Cisco Catalyst 4507R Module WS X4424GB RJ 45, Multi-speed Gigabit Ethernet Switching Module (24-port)
i am confused if this one
Cisco Catalyst 4507R Module WS X4424GB RJ 45, Multi-speed Gigabit Ethernet Switching Module (24-port)
would be compatible to its chasis if change by this one
WS-X4424-GBRJ45-RF
Catalyst 4000 24port 101001000 Module RJ45 REFURBISHED
Yes it you get the refurbished with the good one then it would get detected and works fine.
BTW- This module is EOL /EOS and below is the replacement part for the same:

Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E with WS-X4748 blade, ports not working
I have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E (with Sup7-E) and two blades; one WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and one WS-X4648-RJ45-E.
When I connect a device to a port on the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade the port will not come up, show interface shows the status as "notconnect". When I connect the same device to the WS-X4648-RJ45-E blade the interface comes up.
The WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade seems to have initialised okay, it appears in the output of "show module" as OK.
I get exactly the same effect on a second, identically configured Catalyst 4507R+E.
The software version is IOS XE 3.1.0SG, which according to the release notes supports the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade. Has anybody else seen anything like this?I have 2 Core switches, single SUP on each.
Line cards #1 and #2 randomly stop forwarding packets, only solution is to reload the switch ( hw-module reset does not work ). I have cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.05.00.E.152-1.E.bin and the sympton looks the same as the described one,
although the code is newer than 3.2.2SG.
Now we are downgrading to cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.04.02.SG.151-2.SG2.bin to check if that solves the issue,
otherwise we´ll try removing/re-inserting the modules, and if issue persists, most probably RMA the Core1.
We´ve sent a show tech to Cisco support while the issue was happening.
Current modules on the Core switches.

CRS-1 8-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Interface Module
How much is the back plane speed for a line card on CRS-1? Does using a 8-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Interface Module in CRS-1 have an oversubscription of 2:1, like the WS-X6708 in 7209 chassis?
ThanksHello Jenny,
yes from datasheet it looks like so
see
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/routers/ps5763/ps5862/product_data_sheet09186a008022d5e9.html
or
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5763/ps5862/product_data_sheet09186a008022d5e9.html
it talks of a 40 Gbps forwarding engine
described here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/routers/ps5763/data_sheet_c78-553673.html
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5763/data_sheet_c78-553673.html
so depending on applications you may prefer a 4 10GE linecard
Hope to help

Just to add to Jon's post, it should be up to seven with dual sups or up to eight with single sup.
(Line cards are hot swappable, but I agree with Jon, ideally they should be changed during planned maintenance - just in case.)
BTW, if you're going to load up a 6509 with that many 10g cards, you may want to insure some or all have DFCs. If you do use DFCs, don't forget possible issues when matching them to sup.
Also BTW, if you need even more 10g ports, there also the 6708 and 6716 line cards for sup720s, but if you have a sup2T, there's also the 6816 and 6908. -
CISCO CATALYST 4507R+E + Supervisor 8-E
Hi,
I need help and clarification regarding the software license of Sup 7-E and Sup 8-E. Based on the catalog it ships with IOS XE universal image? Here are my inquiries.
1. With IOS XE universal image, what is the software license installed in Sup 7-E and Sup 8-E? Is it LAN Base or IP Base?
2. Is there an option to purchase the Sup 7-E or Sup 8-E with an Enterprise Base license?
3. How many priority queue does it support?
Thank you,Please find answer:
1- Cisco provides LAN Base software only when purchasing SUP7E or SUP7L-E bundle with a single Supervisor, in all other cases IP Base license is provided at no additional cost.
There will continue to be three packages: LAN Base, IP Base, and Enterprise Services. ( IP Base and Enterprise services to be purchases seperately)
2-
Q. Which licenses are available for Supervisor Engine 7-E, 7L-E or a Cisco Catalyst 4500-X Series system?
A. See Table 1 for package licenses. These will be delivered with new Supervisors or available as an upgrade through Cisco software activation. The Cisco Catalyst 4500-X Series only supports IP Base (default) and Enterprise Services (as an upgrade).

Cisco SG300-52 52-Port Gigabit Managed Switch losing VLAN-Port Membership
Hello
We have some cisco switches in use and we're facing some problems everytime the switch loses Power.
After a reboot the port/vlan membership is lost, so are other settings recently made (like SSH access allowed, etc.).
The settings made up a year ago like the IPs, password, etc. remain untouched.
Upgrading the Firmware, Saving the Configs, etc. didn't solve the problem.
Is this a known issue? Anyone facing the same problem?
Bye and thanks for the help.

