Cisco EPC3925 EuroDocsis Wifi turned off but light stays ON w/ recently updated firmware

hi there
i have a Cisco EPC3925 EuroDocsis 3.0 2-PORT Voice Gateway and i just noticed that today they pushed an OTA firmware upgrade via ISP "Melita" here in Malta.
It looks like now when i disable the wifi, the green led for wifi still stays on, did anybody notice this? I have this firmware now:
Model:
Cisco EPC3925
Vendor:
Cisco
Hardware Revision:
1.0
Serial Number:
MAC Address:
Bootloader Revision:
2.3.0_R1
Current Software Revision:
epc3925-ESIP-16-v302r125573-131025c-l2gre
Firmware Name:
epc3925-ESIP-16-v302r125573-131025c-l2gre.bin
Firmware Build Time:
Oct 25 11:30:50 2013
Cable Modem Status:
Operational
Wireless Network:
Disable
if anyone has a link to a newer or older firmware, i'd like to change this one, we don't normally use wifi and prefer the cable. I checked with inSSIDer 3 and when the wifi is disabled it cannot be found but i am really thinking if that's for real since the light is still on....
any help appreciated..
thanks
Gabrio

hello everyone,
The technical supoort of my ISP got back to me with the following:
The fact that the Wi-Fi light on your Melita cisco modem is still switched on is because we have recently launched the new Melita Wi-Fi, where all Melita’s cisco modems are being used to broadcast this signal so that customers with Melita mobile can connect to Wi-Fi wherever they are. The cisco modem is being used only as a repeater to boost this signal and it will not affect at any time the connection that Melita is providing you.
Having said that this option may be switched off by turning the modem to bridge mode, by doing this you will eliminate completely the Wi-Fi option from your modem. If you wish to turn your modem to bridge mode kindly follow the link below to guide you through the process.
http://help.melita.com/index.php/bridge-modestatic-ip/
so anyone else that wants to do the same, feel free using that guide.
One piece of advice.... if you don't plan in using another wifi router to plug to the CISCO, should you want to have the wifi again, then you need to log to http://192.168.100.1 and then switch back to "router" mode from "bridge" mode. DHCP will not work in bridge mode so if you just turn on wifi, you will have to manually configure it. Or switch back to "router" for the time being.
When you enable bridge mode, you cannot log to http://192.168.0.1 maybe obvious but good to know.
I have to say that this ISP pushed this OTA update without saying anything to its customers for boosting their signal to their mobile customers, very nasty indeed. I don't like to have the wifi on at home when nobody uses it, it's bad for the health, it made both me and my wife having headaches in the past, so if i need it, i turn it on, otherwise it's OFF and i want to have the freedom of doing that at my will.
There's already too many microwaves and wifis out there, at least at home i want to control it!.

  • LaserJet Pro 200 Color M251nw : Wifi turned off but still broadcasting

    Hello there,
First of all, forgive my English.
I have a HP LaserJet Pro 200 color M251nw, so it has wifi capability. Since the printer is plugged with an ethernet cable to my router, I don't feel the need to use the wifi embedded in the printer.
Thing is, when if I turn off the wifi on the printer, and even if I disable "wifi direct printing", I can still see the SSID of the printer on my home devices (HP-Print-a6-LaserJet 200 color).
I have looked on the forum and tried the "factory reset" by turning on, unplug both printer and wall socket, wait for 15 seconds... etc. It didn't work. I have also already installed the latest firmware.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :-)

    Hello revlib,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Turning off the Wireless Direct on the LaserJet Pro 200 color M251nw should have disabled the SSID from broadcasting. Since disabling from the front display did not resolve, let us try from the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
To access the EWS you need to enter the I.P address for the M251nw into the address bar of your web browser. The I.P address can be collected by touching Setup ()> Reports> Network Summary.
Once in the EWS, click Network> Wireless Direct Setup> select Off and Apply.
Let me know if this has help

