We are encountering problem in doing costume SNMP sensors in PRTG, whenever I create a customized sensor, the sensor goes up and down. We have faced this problem after updating the software of our Cisco ASR to 4.3.1. In older versions, it was working well. Is there a problem in Cisco ASR 4.3.1 SNMP with PRTG ? I would appreciate it if you can support in this case as we are in need of these customized sensors. We have gor all of them down because of the update

The standard sensors of PRTG are working well such as traffic sensors, ping etc, but the customized sensors are not working well in version 4.3.1. I always do a customized sensors for QoS, SLAs and others and they are working well in versions below 4.3.1.
Furthermore, I have tested those OIDs by using Paessler SNMP Tester and I have seen that the reading is not showing properly. For instance, I have a customized OID that shows the reading every 60s (as a minimum) only while in older versions of ASR software I can see the reading every 30s or below of that particular OID using the same version of PRTG!
Conclusion:
PRTG latest version + ASR 4.3.1 = Customized sesnors are not working well
PRTG latest version + ASR Older version = Customized sesnors are working well

How to load Cisco E2500 router software to Mountain Lion

I have a MacBook Pro. After struggling with a setup of a new Cisco E2500 router, I discovered the cd's software was incompatible with Mountain Lion. I understand there was a Cisco software update but the update isn't available for the 2500 router. I found the router's IP address. It's 192.168.1.1. Can anyone tell me - in plain English - if I can install the software without the cd. Please tell me how in the same plain English. I did see a forum mention that if one does use the IP address, one should not change the factory provided ID and password. Since both provided ID and password are "admin", and if the comment is true, then that won't work because it's as good as leaving the router unlocked. Does anyone know if the comment is true?

Router setup is not my forte; however, my instinct tells me that you will need to set it up - the other question is (and, again, not my forte): my ISP allows me to have one router. If I want another, I have to set up the first one as a "gateway" to send the signal to the second one (essentially as an extender which you said did not work). You might want to check with your ISP (the building internet provider) on how to get to routers working and/or someone with networking expertise may reply here (I can't tell from your post category, but there is a subcategory in the Mountain Lion forum specifically for networking problems:)

show facility-alarm status
to identify what the critical alarm is and then fix.
You may be able to also use
clear facility-alarm
However, most likely it could be some issue such as failed power supply, etc that will not clear.

Cisco ASR - How to connect an OTV internal interface to a FabricPath domain

Scenario - migrate servers while maintaining their existing IP address from data centre 1 to data centre 2 with minimal downtime. Diagram attached.
I'm planning on using a Cisco ASR1001-X with AES license at DC1 and DC2 and configuring the routers with OTV to extend 10 x VLANs between the data centres. The join interface would connect directly to the WAN circuit NTU and the Internal Interface would connect to the switch and be configured as a service instance with 10 VLANs tagged using dot1q. The problem is that DC1 switch infrastructure is using Cisco Nexus 56xx configured with FabricPath. I can't find any information that suggests that i can patch the Cisco ASR router's internal interface directly into a FabricPath switchport or what the configuration would be.
Older OTV documentation refers to Nexus 7000 and OTV stating the following: "Because OTV encapsulation is done on M-series modules, OTV cannot read FabricPath packets. Because of this restriction, terminating FabricPath and reverting to Classical Ethernet where the OTV VDC resides is necessary."
Is this true for the Cisco ASR also? The only workaround i can think of is to install a cheap catalyst switch connected to the FabricPath domain and re-introduce spanning-tree at the edge but this seems backwards to me. Any help or suggestions appreciated? Thanks

2 Cisco 2504 controllers but different software versions

Hello,
I am configuring two 2504 controllers, which I ordered together, however they run different software versions and I don't have a contract/ login to download wlan controller software from the Cisco website.
The one with the newest version runs 7.2.103.0 while the other one runs 7.0.220.0
I want to run them together in the same subnet and use them for redundancy (10 AP's will connect)
Is there a way I can download the software from the controller, just like I am able to do with an ASA firewall? Then I can upload it to the controller with the older software version.

No, you can not download the code from the WLC. You can contact your reseller and request the firmware.
If you have a contact with Cisco sales team you can tell them and they can open a TAC case for your behalf to publish you the code.
If your device is under warranty you can send your serial number to [email protected] along with your CCO ID. They will publish you the image if the device is under warranty. (or if it is under valid contract but you don't have the contract number).

Yes, it would. If you are planning on terminating a single site on this router I would spread over multiple routers for redundancy.

