Cisco connect software for MAC OSX 10.8.2

Cicso,
Please hurry up with releasing Cisco Connest software for MAC OSX 10.8.2
Mine doesn't work anymore with the wireless Linksys router E3000

I think we just need to wait until they update the software that will be compatible with this router. Who knows Cisco will be able to read this thread.

  • HP Prime Connectivity Kit for Mac OSX?

I recently bought a HP Prime Calculator. A fantastic product, but why, oh why, is the HP Connectivity Kit only available for Windows? At my work I borrowed a PC so I could at least upgrade the Prime once. I looked at the installed Connectivity kit and noticed the presence of some QT libraries. This makes me guess that the Connectivity Kit is built on QT, which means it should be eminently portable to both OSX and Linux.  Thus this desperate plea to HP: Please, please, release the HP Connectivity Kit for OSX.  I don't have a PC at home. Wine does not support USB, so the Kit doesn't work with Wine either. The only option avaible to me is to buy and install a PC emulator, but I've read that other people have tried that with very varying degrees of success. Some have apparently even managed to brick their Primes, and I definetely don't want to risk that.

Hi, Note that "libhpcalcs" does not support updating the Prime firmware.http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-2230.html#pid19923 It also only has a command-line interface:http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-2230.html#pid19899 However, on the plus side, it portable to Mac OSX , Windows or Linux (you may have to compile it yourself). See for more info:http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-52.html Best regards.

  • What is the best Computer Security Software for Mac OSX 10.4.7?

Spyware, Spam, Viruses, Worms, etc., etc. I know Mac is supposed to be less vulnerable than windows. However, even Mac isn't perfect. I'm considering buying a suite of software by Allume Systems: Internet Cleanup 4.0. Has anyone anything positive or negative to say about this software, or other recommendations for spyware, spam blocking, virus protections, etc.?
    ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

OS X isn't supposed to be less vulnerable than Windows, it is definitely less vulnerable than Windows by a long shot but you are right, there is no OS that can be classified as perfect in this regard.
I have no experience with the Allume suite but Norton Antivirus is compatible with Tiger.
Take a look at ClamXav which is free or donation ware. This is what Apple include/uses with Mac OS X Server.

  • When is the update for Cisco Connect software with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion?

@OfficialLinksys When will @Cisco_Support update Cisco Connect software with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion compatibility?

I believe all Mac users are waiting for that update but so far it is not yet available. We are yet to hear from Cisco for its official release for the software that is compatible already for Mountain Lion.

  • Is there virus protection software avaliable for Mac osx intel

is there virus protection software avaliable for Mac osx intel?

Plenty, but none of them really necessary. 10.6.8 has it's own in-built system. Just keep the security updates up to date to cover the latest malware quarantine definitions.

  • Cisco Connect not installing on OSX Lion

I am unable to install Cisco Connect v 1.3.11006.1 for Mac under OSX Lion 10.7.0 because Lion is not in the list of supported versions of OSX. As a result, the Setup program refuses to run.
Please can you advise when an updated Mac version of the Cisco Connect software will be released?
    Thanks,
    Daniel.

For everyone... here is the answer..... PLEASE LISTEN...
The software is simply a software version of the WEBLOG version.  The "CISCO CONNECT" is simply a bull **bleep** version hyped up, that has a bunch of bloat ware and that is advertised. The Weblog version, which is actually the original "online" control access, that still works, is not mentioned for some reason as a 2nd means of gaining access to your routers information.  What I didn't understand is why this web access site was not given before.  it's actually very basic.  Enter in this "http" access address:    What is funny is, Cisco is the only router provider with a software access CD, when it is not needed.  It's by far the most unsecure means of trying to access something, especially when it must always be "updated".  This Lion update situation is the most evident example that they should just stick with the online version that they still use.  So here it is.  Just go to this site::: Enter this in....
    192.168.1.1
Copy and past that and push enter.  As soon as you do, you will enter the weblog.  How?  It's simple.  You access your own web through your own internet connection, so the weblog address automatically detects your cisco router and shows your your security settings.  A drop down box will appear.  No need to put in a user name,,, Keep it blank.  Then type in admin as the password.  Sometimes you won't even need to do that.  if "admin" doesn't work, type "password".  If you are not already connected via your network, then make sure that you have an ethernet connection connected from your computer to port 1, of your router, so you can set up your router correctly, and so that your computer can directly connect to the online weblog, and you can set up your connection.  I had to go online, and talk to a service rep on cisco just to get this very simple information.  I asked her "why do you guys not have this website information available just in case the software runs into issues like this," and she said, "your riight, we need to address this," and I said, " I'm addressing it right now to those of us who are spending thousands on your products and can't even use it because you guys dont support it with your software."  So I hope this helps you guys.  ..

