    Hi,
I wanted to see if anyone can give me a quick breakdown on the differences between some Network Management software titles.  I dont know when you would use each one or what the limitations are of each.
    CNA - Cisco Network Assistant

I have been looking over the realease notes for each product trying to draw some conclusion on which titles support or dont support certain products.
Has anyone used these and can give a quick answer for when you would use each and if there are any gotchas or limits to watch out for?
It looks like Prime is a paid for product but will any of the free solutions (CNA, CCP, CCA) work with all enterprise level products (2950, 2960, 3560, 3750, 4948, 4900 4500 switches and 1800, 1900, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 routers) or do you have to use Prime to get a product that will mange these devices?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Please recommend network management software

    Hello!
I need help to find some network management software that will work with our switches. I'm running a network that has Cisco/Linksys managed switches:
    10xSLM2008,
    5xSRW208,
    2xSRW2008MP,
    1xSF 300-08
I was hoping there is management software (not the webview/web browser thing), that could do these things (in preferred order):
    - connect to these by SNMP (or similar) to show me a little statistics on each port on each switch, along with connectivity between these switches.
    - let me know which port knows which mac addresses, and maybe also the IP addresses of these.
    - let me know which mac addresses uses most bandwidth
    - ban a mac address
I'd be happy if anybody could give me an advice on what software to buy.
    Best regards,
    Lars E Fodnes

It can't ban a MAC address, but that is what dot1x/port security is for. I'm not sure if your switches support it, but you can look into that from the switch standpoint.

  • Lookin for a NMS such as CiscoWorks network management software

    hi everybody
I 'm lookin' for CiscoWorks network management software or equivalent on support section on cisco website support.
I want it to configure snmp on my catalyst 2950 and get some results likes input and output traffic rate on my catalyst, all trafic generated by equipment connected on my catalyst with some detailes likes equipement ip, input and output trafic rate, graph and son on.
I don't find it on the cisco website so I think they'll have an equivalent on the website but I don't know.
If someone has an idea or a link...
    Thank you

    Hi Serge,
Are looking to obtain software that you can install and use, or are you looking for documentation for software you already have?
One type of network management software freely available is MRTG, it will produce graphs of network traffic, a very handy utility:
    http://www.mrtg.com/
Another freeware NMS, if I'm not mistaken, is Nagios:
    http://www.nagios.org/products/nagiospowered/
We do have some software available for device configuration also (depending on the device). Perhaps the Cisco Netowrk Assistant? You can navigate there from http://www.cisco.com . Choose Support, and under Otion 2, choose "Download Software". Then select "Netowrk Management", "Routing and Switching Management", and "Cisco Network Assistant". Follow the navigation, and you should be able to have a tool to help configure your devices.
    Cheers,
    Curtis

  • Cisco Network Management Solution

    Hi,
I was asked to put together a Network Management solution to manage multiple sites. The sites are as follows:
    Site 1 - Approx 30 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 2 - Approx 50 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 3 - Approx 40 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 4 - Approx 40 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 5 - Approx 50 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
The sites are connected over a 2 or 4Mbps WAN connection to a central site.
Can you please advise on the following:
    1) Architecture - Centralized or Distributed?
    2) Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2? or is there anything else?
    Thanks,
    Z

You need to define what functions you want before selecting tools.
    Event management (syslog, SNMP traps).
Network Change and Configuration Management (NCCM), which includes network discovery, inventory, as well as config mgmt.
Performance data collection, analysis, and alerting.
    IP Address management.
    Topology mapping.
    Active path testing.
    Application performance management.
Once you know what functions you want to implement, you can start identifying products that fulfill those requirements.

  • Network Management Software

    Hi All,
got several switches on LAN(6509,2950,2960,3550,3560,2550) & serveral routerz on the WAN, i am looking for a network monitoring tool where i should get alert over email & sms, so can any one suggest which is the best tool?

    Hello Anandana,
There are many tools out there. I give you two options, one published under the GPL license:
Just For Fun Network Management System -- http://www.jffnms.org
and a commercial product from Cisco:
    CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 2.5 -- http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2425/index.html
If you have questions regarding CiscoWorks you can post them in the network management section section.

  • Wireless network management software for iMac?

    Hello all
I am running a home WLAN via a cable modem + Belkin N Wireless Router, with my Intel iMAc wired to the router, and 3 PC's with wireless connections.
    All running perfectly!
However - I would like to be able to control the network from the Mac, specifically as follows:
    - have visibility of all machines connected at any time
    - have visibility of the bandwidth consumption of each machine
    - be able to "bandwidth throttle" each machine, ie allocate maximum "shares of bandwidth"
    - be able to schedule bandwidth throttling per machine, as well as set manually
Is there any software that does this for the Mac, and that is recommended by users on this board?
Note that I have zero understanding of router functionality and therefore accept that this question may or may not make sense!
Thanks in advance for any help / recommendations

Rick - thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Yes there are controls in the router to manage internet access for each client on the network but they are simply of the yes / no variety - allowing the admin to just turn access on or off.
My teenage kids use Internet access for a variety of (legitimate!) purposes but my ISP (Virgin Media) imposes automatic "traffic management" bandwidth throttle on my connection (from 10 MBPS to 1 MBPS for 5 hours) if our overall bandwidth consumption exceeds 1,200 MB between 4pm and 9pm (http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html)
Needless to say, getting my kids to monitor and limit their own traffic during this period is impossible - so I would like to be able to automate the policing of traffic levels fairly amongst 3 concurrent users during the trigger time slot 4pm - 9pm without having to resort to a blunt "on/off" policy.
From your reply I guess that my router provider (Belkin) would be the best source of information regarding available software for this - assuming it exists ...?
    Thanks

  • Networking Management Software

    Hi,
i have got Cisco 6509,2950,3550 & 3750 switches, i wanted monitor the network traffic on the network, implemented VLAN's also, so is there any software in cisco itself or any other 3rd party software available.?

