Cisco Customized ESXi 5.5 Update 2 Image

When can we expect to see the new ESXi 5.5 Update 2 custom image? I just checked VMWare's site and I see Update 1 but not Update 2. Is there a supported/recommended method for updating UCS servers to ESXi 5.5 Update 2 in the mean time?

1) use this utility to figure out which enic / fnic is required. eg.for ESXi 5.5 U2
Adapter Driver = 1.6.0.12 (FNIC) / 2.1.2.59 (ENIC)
Adapter Firmware = 2.2(3)

2) Install ESXi 5.5 U2, regular iso (Non OEM version) from VMware website
3) get the above fnic / enic driver from ISO image of UCS-related drivers
ucs-bxxx-drivers.2.1.3d.iso
4) update the fnic/enic driver either manually with CLI or VUM.

Patch Cisco Custom Image

Hi,
I've installed a Cisco Custom ESXi 5.5 Image in a UCS C220 M3 and i would like to know if i can install the patches using Update Manager as i do with a default image. I'm not sure if i'll have any problems because some patches update the ESXi drivers and could for example overwrite the Cisco enic and fnic.
I know HP and Dell have their repositories that i can use with Update Manager, but cannot find anything like that for cisco.

The support of the OS for UCS blades, or rack mount servers will depend on the model of your server and the firmware that it is running.
If you are looking for the Cisco 5.1 U3 download iso you can find it below. Also include the compatibility matrix, you can verify if you server does support this version based on the firmware installed.

Sorry for any spelling errors:
What is working well for us, is to always get the latest ESX(i) release from vmware, apply all patches and then make sure to install the newest drivers for Cisco fnic (hba) and enic (lan) that can be found on the vmware site.
During our first UCS upgrade (we did not have installed the Cisco drivers) we experienced some issues. A lot of our VMs lost connectivity to storage for about 2-3 minutes during the reboot of the primary FI. After opening a support request at vmware and Cisco, vmware sent us a newer fnic driver, as the standard driver included in the ESX iso did not handle hba failover very well.
Since that upgrade we always keep up to date the enic and fnic drivers for Cisco UCS. They can be found on the VMWare ESX download site.
Newer drivers are also available on the Cisco UCS driver CD, but those are not yet signed by vmware, so it may be a better idea to use those tested by vmware.
Since we are handling ESX updates like this, every UCS upgrade and everything else worked like a charm and my pulse during upgrades got divided by 2
BTW: Also with other server manufacturers we could have saved us a lot of trouble if we simply had upgraded adapter drivers earlier.

Windows 2008 R2 will not install on ESXi 4.0 Update 2

Hello,
I am attempting to install Windows 2008 R2 from an iso downloaded directly from Microsoft on ESXi 4.0 update 2. The server is a C210-M2. The iso is booting to the initial install screen properly, but when electing to install I am immediately prompted with "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." (See attached image)
Wondering if anyone has come across this issue yet and what steps need to be taken to install the OS properly.

What you want to do is ensure you have the driver loaded in virtual media when installing the OS. See step 12 in the link below from the Cisco support page.

E1200 V2 upgraded to OS 10.8.2, Cisco Connect unsupported OS, also update firmware?

I purchased myu E1200 Jan 2012. Have been intermittent loss of connection & not sure whether it is old cable modem or router or? ISP came out & checked & changed some cable fittings said looked ok, but could be my old modem. (I'm getting ready to move out of area so don't want to buy a new modem now). But also a lot of my neighbors w Cox report intermittent loss of connection.
I will get messages saying I'm not connected to internet. Usually if i go up & turn off wireless & then turn it back on, it will search & find my router. Frequently though I notice that when I check it has switched to my guest rather than primary for some reason.
I was having some of this before I even went to wifi a yr ago.
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion a couple weeks ago or so. Last night computer had a panic. I received advice to make sure all software as well as router firmware up to date. Found & updated MacBookPro Firmware update. Backed up.
Opened CiscoConnect & got message unsupported Operating System.
Reading about upgrading firmware, saw warnings about doing it hard wired or it could permanently damage router. Because of the intermittent connectivity problems & the warning, I think I would be safest to do this manually by downloading it 1st & then updating the firmware from the download.
I see that instructions say to determine Firmware version. & it also says it will ask for router IP address. I'm guessing all that was in Cisco Connect. I know it has my passwords, but now I can't get to it. It also says I can use the web set up page to get the current firmware version. For updates (but it says for pc) it shows 8/2011 & 8/2012. Since mine was purchased in 1/2012 & unless it self updated, I'm guessing it is running the 8/2011 firmware. But just noticed in the User Guide it says that when I run Cisco Connect it checks for updates & installs them. But that's kind of interesting w all the warnings about running it w a wired connection to make sure no interruptions. Not sure how I have it set up, but I usually set software updates to prompt me so I can control when they actually run.
Once I have gotten that, will I be able to manually download the appropriate firmware version? Or if I click on that, will that start a set up or update process?
If I download Cisco Connect, will it update the already installed version, keeping all my existing info? & then will that be compatible w Mountain Lion & then show me whether the firmware needs to be updated?

