Cisco declares the IDS-4235 and IDS-4250 EOS/EOL

Just in case this isn't general knowledge, here are the official announcements WRT Cisco ending the sale of the afore mentioned IDS appliances, in order to make way for the new IPS appliances (The IPS-4240 and IPS-4255 respectively).

Hope this info proves useful to someone other than myself,

I can state categorically that the signature updates for these platforms will continue as will software upgrades for some time in the future. They both will support 5.0 and I have not yet started a phase out of signature updates for these platforms. I can not state how long they will be supported, but would feel safe in saying that they will be supported with signature updates for at least the next year and possibly as long as 2 years.
As an example we EOS the 4230 over 2 years ago and still update signatures on it. 5.0 is the first SW upgrade to not support the 4230 platform.

  • Need additional interface for IDS-4250

I need to add an additional interface to my IDS-4250 (Cisco part number IDS-4250-TX-INT). Unfortunately, these parts are now in an "end-of-sale" status as of May 31, 2005. Does anyone know what PCI NIC this part number really is? I'm sure it's just a "normal" NIC (3Com, Intel, etc.) that Cisco was using. Any help would be appreciated.

You are looking for the wrong part number.
The part number you want is: IDS-TX-INT= (10/100/1000Base-TX for IDS 4235, 4250)
And it is still being sold by Cisco (List price $300).
It is only the base chassis IDS-4250-TX-K9 part number that has been End Of Saled in May.
The optional 10/100/1000 PCI NIC IDS-TX-INT= is still being sold for customers to upgrade their IDS-4250-TX sensors. The primary purpose for selling the additional NIC is to support InLine mode on the IDS-4250-TX sensors.
The IDS-TX-INT= can also be used in a IDS-4235 chassis for customers wanting to run InLine mode on their IDS-4235.
Because it can be used in both the IDS-4235 and IDS-4250-TX it was decided to not put 4235 or 4250 in the product number.
NOTE: IDS-4250-TX-INT is not a valid part number.

  • How do you transfer Apple IDs from one ipad to another iPad?  I got the new ipad and gave my ipad 2 to my wife who had the first version and now I can't get my Apple ID off so she can use her Apple ID.

how do you transfer Apple IDs from one ipad to another iPad?  I got the new ipad and gave my ipad 2 to my wife who had the first version and now I can't get my Apple ID off so she can use her Apple ID.

You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.

  • If I change my apple id and password on my desktop, will the new id and password be automatically changed in my laptop, my iPad and my iPhone?  If not, is there a safe way to consolidate ids, passwords, etc."

Question: Is there a way to consolidate Apple IDs and passwords on my desktop, laptop, ipod, ipad and iphone?  I waste too much time trying to remember something different for each device or operation.

This knowledge base article is the AppleID Faq...I recently changed my AppleID password, not the ID iteself, and the passward was synced across all devices.
You cannot consolidate AppleIDs so you have to just establish one that will be used for all activities.  And keep in mind, app purchases are tied to the AppleID used for the purchase so updates have to be made using that ID.

  • HT5625 I cannot send a text thru iMessage.  I followed the directions over and over again but can't make it work.  Also how can I find out all the apple ids I may have.

I cannot send a text thru iMessage.  I followed the directions over and over again but can't make it work.  Also how can I find out all the apple ids I may have.

A wet phone is out of warranty. This is considered user damage. Even if you were able to get it to start now, the chances of it working for long are slim. I suggest going to Apple and see about an OOW replacement. One for the iPhone 4 is only $149USD and it would come with a short warranty. It is a refurbished device and you would not be worried about encountering additional problems.

  • I have two apple Ids, one for the iTunes Store and one of iCloud.

I need to be able to use the one that has my payment information to buy more iCloud storage, but don't know how to do this. I could also try to use the same payment info, but I can't, because the Apple Id I have for iCloud has a different country (Ecuador), and I need to use a US credit card. How can I fix this? Please help me find a solution.

OK, it sounds like you actually signed on your "Costa Rican Apple ID" to the iTunes & App Store. So, go into Settings>iTunes & Apps Store, and click on your Apple ID, then click on Sign Out.
Then click the Apple ID again and type in your "US Store Apple ID" and password.
Once signed on with that ID, click on your ID again, and then click on "View Account" to make sure that the Country/Region is showing the US Store flag.
If it is not, click on the Country/Region and select the US Store.
    Hope that helps!

  • HT5622 Can you have multiple apple ids and all share the same apps and music?

I have multiple devices, iphone 5s (myself), mini ipad (son), 5th generation ipod (daughter). When I receive imessages they are going to the other devices and not my phone. Is this because I have all devices set up on the same Apple User ID or am I missing something in Settings that needs to be turned on/off? I have all devices under the same User ID to control the purchases. Now I'm thinking maybe each device needs to have it's own User ID and if I switch them now, will we all still share the same apps and music? Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't you only need to create a new apple ID and put that on your phone instead of your old apple ID that is merged?

  • Is it possible to generate a report without supplying the Hierarchy Id and Entity Ids?

