  • Which cisco command on router can show me specific hosts which have dhcp reserved IPs

how can i get that which hosts of the network have reserved dhcp IPs as i know that dhcp reservation to be created when mac address will be assigned.
so, which cisco command on router can show me specific hosts which have dhcp reserved IPs.thanks

As said by Leo, the DHCP bindings will show the corresponding MAC addresses.
Unless you have a list of all MAC addresses somewhere (which most people tend not to) then you can use the ARP cache combined with the CAM tables to trace which ports relate to which MAC address to get more information on the host if you need it.

  • String cisco commands together (sh via ssh)

i need to update several cisco devices (all the same) and want to do it in an automated fasion.
i want to use ssh to login, enable to admin, then tftp get the image, write and be done with it...
can you string cisco ios commands (and echo pass | enable for that matter) under the cisco shell interpreter???
    ie:
    ssh admin@cisco cmd1; cmd2; cmd3; cmd4; cmd5
ultimately, ssh admin@cisco echo pass | enable; archive download tftp://path/file; write; sync; reboot
    possible?

You can do Cisco IOS Scripting with Tcl. More details are available in the following links.

  • Cisco AP1121G Workgroup Bridge Problem

    Hello,
For reference I have attached the following:
    Network Diagram
    Ping Results Table
Configurations for 1811 router, ap1121g root access point, ap1121g wgb.
I am seeking assistance with the following problem.
Referring to the attached network diagram, I cannot communicate past the ap1121g-wgb in either direction.
Also attached is a result table of ping attempts through the ap1121wgb from each side.
I don't have a problem with the wireless connections. The ap1121g's associate ok.
Based on the ping results the problem appears to be in the ap1121g-wgb configuration, but I have run out of ideas.
The following two cisco documents have been my main reference, besides the cisco command lookup site.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_configuration_example09186a00805b9b87.shtml

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks...

    Robert,
Going back to your original post and looking through the example given in the first URL, I spotted a few lines in the example configurations which apply to older revisions of code, but not newer AP code, so they may be misleading. Based on the parameter availability of station-role workgroup-bridge in your last message, would you be wiling to try the following?
Reset both 1121 APs to factory default configuration (#write erase -- do not save config to startup if prompted)
Give each AP an IP address on BVI1 so that both APs are in the same subnet
Apply the following configuration to the infrastrucuture (root) AP:
    dot11 ssid WGB-SSID
    authentication open
    interface dot11radio 0
    ssid WGB-SSID
    station-role root
    no shutdown
Apply the following configuration to the workgroup-bridge (client) AP:
    dot11 ssid WGB-SSID
    authentication open
    interface dot11radio 0
    ssid WGB-SSID
    station-role workgroup-bridge
    no shutdown
The intended goal with this exercise is to get rid of all config and to try only basic required elements of a WGB configuration, starting with fresh factory defaults. Let's see if it will work for you as a bare-bones setup and then you can add other configuration like encryption and ACLs back in later.

  • How to create custom GUI interface for Cisco router?

                       Hello,
I am working on a Cisco solution and I have my router configured for the solution I need. However, if a non-cisco person needs to use my solution then I think he will need a GUI interface which will have few "buttons" which when clicked will run some Cisco commands on Cisco router to make it work. Is there a way to design such GUI interface which is compatible with Cisco routers? I know Cisco has SDM, but that is too involved and detailed, which is useful only for people who know atleast a little bit about Cisco. Here I am looking at crowd who will have 0 knowledge of Cisco.
Please let me know if something like this can be done. If yes, how and how easily?
    Thank you.

There are lots of ways to do this - you can use SNMP or even HTTP to push or pull commands from Cisco devices. How easy it is to create a GUI depends on your programming skills. I would guess a simple web page triggering backend scripts would be the easiest way to do this.