Software Version Upgrade for Cisco 4402 Wireless Lan Controller

I am loosing configuration when I power off my Cisco 857 router

I bought new Cisco 857 router from the shop. Router must have been used before as I couln't go in with default username/password cisco/cisco.
Well I followed instruciton and reset password to username and password. Now I finally connected to the Cisco CP express over my IE browser.
I found out that somebody was using a router from the shop so this is why I coun't log to it in the first place. Anyway problem is that when I changed configuration and applied settings it remembers it until I power it off. When I power it on again it remembers all settings from that shop.
It reverts everything back: IP address, previous level 15 account and password - everything like after password reset.
I tried it again and it again lost settings. So I found following instruction:

I followed it and changed again all settings on the router. My settings are again lost after power off/on. I noticed that when I do first bit it does show
0x2102 not 0x2142 like they think that is password reset mode.

Alternatively, after password recovery you can modify the configuration to be what you want, and then issue:
   write memory
to save the configuration. You can then verify that your changes have been saved to the startup config by issuing:
   show startup-config"
The only good thing is that when I switch off a router it erase configuration except my new password which I created after password reset. Everything else is getting vanished (ADSL settings, DHCP, routing ) everything. Even new admin accounts I created.
Well have a question to your above comments. I am new in Cisco so please put as much detail as you can for me to understand. When you say modify configuration do you mean to go to Cisco CP Express graphical interface and then connect router to hyper terminal and execute above commands?
Why router doesn't remember this anyway. There must be some option to change in configuration to make thing permanent when I hit apply changes in Cisco CO Express otherwise it is pointless to heve it.

I understand your concern about this router and somebodie's configuration details as you want things to be un-used when you buy them - true. ADSL details belongs to the shop which sold me the router so that is why I don't make a big problem about this. We take most of hardware from this shop and have discount and many good deals with them so I think they have been just testing it and forgot to erease their config. It might be that someone has returned router to the shop and they have repaired it and tested it.
I hope this is a normal behaviour of this router as I have option to replace it in case this is a fault.
Could you please write me step by step guide how can I make changed options stay permanently on router?

very well. the mod 160 has 4 NPU's, 2 per bay. So if you have a 4x10 MPA to serve a satellite, you effectively have a single NPU per 20 1Gigs from the satellite. The pps performance will be stellar. However it might be price technically more ideal to connect satellite with a 36x10. Since the MOD-x has native MPA's with 1G also.

3. What is the revolutions per minute (RPM) on these hard disk drives (HDDs) compared to the solid state drives (SDDs)? Will the spinning drives be slow?
depends on the type we had avaialble at time of production, you will see different sizes and disks on the RSP2. the rpm of the HD is not so much an issue as much as the buffered writing we used to do in XR. This is fixed up with XR43 where the disk writing performance is much better. the HD/SDD is used for logging storage only (and maybe your pictures) but other then that we're not that concerned with write perf of the HD.

Problem with Cisco 861W router and outgoing VPN

We have a Cisco 861W router that is blocking an outgoing PPTP on the internal access point only. The outgoing VPN works when the traffic is through a wired connection or the connection is on another access point. We fail to make a connection only when connection to the 861W's internal Access Point.

Here is my config for internal AP and router.

Cisco 1760 router stays in rommon modus

I am having problems with a cisco 1760 router. When I turn the router on I am getting stuck in rommon mode. When I enter the command: "boot flash:c1700-sv8y7-mz.123-11.T3.bin" , the router will boot the ios image. But when i turn the router off and on, it will return to rommon mode. I have tried the following commands in rommon mode:
rommon 1 > confreg 0x2102
rommon 2 > reset
or
rommon 1 > confreg 0x142
rommon 2 > reset
without results. I get the following errors:

This site is for the Cisco Small Business Pro routers.
For your problem though, you might try looking at your boot system command in your running config to make sure that it is accurate.

Cisco 1760 router will not recognize wic1-dsu-t1-v2 card in slots 3 or 4

My 1760 router will not recognize a wic1-dsu-t1-v2 card in slots 3 or 4. They only work in slots 1 & 2. Never saw this before where the same card would not work in different slots.
Need assistance.

I am looking for the command of rate-limit on a sub-interface in cisco asr 1013.

IOS XE Version: 03.06.00.S
Please let me know if it is possible in cisco asr 1013. If yes then what are the commands.

The ASR no longer supports the rate-limit command, but it does support the same functionality in a QoS policy.
Please find a sample configuration -
ASR1004(config)#policy-map test
ASR1004(config-pmap)#class class-default

Applying for both ingress and egress : -
ASR1004(config)#int gig1/1/0