    Hi,
I'm new to this Chargeback JAVA API.
What I wanted was to create/generate a report without having to provide a hierarchy id or entity id.
It's like more of a dump report for all the hierarchies and entities managed by the Chargeback server.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Diwakar.
I would be doing something like this then...
    HierarchyManagerImpl hm = HierarchyManagerImpl.getInstance();
    List hierarchiesList = hm.getAllHierarchies(cbClient);
    //loop hierarchiesList
        // HierarchyEntitiesType entityType = hierarchiesList [n].getEntities()
       // entityType.getEntities()
How do I determine if this "entity" is a "vCenter Server entity" and not "vCenter Chargeback Manager entity"?
Im quite confused on the following classes and please confirm if getting the steps for getting the attribute value is correct:
    HierarchyType
HierarchyEntitiesTypethis has a getEntity() which returns a list of:
HierarchyEntityTypethis has a getAttributes() which returns
EntityAttributesTypethis has has a getAttribute() which returns
    EntityAttributeType
does invoking getValue() return 101 for Chargeback Manager entity or 0 for vCenter Server entity? (based on cbm_users_guide_2_0_0.pdf, Table 4-1. p57)
    Thanks heaps for any help.

  • Can IDS-4250 shun only one of multiple managed devices?

I have an IDS-4250 that is monitoring 2 PIX
firewall. If an attack is generated the IDS sends a shun command to both PIX.Is it posible to block only one of the PIX.
If i use a second monitoring interface to manage the second pix would this help not to be blocked by the IDS?

As far as my understanding of IDS (4235) goes, IDS will send the shun to all the devices it manages. There is no configuration option to specifiy which devices to be shunned. So all devices are shunned. I believe this should be true for 4250 as well. Can anyone confirm this?

  • Stuck at 1st Step - IDS 4250

I am trying to test IDS 4250 in my test setup with console access i connected the box & just to find the serial number of the box i tried
sh version - it doesn't show the serial number
sh system - no such command.
& not able to find any command to find the Serial number of the box through console access.
Can some1 help me wats the right way for this.
    The details are :-
    sensor# sh version
    Application Partition:
Cisco Systems Intrusion Detection Sensor, Version 4.1(1)S47
    OS Version 2.4.18-5smpbigphys
    Platform: IDS-4250

Using 241197056 out of 1980493824 bytes of available memory (12% usage)

Cisco Systems Intrusion Detection Sensor, Version 4.1(1)S47
    OS Version 2.4.18-5smpbigphys
    Platform: IDS-4250
    Sensor up-time is 7 min.
Using 252092416 out of 1980493824 bytes of available memory (12% usage)
Using 529M out of 15G bytes of available disk space (4% usage)
Neither in sh tech-sup i am able to get the serial number.
On the Box the Serial# is of DELL Server.
    Please help.
    Thanks ..

The show version command does not include the serial number in 4.X. If you upgrade to 5.0(4), then show version will provide the serial number. Your only option in 4.X is to view the SN visually from the physical tag on the sensor.

  • Is there a way to run IDS within Websphere to recieve messages through JMS, then invoke Documaker?  Configuring the IDS client to use JMS within websphere seems pretty straight forward, but I cannot find information on running IDS as a server to invoke Do

Looking to move the maintenance of our IDS instances which drive Documaker MRLs from the Unix command line to within a container ( Websphere ).  Using the IDS Java client with JMS is pretty easy.  I cannot see how I would be able to get an IDS server running within Websphere.

IDS is not designed to run in WebSphere or any other J2EE container. It is a standalone Java application that uses native code, allows to run custom code, reads and writes files on disk, starts other processes, etc. and as such is not exactly suitable to run in J2EE. Most of such actions are not enabled (at least by default) in J2EE due to security concerns. You could run it as a service on Windows or setup to start automatically on Unix.
What exactly do you want to achieve by it being in J2EE container? Perhaps there are other ways to do the same thing?

  • Import Wizard fails to export - object could not be written in the ids-file

    Hello,
the complete export of the BO environment into a biar-file with the import wizard fails. In the wizard's dialog every option is choosen as "all". When the export is started it stops already in the folder objects. The log file says the object allocation could not be written in the ids-file. So I presume a problem with references.
In order to figure out which object is responsible for the error I varied the export and finally identified the "repository objects" as the the responsible type of objects. When I now run the export and only use the needed repository objects it works fine.
But I don't know, if export is complete (I presume it).
Has anyone a idea what the reason can be for this problem? Can it be fixed in the database? This kind of export did work fine the week before.
    thanks, matthias

Could you quote the entire error message, word-for-word, verbatim? What Import settings are you using ... Copy, Move, Add?
Most likely you have a permissions issue, but it will be much more clear to me if I can see the entire message.

  • Can I deploy the IDS applications to Weblogic?

Can I deploy the IDS(Form 10g) applications to Weblogic?
    thanks!

I'm not sure that's entirely correct.
Personally I run both EJBs and servlets/JSP in OC4J. OC4J has all the 'web' features of IAS, including full SSL support.
From a speed perspective, running the EJBs and web components in the same container will give you a huge benefit.
Also I'm not sure what you mean by "you can't deploy EJBs into OC4J yet" - I do it daily? ;)

  • I can't see 'Object selector' in the IDS MC

In the IDS MC, when I chose Configuration Settings I can't see 'Object selector'. And then I can't select any IDS sensor. I can only work with 'Group Global'.
Have you any ideas how I can resolve it ?

There is a known problem in some cases with a CMF server in SSL mode and clients using the JRE 1.3.1 without SP2. This problem affects applets and
causes them to not initialize correctly. Typically you will see an empty area where the applets data should be.
The known workaround for this is to browse to the desktop using this URL:
    https://:1742/login.html
    Instead of the standard URL:
    http://:1741
This will bypass the initializer problem and you should be up and running OK.
