Cisco Nac 3310 Upgrade From 4.1.6 to 4.7.2

Hi,
I've to upgrade the NAC Enviroment from 4.1.6 version to 4.7.2 version.
This is the scenario.
2 CAM
2 CAS
on 3310 Platform in HA-Pairs.
On Cisco WebSite i found that upgrading to 4.7.2 is possible by this way: 4.1.6 --> 4.1.8 --> 4.5.1 --> 4.7.2. I think that the direct upgrade 4.1.6 --> 4.5.1 is possible. Can you confirm me that?
Well, I've some questions about this upgrade.
1) If the upgrade fails, is there any rollback task to do? Reinstall the CAM/CAS and restore the backup or what?
2) Can you tell me the downtime for the upgrade 4.1.8 --> 4.5.1?
3) The downtime for the upgrade 4.5.1 --> 4.7.2 ?
Thanks in advance for the support!!!

Thanks you very much, really appreciate your help!
I will follow the procedures that Cisco indicates and i hope that everything will work fine!

I noticed that the tar.gz for the 4.7.2 frome 4.5.x upgrade is an ISO file. Is this the correct file?
The attach image shows the content of the file: cca_upgrade-4.7.2-from-4.5.x-4.6.x.tar.gz
Is right?

  • NAC firmware upgrade from 4.1.3 to 4.7 or 4.8, anyone?

I currently have 1 CAS 3310 Failover Bundle for Wireless user, and 1 CAM Lite Failover Bundle for management.
ACAS, CAM and Clean Access Agents are running 4.1.3. We are considering an upgrade in particular because some end-users machine are soon to be Windows 7. Our authenticaion for users is provided by AD SSO.
I would like to know your experience when doing such a major jump (4.1.3 to 4.8.1). Looking for gotchas and known issues. Also what the incremetal upgrade path look like.
I was thinking we can go 4.1.3 -> 4.6.1-> 4.8.1. Any other way or recommendation. CIsco is highly recommending we go to 4.8.1 if all possioblem.
I am also aware that we need to create new root  certificates.
    Appreciate input.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Yes, that is the correct upgrade path: 4.1.3 -> 4.6.1 -> 4.8.1.
I would recomend you to go through the Release notes for 4.6.1 and 4.8.1 for all the known gotchas and detailed upgrade process.
    Gotchas/changes/upgrade process for 4.6.1: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/nac/appliance/release_notes/461/461rn.html#wp65900.

Regarding the certificates, you should not use the self signed certs due to security reasons, and they should only be used for lab purposes.
This means that it still works with the self signed, but you need to import the CAS cert into the CAM trusted certification authorities and vice-versa, so that the CAM trusts the CAS cert and vice-versa.

  • NAC version upgrade from 4.5.x to 4.7.1-in different geographical location

I have more than fifteen CAS’s in different geographical location (state) and controlled by CAM HA that is located in another location (state). I’m currently running NAC version 4.5 and planning to upgrade to 4.7.1. due to Windows 7 compatibility problem. My question is that, what is the easiest way to upgrade to 4.7.1  without visiting each location to upgrade CAS’s? Is there away to push the new version from the CAM? Visiting each location is not that convenient. Please let me know.
    Thanks,

    Dereje,
Unfortunately for upgrading to this version you need the CD in the box and to reboot from that CD. Reason is that we're changing the underlying OS from Fedora Core to CentOS and that requires a complete re-install of a lot of RPMs which isn't possible without booting from the CD.

  • Cisco 1141N AP upgrading from 12.4 to the latest version 12.x

    Hi,
I purchased the 1141n AP.  Last year when in May, I called Cisco support for help.  He told me it, the 1141n  would not works alone, it needs the controller.  However, He also stated that the new version of IOS will be working as the access point alone.
So I have it, donwload the latest software c1140-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JY.tar from Cisco.com.
Is this the correct version for 1141N and can it work as stand alone now, or acting as the extended WDS extended from the other AP like Apple Extreme.?
    please advice.
    Thanks

Did you buy a 1141LAP or 1141AP? If you bought an LAP, you are going to have to transfer that IOS image you downloaded to your 1141 using xmodem, TFTP, or borrow your buddy's controller, associate your lwap to it, and revert it to IOS. I don't recall how to do it using xmodem (it's a pain and takes forever anyway), but here's the documentation of how to do it using a TFTP server:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp161272
If you bought a 1141AP, you're in luck! Just plug that bad boy into your router, grab the ip, navigate to the http server of it using that ip, and configure away using the web gui! From there, you can even upgrade to the latest version of IOS very easily!
    Good luck!