Catalyst 4507R+E Clock Module
Hi,
I noticed that my 4507R+E chassis have the following module installed:
WS-X4K-CLOCK-E
I found in this EOL announcement that it's the clock module for 4507R-E chassis and is EoS since 2013:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-series-switches/eol_C51-715893.html
Why the same module is installed in the new chassis and there are no spare parts available ?
Thanks,
AronThis catalyst 4507R-E whit this Supervisor Supervisor II+ WS-X4013+ suppourt thos module WS-X4648-RJ45V+E ?
No, your supervisor only supports classic linecards but the WS-4648-RJ45V+E is not a classic line card so it is not supported. Have a look at this link and refer to Table 1 which shows which supervisors you could use with this card -

Unable to connect a Netapp San to a Cisco Catalyst in 10Gb
I have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R with a WS-X4606-X2-E and X2-10GB-SR to be connected to a Netapp SAN and it does not work.
With show interface transceiver detail it seems that the power sent by netapp is good but the link stay in dwon down state
Any help?down/down is related to layer 1 issue. Make sure the SFP is correct on both ends (and same type: LR vs SR) and also make sure you are using the right fiber. You can loop back on the same catalyst both sfps with the cable to see if the link comes up.

Which catalyst switch modules are compatible across switching platforms and families?
Which modules from 3750 can work in other switches like 3850, 3650X, etc.? For example, can a service module be pulled from 3750 & used in 3850?
Directly from Cisco Q & A:
Q. Are the uplinks between the Cisco Catalyst 3850 and the 3750-X interchangeable?
A. No, the uplink modules from the 3750-X are not compatible with the Cisco Catalyst 3850. -
Cisco Catalyst 2960X-48FPD-L Whit SFP+ 10GB
Hello!!
Can i use 10Gb Link between a Cisco Catalyst 6500 whit a Cisco Catalyst 6900 Series 8-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Module (WS-X6908-10G-2T) card and 10GBASE-SR X2 Fiber port, and . And in the other side use a Cisco Catalyst 2960X-48FPD-L (have two SFP+ bays) whit SFP-10G-SR= (multimode fiber)
this solutions works???
another question:
WS-X6908-10G-2T card comes equipped with DFC4. What mean that? requiere another slot in a 6500 chassis??
thanksHi,
Q1:- yes it should work.

WS-X6908-10G-2T card comes equipped with DFC4. What mean that? requiere another slot in a 6500 chassis??
Answer: No DFC4 is the sub-module which would sit on the line card WS-X6908-10G-2T. It doesnt require any spare slot.
WS-X6908-10G-2T: comes equipped with DFC4 for distributed forwarding, supporting 256K forwarding entries, increased ACL entries to 64K, increased Netflow entries to 512K, and increased IPv4 forwarding speed to 60 Mpps

Catalyst 4507R plus E Switch Discovery Issue
Hi,
I am having issues doing automatic discovery for Cisco Catalyst 4507R plus E Switch IOS 12.2(54)SG, I am using IP ping sweep to discover devices on my network.
When i first setup LMS4.0 with few devices on the network, i discover the C4507 without a problem together with other devices i have on the network but for some reasons now its failing to discover C4507. I have large numbers of WS-C3560X and C4507 on the network, WS-C3560X always discovered just fine.
I tried to use SolarWinds network device monitor I installed on the server to check if there's any SNMP or connectivity issues. I can discover C4507 using Solarwinds without a problem, so im suspecting it could be LMS configuration issue.
Is there any special settings I need to tweak to make this working?A newer version of IOS should generally be fine.
It's generally the SNMP sysObjectID that LSM keys into. As noted in the table you cited, it should be 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1286 for the 4507R+E. -
after upgrading ios Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 2T to the latest release the ASA-SM module is not recognized it is disabled. the FPD
is not recognized any more. reverted back to previous ios with no luckDuplicate post.

Alternative switch to Cisco Catalyst 3750v2-24FS and 3750-24FS
I`m looking for an alternative to these two switches:
1. WS-C3750V2-24FS-S Cisco Catalyst 3750V2-24FS Switch with 24 100FX SFP + 2 Gigabit Ethernet SFP Ports
2. Cisco Catalyst 3750-24FS (WS-C3750-24FS-S 100BASE-FX)
They are now EOL and not available.
I have a campus style network and need to be able to connect multiple 100FX fibre switches back to a central switch. The 1st unit uses 100FX SFP modules and the second has in-built 100FX ports. I`m struggling to find anything from Cisco that will give me multiple (i.e 12+) 100FX ports.
Could anyone please point me in the right direction?
Many thanks,
PaulHi Paul ,
Replacement for both switch is WS-C3650-48TS-S.

Cisco Catalyst Supervisor communication issue?
Hey all,
I had a slight issue regarding two supervisor engines on a Cisco Catalyst 4500 device where the keepalives between the two sups lost communication for roughly 50~ seconds. This triggered an SNMP alert but it looks like they regained connectivity before a switchover was initiated. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? You obviously need to configure the ports etc. but the switch should recognise the module as long as you have an IOS that supports it.
There is nothing extra to do, you just slot the module in.
If you are connecting all your distribution switches to the 6500 then if you don't need a vlan/IP subnet in multiple buildings then you should use L3 connections to the 6500.
Note also that you may want to consider at some time in the future a second supervisor or another chassis as this 6500 with one supervisor is a single point of failure ie. if it goes then there is no communication between buildings.
