Cisco Media Player Indexing

When I opened the Cisco Media Player to my music library, I received a message the program was indexing and to try again later.  When I finally was able to open my library, a number of tracks from different artists and albums fell under an "Other" genre and were displaced from their normal positiions.  The features and help for the Media Player are pretty lame, and I need to know how I can get Cisco Media Player to re-index my library back to its original condition.  Refreshing the zones and locations does not do the trick.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Well, after a lot of teeth gnashing and hair pulling, I finally caved in and called Linksys support.  Most of the tech's suggestions were things we talked about earlier, such as the cache flush.  I described to him that I uninstalled the program and re-installed at least three times with no success.  After uninstalling I even went into the registry and elminated any reference or key which contained the words "Cisco Media" and CiscoMedia".  After each install the Cisco Media Player did not show my music library, but it could play the radio stations.   The program would also give me the same message it had earlier about indexing the files.
It was at that point the tech mentioned something which stunned me.  He asked about the LELA version and build.  When I told him I had the latest build, he said I was running the 32 bit version.  My operating system is Vista Ultimate 64.  When I loaded the program from the CD, it had an older version of LELA so the program automatically downloaded the latest '32' bit version.  The tech gave me the URL for the 64-bit version - http://update.linksys.com/lela/install/lela-64.exe.  I uninstalled everything including LELA and went in and scratched the registry as before.  Plus I made sure the Cisco Media Player folder was deleted from the Program files (x86) folder.  After I installed the 64-bit LELA and Cisco Media Library, everything came up right.  The music files were there and indexed correctly and LELA wasn't quirky about the connections as before.
What really aggravated me is the fact that the install disc did not ever query me on the operating system I was using.  It automatically loaded the 32-bit version and then downloaded the updated version.  Not only that but I never did see any reference in their support page about a 64-bit version .  This was Major aggravation with a capital "S".  Well at least I don't feel like I wasted $300 on a POS.  Things are working fine now and I guess that's what's important.

  • Rhapsody Library Empty in Cisco Media Player

    Hello,
I have a Rhapsody account setup and can access it from Cisco Media Player when I use the Search, Channels, and other functions just fine.  However, the Media Player is not able to find my stored Library.  When I login to the Rhapsody web page, my library is there and available.  Yet, when I use the Media Player and go to Rhapsody then My Library, none of the options (Music, My Playlists, My Channels) lists anything in there for me to select.  Like I said, however, I can still go to Rhapsody Search in the Media Player and find stuff that way.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ed

i was just having trouble getting rhapsody to play on my director after i'd set up the free trial - kept getting a 'director error / rhapsody error' on the screen.  figured out that was because i was using my personal email address, which i'd used to set up a previous free trial that had expired...   when i plugged in my work email, which i'd used to set up the new trial, worked perfectly...     to put that email address and password in your need to go through the process of setting up a wireless home audio device with LELA though before it will let you enter your rhapsody user name and password (it then pushes these rhapsody settings to the device).  might be helpful if someone is having a similar set up issue...  i didn't bother to use the install disk initially, but you do need to run LELA for it all to work properly.

  • Installation of Cisco Media Player on additional PCs

If you want to install the Cisco Media Player software (to control a Wireless Home Device) on additional computers, the Quick Installation Manual states in the Troubleshooting section that this can be done by inserting the Wireless Home Audio Installation CD and then press the Connect Computers option on the first screen.
However, this option is missing on the initial screen displayed after CD insertion.

As a workaround, try downloading the setup wizard from LinksysbyCisco download site and extract the ISO file. From it you should be able to install the Cisco Media Center software without running through the whole process again.
    Here's the link for it.

How about the Cisco Media Server software, is it still running? Try disabling your computer firewalls as well for further isolation.

  • Cisco media player missing features

    I setup one dmp100.
Is there a way to play from music on the computer that is the source of the music,  I guess, so that is a zone as well as the dmp100.

yes,  my media files are there.  but I still can't play them on the local computers speakers while I'm playing them on remote network speakers.  there is no zone listed for local computer, and when I play a song it is not audible on computer speakers.  I tunes and wmp have no trouble playing music on speakers.

  • EA4500 Windows 7 cannot index files so files not seen by Windows Media Player

I have setup a disk on the USB port of the EA4500 and have 4 folders.  One being music.  I want to access this folder via my Wireless laptop with Windows Media Player but I only get a handful of the 3000+ songs on the disk.  A hard wired PC can access the files but not a wireless laptop.  I'm not sure where the issue is.  If I use the drive via //host/Music the Star ratings are not available but I get all music,  if I map a drive then I get star rating but only a handful of songs.  I have tried to change permission but I cannot change the file permissions on the Linksys.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You should be able to change the permissions in the router page. Are you using the Classic Firmware or the Linksys Smart Wifi? If you are using the Linksys Smart Wifi firmware, it is under USB Storage > Folder Access. If you are using the Classic Firmware, it is under Storage > Administration. The laptop should be able see all files just like the desktop.