Have you plugged the USB cable into the computer also as the brightness is controlled over USB. If this does not work, you would need the Apple Display Driver for the version of Windows that you are using. The display driver is part of BootCamp software that you may be able to find online

  • I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, can't join existing wireless network with AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC wifi turned off.  How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. working fine with TM

I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, I just found out that it can't join existing wireless network with new AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC's wifi turned off.  How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. It is working fine with TM.  My cheeper seagate drives etc kept crashing, so i didnt trust cheeper back up options anymore.  Connected those drives to TM via firewire and could see the drives and access them.
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed.  I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc.  I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast. Getting over 50mbs downloads and over 30mbs uploads.  Plus everything in my home it connected to my fios router, airport express for music streaming, two apple tvs, vuezone camer system.  I really didn't want to monkey around too much with my system.  But are there other options to connect the new TC.  Can't find info anywhere for this and called apple who gave me the info above.  after hanging up, i see that i cant access my TC and I am wondering if i would have to reset it to turn wifi on again to make changes to the drive, turn off blinking light  or repair it in disk utility if it should become corrupted.
For other with similar issues i did solve some other problems: when i connected it to my ethernet port on my iMac wifi stopped working.  Found that I had to turn off the ethernet in the system>network screen, but then TM didn't see the TC so i restarted after changes and then it saw it.
Now a rant.  I can't believe in this wireless age that Apple would make a product that cant join a wireless net work.  The apple rep said i could return it and look for the previous TC that would join an existing wireless network.  Are we going backwards?
    Thanks!
    lennydas

Ok... it is getting a bit clearer but there are still some questions.
I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast.
I was assuming airport in this statement in your first post meant the TC or the Express.. but I now realise we are still in the mass confusion stage where apple calls everything wireless an airport. So what you mean is the airport internal card of the computer??
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed.  I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc.
    I think this is mistaken.
Putting the TC in bridge mode plugged into your FIOS will not slow the network.. nor will it cause mail or port issues.. in bridge the TC is just a fancy WAP and switch plus the network hard drive.
If the computer is close it will be faster than the FIOS.
You can run both wireless networks with different names.. so it is clear which is which. But you can also setup roaming so the computers themselves pick which is the best wireless.
I tried extending the wireless net work and tried joining wireless network, but the TC kept crashing and I had to keep resetting the TC.  the Apple support person said these, extend wireless network and joint wireless network, are no longer a connection option with the new TC because of the new AC protocol.
    Thanks again!
You cannot extend to a non-apple wireless router.
You cannot use join a wireless network because when you do the ethernet ports will be cut off.
But that has not changed.. I don't think Apple support is correct.. there has been no change with the AC model.. it is simply a fact that apple routers do not work in join wireless mode other than as a dumb client. The same applies to AC as to the earlier version.. but I have asked another person to check this.
Join in the express is the only apple router that still allows an ethernet connection.
For now you best use of the TC is bridged to the FIOS. Wireless you can sort out between several options.

  • Satellite A660 How can i turn off the lighting of the power button?

Hello, I recently bought a new Toshiba A660-1FL.
However bothers me is the lighting of the multimedia keys, if I work in the dark.
In Bios I could turn off the led illumination, but the power on/off button is still lighting, that distracts me when i am working.
This notebook has two power LED, so the power on lighting is in my opinion, unnecessary.
My question is: How can i turn off the lighting of the power button?

Here you can see the LED with the same function in front of you: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/t009aae62jpg.jpg
Yes in fact, the difference is color, design, but also location and brightness of the LED.
For me, this LED is too bright and it is distracting in the dark, as you can see here: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/leddf570760jpg.jpg
I was today at a local electronics store, and saw that Toshiba has the brightest Power LED on A660, but why it must be placed under the LCD and not in the front as in my old notebook Toshiba A210.
I also had the idea with a tape, but it would look ugly, and it must be removable without residue.
P.S. Also the fingerprints on the glossy keyboard do not look nice.

