Cisco Connect Software

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can no longer use my Cisco Connect Software to manage my wireless network.  I get the following Error Message:
The router software supports these operating systems:
- Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
- Mac OS X 10.6.1 or later
- Mac OS X 10.7 or later
Any help would be appreciated.

As you might know by now, Cisco Connect might not have an upgrade since Cisco basically came out with a new application named "Cisco Connect in the Cloud". This one need a firmware upgrade on your router first to Ver.1.1.38.138880 wich you will find at http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/ccc.
Connect in the cloud is not bad, not great either but do as much as  the regular Connect and some but this time from anywere you have internet access. The Con is that you will never be able again to use the typical settings using the IP address of your router. Yap you read righ, never again unless you decide to roll back the firmware to the previous version. Cisco have instructions have to do it. Other Cons at least for me is that the download speed came from almost 12 mbps to 2 mbps. At least that what the speed test show, but i have not seen the reduce speed in real. My web access still good and super fast. If i connect directly to the modem shows almost 12, connect to the router 2mbps. Wierd.
Any way good luck

  • Cisco connect software wants to match the admin password to cisco connect password?

As much as possible i want only one SSID for my router, so i dont want to have another SSID for guest. To protect my router
settings I need to have a different admin password from those of passphrase (i.e. wifi password).
Why is it that cisco connect software wants to match the admin password to cisco connect password?
The cisco connect password is the same as the passphrase. I think its unsafe to have similar passes for both admin password
    and passphrase.
Is there any way that cisco connect software would work under different admin password & passphrase?

From what I can tell, the router is set up so that it broadcasts two seperate SSID's with two unique passwords.  If you logon to the SSID-Guest network, you are not allowed any kind of Admin access to the router.  If you attempt to use the Cisco Connect software, you'll eventually get an error saying that it could not find a network (unless there is an unconfigured router running factory defaults in range).  I verified this using a Cisco Linksys E4200 and a few laptops.
So long as you utilize the guest network properly, you should be able to maintain security on your network and use Cisco Connect.  Obviously this isn't ideal for most commercial use, but then again I don't know why you would want to use this software on that scale.
If you are trying to keep one SSID for the network, I think you're going to have to use the web based service and do a little manual configuration.
TLDR:  Seta different password for the guest network and never give out the primary network password.  Guests don't have admin access, even while using Cisco Connect so long as they are connected to the -Guest SSID.

  • Manually managing E3000 / not using cisco connect software

ok  now i have totally by pass the cisco connect  software, and manually managing my e3000 / updating the firmware manually  and i have the ssid disabled due to people trying to connect to our router all the time and our router is password protected (wpa/aes) i need to know if manually managing the network is a good idea or not i've manage other linksys routers in the network page, i am finally able to connect and i get my full download speed 10MB/Second  now  before i was getting 5MB/second and upload speed is at a good 1MB/second before i was getting 0.3MB/second are these good speeds or what i dont know i've also ran a few test - both the hdtv & xbox on at the same time running the same item (netflix's ) both at the same speed

For better wireless connection, use WPA2 with AES security.
I think disabling the SSID broadcast will make any difference.
You can also try changing the advanced wireless settings on the router.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Open the setup page of the router and go to Wireless tab. Click on Advanced wireless settings sub tab. Change the Beacon interval to 75, RTS and Fragmentation threshold to 2304. Save the settings.
Click on Setup tab and change the MTU size to 1365.Save the settings and power cycle the router.
Now observer the wireless connection and see if that makes any difference.
Also make sure that your router is running on latest firmware.

  • When is the update for Cisco Connect software with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion?

@OfficialLinksys When will @Cisco_Support update Cisco Connect software with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion compatibility?

I believe all Mac users are waiting for that update but so far it is not yet available. We are yet to hear from Cisco for its official release for the software that is compatible already for Mountain Lion.

  • Cisco Connect software issue

I am having problems trying to load the Cisco Connect application software from the CD.  I am able to connect to router, but the Cisco Connect software never loads to the hard drive.  Any suggestions?

I think the Cisco connect software is running successfully but it is not giving you the option to lauch the Cisco connect utility. If you get the ' congratulations ' page that means it is running successfully.
When you install the Cisco connect on your computer, it generally creates option on your computer to launch the utility.
On windows computer you will find Cisco connect under All programs. Click on Start and go to All Programs and see if you can find Cisco connect.
On MAC computer you will find Cisco connect under Applications. On your desktop, locate and double-click on the Macintosh HD icon. A window will then appear on your screen.  Select Applications from the left panel on this window.  This will display all contents under the Applications category. From the list of Applications, locate and double-click on the Cisco Connect icon.  This will launch Cisco Connect and take you to its main screen.
If you are still not finding Cisco connect software on your computer then I will suggest you install Cisco connect after installing settings up your router manually.
Uninstall Cisco connect from your computer if there is any. Follow this link to install Cisco connect after installing the router manually.

  • Cisco Connect Software Download

I just purchased the E3000. I am trying to set up my laptop with Cisco Connect software but my CD seems to be broken now. Is there anywhere I can download it?
    Thanks
    Darlene

If you want to see your router's settings, you don't have to use Cisco Connect.  You can use the web GUI for browsing settings using your web browser by logging in at http://192.168.1.1.  Then you'll see the administrative "dashboard", and by following the tabs to the settings that you want to look at, you can see everything. I'd also recommend downloading the user guide for your router from Linksys Support, if you haven't already.  This explains all the settings in the administrative GUI and will make it much easier to find what you're looking for. By the way, your English is perfectly understandable *smile*.