  • Cisco ASA Upgrade from 7.0(8) to 8.2(1)

Hi,   i need to upgrade my 5510 ASA from 7.0(8) to 8.2(1)       ( Please note its different query from my last thread)
what i found online is i will have to do this upgrade in sequence, that is
    7.0.x -> 7.2.x --> 8.0.x --> 8.2.1
    is that correct?
or i will go to 7.1.x first? like this
    7.0.x--> 7.1.x -> 7.2.x --> 8.0.x --> 8.1.x--> 8.2.1
Please guide, Also i am assuming, reboot required after every upgrade right?

ok, i found something on another Cisco document. that is what i thought
To ensure that your configuration updates  correctly, you must upgrade to each major release in turn. Therefore, to  upgrade from Version 7.0 to Version 8.2, first upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1,  then from 7.1 to 7.2, and finally from Version 7.2 to Version 8.2 (8.1  was only available on the ASA 5580). "

  • Upgrading from cisco LMS 3.0 to a latest version

    Hello,
Upgrading from cisco LMS 3.0 to a higher version.
    Whatdoes it require?.
    What is the current version?
What do we need for upgrading?
Are there specific codes or new need to buy new products?
In case of buying new products, which are the configurations?

    H Malik,
You are correct! Latest version is Cisco prime LMS 4.2. There is no direct upgrade from LMS 3.x to LMS 4.x.
    The procedure is simple:
Take backup orf old LMS --> Un-install (if same machine)--> Install new LMS --> Restore backup to get old data.
You would need to purchase new license for it.Cisco Prime LMS is now part of the Cisco Prime Infrastructure bundle and is not orderable separately. Cisco Prime Infrastructure bundle follows a size-based incremental licensing model. Device licenses can be combined and added when applied to a single server installation instance. Customers have the option of adding incremental licenses for additional devices as their network grows.Refer to the Cisco Prime Infrastructure Ordering Guide located at http://www.cisco.com/go/primeinfrastructure for the exact part number that matches your requirement and placing the order.
Currently even SmartNet or SAS contracts does not cover major upgrades from LMS 2.x and 3.x; an upgrade part number will need to be purchased to move to Cisco Prime LMS 4.2. These upgrade part numbers reflect a significant discount to protect customers' investment in the Cisco Prime product line.
The data migration process will vary depending on the LMS version from which the data need to be migrated. Migrating data to LMS 4.2:
    • LMS 4.2 supports local upgrade or direct inline upgrade only from LMS 4.0.1 and LMS 4.1.
    • LMS 4.0 customers are encouraged to install LMS 4.0.1 before doing inline upgrade to LMS 4.2.
    • LMS 3.2 and LMS 3.2 Service Pack 1 customers can do a remote upgrade through the LMS backup and restore mechanism.
    • LMS 3.1, LMS 3.0, LMS 3.0 December 2007 Update, LMS 2.6, and LMS 2.6 Service Pack 1 customers need to do a remote upgrade to LMS 4.0.1 and then upgrade to LMS 4.2.

  • Upgrade from Cisco Unified CM 4.2 to CUCM 6.0

We are planning an upgrade from CUCM 4.2 to CUCM 6.0 in March, 2009. Is it significantly different? Should I try to get some training classes before upgrade? Or are functions esentially the same?

