Is Cisco Nexus 5596UP support vlan base Policing and traffic shaping on code NX OS version: 5.1(3)N1(1)
where i couldn't see any police command under the policy mapI have tested this issue on another 5548UP with L3 running the same NX-OS version and get the same problem. Show CDP from the switch is not discovering devices, but the neightbors can see the 5K in question. Reboot sometimes will fix it, but not always. I suspect a problem with the software since that doesn't happen in NX-OS 5.2. The one I am using is

Cisco LAN Management Solution is required to support Cisco Nexus 5548P and 5596UP switches?
Hi,
Could someone help to know what Cisco LAN Management Solution is required to support Cisco Nexus 5548P switches and Cisco Nexus 5596UP switches?
These new Cisco switches are being implementing on customer network and he ask us that he requires these equipments be supported on a LMS solution (customer currently is using LMS 3.2.1)
Can someone help?
Thanks in advanced,
guruizSome very limited Nexus support is present in LMS 3.2.1 - see the supported device table here.
To get more complete support, including the 5596UP, they need to upgrade to LMS 4.x (e.g. LMS 4.2.2 is the latest and is sold under the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 umbrella). The major upgrade from 3.x to 4.x requires purchasing an upgrade license.
Some functions (namely User Tracking ) will not be available on the 5k due to non-support of the requisite MIB on the device. I believe LMS still doesn't let you do VLAN management on 5k's - you need to use DCNM for that if you want to do it from a GUI.
See the table here for LMS 4.2 device support. -

Cisco Nexus 3K Layer 3 Connectivity Issue while using Optical SFP
Dear All,
Am facing L3 reachability issue between N3k switched, even in same subnet. Also checked that VLAN is allowed under trunk port.
I can able to see the switch details as CDP neighbour.
We are using SVI, and found all the SVI and Interface protocol status is up/up. So to test I use a host to directly connect N3k with Optical SFP in access port, found failure on reachability, but while replacing with SFP ethernet module instead of SFP optical module reachability is okay.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks,

Cisco Nexus 5548UP support SFP-10G-LRM ?
Hi all, I have a question about Cisco Nexus 5548UP. Is Cisco Nexus 5548UP support SFP-10G-LRM ? Because in CCW, i can't configure the SFP-10G-LRM. There is only SFP-10G-LR, SR, and the others, but there's no LRM. Pelase help me to answer this question. Thanks a lot
The LRM is s special case transceiver which supports 10 Gbps over older FDDI grade multimode fiber when used with a mode conditioning patch cord. It is not supported on the Nexus 5548UP.
The SFP-10G-LR is used with single mode fiber for spans up to 10 km in length. It is supported on the 5548UP (and most every platform of Cisco's that takes SFPs).
Please see the product data sheet here. -
Cisco Nexus 5548UP and FI6248UP compatibility with FC SFP
Cisco Nexus 5548UP and FI 6248UP comes with Unified Ports. What are the SFP types this port can take? 1Gig, 10Gig and 2/4/8FC. Could you please clarify?
Thanks,

Routing issue between Cisco Nexus and Cisco 4510 R+E Chassis
We have configured Cisco Nexus 7K9 as core and Cisco 4510 R+E as access switches for Server connectivity.
We are experiencing problem in terms of ARP learning and Ping issues between Cisco Nexus and end hosts.Hi,
So you have N7k acting as L3 with servers connected to 4510?.
Do you see the MAC associated with failing ARP in 4510?. Is it happening with all or few servers?. Just to verify if it is connectivity issue between N7k and 4510, you can configure an SVI on 4510 and assign address from same raneg (server/core range) and perform a ping.
This will help narrow down if issue is between server to 4510 or 4510 to N7k.
Thanks,
Nagendra -

Just to further clarify, we have 4 5548UP switches in the same management vlan. 2 switches are in one location lets say location A and they are CFS peers and are working fine.
These two switches which are having problem are in location B. All the switches are in the same vlan. Essentially the all CFS multicast messages will be seen by all 5548 switches as they are in the same vlan. I am assuming that this might not create any problems as we specify the peers in the respective configurations. Or do we have to change the CFSoIPv4 multicast addresses in location B or may be configure a different region.
Regards. -
I have a Cisco Nexus 3172T in a small environment running System version: 6.0(2)U3(1). I am using a vlan as management access, i.e. vlan100 is on every device and is using for snmp/ssh access. On the same switch I have one non-switchport (routed) port (eth1/6 in this case) connecting to a remote datacenter. I am able to SNMP poll and ping the vlan100 interface on the switch from everywhere, and I am able to SSH login while I am connected on any of the VLANs that are known to the switch. My problem comes when trying to access (SSH) the switch from the remote datacenter location (SNMP/Ping also works from the remote location). The only way to SSH access the switch from the remote location is only if I SSH in on the routed port (i.e. eth 1/6).
I am not using the dedicated management port on the switch (nor I have any plans in the future). I am also running very plain config, a few switchports, one routed port, and the default control-plane policy (which is only policy pps). There are the ACLs on the VTY.
Am I running into a known bug or is there some configuration requirement to allow this ?
thanks
draganIts not in a VRF or anything like that is it?
Also have you tried setting the ssh source interface to be vlan 100.