  • Redundant Cisco Switches

diannewaters wrote:Comparing the SG300-28 and the SG500-28 seems like a good way to start although I'm really confused about how the fail-over works still. The SG300 line is not stackable, where the SG500 line is stackable (sort of) via a 5Gb/s cross over cable that plugs into a specific GBiC port on the front of the switch. If you want to protect from a single switch failure you want a stackable switch. In this case if your servers have dual network adapters you would plug each server nic into each switch. That way if either switch fails the server will still stay online. This works the same for the SG500 series and more expensive IOS based switches. On the 2960 and 3850 mentioned above, they have a dedicated high speed stacking connection, where the SG500 is limited to 5Gb/s switch on the stacking cable. For devices that only have a...

What's the budget? At the less costly end the SG300 or SG500 will fit the bill. These are small business style switches with a GUI management system although they do have a very similar command line interface to the more advanced switches I'm about to talk about...At the more costly end the 2960X-R will fit although they are not as feature rich as a 3850XR which has a full Layer 3 features and functionality. Both of these are managed via the Cisco command line. If you are not familiar with this then the learning curve will be steep. They are the best switches out there though with reliability, speed, throughput and features that are second to none.http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-2960-x-series-switches/data_sheet.......

  • Cisco 831 and "Can't get video from the camera."

I'm running a Cisco 831 router with ios 12.4(5a) installed. Every time I try to initiate a video chat with a computer going through the router, I get the "Can't get video..." error. It works fine with computers on my internal network and if I bypass the Cisco router and plug straight into my Cable modem.
I've covered every conceivable TCP/UDP port being open (per numerous pages re: port 5060, 5190, etc.) and have even gone as far as testing with "permit UDP any any" and "permit TCP any any" at the top of the rules. No luck.
I've been reading about the possibly needing to "unbind" SIP (port 5060). Is this something that a Cisco 831 router would require? The router doesn't seem to respond to any of the documented Cisco command re: VoIP and does not have any phone support that I'm aware of.
If anyone has any info that can help me get his up-and-running, I'd be much obliged.
    Thanks,

    Hi Kcritchie,
It will most likely look like that. But in this case it should be on the UDP protocol.

  • Cisco IOS

    Hi
I was wondering if there are any linksys routers available that come with the Cisco CLI IOS.  I am in the market for a new router; my wrt54g has been having issues, and i'd like to buy one with the cisco command line.  Please post if there is one available
    Thank you

Yes, gv is right, only Cisco router's have Cisco IOS...There are no Linksys Routers available that come with the Cisco CLI IOS...

  • Clear command history

How can I clear or reset the Cisco command line history?

    Adam
You can clear the command history buffer with an exec command. The history buffer size defaults to 10 but you can control the size. If you want to change the size permanently you use a command in line configuration mode: history size and if you want to change it only for your session you use this command in exec mode: term history size .
So if you want to clear or reset the history buffer I would do this:
term history size 0 (which empties the buffer)
term history size 10 (or whatever value it had been set to).
I tested it and it worked very well for me.

  • Connecting Cisco 2821 Router, Switch, and Cable Modem

    Hey everyone,
I am currently in the Cisco Network Academy at my school and just finished CCNA 1.  I have a few questions though.
I am purchasing new equipment and that equipment includes:
    1-Cisco 2821 2-port Gigabit Router
    1-Linksys SE3016 16-Port Gigabit Switch (unmanaged)
    1-Cisco WAP4410n Wireless Access Point
1-Motorla SurfBoard Gigabit Cable Modem (no router built in-Just standalone Modem used with Comcast Xfinity High Speed Internet)
    1-12U Network Rack (not enclosed)
I am confused on how I will connect the cable modem to the router and the router to the switch and the WAP so that I still have WiFi. Since the router only has 2 Ge Ports, how would I cable this up?
If my assumptions are correct, would I do the following set up?
Take the Cable Modem and run a Straight Thru to Port 1 of the Router.
Connect the Switch Port 1 to Port 2 of the Router using a Straight Thru cable (I believe I will most likely have to Subnet a network, won't I?).
Connect Switch Port 2 to WAP using Straight Thru Cable (so I still have WiFi in my home).
Connect all my computers and other devices to the Switch (this includes several PC's/Laptops, two printers that are ethernet, two TV's that are ethernet, an AppleTV and a Blue Ray Player that are both ethernet, and some Cisco Powerline Network Adapters).
    Will that set up work?
Also, how would I configure the router to work with my cable modem AND act as a DHCP Server so that all of my devices get IP Addresses? I have the Cisco Command Guide Book, but it is confusing to me as of now.
    Thanks!
    Chris