  • Cisco connect software for MAC OSX 10.8.2

    Cicso,
Please hurry up with releasing Cisco Connest software for MAC OSX 10.8.2
Mine doesn't work anymore with the wireless Linksys router E3000

I think we just need to wait until they update the software that will be compatible with this router. Who knows Cisco will be able to read this thread.

  • Cisco should include Linux in Cisco Connect Software

I'm a fan of Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. I know Cisco took time adopting Mac to "Network Connect Pro" which is now,
Cisco Connect. I feel the time has come to include Major Linux Distros in Cisco Connect, so that all my Computers, are afforded the same secure platform for networking.
Does anyone know if Cisco has plans to implement Linux? I'd certainly like to hear opinions, regarding this scenario!
    Regards,
    John C

Since there are so many flavors of Linux, it is tough to make a "Linux" implementation of anything.  And since the market is divided, it is hard to pick the distributions.  Worse, you have to decide if it will use KDE, GNOME, or some other WM look-and-feel.
Have you tried running Cisco Connect in an emulator like WINE?  (I haven't. I'm just wondering)
You should also post this suggestion in the Cisco Home Community, http://homecommunity.cisco.com

  • Cisco Connect Software version 1.4 no longer works after upgrading to mavericks.

    Any fixes?

The fix was to replace it. OS X Mavericks is still a unsupported operating system for the router I used. Apple has some new routers for sale. Think about returning the E900,and getting one of apple's.

  • Mountain Lion 10.8.4-Cisco Connect-shutdowns kernel panic error-EA6500

    I have:
    - Mac Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.4
    - EA6500 with the latests updates (firmware..) all downloaded from Linksys web
When I install Cisco Connect to setup a USB printer, the software has some kind of conflict with OS X 10.8.4 and the system has unexpected & repentine shutdowns with a restart shutdown panic error report.
If I unistall Cisco Connect the problem doesn´t happen again
After checking all available guides and software, there is no way to solve the issue. I also chat with Linksys support and they have no idea how solve it.
It is for sure a problem of Cisco Connect software compatibility with OS X 10.8.4.
Please, some solution from Linksys or a workaround with Mac terminal commands?
DON´T INSTALL CISCO CONNECT SOFTWARE TILL ISSUE SOLVED!!

Cisco Connect would not work with a router using a Linksys Smart Wifi firmware. Also, VUSB is not going to work with MAC OS 10.8 yet. Hopefully Linksys would release an update that would support MAC 10.8 on VUSB.

I am trying to install Cisco Connect for my E1000 but I get the following error each attempt
"An HNAP Call to the device failed for unknown reasons"
I've already updated the router to 2.1 version of the Firmware.

Did you use the setup cd that came w/ the router? If yes, how about you download the one that is on the cisco's support site.  If that won't work still, setup the router manually. This link should help you: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=93d3d72ddaad4d01b2f9da5d51eaf0d4_Setting_Up_your_L...
Btw, are you trying to setup the router manually or the router is already working and you just want to install the Cisco Connect software?

  • Can Cisco Connect be password protected?

I set up a E3200 today for a friend who has a small business. He has 6 staff in his office where it is installed.
I installed it using the web interface for the router, but wanted to show him how to change the guest password using the Cisco Connect software. He also wanted to block Facebook and a couple other time-wasting sites with the parental controls.
When we started Cisco Connect, we were both shocked to see that the guest and private wireless password were viewable from the main screen with just a click or two through different windows. No where did it prompt us for a password to enter the setup portions.I understand that you have to be on the LAN to get access to this, but this means that if any of his staff are computer savvy, they could hit the Linksys website themselves and download the Cisco Connect software and make any changes they want.
Is there a way to protect the router from unintended changes from someone using the Cisco Connect software?

In my opinion, this seems to be a HUGE security issue.
If I knew someone was using a Linksys router in a small office, and I wanted to hack it. All I would do is put Cisco Connect on a laptop, walk in to that office, find an open network port and connect my laptop to it. I could capture all the security settings and then leave and come back later to get on their wifi network.
I understand about physical security, social engineering, and all that. I just cant believe that the passwords to the router / wifi are freely accessible through a software app which requires no authentication to get in to. Seems like a very half-baked application.

  • Connect Software won't connect to router after resetting router on any of my computers

I had to do a reset of the router. I have done it with the button on back and through the web based interface. I have followed all directions on uninstalling connect after restarting the router. I get an error that says it does not know if it is connected to the internet.. Well it isn't. I have tried numerous times and the connect will not install. I would like to get it back the way it was when I originally installed it. The key does remember the admin and password but it only allows me to get to the web based interface.
I have tried everything I know to get the key to work again to no avail.
Could someone please tell me what I am missing when I try to use the connect software after resetting the router?
    Thank you so very much!!!!

So as per the concern you mentioned that Cisco Connect Software won't connect to the Internet after resetting the router... So could you inform us the model number of the Router that you are using it in the Network...
As well as please inform us that who provides you Internet means who is your ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) ? Check if you can go online from the modem connected directly to the computer... If you can browse the Internet then check whether there is any manual IP address given to your computer or not...
