Cisco Expressway with BE6K

Hi,
If we propose Cisco Expressway on Cisco BE6k, how many applications we can have with medium density? AS i check dockwiki, 4 apps + 1 mandatory
prime collaboration.
So my understanding is on a medium density BE6K bundle, we can have 4 apps (CUCM + CUC + Expressway C + Expressway E) and 1 mandatory prime collab provisioning. Is my understanding about sizing is correct? Is there anything else for Mgmt or ELM is also required??
Ajay

Hi Ajay,
It is not mandatory to install install Prime Collaboration - but this is the only option for the "+1".  If you don't deploy PCP, then all of the server resources may be dedicated to your collaboration applications.
In this case, you will have 2 CPUs each for UCM, Expressway C and Expressway E, 1 for CUC and 1 reserved for ESXi - so this is valid for a Medium Density server (8 CPU).  The memory footprint will fit too.
ELM is co-resident with UCM, so no need for a separate install there.
You'll just need to decide how to manage your network connectivity / separation for Expressway C / E. This document might be of interest for this.
Hope this helps,
Andy

  • Cisco Expressway Softwares

    Hi
I'm new to Cisco Expressway solution, in the Cisco site there is only one downloadable file with version X8.2.
Do we need two VMs for expressway ? (for Expressway C and E) or we can use one VM ?
    Please guide

If you have a look on CCO, and look under "All Release", you should be able to find the Virtual OVA file for X8.2.1 which you can fire up as a demo (no licence required).
Once you have the Virtual Machine built with the above OVA file, you can upgrade it with the .tar.gz to a more recent version if you wish - with X8.2.2 being the latest (and including the fixes for the "ShellShock" Bash vulnerability.

  • Cisco Expressway

    Hi all,
When we need to use cisco expressway ? My customer will use cisco sx10, sx80, and immersive. Connection between all telepresence endpoint is via WAN (MPLS). Do i need to deploy cisco expressway-c or expressway-e ?

The Expressway series doesn't have traversal licenses, instead it's refereed to as Rich Media Session licenses.  If you have have an H323 and SIP endpoint, the interworked call will consume a single RMS license on each Expressway Core and Edge server, so a total of two licenses will be needed for the call.  Below is taken from the Expressway data sheet and outlines what a RMS licenses is used for:
Each concurrent call session terminating on a system not using Cisco Unified Communications Manager or Cisco HCS (for example, B2B calls, Cisco Jabber Guest and Cisco Collaboration Meeting Rooms) requires a Cisco Expressway Rich Media Session license. Also, each concurrent call requiring interworking also requires a Cisco Expressway Rich Media Session license. Examples of such calls include H.323-to-SIP interworked calls and H.264 SVC-to-H.264 AVC calls.
However, as the Expressway series is meant to be used with CUCM, and it's a SIP only solution, where is this H323 endpoint residing or calling from?

  • Cisco ExpressWay-E/C on UCS

    Dear Experts,
I am new to Cisco UC world and trying to understand and implement  the Cisco ExpressWay-E/C technology. Can anyone help me to understand the following .
1.Is there is any specific reason to place ExpressWay-E in MDZ ?
    2.Do i need additional Firewall for Cisco Expressway-C ?
3.Does Cisco ExpressWay-E/C  support  different internal domains?.
4.Does Cisco Expressway-E/C surrport if I have internal domain server hosted on public network ?
    Thanks
    Tamimi

    1. Expressway-E is the vehicle that is used to communicate with clients who are on the internet. For this specific reason, you have to place the Expressway-E in the DMZ or the outside network, both configurations are supported by Cisco.
    2. Additional firewall is not needed. The example that the guides show is an example for customers who have additional firewall and if they dont allow traffic to be routed directly from the internal network to the external.
    3. You can configure different domains on the Expressway C/E and in most cases will work but this configuration is not supported by Cisco.
    4. Not sure I understand this question but if you are asking about having to host your own Public DNS servers, then that shouldnt be a problem and doesnt have a correlation with Expressway C/E.

  • Licensing of Cisco Expressway

Hi, fellow engineers. I have a couple question about Telepresence design. If I need to add Jabber Guest. What kind of licence will be required apart from Cisco Expressway Rich Media Session? How about endpoints? For instance, what kind of licence do I need to purchase so that I make a call from remote office by EX 90? I mean I want to make a call the Headquarter from Teleworker.

    Hi Mikhail,
    Deployment guide provides these details.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Guest/10_0/icg/JABC_BK_J0FC634A_00_jabberc-installation-and-configuration-guide/JABC_BK_J0FC634A_00_jabberc-installation-and-configuration-guide_chapter_010.html
Please note that in a production environment, Cisco Jabber Guest requires that your Cisco Unified Communications Manager be configured to work with Cisco Expressway.
Cisco Jabber Guest can be pointed directly to Cisco Unified Communications Manager for lab deployments only. You must configure a SIP trunk on Cisco Unified Communications Manager for this deployment. This option is best suited to a lab deployment in which the goal is to familiarize yourself with Cisco Jabber Guest without the additional overhead of configuring Expressway. However, without configuring Expressway, Cisco Jabber Guest is not supported in a production environment.

