Cisco DVR constantly loses subscription infomration

I just "upgraded" to the Cisco DVR, and I'm finding that it frequently (like several times an evening) pops up a message indicating "You are not subscribed to"" whatever channel I'm watching. So I go through the troubleshooting, or reboot the box, or call the number for a reset, and the problem is solved, for a few hours.
Is this a common issue with this box, or did I maybe get a bad unit? I have never had an issue with my previous DVR.
Thanks,
Joe

  • Macbook Constantly Loses Internet, but not Wireless Signal

I have a black 2008 Macbook (don't have the full specs on me since I'm on my work computer) and it constantly loses internet connection (i.e. I can no longer visit websites), however Airport continues to show full signal strength to my wireless network. I think it may be a DNS issue. Is it possible for the Airport card to go bad? Has anyone else had these issues?
FWIW, I'm using AT&T U-Verse for my internet connection. I think the issue is specific to my computer. My two roommates also have macs, and they have no problems with the internet dropping.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No idea if I'm honest. I used a landline phone on the same line as the broadband. When i used the phone, i could hear it crackling.Once they had done whatever they did, that crackling disappeared.

What make, model, and version router are you using? How is it configured? Does it have the latest router firmware from the manufacturer?

  • B210A constantly loses connection

Set my B210A up on the network, and it constantly loses connection. It wll connect then lose connection 2 minutes later, then reconnect by itself, then loose connection 1 minute later. I set it up, cleared defaults and reset it up, and the report said I had 146 disconnections (1 hour period). No other device on the network is having this problem.
    Router (Netgear N600)
    WPA
Trying to print from HP Dv7-4290us
    DHCP
    Auto IP
I wanted to add this does not happen when it goes to sleep. It happens when it is ready to print. In fact I can not install the printer on my computer becasue it does not stay connected long enough.

    Hello rkboid,
Seems like the network connection of the unit is a little unstable. You can try solving this by giving the unit a static ip adres. This means the unit will keeps it's ip adres instead of getting a new one from the router every few days or so. This can be a lot of help with unstable connections.
This is how to do it.
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.  If it is 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.x.x then the printer is not connected.  You will have to re-connect it using the same method you did originally.
Now that it is connected, this is how to set a static IP:
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings. (if this does not work, you likely have a firewall and/or security system blocking it - please advise).
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. Enter the current IP address that is on the printed page.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - As Gateway use the ip adres of the Router and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'.
Reboot the printer and your computer and after this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address. But not always needed.
Let me know if this works for you.

  • My I pad 3 constantly loses my wi fi signal. Does apple have any plans to correct this or should I return it. This was not an issue at all with the original one.

My new iPad 3 constantly loses the wi fi signal.  Does Apple have any plans to correct this issue or should I return it. I had no problem with my original I pad.  Both are in the exact same location in my house. I'm finding this very annoying and disappointing and am being forced to us my 4 g data plan

You may already have tried this, but before you completely give up, I'd check your home router software and also reset the router.  I haven't seen this particular issue arise on these forums with new iPad devices, so perhaps it has to do with outdated software or configuration on the router not playing well with the new device....

  • After upgrading to Maverick, my computer constantly loses internet connectivity

I have an iMac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, 1 TB storage capacity.  Since upgrading to Maverick, my internet seems to lose connectivity constantly.  Almost every time I open up Safari and type in a search, I get an error message that I am not connected.  All I do is just press the Enter button a couple times, and it connects and opens up a web page.  If I am watching a long video (20 minutes long), the internet will almost always cut out during the video, and I just have to click on the bar at the bottom of the video to get it going again.

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Boot times/issues for Motorola vs. Cisco DVRs

We have a solar powered home, and I'd like to keep our DVR off during the night when we're not recording anything to save power.    Is there any difference in the boot time or issues around repeated booting between the Cisco Chs435hdc, and Motorola 7232 DVRs?
I noticed that the Motorola consumes less power (22W vs. 27W) so would like to switch from the Cisco to the Motorola all else being equal.   How can I switch my DVR to the Motorola 7232?      (we just started our service)
    Thanks for any help!

Unfortunately we don't have any stats on the boot times between the respective units. While I understand your want/need to power the boxes down at night they are actually designed to stay on ( in a lower power state when off) so they can accept guide data and software updates. Since they are designed to stay on we can't really speak to the effect repeated booting would have on the units over time. To address your swap question we will need some further information.  Please look for a private message in your forum inbox.

  • Cisco DVRs - What Happened to the Buffers?

    Hi Folks:
I've had FiOS Triple-play for about 8 months now.  During that time, I've had my fair share of problems, mostly with misbehaving DVRs.  My experiences with Verizon's tech support were mostly negative (they were able to solve my problem only about 15% of the time).  So I have registered on this forum in hopes that those reading it might be better equipped to offer solutions.
I have had lots of experience with lots of different DVRs, but this Cisco CHS-435HD sets a new record for behaving badly.  The following is the most recent example of many.  On most of my previous DVRs, if you tune to a specific channel and leave it there, 2 hours later you can rewind that channel as far back as 90 minutes and watch from there.  I believe that the Ciscos used to do that when I first got mine (June 26, 2012).  This feature is handy when, say, you want to rewind the local news to the beginning, and be able to flip through the dozen or so commercials.
NOW al of a sudden, both of my DVRs are only buffering between 20 and 30 minutes.  So if I come in at 5:35PM, I'm unable to rewind to 5:00PM.  I have done the usual hard resets on both machines.  Hence, my question: WHO CHANGED the maximum buffer time?  And WHY?  .

