  • Cisco IP SLA - RTTMON MIB - Problem setting values

    Hi,
I am trying to use Cisco IP SLA to monitor QOS for voice data. I want to create a SLA operation from my NMS. I am using the RTTMON-MIB for this purpose. I was testing it out by creating an ICMP Echo operation, and I set the below values
    rttMonCtrlAdminRttType.1 -Integer 9
    rttMonEchoAdminProtocol.1 -Integer 27
    rttMonEchoAdminTargetAddress.1 -OctetString "172.22.202.12"
    rttMonEchoAdminTargetPort.1 -Integer 8000
    rttMonEchoAdminInterval.1 -Integer 20
    rttMonEchoAdminNumPackets.1 -Integer 100
    rttMonCtrlAdminStatus.1 -Integer 4
    rttMonScheduleAdminRttStartTime.1 -TimeTicks 1
    rttMonScheduleAdminRttLife.1 -Integer 2147483647
I have set these values for an INDEX 1, using snmpset_requests. Can anyone tell me as to how do I go about with the indexing. I just chose 1 for the above eg and set the values. But I see the  rttMonCtrlAdminIndex oid has not been updated with the new entry. Neither am I able to set the value of index as 1 for this oid using snmpset.
Can anyone please tell me how the indexing is done? Should I set the value of the index?
The other question is the format for the target ipadress? This OID accepts IP address as an Octet String. So '172.22.202.24' is ok? or should I convert it into some other format.
    Regards
    Roycey

The admin index is a random number which you must generate.  It can be between 1 and 2147483647.   Use your management station's pseudo-random number generator to pick an initial value.  Then test it by polling rttMonCtrlAdminStatus for that index.  If a row exists, pick a new index.
Yes, the IP address is of type OCTET STRING.  You are setting it correctly.

  • Linksys Switches/Routers that support CISCO IP SLA Responder feature

Hi there, I'm looking for a Linksys Switch or Router that does support Cisco IP SLA Responder, this allows for measuring one way delay, etc.
I'd appreciate if somebody can help me identifying a Linksys device supporting this.
    Thanks!
    From Cisco website:
"...Cisco IOS IP SLA Responder is a Cisco IOS Software component whose functionality is to respond to Cisco IOS IP SLA request packets....Some of the newer Linksys devices also support this feature...."

Cisco sold Linksys to Belkin quite a while ago. Linksys business products are typically for the SMB market.
For the SLA feature you are asking about I have used the Cisco 1921.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • AT&T DSL & Cisco ASA 5505 Problems

Okay I have been working with a 5505 for two days and finally got it configured and working on an AT&T DSL Modem then when I took the 5505 to the clients office and connected/configured it to their AT&T DSL with their IPs the whole thing quite working. I noticed walk through the Tech discussions that there are lots of problems with AT&T DSL deployments and I also discovered that one working configuration was attached to a DSL in AT&Ts standard deployment as a DHCP router using dynamic IPs while the second is in bridge mode using static IPs.
So here's the question why won't the DSL Modem in bridge mode not work as a typical Internet connection like a Cable Modem? I have a Cisco Wireless VPN 4400 to it in bridge mode using static IPs and it works great and on the 4400 there are no special PPPoe settings that have to be set just standard IPs, DNSs, Gateways, Masks...
I see in the Cisco Tech Notes that it is recommended/mandatory to configure Vpdn groups and the Vlan2 to take into account the PPPoe configuration of the AT&T DSL Modem but if the DSL modem is already set in bridge mode and is handling the PPPoe authentication why does the 5505 have do it again this see,s redundant. Will try to use the example configuration additions above and post here with the results.
BTW the configuration with the DSL set as DHCP Router works without any special PPPoe configs.
Very puzzling this DSL configuration conundrum... Last point for businesses if you can use Cable or nonDSL ISP you should do so this AT&T stuff is for the birds... Angry Birds...
Thanks for the assistance in advance!!!

