a touchdown side and for us to be able to hear each other we need to scream to each other, but if we then walk to the center of the field and we keeping screaming we are going to hear ourselves but we will not be able to understand what we are saying to each other and we will need to lower our voice.
Here is the outdoor range calculation utility to check what is the exact distance we can cover with a unit and at an specific data rate.

Dot11Radio0 Interface in reset/down status
Hi,
I have the next problem.
The interface Dot11radio0 is always in reset / down status.
I can't link both AP.
They both are cisco AIR-AP1252AG-E-K9.
This have been working fine for 18 months, but this week suddenly went down.
I updated yesterday one of the APs to a new version, from the 12.4.10b-JDA3(GD) to the c1250-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA1.tar but the problem was no fixed.
the other AP has 12.4.21a-JY(ED).
I've changes the role of the APs, the one with was root-bridge changed to non root-bridge and the one with was non root-bridge become root bridge.
Doing this, I changed the status of the interfaces, the AP with had interface dot11radio0 up up, become in reset down, and the AP that previously was in reset down, become in up up.
In the show log I see that the problem is:
Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: Authenticating
Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response
I leave the confs here.
Please, help me.Hi Surendra,
I'm getting:
The bug ID CSCtc23789 does not exist. Please verify the bug ID and try again. If you feel you reached this message in error, please send us