  • Cisco UCM with Third Party Contact Center Solution

Hi all, hope everyone is well.
Anyone out there running Cisco UCM with a third party contact center solution ? would love to hear your experience on this subject.
    Thanks in advance !!
    Danny

I have not heard of any sucessful stories, which vendor are you considering and what would you not go with UCCE/UCCX?
I used to work for Rockwell (Aspect today) which attempted to integrate their Business Contact Solution with CUCM (back on 3.3) and it worked OK for low volume calls, but never had any customer adoption.
I have not heard of any other known ACD vendors integrating with CUCM.

I dont't agree with "on the "Encryption" tab and clear all the checkboxes except "No encryption" - wants an encryption connection but this didn't work till in user's properites in AD permit "Reversible encryption". This is not what that I want.  Would I need to generate ssl-cert for the wcs as wroted this?http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/7.0MR1/configuration/guide/hard.html#wp1042471

  • Cisco IronPort with On Premise Exchange 2013

    Hello All
The company I work for is in the process of starting an on premise Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 migration.
Most of the issues I don't think I'll have an issue with; however, where I am not finding much info is in regards to other companies using Cisco IronPort with Exchange 2013.
SO, I have two questions within this topic...
One, is anyone using Cisco IronPort with Exchange 2013 (on premise) out here?
Two, my manager is very controlling.  I am the Exchange Admin; however, anything having to do with this IronPort thing with regards to Exchange HE has to do it. So, if anyone is familiar with this IronPort thing... How much work on the IronPort is going
to have to be done during this migration to keep things going?

It shouldn't be any different with Exchange 2013 than it is with Exchange 2007.

  • Cisco 1700 with MP-BGP and VRF support

I have a Cisco 1721 with MP-BGP Support, you can create VRFs with it and every other MPLSVPN feature, but the commands for MPLS switching are not supported like Router(config-if)mpls ip , I read in some forums that you can create MPLS VPN without enabling MPLS at all, just with MPBGP, but I couldn't do it myself, Can someone tell me how to make it work or what can I do with a Cisco 1721 that supports MP-BGP?
    thanks in advance

Here is an example. Take care about overhead for packets like VoIP. The overhead is 88 bytes.
The packet semms something like that.
    IpHeader-pub@ - NAT-Tudp4500 - ESP - IpHeader-priv@(vrf discriminator) - GRE - Original IP Header - Data - Esp Trailer.
In this case you neet tunnel-mode because you use
private @ in order to determine vrf (vrf discriminator).
This is a LAB config, all other security parameters you need on a router are not configured. If you add access-list on the external interface of REMOTE you have to understand every encapsulation step in order to well tune it.
    Good reading.
The PPT draw shows physically and logically views.
PS, take care about fragmentation issues, the problematic is still not well managed by the routers, I could not made Tunnel-path-mtu discovery work with vrf's. The workaround is to fragment packets. It's not good for performance but actually there is no other solution concerning that.
    Kind Regards

  • Cisco 2621 with 2821

I have a Cisco 2621 with 2FXS and 2FXO for my landlines, can I setup my 2821 to use my 2621 to make outside calls?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

That should work in my opinion. The 2821 is running CCME? But is that worth the effort? Can't you place the VWICs into the 2821 instead in the 2621?

    Thank you very much
    Wisit

    Hi,
From what I have read from the following document.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5855/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a00802ccf1d.html
    Network Modules
Network modules install directly into slots in the rear of the router. The Cisco 3845 router supports online insertion and removal (OIR, or hot swap) of network modules. The Cisco 3825 router does not support OIR.
Caution The Cisco 3845 router supports OIR with similar modules only. If you remove a network module, along with any installed WAN or voice interface cards, install another module and card combination exactly like it.
    Interface Cards
Cisco 3800 series routers do not support OIR (hot swap) of interface cards inserted directly into router slots. You must turn off the router before installing or removing an interface card.
The Cisco 3825 router and the Cisco 3845 router each provide four interface card slots, labeled on the rear panel by HWIC and a number. Each slot can be occupied by one single-wide WIC, VIC, VWIC, or HWIC.
    Hope this helps

    Hello ,
As line comes up after reloading the device this does not looks like configuration issue but hardware .
Either connection between ATM card and modem is getting idle or some issue with ATM card .
Did you try replacing ATM card with a spare one to see if issue persists .
    HTH

  • Configuration of CISCO 3502I with Windows 2003 Server SE

    Hi,
I am currently trying to configure a CISCO Aironet AIR-CAP3502I-E-K9 with Win Server 2003 Standard Edition.
First of all is it even possible to cinfigure the above device using DHCP so that it can be run as an access point or can it only be used with a CISCO Controller,
Does the server need to be a Win 2003 Ent?
In my situation the Windows Server is the controller we don't have a CISCO controller
I have created a Vendor class attribute on the DHCP pool of the windows server using option 43
The IP address of the DHCP server is 10.203.125.48 but the users are sitting on the 10.203.122.xxx subnet.  The AP is currebtly sitting on the same subnet as the DHCP server(125)
I have created an Option Class called 'CISCO Ap' with an option code of 241 on the DHCP scope
Under Scope options I have then created an option 241 option name and under 'Available Options' ticked the option 43 and added the name of the DHCP server IP address.
When I switch on the AP it is blinking green but I get the following error attached.
    Any Help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Immy

That error is "normal" because you are using a 3500 AP.  This particular model of AP requires a wireless LAN controller (WLC).
You "cannot" load autonomous IOS into the 3500 for wireless service.