  • Wifi turns off when screen turns off

Hi all.  I noticed that my wifi turns off when my screen turns off (to save energy) on my brand new rMBP.  The mac isn't asleep, just the screen as I have specified in the settings to turn off but the actual laptop is still on.  Well when I move the mouse or press a key, the screen naturally comes on right away but I noticed that wifi turns on and reconnected.  So if I was streaming music or something, it would stop and disconnect when the screen goes off.  Does this make sense?
How do I disable this?  I don't want my wifi to turn off at all when my screen turns off.  If I'm downloading/streaming or whatever, I want my connection to remain on.  Thoughts?

    edit:
i know there's the option "prevent computer sleeping when screen is off" under power adpter, but i would like it done while running battery.
    thank you.

  • Wifi turns off and mobile data turns by itself.

Like I said, Wifi turns off and mobile data turns on by it self. I have actually see it do this while I am using it. I am getting sick of having to back into setting to turn mobile data off and wifi back on. My phone started doing this a couple months ago and is doing it more and more frequently wasting all my mobile data. I have had the phone a little over a year. I'm not sure much can be solved in the forums but I also don't know how to contact Blackberry Support as they seem to just direct people here. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Oh wow...that's a really ancient OS. There was one more in the 10.2.1 branch after that, then the entire 10.2.2 branch, followed by 10.3.0, 10.3.1, and now 10.3.2...so you are perhaps 25, maybe 50 updates behind now? Not surprising that you are suffering from problems that have likely been cleared up since. I cannot recall specifically if the problem you are reporting was in that specific OS version...it's been way too long since I used it (I'm on 10.3.2.840 now, on all 3 of my devices). Regarding the space issue, refer:Article ID: KB36394 Unable to upgrade to BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 or later due to insufficient spaceHowever, given your ancient OS, it is rather likely that you will have trouble with updating, especially in regards to backup/restore of your data. It has been reported that some who jump too far ahead find that their data cannot be restored to the updated device OS. So, to prepare, I advise you the following:Use LINK to conduct a full backup to your PCManually copy the entire contents of Device Memory to your PCPurchase and use Ultimate Backup to backup your data to your media cardPrepare full manual documentation of all configurations, account credentials, added apps, etc. (in case, in the worst case scenario, you cannot restore from backup and have to manually reconfigure everything)Hopefully this advice is way more conservative than you require...but better safe than sorry. If the official methods don't work for you, then you can consider the unofficial AutoLoader method (which, given your ancient OS, might actually be a "cleaner" way for you to go, but will require backup/restore or manual reconfiguration as AutoLoaders are completely destructive to everything presently on the device):http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using-Autoloader/td-p/2466747#nobannerhttp://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/You will want to research carefully what OS you choose, however...be sure you choose only an officially released (by at least one carrier) version and not a true "leak". Also beware of moving into 10.3.2...the government-required "kill switch" has been added to 10.3.2, and hence also includes a block that prevents you from falling back to 10.3.1. Good luck!

  • WiFi turns off after an inconistant amount of time until restart.

On my MacBook Pro. My wifi turns off at certain times. So to battle it when I feel its about to go I'll turn airport off and on again. I don't get it. It really happened after installing 10.5.7. Although I remember once long before that the airport turned off and went back after restart. Could have been with 10.5.3. I ran Apple Hardware test (not the through one just the normal one) and it said that my hardware was fine? Is everyone experiencing this on All 4,1 MacBook Pro 17" Models?

  • WiFi Turns Off On My Mid-2011 iMac 21.5-inch Mavericks

    Hi everyone,
This has been an off and on problem that recently became pretty much more frequent. Basically, I'll be sitting and working on my mid-2011 21.5-inch iMac running Mavericks (and Mountain Lion before it) and the WiFi will stop working. I have to turn it off and back on again. It happened so infrequently, I didn't bother with it. Since Monday, it goes off and won't come back on and I've switched to my small MacBook Air, which has no problem.
I've tried resetting the network preferences, but it still isn't working and the WiFi turns off again. Pages don't load but it never says 'Offline.' I have a WiFi router from Comcast, a Netgear WN10000. Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Heath

I have been having the same issue since the beginning of this week.  Very annoying to say the least.  I've also taken the same steps, as well as rebooting the router, and the problem persists.
    I have a 2013 iMac 27" running Mavericks.