A good start but a few points I would make.
If you set the clock manually, you may find it resets itself after a router reboot. I would look at pointing it at an NTP server:
    #ntp server x.x.x.x
#clock timezone GMT (Assuming you are UK based)
Although not required, I would put a description on each of the interfaces as it may help identify them later if you are not physically in front of the Router.
    #interface gi0/0
    #description WAN
    Same for LAN
You have set up your LAN subnet with a /16 subnet mask which is effectively 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.255.254. This is a large subnet allowing over 65k hosts which is not best practice on enterprise networks. It probably won't cause you any issues but I doubt you will have any more than 254 hosts so personally I would use a /24 subnet (255.255.255.0)
The only major thing missing is NAT which needs to be configured on the router to translate the LAN IP addresses from their 10.* private range to the Public IP address on the Gi0/0 WAN Interface.
Firstly you need to define the 'inside' and 'outside' NAT interfaces which is fairly self explanatory:
    #interface gi0/0
    #ip nat outside
    #interface gi0/1
    #ip nat inside
Gi0/0 is your outside interface because its facing the Outside world (i.e the internet) and Gi0/1 is your inside interface because its facing Inside your LAN.
Then you need to tell the router which addresses to translate against by first creating an access list:
    #ip access-list standard LAN-Addresses
    #permit 10.0.0.0 0.0.255.255
Finally you need to tell the router to start translating:
#ip nat inside source list LAN-Addresses interface gi0/0 overload
Oh, I have just noticed that you do not have a 'default route' configured. A router forwards packets by first looking up the destination IP address of the packet (i.e where its going) in it's own routing table. Obviously home routers are not going to have an entry for every Public IP subnet on the internet so they use something called a default route which effectively says 'If I cannot find an entry for this packet in my routing table, use the default route'.
As you are on DHCP and your IP address (and even default gateway) could change on your WAN interface, I would not bother with the next hop address in the default route but rather use the outgoing interface as below:
    #ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 gi0/0
    Hope this helps!

  • F5 migration to Cisco Ace10

    Hello
I've been given a F5 script that i need to apply to a Cisco Ace.
The F5 script looks like its doing some http redirects with some certain match criteria and i need to convert this to Cisco command structure.
I don't fully understand what the F5 script is trying to achieve in the first place having very limited F5 experience with irules, which makes it hard for me to migrate.
Do you know if there is a F5 to Ace conversion tool or a way of acheiving this
    Thanks

    Hi Siva,
Please can you tell me what this tool is called? I've asked my Cisco account manager and they do not know. I too want to migrated a f5 BIG-IP to a Cisco ACE.

  • Boot bootldr, boot bootstrap and boot system command?

    Hello All,
Could anyone please explain me what the “boot bootldr” and “boot bootstrap” are? And how do they different from the “boot system” command?
I did not understand the description of these commands in the Cisco command reference document.
    Thanks a lot,
    Nitass

    Hi Nitass.
Boot system is used to specify the system image that loads at startup i.e the full IOS image that system will load.
boot bootldr command is used to specified a boot loader image which is an image with only booting featues and few limited commands, this image is like a safe mode for the system where we fall back on if system is unable to boot from main image.
bootstrap is the minimum software that is required to recongnize and run the hardware. It comes both in software and hardwares with the software.Like in cat 6K on Sup's is a special hardware with an image on it.
