[Cisco FAQ] - What is DOCSIS 3.0 Upstream Channel Bonding?
describe what it does.
DOCSIS 3.0 required that CM must have 4 or more upstream channel transmitters. This translates into the
possibility of 100mbps+ upstream rate…
Removed DOCSIS 2.0/1.x single request-grant cycle bottleneck.
Bonded Flows allow multiple outstanding BW-REQ.
BW can be requested on any of the bonded upstream channels
Requests can be granted on any of the bonded upstream channels
Reduced upstream latency (TCP ACK) also increases DS throughput. [TCP application]
Bonds multiple, physical upstream transmit channels to form a larger, logical upstream channel.

HOw do i tear down VOD Sessions that are older than 4 hours
NOTE: When the VOD Session Manager is a USRM, Cisco refers to this USRM as a VSM.
Here is an explanation of how the VOD Session Manager (VSM) initiates a release of VOD sessions that are older than 4 hours (configurable). The algorithm described below is similar to the releaseOldSessions script on the DNCS that many of our customers are familiar with. Both release VOD sessions that are older than 4 hours old. Also, the VSM has a retry and session audit mechanism built into its algorithm that is absent in the releaseOldSessions script on the DNCS. The main difference is that this functionality is built into the VSM, but the releaseOldSessions script must either be run manually on the DNCS or put into the DNCS crontab. The VSM will make the decision to release a VOD session base on age, typically configured for 4 hours, and then the VSM will send up to 3 teardown requests to the Edge Resource Manager (ERM). NOTE: Both the VSM and ERM are Linux servers running Cisco USRM software.
The “releaseOldSessions” algorithm is configured on the VSM in the Web UI under Applications.VodSm.Configuration as shown in the screen shot below:
Applications.VodSm.Configuration.SessionTimeout = 14,400 seconds (default, configurable)
ReleaseRetryCount = 3 (default, not configurable)
ALGORITHM: The VSM, being the VOD Session Manager, will send a session release request to the appropriate Edge Resource Manager (ERM) based on the configured “SessionTimeout”. By default this value is 14,400 seconds (4 hours, configurable). When the age of a VOD session reaches the SessionTimeout, the VSM will locate the appropriate ERM and send it a session release request for that session. If the ERM fails to acknowledge this release request, the VSM will retry the session release for the number of times configured in ReleaseRetryCount, which is 3. NOTE: Cisco Development has chosen a value of 3 for this parameter (the ReleaseRetryCount is not configurable). If after the 3rd release retry, the VSM still does not have an acknowledgement of session teardown from the ERM, the VSM will initiate a session audit of that ERM as a final attempt to tear down the session. -

[Cisco FAQ] - What is a Wideband Downstream Channel?
explain its purpose.
Consists of one or more [RF] QAM channels.
Uniquely identified by MPEG PID field (2-bytes)
Information is conveyed to WCM by WDCD (Wideband Downstream Channel Descriptor)
WDCD is transmitted every 2 seconds
WDCD is transmitted on all bundled NB channels associated (in the WB-NB association table) with the WB channel
WCM must re-register if 3consecutive WDCD are missed -
Cisco 7609 router received higher traffic than upstream provider router is sending
Hi all,
I have a Cisco 7609 router that connects to our upstream provider router using 3rd party DWDM Fiber backhaul provider.
The upstream provider router is a Juniper router that had capped our port speed to 1.1Gbps, the backhaul provider didn't capped our port speed and the maximum speed is 2Gbps since it's a 2x1Gbps port channel interface.
I have noticed that our 7609 router able to receive traffic that exceeds 1.1Gbps, and the highest traffic able to received is 1.3Gbps and more.
I have crossed checked the MRTG graph provided by our upstream provider as well as our PRTG graph and indeed we are receiving higher bandwidth than our upstream provider is sending.
I'd like to know if anyone know how it is possible to receive traffic that is higher than what the neighbor router is sending?
RegardsHi at all,
We found a solution for this Problem !!
We always and always got this error:
%PQUICC-1-LOSTCARR: Unit 0, lost carrier. Transceiver problem?
The problem was the cable! The following pin-out is required:
1 ----- 1
2 ----- 2
3 ----- 6
4 ----- 5
5 ----- 4
6 ----- 3
7 ----- 7
8 ----- 8
We used this and the fault has disappeared!!
The only problem that still exists:
After the first connection the router must be rebooted because otherwise no more additional session is established.
Thanks for all answers.
Regards,
Mario -

