Cisco ASA - 2 Site to Site routes needed for failover -Is possible?

3 physical sites. 2 ASA 5510 (routing mode_). 3rd site is in between ASA sites. 2 different connections. Depending on which link goes down, a certain set of Network Lists for Site to Site VPN is needed to place the 3rd site subnets where they belong depending on which link dies. The tunnels all work. Here is my wonder: Can I automate this somehow in my environment (all Cisco 3750/3560/2960) so that I can leave both tunnels in place so that if either link dies, the appropriate tunnel is picked for failover? Running 8.03 code on ASA. Using EIGRP (love that protocol). Anyone have any ideas?

    I have a Cisco 5520 that I have RSA radius with hardware token up and working witrhout issue. The RSA radius authentication works fine.
    My problem is that I want the login page of the WebVPN portal to display two fields for the user RSA passcode. An RSA passcode is the PIN and the current toke code together.
    I want one field to accept the PIN from the passcode and the other field to accept the TOKEN CODE from the RSA token.
    Currently the login page has in this order:

    I know this has been done with the native Cisco IPSEC client but I cannot find a way to do this with the WebVPN login page. I have been thru the Customization page and can't seem to get this to work correctly.

  • Cisco ASA 5510 site to site VPN only

    Hi,
    Need some expert help. I will be deploying the CISCO ASA 5510 in VPN site to site scenario only. One interface will be for the WAN and the other LAN interface is connected to another firewall appliance. The main purpose of the ASA is for branch site VPN connection only. My default gateway is pointing to the Internet router on my WAN inteface. Should NAT be enabled on my WAN inteface? The only expected traffic to go thru my ASA is VPN traffic to the other site. I have already defined static routes and have gone thru the wizard for site to site VPN and added my local and remote networks. Also how do I approach my access policies, the default deny any any is in place. Should I allow anything on it? The firewall connected to my LAN interface is expected to do the filtering, like I said the ASA's purpose is just to do VPN site to site. Thanks all

    Thanks Jon. That is what I want to clarify as well, running the VPN site to site wizard, will automatically create the 'cryptomap' access rules, will the existing deny all rule apply to the VPN traffic? I think there was an option that VPN traffic will bypass access rules.
    So having NAT enabled for anything that goes out on My WAN inteface would not matter at all, even if the VPN traffic will go out of that interface right? Hope I don't sound confusing.
    As per your second question, I know it sounds weird and is not good network design, but customer just renewed maintenance contract for the other firewall box that is why he does not want to get rid of it yet. Although ISA can perform the function as well. Thanks.

  • Cisco ASA Backup Restore Certificates

    I have a Cisco ASA 5505 as a BOVPN endpoint using certificates. The config is complete and I now need to back it up and restore to a cold standby Cisco ASA 5505 that will sit on the shelf until something goes wrong.
    Problem is I cannot restore my certifcates to the standby.
    Can someone point me to a process please.
    I have tried the backup and restore wizard in ASDM and to be honest it didn't work.

    Wouldn't it be simpler to put the two in failover for a few minutes (sync is done automatically on bulk sync).
    Otherwise I can suggest to export the certificate in PKCS12 (cert + RSA) from active unit and import it into the "standby".

    For IPSec VPN, you need to port forward UDP/500 and UDP/4500, and remember to enable NAT-T on the ASA.

    I referred above links and found syslog for botnet filtering.
    ASA-4-338002: Dynamic filter permitted black listed TCP traffic from inside: 10.1.1.45/6798 (209.165.201.1/7890) to outside: 209.165.202.129/80 (209.165.202.129/80), destination 209.165.202.129 resolved from dynamic list: bad.example.com
    It is cisco asa 5500 log. is it same for Firepower? If yes, is Firepower generate syslog for all events like this?
    Please refer me syslog reference guide for Cisco ASA 5500x Firepower if exist.

    Firepower logging is to a Firesight management center (FMC) via https. It does not use SDEE.
    Just like the old IPS, syslog messages are only about the module status, not about actual IPS events.

