Cisco ASDM 1.5.64 on Mac OS X

Hello,
I'm using Cisco ASDM 1.5.64 on MacOS X 10.8.4. Apple recently upgraded Java on Mac OS X.
java version "1.6.0_51"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_51-b11-456-11M4508)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.51-b01-456, mixed mode)
Since that time, I can't use ASDM. I can start ASDM but I can't use the input boxes for ip-address, username and password.
Anybody has the same problem?
Regards - Willi

Hi Willi,
You can also confirm that you are using the latest version of the ASDM, every time that Cisco release a new ASDM version it becomes recommended because this includes the fix for known issues on the software.
Also latest versions of ASDM to keep up to date with Java updates.

Correct and exact installer packege needed, which is up to date.
    Thank you.

Cisco recommends ASDM 7.3(2) for all 8.x+ versions. See Table 2 here.
The file would be asdm-732.bin, available here (support contract required).

  • Cisco Connect does not run with Mac OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

When I first installed Cisco Connect that came with my E1500 router, I was running Mac OSX Snow Leopard (10.7) and it worked fine.  I upgraded my OSX to Mountain Lion and now when I start Cisco Connect, I get:
    Unsupported operating system
The router software supports these operating systems:
    - Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
    - Mac OS X 10.6.1 or later
    - Mac OS X 10.7 or later
I saw some other thread/info/download on Cisco Connect with Lion (10.7) but nothing for Moutain Lion (10.8) - is there a fix forthcoming?
    Thanks

All i want to do is disable the guest function through cisco. i live in an apartment and everyone logs into my guest account. i was at my neighbours and they were laughing saying they done need to subscribe for the internet cause they just log onto local wi fi. and mine is one of them. i dont know if that'll slow down my internet with so many people using it. but all i want to do is just avoid it all together and get rid of it. but in this case i am having the same problem as all of you. to disable the guest function you need to go through cisco connect and it is not compatible with mac osx mountain lion. grrrrrrr

  • Cisco VPN 4.7 and Intel Mac

Has anyone been able to get the Cisco VPN 4.7 or 4.8 work with the Intel version of Mac OS X 10.4.4? It gives an error that the subsystem is not running.

Very true - but I am actually using 4.9.0030 beta (from TAC), and have been for about a week now - and it indeed works (on Intel Mac, and a PowerMac G5 Dual).
There is some issue with profiles (imported profile files as well as old ones / certs), but all in all, it does function.
I do remember the long road to a REALLY functioning Tiger client, and it APPEARS Cisco are going to be a bit better off with this one
Having said that, I DO agree with your statement nonetheless I don't work for them !!!

  • Cisco ASDM 6.1(5) Windows server 2008 r2?

    Hi!
Have anyone tried to run ASDM 6.1(5) and ASDM-IDM Launcher 1.5(50) on a windows server 2008 r2?
Currently the computer is running windows XP and I want to upgrade to a server..
    /Lajja

That's an old ASDM (ca. 2008) and I haven't had the opportunity to try that specific combination.
In general, modern ASDM versions (6.4 or higher) are documented in their release notes as being compatible with Windows Server 2008.
As long as your ASA is 8.0 or later, there's no reason not to load and use the latest ASDM (7.1(5) is current as of right now). That's actually recommended by Cisco.

  • Is it useful to enrol in Cisco courses if your aim are mac networks?

Pardon my lack of information... I am currently taking an advanced CCNA networks course (4 levels), we learnt a lot about protocols, routers and switches and all of them work within Cisco's rule's and regulations. Question is; does Apple work with Cisco's protocols, devices and systems and vice versa? if so, what would the next Cisco course you'd advice me to enrol in that'd be relevant to Macs and Xserves? what Cisco courses must I avoid incase they were focused on Windows systems but not macs?

    Hi
AFAIK and in my experience most of Cisco's products are configured using the command line which (for me) makes them platform independent. Ultimately a network device (macs, PCs, printers etc) simply nodes connected to a network regardless of what hardware the infrastructure consists of.
Besides Apple's OS includes Cisco's IPSec VPN Client as a built-in option.
    To answer this question:
"'What Cisco courses must I avoid in case they were focused on Windows systems but not macs?"
I would say none at all.

  • Cisco VPN 4.9.01 (0100) Mac OS X 10.5.3 Macbook

I have the correct profiles from a previous installation on my iMac. But when attempting to connect to the VPN server, the only message I get is "not connected". No logs, no errors, nothing. This worked flawlessly on the iMac.
Any help would be suggested. BTW, SSL VPN works fine from the MacBook, IPSec VPN does not.
    Thanks.

    Bob,
I don't have an answer, just a similar problem. I have the same Cisco VPN version, which worked before I upgraded to OSX 10.5.3 (so under 10.5.2). Now it doesn't even start anymore, and I get the following: "Error 51: Unable to communicate with the VPN subsystem. Please make sure that you have at least one network interface that is currently active and has an IP address and start this application again".
    Does anyone have an answer?
    Thx, Nito

  • Cisco AnyConnect 3.0.2 and Mac OS X 10.7

I'm having trouble getting this to work, after my upgrade to Mac OS X Lion the Anyconnect client can no longer login. Reinstalling didn't work for me. What are other experiencing?