Hi Ferdinand. I don't know what a Smartnet contract is. How do I know if we have one? This ASA basically hasn't been touched for 5 years. Almost the entire staff has rotated through this company since then and nobody knowns anything. I found the invoice for it this morning after accounts searched for it, but it appears to have been purchased from a non services retailer. I contacted them and while they confirm they sold it to us they know nothing about it. They don't offer service.
    What are my options?

If I understand your issue correctly, you are using User Registration and are unable to register your Cisco UC-520.
Please verify that the following settings are correct in your PBX:
    Proxy Server (primary): sip.skype.com
    Registrar Server: sip.skype.com
Digest Authentication:  SIP User (99051000XXX)& password from Skype Connect sip profile.
Note, if you cut and  paste the password, sometimes a space gets added to the field. If this happens registration will fail.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Karsten,
Thank you for the reply !!! & best wishes for the new year 2014.
The problem is like this, if i select datacard connection type to NDIS it works but it doesnt work when i select RAS(modem) connection type for 3G datacard it doesnt. (NDIS and RAS(Modem) connection types are the 2 modes currently supporetd by the datacard.). Is there any case the users are experiencing from the similar problem? and what they have done to solve the issues? And thank you for the workaroung, i have checked the shrew-soft with win7 and it was working fine but not on win8, i will check shrew-soft on win8 very soon. Also we can move to the anyconnect solution but just want to know if this can solve our problem or not? whether there will be any issues with anyconnect solution for win 8 or not? can you please confim.
    Thank you

  • Cisco ASA5505 sla monitoring

    Hello,
I'm not sure how does the SLA monitoring works...
    Example:
    sla monitor 123
type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho 10.0.0.1 interface outside
    num-packets 3
frequency 10!--- Configure a new monitoring process with the ID 123.  Specify the
!--- monitoring protocol and the target network object whose availability the tracking
!--- process monitors.  Specify the number of packets to be sent with each poll.
!--- Specify the rate at which the monitor process repeats (in seconds).
When does the routing table change the default route?
If the 3 send packets will get 3x timeout response or it's enought that just one of those 3 packets dont respond?
I would like to set up that the routing table (default route) will rebuild after 30 second of timeout the primary default gateway.
    Many thanks
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a00806e880b.shtml

    Hi Martin,
You are missing the track configuration. Track 1 rtr 123 reachability
    And then:
sla monitor schedule 123 life forever start-time now
The track is attached to the SLA, so when you pick one default route to monitor (The one with the lower administrative distance) you add the track command, for example:
    route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 200.20.20.1 1 track 1
    route outside2 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 200.30.30.1 254
The firewall will be monitoring the first route and when it fails, it will remove it from the routing table.
If the 3 send packets will get 3x timeout response or it's enought that just one of those 3 packets dont respond?
There is a threshold that can be configured to say how many packets you will expect.

  • Cisco ASA SLA monitoring

I'm trying to configure an SLA on some of our ASAs and I want to monitor the hostname of a destination rather than the IP address.  The CLI gives me an option to enter IP or hostname, but when I try and use a name rather than an IP address I get:
(config-sla-monitor)# type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho ?
    sla-monitor mode commands/options:
Hostname or A.B.C.D  IP address or hostname
(config-sla-monitor)# type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho google.com
                                                                   ^
    ERROR: % Invalid Hostname
    (config)# ping google.com
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 173.194.37.128, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 40/46/50 ms
Any ideas or suggestions?  I've tried local hostnames just to make sure it wasn't a resolution issue.  Substituting with the IP address works fine.  We just have a particluar vendor we depend on that has a propensity to change IP addresses to a cloud app we depend on and not tell us.
If this posts answers your question or is helpful, please consider rating it and/or marking as answered.