FAQ: What do I do if I have sign in or activation errors?
After installing the Photoshop CS6 beta, on first launch you are prompted to sign in with your Adobe ID. The Sign In button becomes unresponsive and you receive the error, "Please connect to the Internet and retry." It may be followed by "Either your computer is offline or the clock on your computer is set incorrectly, causing a connection error. An Internet connection is required. Please connect to the internet or adjust your clock and try again."
You can receive these errors if your computer has problems connecting to the internet, your firewall is blocking access, or if the host file on your computer has been modified.
Please go to the following link if you are having sign in or activation errors:
FAQ: What do I do if I have sign in or activation errors?1. Launch System Information into its 'report' mode. (A quick way to do this is by holding down the option key while clicking on the Apple menu item, which causes "About this Mac" to change to that.)
2. From the list on the left, under "Software" click on "Applications." (If you don't see the Applications item, click on "Show more information" from the "File" menu.)
3. Wait a minute or so for the report to finish.
4. The last column in the report is "64-bit (Intel)." (You may need to scroll the window to the right to see it.) Click on that heading to sort the list alphabetically. Anything with a "no" is 32 bit. -

DOCSIS 1.1 Upstream Speed config problem
Helllo,
I am trying to configure a UBR7246 with IOS 12.3(23)BC4 to run 16QAM upstream channels with the intention of providing up to 3.Mbps of upstream bandwidth to my users. Everything is working fine with 16QAM, minislot size of 4, and the "show cable modem QOS" command shows the upstream bandwidth and burst settings I have used in my modem config files. I am using max burst of 4000 and max concatenated burst of 4000.
The problem is that I still cannot get over 2.10Mbps on an upstream with only 1 test modem on it and under 20% utilization on my 45Mbps connection to the Internet. This is not an over-subscription issue or anything and I am wondering if I have something configured wrong.
Can anyone help me with how to get higher upstream bandwidth? I know the theoretical max for this profile is 7.6Mbps, and I only want to do 3.0Mbps. I know this is utilization depend, etc., but I only have one modem on the upstream.
I am only using cable upstream 3 for this and have edited out other parts of the config.

Thanks,
BillThanks for the excellent responses! I did resolve the problem and ended up using a combination of CMTS configuration and modem changes. I did the following:
1. Increased the upstream "max burst" and "max concatenated burst". I tested with settings between 4000 and 16000. The higher setting provided the largest bandwidth increase, (in the modem config), when coupled with a higher mini-slot setting.
2. I used the "cable default phy burst" setting on the CMTS. made sure fragmentation was set at 2000, and turned off rate limiting on the upstream interface.
This is a small MSO with less than 5000 subscribers, and they are not prepared to move to DOCSIS 2 or 3. I was able to use "mixed mode" for the modulation profile and provided them with upstream speeds of up-to 3.0Mbps. (You can go to over 7Mbps if you want, but there are trade-offs in doing this.)
The new upstream speed tier is for a limited amout of customers and the MSO is quite happy now.
Let me know if anyone needs more info on this and I would be glad to provide it. I imagine most folks have moved on to DOCSIS 2 and 3, but a lot of small MSO's cannot afford to do this.
Cheers,
Bill -
In repository what is the use of communication channel templates
Hi People
what is the use of communication channel templates in integration repository? and when we are using that please tell me the ASAP
Thanks & Regards
shekarHI,
The communication channel template is for the documentation purpose that will give the information about the sender and receiver communication channels in IR. So No need to goto ID and check the related CCs each time for every scenario.
You can preconfigure a communication channel with a communication channel template. You can use the communication channel template as a template to define a communication channel at configuration time.
If you want to create multiple communication channels with some identical configuration data, you should use a communication channel template.
Thanks

What is going on with CBS Channel 2 and 502
What is going on with CBS Channel 2 and 502? The audio went out mid-day. When it came back the picture is now a postage stamp? I called and was told Verizon is having trouble with CBS. It is now 9 hours latter and the picture is still a postge stamp? (5.1 AC3 digital )
Any fix soon?
ThanksYou didn't identify where you are. Channel 502 (WCBS in NY) was fine when I checked in VHO 5.
Also did you try a STB In-home-agent fix, set top box auto correct? -
What is meaning Changing ALE Inbound Channel Registry...
what is meaning Changing ALE Inbound Channel Registry
can any body give sample scenario.
thx.
sudhakarHi,
When inbound IDocs are processed, a unique serial number is generated for each object channel (field CHNUM) and communication link. The ALE layer determines whether a given IDoc can now be posted or whether other IDocs have to be posted first. The serial number for each received IDoc is exactly one whole number lower. Any gaps in the sequence will mean that IDocs are missing, either because the transfer did not work, or because earlier IDocs were not posted successfully.
In this case the IDoc is assigned status 66 and must be posted again with the program RBDAPP01.
Objects are assigned to messages and channels by the application.
Transfer errors (IDoc sequence mixed up) and inbound posting errors (IDoc cannot be posted due to Customizing errors) no longer affect the sequential order, because serialization corrects these errors.
The inbound channel registry is maintained in transaction BD103. The serial counter number should be one less than the IDoc in the queue expected to be processed. PURCHASE ORDER message types come under this category of serialization of IDocs.

What is the need of communication channel?
what is the need of communication channel in xi?
Hi,
In communication Channel, we have the identification of a system in which we are going to login.
for sending the data or for receiving the data.
the details of authantication is also in the same.
This is required for making right connections with the system (3rd party or SAP) for data communication purpose.