    I don't hve any NAT-exemptions in Cisco IOS Router. Transform-set I will change soon, but I've tried with tunnel mode and it didn't work.
    Maybe NAT-exemptions is the issue. Can you advice me which exemptions should be in Cisco IOS Router?

  • Site to Site VPN between ASA 5505 and Cisco 800 router

    Evening all,
    Hoping that someboy can see the error of my ways.  It seems very like the problem that i read here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2016300
    We have a cisco 800 in a remote site which we wanted to use for a site to site vpn.  Went through the steps on the ASA 5505 and the 800 and have got to the stage were the tunnel is up and connected.  Getting traffic through it is another matter.  Remote network is 172.20.224.0/20 and the server network behind the ASA is 192.168.168.0/24. The tunnel does intiate when you send traffic from 172 ......to 192.......  Both the ASA and 800 report the tunnel is up.  If i look at the stats using ccp on the 800 i can see the encapsulation packets graph shooting up but nothing cominbg back.  I did packet captures on the 5505 and could not see anything coming from the tunnel so i dont belive its making it to the ASA.  Here is the config from the 800:

  • Cisco ASA 5505 site to site Multiple subnet.

    Hi. I need some help configuring my cisco asa 5505.
    I've set up a VPN tunnel between two ASA 5505
    Site 1:
    Subnet 192.168.77.0
    Site 2:
    Have multiple vlans and now the tunnel goes to vlan400 - 192.168.1.0
    What I need help with:
    From site 1 i need to be able to reach another vlan on site 2. vlan480 - 192.168.20.0
    And from site 1 I need to reach 192.168.77.0 subnet from vlan480 - 192.168.20.0
    Vlan480 is used for phones. In vlan480 we have a PABX central.
    Is this possible to do?
    Any help would be greatfully appreciated!

    Hi,
    The addition of a new network to the existing L2L VPN should be a pretty simple process.
    Essentially you will have to add the network to the Crypto ACL present in the "crypto map" configurations. You will also have to configure the NAT0 configuration for it in the proper interfaces of the ASA. These configurations are all done on both ends of the L2L VPN connection.
    Looking at your above configurations it would seem that you will need the following configurations
    SITE 1
    We add the new network to both the crypto ACL and the NAT0 ACL
    access-list outside_1_cryptomap extended permit ip 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
    access-list inside_nat0_outbound extended permit ip 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
    SITE 2
    We add the new network to the crypto ACL
    We create a new NAT0 configuration for the Vlan480 interface as it has no previous NAT0 configuration

  • Setting up site to site vpn with cisco asa 5505

    I have a cisco asa 5505 that needs to be set up for site to site vpn to a cisco asa 5500. The 5505 is the remote office and the 5500 is the main office.

    Make some number ACL 101 as you do not have to write the extended keyword then if you like as follows, or else NAME aCL will also work:

    Step 3.
    Define Preshared key or PKI which you will use with other side Peer address 71.37.178.142, either key type 0 is Plain text anyone can see it over internet, or use key type 6 for encrypted key , say your password is CISCO123
    Here in your case in step 2 Authentication is using PSK, looks you have not defines Password
    Use following command:

    Define Transform set , which will be used for phase 2 tunnel parameters, if you use ESP it can have to sets one cor encryption and other for Authentication.

    Now configure Crypto MAP as follows and only one CMPA can be applied to OUTSIDE Interface as VPN tunnel is alsways applied for traffic from inside subnets to outside subnets and only once Cryptomap can be applied to OUTSIDE Interface and hence for several VPN peers from different vendors we use seq no 10, 2 30 for different tunnels in one single CMAP:

  • Site to Site VPN Problems With 2801 Router and ASA 5505

    Hello,
    I am having some issue setting up a site to site ipsec VPN between a Cisco 2801 router and a Cisco ASA 5505. I was told there was a vpn previously setup with an old hosting provider, but those connections have been servered. Right now I am trying to get the sites to talk to the 2801.     I am wondering if anyone can assist me on configuring Cisco ASA 5520 site to site vpn with Avaya VPN Phone? According to Avaya, the Avaya 9630 phone acts as a VPN client so a VPN router or firewall is not needed.
