Cisco Expansion Module 7916

I have an issue with the 7916 expansion module on a Cisco 7965 phone.  The sidecar loads properly (wilt all the configured extensions) and the page 1 & 2 buttons on the bottom luminate correctly.  However, the side LED buttons do not light when a line is in use.  I can press an extension and it calls correctly but only briefly flickers green then does not light.  I have switched sidecar, power supply and phone as well as looked at the configuration setting in CM.  Any config/solution someone has come across that they may be able to help with?  Thanks in advance for any information.

Hi Ronald.
Did you try to configure one of 7965 button as BLF speed dial?
Did it work?
Which version of CUCM are you running?
Which firmware 7965 is running?
Let me know
Regards
Carlo

    Hi Everybody,
Does NAM 2304 appliance has any expansion modules? I am out of interfaces and need new interfaces to be able to analyze different traffic.

    Hi,
did you check if the Expansion Module 7916 is defined in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
Also check if the Expansion Module 7916 is configured as a 24-line module instead of a 12-line module.
Refer the below link for more detail.

  • 7916 Expansion Module Power Adapter Alternative

    hi all,
i received a 7916 expansion module but it didn't come with the power adapter.
i heard (or maybe read) somewhere that you can use the power adapter of Cisco APs.
i tried to google but giving me cisco vendor site.
anyone can confirm the alternate model and its voltage?

You can compare the specs, but why not order the correct one:
    CP-PWR-CUBE-3=
    CP-PWR-CORD-xx=

  • Cisco 7975 Expansion modules

    Dear,
I have some questions regarding the expansion modules on phones, specifically the 7916 ones.
If i have one with 12 physical buttons and 2 page buttons i can assume it's a 24 line button i have to set on the configuration page of the phone correct? Or am i seeing this wrong. Is there a handy way of knowing this directly?
I have a specific phone Cisco 7975 that has issues getting the 7916 addon module working, i have set a 7916 24 button on the config page of the phone. The addon module still shows the logo of Cisco and doesn't change.
The load is present on the call manager, i have seen it via "Device Defaults", shall i proceed in upgrading the 7916 firmware then on the Call Manager, maybe this can solve the problem?
    CM version: 8.6.2

Most of the times firmware phone/expansion
    Just upgrade phone and expansion.
And you select 7975 with 7916 24 buttons or 12 buttons

  • 7914 Expansion module - all lights are solid red

    Hi,
I am trying to get an expasion module 7914 to work with my 7960.
These are some extracts from my config:
    CONFIG (Version=4.0(1))
    =====================
    Version 4.0(1)
    Cisco CallManager Express
    load 7914 S00104000100
    load 7960-7940 P0030702T023
At the moment when I go into the ephone with the expansion module, I can NOT enter the "add-on 1 7914" command. It is simply not available and not listed when I do a "show a?" command under the ephone
It seems to me that I am using the correct firmware but I can't get the expansion module to do anything. It simply sits there with a blank screen and all the buttons lighted in solid red.
The 7960 attached to it is working properly.
Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thank you

I am responding because we also had difficulty getting our two 7914 expansion modules to work with our 7960.
I'm not sure I understand your problem with configuring the ephone. Are you using a telnet into the CME gateway and the CLI (Command Line Interface). I would do it that way, not through any kind of browser or GUI.
You will need to log in in enable mode and then
    CME# config t
    CME# ephone
    CME# type 7960 addon 1 7914
Hope this helps some... Try TAC if all else fails.

  • Server Ports on Expansion Modules?

So I've seen in Cisco documentation and on some other places that the Expansion modules on the interconnects can NOT be used as server ports for the chasis?
So on a 6296 FI you can only use the fixed ports for downlink/server ports? So that means you could only get like 12 chasis fully connected with 8 per interconnect?
What do people generally use all of that expansion module space for?  I just noticed in the emulator you could configure an expansion port as a server port, is that a bug?

Expansion modules allow Cisco UCS 6200 Series Fabric Interconnect to be configured as cost-effective 10-Gigabit Ethernet fabric interconnects and as I/O consolidation platforms with native Fibre Channel connectivity. The Cisco UCS 6248 UP has one slot for an optional expansion module. The Cisco UCS 6296 has three slots for an optional uplink expansion module. The expansion modules are hot swappable. Only the 16-port UCS E16UP expansion module using the small form factor pluggable plus (SFP+) interface is supported. I hope it will help.

