Cisco IPSec Client Setup for Wireless

I would like to set up Cisco IPSec VPN Client on a wireless Laptop to authenticate to a Cisco Radius Server 3.2. (WLC 4100)with pre-share keys.
I have setup the basic parameters on the WLC,SSID, VLAN, L3 Security IPSec and default IPSec parameters. The WLC does not seem to send/forward any kind of request to ACS at all and when i connect on the Wireless Client it behaves as a pass through VPN.
Thank you,

  • Cisco IPSec Client - shared key size

    Hello,
I have got a question concerning the Cisco IPSec Client.
Could you tell me, how large the key may be (max. 64 or 127 characters) ?
    Thanks and regards
    Patrick

Just to help somebody else facing an issue similar to this one.
Open Advanced menu from the configurated VPN in the Network Preferences and check 'Send all traffic over VPN connection'.
The problem is when you have a VPN that routes all the traffic, if you want specific routes they should be configured and passed on from the router.
I've configured a tested several vpn connections to Cisco ASA without an issue when the routes are configured on it (vpn_net1, vpn_net2 and so on) but when the route isn't specified in the router it should be considered as a default route and this option needed to be checked.

  • Using Cisco VPN client certificate for built in IPSec?

    Hi,
Does anybody know if it is possible to "convert" a certificate exported from Cisco VPN client and import it into the Keychain for using it with built-in IPSec in Snow Leopard?
    Thanks,
    Oli

I too am having trouble importing the Cisco certificate. It would be nice for some clear documentation. We've been successful converting the x.509 cer to KPCS#7 using openssl which will import into the keychain. However, the VPN (Cisco IPSec) sill doesn't see it.

  • DMZ Anchor WLC setup for Wireless Guest Access

    I have the following setup.
A DMZ WLC 4402 connected to firewall DMZ interface in 10.10.73.0/24 network.
An Inside WLC 2106 connected to firewall Inside interface in 10.10.71.0/24 network.
Both WLCs are running the same 4.2.176 code.
DMZ WLC is anchor to itself and Inside WLC select the DMZ WLC as the anchor point.
I have setup EoIP between DMZ and Inside WLCs successfully with both the control and data path both show as UP status. >> "show mobility anchor"
The main issue: Clients cannot obtain IP addresses after connected to Guest SSID.
    1. Inside WLC, the guest WLAN ingress is 802.11b/g radio and egress port is set to management interface (EoIP) of type WLAN.
What is the DMZ WLC setting? Is the ingress set to "802.11b/g" which does not make sense because the ingress is EoIP from Inside WLC?
Or I still set as 802.11b/g? Same config as Inside WLC? I read from other threads suggested by Terry that the config must be the same for both WLCs.
In the Inside WLC, I saw alot of pdu encapsulation errors for broadcast packets which is ffff.ffff.ffff xxxx which I think is the DHCP request from the connected Wireless clients not making through the EoIP tunnel. I have set static ip for the Wireless client but the packets cannot route through the EoIP tunnel to the far end.
    2. DHCP server is provided by DMZ WLC with the scope 10.10.76.0/24. In the Inside WLC, which DHCP server IP adddress to set to? DMZ WLC mgmt ip address? DMZ WLC, the DHCP server is also set to DMZ WLC mgmt ip?
    3. Layer 2 authentication. I read that DMZ WLC is supposed to be the DHCP server, Layer 2 or 3 authentication for Wireless Clients. However, it seems like Inside WLC is required to configure the Layer 2 authentication parameters and the DMZ WLC is set to providing the DHCP service?
    4. Lastly, anyone has done DMZ WLC sending the Wireless clients traffic to Bluecoat proxy server before hitting the Internet?
    Thanks.

One of the biggest things is to make sure the wlan is configured exactly the same. The DMZ WLC ingress is the management and also is the egress port. You can create a dynamic interface on the DMZ WLC, but this way makes thing easier. The DMZ WLC should provide the dhcp, so the dhcp scope of course will be on the same subnet as the management of the DMZ WLC. The DHCP Server will be the ip address of the management interface of the DMZ WLC. The authentication also has to be configured exactly the same on the inside wlc and the DMZ wlc. Since you are pushing clients through the tunnel to the DMZ WLC, that is where clients will need to get their ip address, since that DMZ WLC has a network interface to the guest network. I haven't had luck when a proxy is involved, but I know there was a post a while ago on how to setup the proxy to allow the wlc to bypass the users initial dns resolution.