  • Moving music from Windows Media Player to iTunes

    Hi
Apologies if this is repeating what others have asked many times in the past - I know what these forums can get like sometimes! I have had a look around though and couldn't find a definitive answer, so...
I have to date put all my music in Windows Media player on my PC. I am now going to buy an ipod so, obviously, I need my music in iTunes.
Is it simply a case of copying the folders from 'My Music' into the iTunes version of 'My Music'? If so, where is the iTunes version of 'My Music'..?!
    Thanks
    Percy

FIrst before I say anything else, As of now its only...6:30am here on the east coast USA (Which means its 3AM in California) so the event has not taken place yet. Apple is very secritive about what there doing, and anything you hear is rumor til apple comes out, says what there doing/announcing and makes it fact.
Now that said, there has been RUMORS (So far) apple MIGHT release some type of new nano and/or video ipod along with an announcement they have made deals with hollywood to start selling movies on there US store.
I just wanted to give you a heads up just incase you was buying today and the rumors turned out to be true. I would of utterly hated for you me or anyone to buy an ipod today, and then later in the afternoon, or tommorrow apple release a new ipod. If that happend to me... I would be Cursing up a storm (Southern slang meaning I would be REALLY UPSET LOL)
Theres alot of news about the event along with rumors that have be heard, just not confirmed by apple yet. One of them is here

  • Internet, and video or audio and media player--HELP

Ok...maybe its me but I had a powerbook before this and now I have the Macbook Pro. I'm trying to go to like MSNBC news and play video or audio content that needs either media player or something else. I went to microsoft.com to download media player for MAC OSX and it downloaded a file with an extension of *.sitx and when I clicked on it, my macbook didn't know what to do. Just to clarify--I still have a Mac right so I can't download media player for windows based computer??? anyone have suggestions on what to do?

The suffix means it's a Stuffit file (Stuffit is file compression). Stuffit Expander is a free application that can unstuff it. You can get it here: http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/index.html
I did what you did and found that the MSNBC video player did not consistently recognize that I was meeting all the requirements. I was using Firefox at the time and continued to get the dialog about download this and that. I switched to Safari, got that dialog once, but then it started working. I haven't tried it again in Firefox. Note that the player says it is Beta software.

  • All songs not showing up in media player

I loaded songs onto my 8gb microsd card. I can see that the songs are on the card (on the computer and in the phone) but all of them do not show up under media player. When I explore the memory card, I can play the songs that are not on the media player when I go through the folders so I know they are not DRM protected. How can I get the songs to show up in the media player?

    Hi,
If you are able to see the songs on the media card and they play as well, I wouldn't
think the method to move the media is the issue. The issue seems to be the
    indexing of the catalogue.
On the Blackberry go to the main media home screen.
Menu key, explore, media card. Find the music folder, menu key show hidden.
Delete the BBthumbs.dat file. Do a battery pull and return to the media screen
and let the phone fully re-index the files. See if you have all files listed.

  • Songs not showing up in Media Player

I copied song files (mp3) from my computer to the BB Curve 8330 using the Roxio Media Manager.  The song files show up on the phone through the Media Manager, but when I launch the Media Player on the phone, several bands/albums do not show up in the list of available music.  Anyone know why this might be happening?  Thanks!

  • I need a Flash Media player....

    Hey folks, how you doing....
I'm working on a project and I'm in need of a flash media
player, but not just any kind....
I've work with various mp3 as well as FLV video players, and
have had much success using them, but for this project I want to
add something special. It needs to be a bit of a all in one
    unit....
The best example I could find of the kind of thing I'm
looking for was on the official John Mayer Site. (
    http://www.johnmayer.com )
As you can see I would like the player to be able to play
back Video as well as audio (with jpeg background), have a active
play list and of course have the standard controls: Play, stop,
volume, next etc.... I would assume that the data will be fed from
an XML file as most players do.
If there's anyone out there that can help me with a easy
solution to implement this, or know whether I could purchase one
(commercially or private), please let me know. I would appreciate
    it very much.
    Thanks in advance.
    Johnny

    Hi Johnny,
You can create your own FLV player and add the mp3
    functionality into this
    example.
    http://www.flashjester.com/index.php?section=faq_search&search=flv#385
p.s it resizes at runtime which normal flash files you cannot
    do.
Hope you find this useful. Its a good start.

  • View IPTV using Windows Media Player

I have a customer who does not want to install Cisco's IPTV viewer on their clients PCs. They would prefer to use Windows Media Player to view both scheduled and VoD streams from their 3427 Broadcast Servers. Is this possible and if so how is it done?
    Thanks,
    R2

    R2,
Couple of things. If you want to stay away from the installed program, you can use the IPTV plugin, which works fine.
Also, the latest versions of IPTV (I think beginning with 5.1) support the Apple Darwin (QT Streaming server) which will allow you to use the QuickTime plugin for the browser for streaming support and is also free.
If you absolutely must use Windows Media, you can do that through the integrated ACNS/IPTV package, but that's not, let's say, fully baked yet.

  • How do I insert music/media player in a webpage?

So you visit places like my space and other musicians
websites and you see their songs listing, you click the name of the
song and it pops up a player that plays the tunes rather then
letting them download to windows media player.
Some websites already have a player on the page like myspace,
you just click on the name of the song and it starts to play. I'm
interested in music and audio players only, not video.
The deal is to prevent downloads but allow people to listen
    to the songs.
I'm using Dreamweaver 8 to be specific.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Patrick