But anyway, I can't even open the old version!!! I just get a message about unsupported OS! So kind of hard to uninstall if I can't open it.
& for some reason when I was installing Mountain Lion, upgrading from Snow Leopard it found an old version of Parallels which I knew was not compatible. Didn't even think about this.
Its sort of working but something is not working very well. I sure wish I hadn't listened to those who said to save the $ & not get the Apple Airport Express. Their stuff works & its not hard to set up like this!

& Where is lists the info, I have so far found NO INFO about updating. I usually have my software set to notify me so I control when it updates. & I think the last times I was in Cisco Connect it was under pressure just trying to get the router working again.
Right now I feel like throwing it at something.
Well, I have twice tried to download from the list for my model & when I click on the set up icon I get a message that "Setup" is damaged and can't be opened. You shold eject the disk image." But when I click for more info it says:

UCS I/O Throttle with Esxi 5.1 Update 2 and UCSM 2.1 and 2.2

Hi,
I have heard that Cisco recommends that the I/O throttle be changed to 256 when using esxi 5.1 Update 2. Does anyone have any official information on the change that Cisco recommends?

Very interested to see the answer to this, it'd be nice if Cisco had something official on this.

Its a little confusing, but it seems the defaults you may use could be 256, or 2048.

How to download Lenovo Customized ESXi 6 for System x

Trying to find where to download Lenovo Customized ESXi 6.0 for System x?
You can find it on VMware's web site.
In regard to VMware vSphere ESXi Operating System, some vendors add features and release customized install images.
There are such for System x in the form of Lenovo Customized or previously IBM Customized.
Up to ESXi 5.5, the image file is available on FixCentral download site along with various firmware, etc. for System x servers.
For ESXi 6.0, the image file can be found on vmware.com web site as a Custom ISO.
Here are detailed steps on how to find download.
Open a browser and go to http://www.vmware.com/
To go to download page, move mouse cursor over to 'Downloads' near top which will display a menu so click 'vSphere'.
On the 'Download VMware vSphere' page, make sure 'Select Version' is 6.0, and click 'Custom ISOs' tab.
Then click the arrow left of 'OEM Customized Installer CDs' text which will display a list.
Locate Lenovo Custom Image, and click associated 'Go to Downloads' link.
A page to download Lenovo Custom Image file will be displayed so follow instructions to download. It will need to have a valid ID to login to My VMware.
Now you should have been able to obtain a copy of Lenovo Customized ESXi 6.0 for System x.
Please make sure of compatibility with your particular System x server before use.

How to get changes of a custom PL/SQL package updated in ISG?

I need some help on how to change a custom PL/SQL package in ISG integration repository:
I already uploaded my custom PL/SQL package to the integration repositoy some time ago. Now I have made some changes to PL/SQL record/table types defined in the package (added some fields and removed some others). These changed record/table types are used by a procedure I already uploaded to the integration repository. When regenerating the WSDL for my PL/SQL package in integration repository I get an error that the wrapper for respective procedure can't be found. When checking up the SQL types that were automatically generated (by JPublisher) for corresponding PL/SQL types, these generated SQL types are invalid...
So it seems that in one case JPublisher generated an empty SQL type (with no attributes). In another case JPublisher generated the SQL type with old attribute list, so it didn't adopt the changes of corresponding PL/SQL type in the package...
Can anybody tell me how to get the changes of a cusotm PL/SQL package updated in ISG? Or is there any possibility to first remove a whole PL/SQL package from the ISG integration repository (and getting rid of all old automatically generated SQL types), so that I can newly upload my PL/SQL package afterwards?

Yes, we used a higher version number - and the upload of iLDT file works fine...
But, the problem occured when generating the WSDL...
However, I think we have found an approach of how to get the changes of a custom PL/SQL package updated correctly in ISG:
1. Save a copy of PL/SQL package and then delete it in the database
2. Regenerate the WSDL for PL/SQL package in ISG (seems that all atutomatically generated JPub wrappers and SQL types are also deleted)
3. Restart all processes
4. Create the changed version of PL/SQL package in the database again
5. upload of iLDT
6. Regenerate the WSDL for PL/SQL package in ISG

Generic custom control that can display an image or swf?

Hi,
I want to create a custom control that can take an image or swf as an argument and display it in the same way.
If the programmer uses this control (which essentially is a button with custom display) I want him to be able to just state the source and the text that is to be shown. Like this:

where shape01swf and shape01swf are embeded objects as follows:

Aha, so the Image control can use an swf as a source as well?
I just assumed that it could not and I would have to use the SWFLoader to do it.

So, i assume you want to change one picture. On Stage, i have edgeAnimate (an image), and
1) i am using the div tag.
So: sym.$("edgeAnimate").css("background-image", "url(images/myImage.png)" ); will change my picture.
Link: CSS properties.
More CSS:

Using a path variable:
var myPath = "images/myImage.png";

2) i am using the img tag.
I can add a class using Edge Animate user interface.
I choose one class name: "newImage".
So: sym.$(".newImage").css("background-image", "url(images/myImage.png)" ); will change my picture.
Note: I assumed you don’t need to preload your picture.