I have been looking into doing this, too. I found a 3rd party software that looks interesting. It is OpManager from AdventNet. The free one will monitor up to 20 devices. If you need to do more than that you can upgrade to Professional for $795. Here is the URL: http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/opmanager/

  • Network Management Software for MF4890dw?

We recently installed a bunch of MF4890dw multifunction printer/copier/scanners on our office.  Is there an easy way to manage these over the network?  I know I can access each one individually through its IP address, but the amount of control is limited.  For most things, I have to physically push the buttons on the front panel.  I would like to be able to administer them all centrally through a utility like HP's Web JetAdmin.
Also, how do I add a scanner to a computer (and visa versa), short of reinstalling the software from scratch?  Is there a setting I am just missing?
These are very nice devices, but it is frustrating to not have more control.
(Please excuse the cross-post--after I posted under "multifunction" I saw that this issue may be more appropriate here.)

    Hi pgreen!
There is no software that would allow an administrator to centrally control multiple units over the network.  The imageCLASS units are designed to reduce errors, which is why most functions have to be selected at the printer.
Canon does not currently have a supported software that will allow you to add a scanner to a computer.
I hope this information is helpful to you.  If you need further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).  Have a good day.

  • Unified Communications Network Management Licensing

    Hi,
i have purchased all 4 VOIP Network Management Software (CUOM, CUSM, ecc...) with their PAK. Now i'm going to register the 4 PAK, but i have a doubt: Cisco requires the MAC address of the server that hosts the Management Software. I have installed the Cisco software on 2 HP dl380 servers with 4 NIC's and, on each server, i configured 2 NIC's in load balance (with embedded HP network software): the other 2 NIC's are disconnected.
Is there someone that can tell me which MAC address i must provide to Cisco PAK registration ?
    Thank you,
    Roberto

Interesting question. When you configured the network team, the MAC address of one of the physical interfaces was grabbed and assigned as the team's primary layer 2 address.  If I recall correctly, this would normally be the first (lowest numbered) ethernet interface.  But it is likely more complicated than that.  But, the point is I would lean to using the mac address reported for the team by the network configuration utility (NCU).
    A good doc/pdf on the topic: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01415139%2Fc01415139.pdf

  • Cisco application networking manager license file - unable copy to server

    Hi all
We tried all the options like ftp, tftp, scp, etc., to copy cisco application networking manager license file from my pc to its server which has CISCO ADE OS .But unable to copy .can anybody know correct method to copy ??
    Thanks & Regards
    Sanjeevi

    Adrian,
In order to install the license you must have a license file on the ANM server and install it through the command line:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/application_networking_manager/4.1/installation/guide/IG_config.html#wpmkr1120937
No other way to do it.
License file can either be copied to the ANM file system, or you can create a new empty license file on it and copy paste the license file content.
If you have no access to the ANM server through CLI, then a workaround might be:
         - install a new VMWARE machine where you have CLI access.
         - install ANM on it
         - copy license (other you copy the file through any means or you create a file and edit by copy pasting the license file content)
         - install license with the command  /opt/CSCOanm/bin/anm-license install /path/ANMxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.lic as described in the link above
         - save the VMware image
         - deploy the same VMWare image to the ESX where it has to be installed and where you have no access to CLI neither you can copy a file.
    Hope this helps,
    Domenico.

  • Software Cisco Network Assistant for Switch SMB?

Is there any management software as the Cisco Network Assistant for smb switch as SLM224G or SRW224G4-K9-NA, or only works with models 2960 and higher?

The SX300 series switch will work with CCA. But it does not work with CNA.

  • How do I install individual driver of Killer LAN without its Network Management application?

I found sometimes the Network Management application would conflict with other online application, and in other forum an user provided a pure driver package that can solve the problem.
    Here is the steps:
First you can download MSI pure Killer LAN driver from this link:
    http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mgwZs96
Please uninstall old Killer LAN driver package from control panel if you already have the driver in OS.
Download and extract the RAR file to windows desktop.  Double click “dpinst.exe” to install the killer driver.
It is normal if you see the message of “No device for update present” in the last step, that’ s because the driver package includes all kinds of killer LAN chip drivers, some don’t exist in your system.
Just click “Finish” to complete the driver installation.  Restart system and you can start to enjoy the web surfing.
And if you encounter problem when you uninstall Killer LAN driver, you can use Killer official uninstall utility to completely remove the driver.
    32 bit:
    https://www.qca.qualcomm.com/drivers/KillerCleaner_32bit.exe
    64 bit:
    https://www.qca.qualcomm.com/drivers/KillerCleaner_64bit.exe

Just install the Killer LAN driver from MSI website, the manager is always installed with the driver.