Can you be more specific regarding the problem?  And when the problem started?
I was having trouble with AnyConnect that began about a week before Lion was released.  I was running with Snow Leopard and AnyConnect Mobile Security Client 3.0.2052.  I started to get 'Certificate Validation Failure' messages.  I ended up setting the ASA certificate to be ALWAYS TRUSTED, as it is a self-generated certificate from the ASA.  The only 'problem/change' from previous operation is that every time I connect via VPN I need to enter my keychain credentials to allow the AnyConnect app to access the keychain.  Even when I chose to ALWAYS TRUST the application, it continues to prompt for the keychain password.
The same ASA client (3.0.2052) is now working with Lion.  I have the 3.0.3050 client downloaded but have not installed it yet.
By the way, there is an issue with 10.7 and Java, where 10.7 does not come with a Java runtime.  See:

  • MAC OS X unable to download Cisco ISE supplicant agent

    Hi,
I have a problem with MAC OS X clients unable to download the Cisco ISE supplicant agent using Safari browser but able to login on the ISE guest portal. If the same client was to login to the ISE guest portal using Firefox; it has no issues downloading the ise supplicant and posture agent.
I have tried to update the Java version on the client to the latest; however it does not resolve the issue. As I am new to MAC OS clients; I was wondering what may be the cause of the issue?
I have summarized the issue as follows:
    1. MAC OS X 10.8 with safari 6 -- unable to download agent but can login successfully on the Cisco ISE guest portal
    2. MAC OS X 10.8 with Firefox -- able to login to Cisco ISE guest portal and download agents; no issues
    3. MAC OS X 10.7 with safari and firefox ---  unable to download agent but can login successfully on the Cisco ISE guest portal
    4. Windows XP & Windows 7 & Iphone/Ipad/Android -- able to login/download agent without any issues
    Any suggestions is appreciated.
    Thanks.

For Agent Download Issues on Client Machine
    • Ensure that a client provisioning policy exists in Cisco ISE. If yes, verify the
policy identity group, conditions, and type of agent(s) defined in the policy.
(Also ensure whether or not there is any agent profile configured under Policy >
Policy Elements > Results > Client Provisioning > Resources > Add > ISE
Posture Agent Profile, even a profile with all default values.)
    • Try reauthenticating the client machine by bouncing the port on the access
    switch.
Remember that the client provisioning agent installer download requires the following:
    • The user must allow the ActiveX installer in the browser session the first time an agent is installed
on the client machine. (The client provisioning download page prompts for this.)
    • The client machine must have Internet access.

  • E2100L Cisco Connect and Network Magic compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

When you will release the latest version for Wireless router Linksys E2100L?, because I bought a MAC with Lion and I can´t use my Router.
    Regards,
    Daniel

Older versions of Cisco Connect for Mac computers have compatibility issues with the latest release of Mac OS X (10.7 “Lion”). Only Cisco Connect versions 1.4.11222 and newer are compatible with the Lion operating system.
Here is the link to ensure that Cisco Connect can be installed on your Mac: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=a4e763be954243cfa0ab960c0fac7105_KB_23xxx_EN_v1.xm...
There is no such information about the release of Cisco Connect for E2100L for the Mac OS X (10.7 “Lion”) compatibility, so you need to wait for further release of the firmrware for E2100L.

  • Cannot Log In To Cisco ASA ASDM after config IPS

    asa guru,
I Have Cisco 5540 with AIP-SSM-40, recently i config AIP-SSM-40 to capture all traffic from all interface any to any with promiscous mode and if card fail traffic still flow throuh asa, but after that i can't login to cisco ASDM, the error is "Un Able To Launch Device Manager From xx.xx.xx.xx"
    Thx

If you can still connect to the CLI, go in and remove the IPS configuration from the ASA itself.  All should need to do is remove the IPS from the service policy.  See if this gets you back in.  Also do a sh run http and see if the configuration looks good.
I can't say that after configuring an IPS module I couldn't get back into the ASDM.

    Hello Prabhakaran,
If you are unable to connect to the ASDM, you can go ahead and try to run it from the web page:
    - Open Firefox or Google Chrome and type the URL --> https://XXXXXXXX/admin
XXXXXX--> the IP address of the ASA from where you should have access (inside or outside IP address)
    - Click on "Run ASDM"
    - if this does not work, go ahead and open the Java Console by going to this path:
     Control Panel\Programs
    - Then click on the Security tab and add on the Exception site List the -->https://XXXXXXXX/admin
    - Then try to open the ASDM.
Let me know how it works out!

  • Cisco Network Assistant MAC auth issue

I have few Autonomous Access Points all managed by the Cisco Network Assistant. Users have access to wireless only based on MAC authentication.
Every once in a while the wireless access to the Access-Point fails and the following error is showed in the Cisco Network Assistant.
ERROR: The MAC address filter 700 used for association access was not created by the web interface and cannot be displayed.
    also
WARNING: Filter 700 was configured on interface Dot11radio 0.170 using CLI. It must be cleared via CLI to ensure proper operation of the web interface.
The Network Admin does not use CLI but this problem keeps coming. To fix this problem I had cleared the access-list 700 via CLI and created a new access-list 700 via Cisco Network Assistant. Adding all the MAC's each time the network goes down is a cumbersome process. Is there a solution for this?
    Thanks in advance
    error snapshot attached.

I have some site admins that use CNA.  I just upgraded their LAN to 3560v2 switches running 12.2(58)SE2 and had them upgrade their CNA software to CNA 5.7(6).  They reported the same error.
I think you clearly indentified the problem.  At one time the IOS command parser accepted both "show mac-address" and "show mac address".  At some point IOS stopped accepting the older "show mac-address" format, and CNA is still issuing this command regardless of the IOS version it is trying to manage.