  • Cisco VPN client x64 for win7 - will not install

    Hello guys,
I have fresh windows 7 x64 installation and I try install Cisco VPN client (vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0290-k9.exe). Installation ends with fatal error "Installation ended prematurely of an error". I red lot of 'step-by-step' how to solve this problem (run as administrator, even though that I'm administrator; UAC disabled; run in WinXP-mode; etc), without success.
I tried run installation process from cmd with verbose logging "msiexec /i vpnclient_setup.msi /lv log.txt" (and other 'recomended' optional parameters). The same result - fatal error.
Can anybody tell me where is the problem? (installation file is not corupted)

  • I have a hp deskjet 3050 all-in-one printer how can i setup for wireless printing my os is windows7.

how do i setup my hp deskjet 3050 all-in-one printer for wireless printing my operating system is windows7

Unplug the USB cable.  Now go to Start > All Programs > Hewlett-Packard > Deskjet 3050 > Add a Device.  Run the program and choose Wireless as the installation type.
Follow the directions.  It will ask you to connect a USB cable temporarily.  Do not connect until it asks and remove it when it tells you.
Finally, when you are done, go to Control Panel > Devices & Printers and delete the USB instance of the printer so you don't get confused when printing.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • How to install IPSec Client Certificate for Apple products (iPad,iPhoe and Mac)

We need  Ipsec vpn client authentication with certificate (instead of pre-shared key). We tested the same with Windows client and its works fine. However when we used the same certificates with Apple products (iPad, iPhoe and Mac) it doesnt work.
We have two types of certificates installed on the client from the CA server.
One is the root certificate with the extenstion .cer
and the other one is client certificate with the extension of .pfx (personal informaiton exchange)
We can not find a proper document to install certificates and client configuration for iPad,iPhoe and Mac. We need to know what type of certificates needed, what are the certificate formats and how to install etc.
Appreciate if someone has implemented this and share any documents.
    thanks

  • Cisco VPN Client Driver for Atom Processor Tablet

I recently bought a Dell Venue 8 Pro and installed Cisco VPN Client (5.0.05.0290). I get the Error message "Reason 440: Driver Failure"
This is perhaps this is because the client driver is not compatible with the Atom processor of the Venue 8 Pro. I have serched Dell for a driver but found none.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
According to your description, I think it is compatibility problem.
I suggest you use the vpn in the windows 7 compatibility mode.
Making older programs compatible with this version of Windows:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows
If it doesn't work, I suggest you use the method as the following thread mentioned:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/ad556ff3-8d33-453e-8b16-71e36e23e2c6/cisco-vpn-client-and-windows-81-preview-determinist-network-enhancer-dilema?forum=w8itpronetworking
    Hope this helps.

  • Please Help - CISCO VPN client disconnecting over wireless adapter

    Hi,
I connect to my work network when at home using the CISCO VPN client. I have a wireless connection at home. My vpn conection had no problem until my laptop once dropped hitting the wireless card reader side on the floor. since then, my vpn disconnects after some time. And this also disconnects my wireless connection at home. When I am not connected to work through th eVPN, we have no problems with my wireless connection. But, when I need to work from home, my vpn keeps getting disconnected and throws me off my wireless conenction too everytime. Can someone please tell me how to check if anything is wrong with the laptop?

Ok lets see if we can clear somethings up.
Using wireless and VPN before the "Drop" was ok?
Using Wireless and no VPN after the "Drop" is fine?
Using Wireless and VPN after the "Drop" causes the wireless adapter to disconnect?
If this is correct probally the best thing to do is to remove the cisco VPN software and reinstall it.
It can't be anything to do with the "Drop" as using normal wireless is working fine you say.
and the Cisco VPN Adapter is Virtual.
Let me know how you get on.

  • Static addressing for Cisco IPSEC client

    Hey Guys,
Is there a way for Cisco client based users to use static addresses instead of receivinga a dhcp address? This will be setup on a Cisco 2801 router. We usually just do dhcp but this customer is requesting static address for each user.
    Thanks
    Jimmy

A scalable solution would be to configure a RADIUS server and provide the client their IP address via the frame-ip-address attribute. A hack could be to have a group defined on the EasyVPN server which is associated with an IP pool that has only one address available.

  • Cisco NAC Guest Server for Wireless Users integration with IP telephony

    Hi Team
I have a client who has the following requirement. The cleint requires a Guest server inorder to serve wireless needs for guests at their office. They want the guest to get their authentication codes via SMS. The cleint will have a lobby IP Phone where the guest will press the services button confgiured on the IP Phone. IT will then prompt the guest to enter his mobile number. Once the guest enters his mobile number, the guest will recieve a text via sms gateway with login credentials. They want to offload this from the receptionist and it is for this reason that they require this functionality.
Has anyone done this sort of deployment ? We have already proposed NAC guest server and Wireless controller but we do not know whether the XML application for subscribing the service on the IP Phone is available directly with cisco or does it need to developed.
    Kindly advice on the same.
    Regards
    Azeem

    Hi Vishal,
Please note that if you want to return ACLs (and usually in wired web auth you need to), you will have to integrate with ACS as NGS itself cannot return ACLs in the reply radius attributes.
Basically the process is as follows:
1 - Client plugs cable on switch.
2 - Web auth is triggered on the port.
3 - default ACL permiting only DNS and DHCP is applyed so that the client PC can obtain IP address and open a browser.
4 - Client will be redirected to the NGS hotspot login page.
5 - Client will enter credentials.
6 - Client broswer will send an HTTP POST packet containing the credentials.
7 - The switch will intercept the POS packets and retrieve the credentials entered.
8 - The switch will send Radius Access-Request to the ACS.
9 - The ACS will use the NGS as External Identity source to authenticate the client.
10 - The NGS will reply with Radius Access-Accept to the ACS and the ACS will reply to the switch including the ACL in the Access-Accept.
11 - the Switch authorizes the client on the port and applies the ACL it received from the ACS.
Please follow the document Nicolas posted as it is a good one.
    HTH,
    Thanks

  • AE setup for wireless router and streaming music

I'm attempting to setup my AE base station as a wireless router and use it to stream itunes through a home stereo. I'm using a new Dell Inspriron w/internal wireless card. It is detecting other wireless networks but not seeing the AE base station (which is flashing yellow even after resetting). Any input as to what I am missing?