    Hi,
Always used the IP address so I have no previous expirience of configuring with hostname.
The Command Reference is very vague with regards to the definition of the hostname.
Initially I thought that he problem might be that the DNS lookups are not enabled on the ASA so it is not able to determine the IP address itself.
This didnt seem to make a difference.
    Then I configured the following
    name 1.1.1.1 test
After which it accepted the command with the hostname configured as "test".
So I am guessing the hostname refers to the "name" configurations of the  ASA and if that is the case then I would consider it a pretty useless option.
I tried to configure an "object network GOOGLE" that uses "fqdn www.google.com" but it doesnt accept this "object" as the value for the hostname. So I am not really sure if I am missing something with regards to what else could be entered there other than something referenced in the "name" configuration.
On a quick search I could not find anything online in which someone is actually using a hostname instead of the IP address.
Also slightly adding to the confusion is the fact that the Configuration Guide makes no mention of hostname when giving instructions on configuring the target which to monitor for route tracking.
Starting to seem to me that there is no option to use a DNS name as the target for monitoring.

  • Cisco SPA112 provisioning problem: FXS_Port_Power_Limit

    Hi,
We have problems provisioning specific parameter in a SPA112: FXS_Port_Power_Limit. Here is a part of our XML:
    <Force_G729a_Code ua="na">*02729</Force_G729a_Code>
    <FXS_Port_Power_Limit ua="na">4</FXS_Port_Power_Limit>
    <FXS_Port_Input_Gain ua="na">+2</FXS_Port_Input_Gain>
    <FXS_Port_Output_Gain ua="na">+2</FXS_Port_Output_Gain>
The parameter "FXS_Port_Power_Limit" is not provisioning the XML parameter (in the example: 4). It keeps the default value (3). Other parameters in the same section like FXS_Port_Input_Gain and FXS_Port_Output_Gain gets the XML value correctly.
    Thanks for your advice,
    Alejandro.

I looked at the spc file for this model and don't see that parameter.

  • Cisco IP phone problem with external directory http error

    Hi,
I have a problem when I try to open the directory on different model Cisco IP Phone for new deployment.
In CUCM (version 8.5) we have configured internal and external directory and on each device set the "service provisioning" to "both". For all the sites configured in CUCM this feature is working properly, but not in the new deployed site. I´ve already verified the url is written properly.
I get the following error messages for these different models:
    - Cisco IP phone 8945: "HTTP connection failed"
    - Cisco IP Comm: "HTTP error [500] "
    Thank you for your help,
    Regards,
    David Lozano

    Hi David,
What firmware are you using? Do you have 8945s on the other sites? I found a bug, but I'm not sure it applies to your description:
    CSCty58000 Bug Details
8945 freezes when directories is pressed
    Symptom:
8945 freezes when directories button is pressed.
    Conditions:
This issue happens when the phone load is 9.2.3 and the directories URL doesn't contain port number.
    Workaround:
Please use http://X.X.X.X:8080/ccmip/xmldirectory.jsp for the directories
    URL instead of http://X.X.X.X/ccmip/xmldirectory.jsp
You can try upgrading to firmware 9.3(1)
    Regards,

I am not sure if any one can help with this.
I am trying to get IPSLA monitor working with a Cisco 2911 and to view it through manage engine netflow anaylzer.
does any one know if  I need a specific Cisco license to get this feature working
I have ip sla responder as a config option and the instructions, state this is all that is required?

Previously no additional license's were required to enable features.
But with the new 15.x versions and later, you need to have your devices license for higher than ipbase.
Any feature set greater than "ipbase" will enable IP SLA. You can check the license details under show version. Example (snippet)
Technology Package License Information for Module:'c2900'
    Technology Technology-package Technology-package
    Current Type Next reboot
    ipbase ipbasek9 Permanent ipbasek9
    security None None None
    uc None None None
    data None None None
Apart from this, you need to enable the datak9 feature.
The 15.x code has licensing features  not seen in 12.4, and the "datak9" package has to be accepted.
To check, run a "show license" command, and I see the following:
    Index 4 Feature: datak9
    Period left: Not Activated
Period Used: 0 minute 0 second
    License Type: EvalRightToUse
License State: Not in Use, EULA not accepted
    License Count: Non-Counted
    License Priority: None
To activate it, please try the following command:
    device(config)#license accept end user agreement
    accepted the EULA and then:
    device#license boot module c2900 technology-package datak9
After this please save the config and reboot the device and see you can configure the IP
SLA commands. For more details on how to configure device for IP SLA on 15M IOS, as it has
IP SLA Engine III as compared to IP SLA Engine II on older 12.x series, check the
    following details :
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/ipsla/configuration/15-mt/sla-15-mt-book.html