  • 7961G with Expansion Module 7914

    hi,
    a simple question.
i will buy a 7961G phone with an expansion module 7914. The 7961G will be powered with PoE. i cannot find out if its possible to connect the module without an external power cube if i power the phone with PoE.
    thx

    Hey Paolo,
    Here is the breakdown I have always used;
Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Modules 7914
    Cisco 7960 Power Source
    Items to Order
1 7914 with 7960 with In-line PoE (you need to order the following)
One, Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7914
    One, single footstand
    One, power cube
    One, country cord
1 7914 with 7960 with Local power (cube)* (you need to order the following)
One, Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7914
    One, single footstand
2 7914's with 7960 with In-line or local power** (you need to order the following)
Two, Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7914 ExpansionModule
    One, double footstand
    One, power cube
    One, country cord
    * A single Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7914 can receive power from a locally-powered (power cube) Cisco Unified IP Phone.
** Local power must be connected to the first Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7914. This supplies power to both Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Modules 7914s.

  • Finding Line Expansion Module in use

Does anyone know how to find working Line Expansion Module's (7914, 7916)? I can find how many are configured but haven't been able to find modules that are actually in use (configured but not connected to a phone). Running UCM v9.1.2.

    Hi
You'd have to look directly at the phone, well... at least at the phone status page.
Browse directly to the phone in this format:
    http://x.x.x.x/DeviceInformationX
It will show you the firmware e.g <addonModule1>B016-1-0-4-2</addonModule1>
    Or module type <addonModule1udi>KEM</addonModule1udi>
If you need to do that on all phones you need an app or script, I have an inventory tool that could easily be extended to grab those elements from all your phones in bulk, though that's not something it does at the moment. It's here : http://www.ipcommute.co.uk/5-/11-phone-operations-manager.html

  • Expansion Modul 7914 with CCME 4.0?

    hi,

    thx

    Hi Konrad,
    The use of the 7914 with CME has been supported since around CME 3.1 :) Here is the info for CME 4.0;

  • 7940 w/ 2x 7914 Expansion Modules

I have a client who recently I made changes to their phone (7940 w/ 2x 7914 Expansion Modules).  Once I saved the changes and rebooted the phone the expansion modules stopped working and were all lit red.  When checking on the phone it says link type not supported.   I am not sure how in the past they were able to get this module to work with the phone, Cisco says that the configuration is not supported.  Any ideas how I could get this to work? I think that when the phone rebooted it pulled in new firmware or something and reverted settings back to stock.  My guess is someone somehow either flashed a different firmware on the module or phone to make them seem compatible.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Mike,
I'm not really sure how this ever worked. Please see the following document: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/phones/ps379/ps1856/product_data_sheet09186a008008883d.html
The 7940s are not supported with the 7914 sidecars. Supported phones are: 7960G, 7961G, 7970G and 7971G-GE
I'd be doubtful a firmware upgrade caused this issue, unless you did a phone firmware upgrade on the UC. When the phone tries to register with the UC it will have the phone firmware on the UC pushed to it.
In CLI you can add a 7940 with an addon sidecar of 7914, but I didn't have a 7914 to test with. Regardless, I would advise you to purchased a 7960 which would be supported.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    -john

  • 8961 Expansion Module and Call Transfers

    Hi,
Is there a way to transfer calls using the stored numbers in the expansion module on a 8961?
I touch the TRANSFER hard key and then a stored number on my expansion module but the softkey for TRANSFER doesn't pop up.
I am very new to our cisco system so please bear with me if this doesn't make much sense.
    Thank you.

    Hi Bret,
Yes, it there a way. Follow this instructions:
1.With a phone call established, press the Transfer hard key.
    2. The New Call tab will appear
    3. Press a stored number on the expansion module.
I already tested this a minute ago on CUCM 8.5 so it should work. If not, maybe you're hitting some firmware bug.

  • Expansion Module screen too dark?

    Hi,
Has anyone used expansion module? I have tried this product recently, everything works fine except the screen. I think the screen is too dark to see the speed dial on it. I have tried both 7914 and 7915, but got same result. How can tune it more easy to see? Thank you!

You can use the Contrast setting in the phone's settings button. The 7914 and 7915 are monochrome without backlighting so be sure you are not expecting something it does not provide.

  • Monitoring the Cisco ACE module with SNMP

We use 2 redundant Cisco ACE loadbalancer in our datacenter
The models are ACE20-MOD-K9 with software A2(2.0)
Does anybod know how to monitor the environment (cpu, memory) of such a module with snmp?
We were not able to find an applicable MIB for that module.
The CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.oid (ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.oid) seems not to reflect the correct oid's.