  • NSS3000 folder permissions for Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6

    Dear all,
I'm working under the following specs:
    Cisco NSS3000
Network with Mac OSX 10.5, OSX 10.6 and Windows 7
MacOSX computers are connected through NFS and SMB
    Troubleshooting:
When we copy a file or a folder from a Windows, there's no problem  with permissions. We can read, write, edit and delete the files
When we are using a MAC OSX 10.5 or 1.06 and we copy or create a file or a folder, the file or folder is only available for the user who copied the file or folder. It happens with all kinds of files.
The first idea is there's a problem with permissions settings in the NSS, or maybe in our OSX computers.
    Any help will be welcome.
    Best regards,
    Joaquim Fonoll

    One more thing:
If the folder or is created on the desktop of the mac, then can be edited (just change de name). The files it contents, cannot be changed.
Again, any help will be very welcome...
    Best regards

  • Cisco Connect Software

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can no longer use my Cisco Connect Software to manage my wireless network.  I get the following Error Message:
The router software supports these operating systems:
    - Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
    - Mac OS X 10.6.1 or later
    - Mac OS X 10.7 or later
    Any help would be appreciated.

As you might know by now, Cisco Connect might not have an upgrade since Cisco basically came out with a new application named "Cisco Connect in the Cloud". This one need a firmware upgrade on your router first to Ver.1.1.38.138880 wich you will find at http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/ccc.
Connect in the cloud is not bad, not great either but do as much as  the regular Connect and some but this time from anywere you have internet access. The Con is that you will never be able again to use the typical settings using the IP address of your router. Yap you read righ, never again unless you decide to roll back the firmware to the previous version. Cisco have instructions have to do it. Other Cons at least for me is that the download speed came from almost 12 mbps to 2 mbps. At least that what the speed test show, but i have not seen the reduce speed in real. My web access still good and super fast. If i connect directly to the modem shows almost 12, connect to the router 2mbps. Wierd.
    Any way good luck

  • Using Desktop Software for Mac with an 8703e - Can it be done?

I downloaded the new BB desktop software for Mac but it doesn't seem to work with my 8703e device.  And since I had to erase the PocketMac software to install the new BB software, I now have no way to synch my Mac and BB.  Can anyone shed any light on this?

You might check out the FileBrowser app on iTunes. I haven't used it, but it sounds like what you're after. When you say you can't use the Sierra iG2 with your iPad, I'm assuming you mean you can't plug it into the iPad. If it's plugged into a laptop and offering a WiFi hotspot, the iPad should be good with that. I use the Apple Camera Connection Kit to carry extra movies on an SD card. It uploads only to the Photos app, so no books, etc.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac won't open

I've downloaded the Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac to begin synching my new Torch but when I try to launch the software, I get the following message.
"The document “BlackBerry Desktop Software.mpkg” could not be opened. TextEdit cannot open files in the “Installer package” format."
Has anyone encountered this and had any luck getting it to open?
Any advice appreciated -- anxious to update my contacts and fully use my new phone!

    Hi choochoo2,
Have you been able to try using a different USB port or to retry connecting after reinserting the BlackBerry battery? If so, try reinstalling the Desktop Software and retrying the connection.

    Hi dimitrisuk,
    Welcome to the support community!
Can you please verify that your synchronization settings have already been configured? This article should provide more information. "Unable to configure sync or click the sync icon due to the icons being greyed out in BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac" KB26367
This link to the user guide provides the steps to verify that your synchronization settings have been configured. http://blck.by/14BZb5q

  • What is best antivirus software for Mac Mini? Recently the Trovi virus was on my computer and I want to make sure it is completely gone.

What is the best antivirus software for Mac Mini?  I had thought Mac's were safer from viruses but recently I think the Trovi virus infected my computer, I have taken steps to remove but want to make sure computer is clean.

To learn how to defend yourself from the threat of adware read How to install adware.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up",  "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver movies or other copyrighted content "for free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.