    Hi.
I am accessing internet thru a wireless router, and it works great. Plugin AE (setup to run on the same network) and the internet gets so slow it ceases to function though I still have a valid IP. When AE is plugged in though, iTunes recognizes the speakers connected, but when I try to select them, it says 'connecting' and the program stops responding. Oh yeah, it's iTunes 5.
I've used my AE in hotels and shops where I've plugged it into an ethernet cable and the internet has worked automatically. I take it home and it stops. Try to play some music over it and it doesn't work either. What gives.
Anybody have any ideas? I'd love some help.
    thanks.

  • Best setup for wireless/wired network needed.

Please help! (and my opologies for the long post.) First, here's the situation: Our office has 6 Mac computers and one PC running XP. Both Macs and the single PC are connected to a network in order to access one of the Macs, which is on all the time running FileMaker Server. A printer is also hooked up to the network. Also, and very important, we have a satellite modem (a WildBlue Surfbeam, mod. no. SM2100), that connects us to the internet. This modem connects directly to a Linksys WRT54G v.3 router, to its internet port. The PC computer connects directly to this router, as well as one Mac. Also connected to the router is a normal Ethernet hub, to which the rest of the computers and the printer are connected. The router is set to be on wireless as well, for when co-workers want to hook up their laptop to the network. Before the new satellite modem was installed a week ago, everything worked fairly well, with occasional network disconnects by some of the computers. Now we get lots more disconnects. When the tech guy installed the new satellite modem, he mentioned that it assigns IP addresses, so he turned off the Linksys from assigning addresses to prevent conflicts. Then he left. But I later found out that several of the computers would not connect to the network or the internet. So I set the router to assign IP addresses again and every computer then connected, at least for awhile. Rebooting everything makes everything work... for awhile. For example, I turn everything off, computers, router, modem. I turn modem on first, wait for it to connect to satellite. Then the router goes on, then the computers. I check the IP addresses on the computers and each is assigned a different number. But as the day goes on and some computers might be turned off, then back on, or to sleep, then awakened... well, they start disconnecting. Just one more thing to complicate the scenario: a buffalo router, with an assigned IP address, is connected to the network, which is outside of the building and beams a quarter of a mile away to another Buffalo router. Both these routers have assigned IP addresses, I believe, and are set to communicate with each other to extend the range of the network. The farthest Buffalo router works as a wireless base station for the building it is in. Would it be a solution if I set manually in each computer its own IP address? Or is there another router out there to better handle this job? Thanks for any new direction to try out...

Another poster had the same problem using the same ISP.  He installed Network Magic and it solved his problem.

  • Best Setup for wireless Speed

    Hi,
Just womering what the views were to getting the best speed from a new infinity circuit. Wired in I get 75/15 but on wireless this drops to 30/15.
Is it best bet to replace the Home hub. I have tried N adapters and changing the wireless interface type to 40 MHz but no real increase ?
Has anyone seen/managed to get any better results
Also I have this below but I can't disable. Is this right ?
    Thanks,
    BT FON:
    Active

My best speed over wireless used to be 30-35mbps, upload around 16mbps, after changing the hh3 wireless settings to 40mhz & enabling the 40mhz function on the wireless n adaptor on my laptop (which was disabled by default!!) I have just had a speedtest result of 70 mbps down!!
I also had a massive ping decrease which was previously jumping around all over the place and usually 100+ms, after making the changes above and running the ping command I'm getting a much more stable ping of around 20ms.
    http://www.speedtest.net/result/1971328969.png
I know have a wireless connection which is 98% as good as my wired connection, which gets me 75 down.

  • Lp client setup for a remote printer.

I have solaris 10 5/8 with current patches. We use the lp command to send scripted reports to a mainframe virtual printer, where the reports are viewed online.
    I have done the following:
1 - made sure that we have all the latest patches up through 141026-05
2 - I have defined my printer as:
    lpadmin -p mainq -s ipp://bigiron/printers/prod
3 - i then try to print a simple ascii file using:
    lp -d mainq mypath/myreport
    4 - I receive back:
Failed to contact service for mainq service unavailable
    5 - i tried lpstat -p
and get the same error message.
On solaris 9 we would have issued:
    lpadmin -p mainq -s bigiron!prod
and that worked first time every time. Please help!

either edit printers.conf or use lpset to use lpd.
    -s lpd://bigiron/printers/prod
    See if that works.