  • Cisco FXO Disconnect Problem

we have 2801 router that connected with 2 anloga lines (FXO Card), but now we have a problem with disconnect problem, the phone still connected after the PSTN Caller Disconnect, and our policy tell that the agents shouldn't end the call, so we want when the PSTN caller end the call we need the phone to return to idle state.
and according for the below link, i configure the custom disconnect tone, and in the attachment you can find tow disconnect tones.
    http://ciscoflair.blogspot.com/2009/05/cisco-fxo-disconnect-issue.html
the configuration of the custom disconnect tone

and the below you can find the configuration of the voice port, and you can find the debug vpm port 0/3/0, debug vpm signal, for a call that disconnected immediately, and for a call the take long time to disconnected.
this is the configuration of the voice port:

  • Cisco ASA sla and track commands

Cisco ASA 5520's running 8.2.5 and using sla and track commands
Am I right in thinking that sla and track can be used for any pair of routes using diverse routes between 2 locations, these commands are NOT just restricted to being sued for a default route?
Example: I have 2 MPLS carriers between the 2 sites, the networks advertised by the MPLS carriers would be idnetical
    e.g.Site A has
    route outside 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0 2.2.2.2 1 track 1
    route outside 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0 3.3.3.3 128
There would of course be the track 1 rtr...command and some corresponding sla commands

    Matthew
Am I right in thinking that sla and track can be used for any pair of routes
As far as I know, yes, they don't need to be default routes, it's just that they usually are.
I would have thought if both routes are pointing via the outside interface though the next hop IPs would be in the same subnet ?

  • Cisco Unity 8 problem: Partner Mail Server Offline

We are changing Unity 8 partner from exchange 2007 to exchange 2010. We installed the ES10, uninstalled exchange software, ran the server update wizard, installed the latest version of ExchangeMapiCdo.exe, ran permissions wizard, created mailbox for UnityMsgStoreSvc, created the throttling policy and then ran the message store wizard.
The exchange 2010 server version is SP1 with rollup 6.
The problem is that the unity is returning Information Store on the Partner mail server is offline. Two events are reported in the event viewer of the unity server:
•1)      Event ID 110: The Unity Message Repository cannot communicate with the Partner Mail Server to deliver messages.  Messages will be held in the temporary store until the mail server is available.
•2)      Event ID 1017: The Information Store for the Unity System Mailbox on the Partner Exchange Server is offline during ExchangeMonitor Startup. All message notification processing is disabled until this has been resolved. When the Exchange Monitor detects that this server is back online, registration for notifications will proceed.
Now I set to 1 the registry key HKLM > Software > Active Voice > AvWm > 1.00 > Disable Server Status Check (DWORD) to disable the server ping check and to make AvWm assume that all Exchange servers are up all the time. Other events appeared in the event viewer including event ID 137 described as follows: Attempts to deliver Unity Message Repository messages have failed due to Unity configuration or connectivity issues with the Partner Mail Server. AvUMRSyncSvr will suspend message delivery for 300 seconds, after which message delivery will be attempted again. During this outage, messages may accumulate in the temporary store. 0x00002580
When I reset the same registry key to 0 I get warning events ID 1004 telling that each exchange server in my organization is offline. I also used the RPCtest.exe utility and it’s returning that the partner server and every other exchange server are online.
Does anyone have any idea how we can solve this problem ?

    Couple of questions:
    1.  Did you follow the integration guide for this integration?  The required tasks are outlined here:  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/7x/using_exch2010/usingex2010withcu7x5x.html#wp46611
If you have not already done so, you'll need to make sure you cover all of the bases in the integration guide.
    2.  If you are migrating from 2007 to 2010 then you should have already had a mailbox for the message store service.  Did you move the existing mailbox over to 2010 as noted in the integration guide?  I ask because you state that you "created" a mailbox in your original post so it is not clear.