Wow, this is a new one for me. I haven't heard of it before. I don't own the Cisco. My really old Motorola SD-DVR only allowed 30 minutes. But as long as I've had my old Motorola MRDVR, I've always had the ability to rewind the last 60 minutes.
The reasons I can think of off the top of my head that you can't rewind the last hour:
A recording ended on that channel, leaving you tuned to the same channel, but unable to rewind past the end of the recording.
Someone else changed the channel, then changed it back. You came in after and assumed it was always on the same channel the whole time.
The box was reset within the last hour. Was there a red screen when you turned it on?
An EAS alert interrupted the buffer within the last hour.
    Can I buy a vowel?
The standard solution for all things DVR related is:
Menu > Customer Support > Fix FiOS TV Issues > Set Top Box Auto Correction
From here follow the prompts using your arrows and OK button to select and reboot your DVR.
Does this do anything different than just unplugging the box (which was the old stand-by solution)? I don't know. Sometimes it actually works.
    Best of luck.

  • Bluetooth constantly loses connectivity

My mac mini is constantly losing bluetooth connectivity.   I have an apple wireless keyboard and trackpad and non-apple bluetooth speakers.  They will all lose connectivity at random times but the most annoying is the speakers.  It can take 5-10 times removing them and re-connecting before they work properly the keyboard and trackpad will usually, though not always, connect by using the on/off button.   But this is most annoying.  I have reset my airport extreme as per suggested but this did not help.  I have removed my wireless telephone from my desk thinking it might be interfering, but nope didn't make a difference.  I thought Apple was less bothersome than Windows but this doesn't seem to be the case for me! Any help would be appreciated!  Lori

  • For those who constantly lose their wireless internet connection using WRT54G

Ok I was constantly losing my wireless internet connection on my LAN network when using my laptop, I tried everything to no avail, until today. Heres what I did to solve my problem
    1. Upgrade your firmware for the WRT54G to ver.6
    2. Reset your wireless router
    3. Unplug all cables and wires from your Pc and router
    4. Connect your Pc directly to your cable modem and obtain an internet connection
    5. Now transfer files you want to keep from your laptop onto a usb flash drive or burn them to a disk
    6. Reformat your laptop so that it goes back to all factory settings just like when you bought it
    7. When completely done reformatting run software that came with the WRT54G on your desktop pc and follow all instructions, when prompted to type password type the password you last used
    8. Go to your laptop and it should pickup a LAN,click connect, it will ask for the encryption key so type it in(whatever you typed when re-installing your wireless router)
Congratulations you are now back up and running, install files saved earlier back on your laptop and enjoy. This is what I did and it solved my problem as a matter of fact i typed this from my laptop and has not dropped my wireless internet connection yet.
NOTE SAVE ANY AND ALL FILES YOU WANT TO KEEP AS REFORMATTING WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOSE DATA!
IAM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ERRORS OR PROBLEMS THIS PROCEDURE COULD CAUSE IF DONE INCORRECTLY!

If you bought a version 5 or 6 return it to where you bought and apply the money towards a WRT54GL v1.x  You'll be much happier.  You could spend time online rather than pulling your hair out trying to figure out whats wrong.  I setup 6 Linux based WRT54G's with no issues before I was given the task of setting up a version 6.  Worked for about an hour.  Told the guy to return it for a GL.  Long story short, set it up in a matter of minutes and he was online.  That was 3 weeks ago and he is very happy.

  • Officejet Pro l7580 Constantly loses connection to wireless laptop!!

    Hi and thanks for helping.
I have an Offiecejet Pro L7580 and use it on my network, servicing a desktop and a laptop. The desktop is wired to the router while the laptop is wireless. Concerning my desktop, the printer connection is solid. It is 100% dependable. My laptop is a completely different story. I noticed that it would connect just fine and print, scan, etc... But after about 10-15 minutes it tells me that it is disconnected. This has been a continuous problem. Both systems use win.7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I found out that if I go into my D-Link DI-524 wireless router and change my wireless channel from one to another, it automatically reconnects. This means that my printer... or laptop is losing a connection due to channel activity. I have tried multiple channels in case of wireless interference from other devices. It happens all the same. This either sounds like a printer firmware problem that loses connection when the router channel cycles, or my laptops network card (even though I never lose connection to the internet). My laptop uses a buffalo mini usb wifi adapter (thanks to a widely known problem of DV series factory defects).
Please help me find out what the problem is.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Here are a few things to try:
    1. Update the firmware on your router.
    2. Set a static IP address for your printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.168.0.100 to .199  Enter 192.168.0 220 for the IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Pages on iPad constantly loses my writing. Alternatives?

I write on an iPad, using Pages. I frequently go back to Pages the next day to find the previous day's writing gone. I've called Apple Care for support, and their only advice to me was to make sure I close the document when I'm finished with it, which I do. Short of emailing every document to myself every time I finish with it, does anyone have suggestions for writing apps that will not lose my writing? I bought the iPad to be my mobile writing device, but losing writing is not acceptable.

I'm using iCloud, and this problem seems to happen most when I'm working somewhere with a WiFi connection, which makes it even more confusing. I'm connected to iCloud, so why is the writing getting lost? The other option I have is to email the document to myself every time I add to it, though it irks me that that would be necessary.

  • IPad constantly loses wifi connection

I have an iPad and a iPad 2. They both disconnect from my home wifi connection constantly, every few minutes. I could be standing right next to the router and the problem persists. Surely this isn't the normal function of a $400+ device that claims "iPad with Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay connected". I also have a macbook and an iMac which have no issues connecting to the wifi. Is there something wrong with the iPad? Can you change the settings to solve the problem?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