    Hi Mary,
    Happy 2009 my friend!
First off, if you can get some training it's always a valuable thing. That being said, functionally, the knowledge that you have gained while working with CUCM 4.x versions will carry across nicely. So you won't be working "in the dark" here. The look and feel is quite different but is not a "show stopper".
If you get some time to play in the "lab" you should be good to go.
    Here is one Cisco Press book that is good for CUCM 6.x studies;
Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1)
Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1), is a Cisco®-authorized, self-paced learning tool for CCVP® foundation learning. This book provides the knowledge necessary to install, configure, and deploy a Cisco Unified Communications solution based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, the call routing and signaling component of the Cisco Unified Communications solution. By reading this book, you will gain an understanding of deploying a Cisco Unified Communications Manager to support single site, centralized, distributed, and hybrid call processing models.
This book focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.x. You will learn how to install and configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager, power over Ethernet switches, and gateways using MGCP. You will also learn how to build a scalable dial plan for on-net and off-net calls. The dial plan chapters of the book cover call routing, call coverage, digit manipulation, class of service, and call coverage components. This book will teach you how to implement media resources, LDAP directory integration, and various endpoints including Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Cisco Unified Video Advantag endpoint configuration is covered, in addition to, Cisco Unity® voice mail integration and basic voice mail box creation. Various user features are discussed including Presence.
Whether you are preparing for CCVP certification or simply want to gain a better understanding of Cisco Unified Communications Manager fundamentals, you will benefit from the foundation information presented in this book.

  • Upgrade from NAC release 4.1(3) to release 4.7(1)

    Hi All,
We have two CAM and two CAS appliances. Both pair of them are working in High availability mode.
We need to upgrade them from version 4.1(3) to version 4.7(1) so, as i read, we should upgrade them to 4.7(0) first before upgrading to 4.7(1).
Now, i'd like to know how can i upgrade from 4.1(3) to 4.7(0)? Is this done by the same steps of the upgrading from 4.7(0) to 4.7(1) by inserting a CD into the CAS and CAM and then continue the upgrade steps?
Also, I'd like to know if the configuration on the existing version (4.1(3)) will be lost after the upgrade or not?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Heba

    Heba,
You can go to 4.7.1 by going to 4.5, 4.6, or 4.7 first, so best option for you would be to upgrade to 4.6 or 4.5 (since they don't require a CD install, but just uploading the packages and then doing the upgrade) and then to use the CD to go to 4.7.1
When you boot from the CD after rebooting cleanly (using the shutdown -r now command) you will get an option to upgrade. This option will retain all the settings, so you don't have to start afresh.
Also make sure that the 4.7.1 CD that you burn is done at the slowest possible speed (recommended 4X or 6X), since doing it at a faster speed can result in a corrupted CD and hence a failed upgrade.
    G'luck!

  • Cisco NAC Agent 4.9.1.682 Problems with Mac Os X 10.7.4

    Hi
My Cisco NAC Agent  (version 4.9.1.682) doesn't work since I upgraded my Mac OS X  4 months ago, This happens every time with CISCO and MAC when there is a new update and it always seems to take forever to fix.
The NAC agent just keeps asking for my login in details even though there are correct (I can log in with a PC no problem).
Any update on when a new version is going to be released - Its getting really frustrating?

I figured out a solution that works you must disable Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) on the affected system. To do this :
Open Keychain Access. Keychain Access can be found by selecting Go in the Finder and choosing the Utilities option. Keychain access should be listed in the folder that appears. Double-click the Keychain Access icon to open it.
Select Keychain Access -> Preferences from the menu at the top of the screen
        Choose the Certificates tab
Change the OCSP option from Best Effort to Off
Close the Preferences dialog and quit Keychain Access
You should be able to NAC now

  • Cisco NAC Agent and Windows 8 still not working

Hello. I recently upgraded the Cisco NAC Agent to the latest version (4.9.1.13) on a Windows 8 VM. The release notes state that Windows 8 support has been added, and that a patch must be downloaded. However, the information about the patch is vague. I'm not sure if it's a client or server-side patch, or perhaps if I already have it as a result of upgrading to the latest version.
I ask this because I plan to upgrade some computers to Windows 8, and have noticed that Cisco NAC Agent can't handshake with the NAC server on Windows 8 (both native and VM), and despite upgrading to the latest version, the handshake is still unsuccessful.
    Thanks,
    -Collin

    Hi Collin,
The 4.9.1 Patch for Windows 8 Support can be downloaded from the following link :
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282910502&flowid=34713&softwareid=282573326&release=4.9.1&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
The patch should be applied to both 4.9.1 CAM and CAS.
Please go through the README file for patch provided in the download link provided above. It has detailed information.