  • Wifi turns off itself and can't be turned on back except restart when I press the bottom of macbook pro

When i use macbook pro in the bed,my hands usually support the bottom of macbook , which usually causes my wifi turns off. I removed the bottom case of macbook pro,and found the wifi card connector is in the centre of bottom just where my hands usually support. I turned on macbook pro to test and found once I pressed the connector the wifi would be off and never be turned on until restart system, same as the result when I unplugged the connector from interface
and plug it back in.  So that is the cause of the problem! Does normal wifi card really should have to be turned on back by reboot when I replug connector? Why just pressing the connector makes wifi card disconnect from the notebook. How can I fixed it? It never happened before.

Thanks, but the problem is more complicated I guess. I just had the same problem, but now my MacBook Pro was completely frozen .... I couldn't do anything any more besides restarting.
After the restart, the Aiport doesn't come up again - ergo: the symbol on top of my MacBook is shows that the Aiport hasn't been installed: when I click on this symbol there is a text which says:'There is no Aiport card installed!'. So the system doesn't seem to find the Aiport card. When I use the 'Systemprofile' under the Apple and select Network > Aiport-card I can read 'no information has been found'.
I don't get it .... is this a hardware or a software problem?

  • WRT54Gv2.0 wifi turns off randomly

My parents are starting to have a problem with their router this past week. Apparently when watching TV after the show is over and the TV is turned off the lights on the router dims and their wifi router is not able to be found any longer and they have to reset the router in order to find it again. I downloaded the newest firmware version 4.21.5 yesterday since they had the original firmware from years ago thinking this may solve the problem. It worked for a day and then stopped with the router having the same symptoms. They have this router located very closely to their plasma TV for the past 3 months, however, I was reading that wifi routers do not cause any interference with plasma TVs. They had this router placed near their old rear projection TV for years and never had any problems.
Could the router be going bad? Could the router be too close to the TV? What could be the problem where the signal would just stop?
    Thanks in advance

Yes, there's a possibility that the router is going bad considering the instability with the internet now that as what you've said working fine before. Upgrading the firmware is an apparent solution however though I've read somewhere that whenever you upgrade the firmware a reset should be done (set the router to default settings) to make sure the new version is installed properly. So, if you haven't reset the router I suggest you do it then reconfigure the internet again because once you reset it, you'll lost the internet through it. You may refer to the links below for the reconfiguration instructions if you have Cable or DSL internet.

  • Turn off the light?

    Hi,
I would like to completely disable the green light during normal operation of the unit. Is that possible? The Airport utility seems to only allow me to switch between blinking (activity) and a steady light.

This is the first thread my search turned up after wanting to see if my light could be turned off.
    LOL.
I hope Paklonder's dark response is tongue-in-cheek, because I'm going to be searching out opaque tape with adhesive that makes it removable, but doesn't get all slimy from the warmth of the light.
    Edit:
Changing Airport Utility/Base Station/Options/Status Light to Flash on Activity, and turning it 90º goes a long way.
I just spent time searching through my other AV device menu trees and was my success with finding a way to turn off those lights was denied. I forgot to even look first with the Airpoirt.
The Feedback page is a good place to drop a suggestion for features.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/airportextreme.html
All right. I have one for Art Bell:
I found the Airport Feedback page I pasted above with the keyword search "feedback and airport." When I just went to leave my feedback the subject line for my feedback auto-filled with "Re: Turn off the light?" I'm not sure, but I bet that was my keyword search that got me to this thread. I think someone at Apple just did something really cool with that little trick.