Changing the air flow in Nexus 5596UP without interuption.
We have a Nexus 5596UP and we want to change the air flow to the opposite direction.
I think it is possible to change it without an interruption but have no lab to test it.
I think when I remove all the fans and change 1 power supply the systems keeps running.
(don’t know if the Nexus can work with 2 different power supply’s, this is the catch !!!)
After the new power supply is inserted I will remove the other one (the old one) and push in the new fans.
Hopefully all within 30 seconds to prevent a shut down or mismatch errors.
Is this possible?
Please advise
Kind regards,
Remko van GilstHi Remko,
The airflow through the other Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switches is from front to back, but you can change the airflow back-to-front
Note: The Cisco Nexus 5596 has front to back airflow so you must position it with the front facing a cold isle.
Cisco Nexus 5000 Platform switch with one power supply, removing the power supply causes the switch to shut down. If you are using two power supplies and you remove one of them, the switch can continue to operate.
The fan module is designed to be removed and replaced while the system is operating without presenting an electrical hazard or damage to the system, if the replacement is performed promptly.
I hope you will need some down time since you need flipped around physically to align the airflow anyway.
Please try the below steps,
Power Supplies replacement:
Pull one power supply (System operates normally).
Insert one new power supply (60 second timer will begin).
Pull the second power supply (60 second timer stops)
Insert the second new power supply
Fan replacement:
Pull one fan (System operates normally with 3 fans – N+1)
Insert one new fan
Remove second fan.
Insert second new fan.
Remove third fan.
Insert third new fan.
Remove fourth fan.
Insert final new fan.

Do I need to enable any features or install a different license?
Nexus 5500 Multicast Config Guide 6.x:
IGMP Snooping Querier
When PIM is not enabled on an interface because the multicast traffic does not need to be routed, you must configure an IGMP snooping querier to send membership queries. You define the querier in a VLAN that contains multicast sources and receivers but no other active querier.
When an IGMP snooping querier is enabled, it sends out periodic IGMP queries that trigger IGMP report messages from hosts that want to receive IP multicast traffic. IGMP snooping listens to these IGMP reports to establish appropriate forwarding
Example:
switch(config-vlan)# ip igmp snooping querier 172.20.52.106

Nexus 3048, SFP invaild Issue
Hello Team,
I have Cisco 3064 Nexus switch using this nx-os code n3000-uk9.6.0.2.U2.1.bin. when we are inserting SFP in module, its showing SFP Invalid, These SFP are not cisco one, but its compatible one with Cisco, out of 16 ports 9 ports are up but 7 ports are showing SFP Invalid.
Is there any specific reason why its giving this error.
Kindly guide me.
Regards,
Harish KansalDid you try a different port such as e1/1? Sounds like a bug to me

I have tested the SFP's in use on a pair of 2960's & they work fine!
If i replace the SFP's for copper, then they work fine also.
Does anyone know of any incompatibility issue with this SFP?
Thanks
ColinDid you try a different port such as e1/1? Sounds like a bug to me

Interoperability between Cisco Nexus 5548UP and IBM FC3171
Dear Techies,
We have a Cisco Nexus Switch 5548UP already in our environment with DS-SFP-FC8G-SW installed. We are planning to procure IBM Pure Flex Chassis without FC Switch, since we already have Nexus that can provide this facility. But in order to connect IBM Flex with Cisco Nexus we are planning to use IBM FC3171 Switch with IBM 44X1964 Transceivers which will act as a Mediator/Pass Through Switch for connecting IBM and Cisco.
If any expert knows OR have used this scenario, please let me know since I am interested to know if it will work in this scenario or not.
Regards,
Farhan.Dear prkrishn
I am working on the Data Center Solution between two Data Center, details underneath
DC 1 Site
1. 2 x DC Core Switch (Nexus 7009) - will be used for Servers, Application, IBM V7000, Database, etc.
2. 2 x Network Core Switch (Cisco 6509) - Handle Campus and Inter Building connection.
3. IBM V7000 (SAN)
DC 2 Site
1. 2 x DC Core Switch (Nexus 7009) - will be used for Servers, Application, IBM V7000, Database, etc.
2. 2 x Network Core Switch (Cisco 6509) - Handle Campus and Inter Building connection.
3. IBM V7000 (SAN)
With the above mention setup, can I configure FCIP between DC1 & DC2 using Nexus 7009? or I need FCIP capable Switch such as IBM SAN Switch (SAN06-BR), I was wondering if I can configure FCIP on Nexus 7009 DC Switch.
Hoping for your kind response at earliest.
Kind Regards,
Arnold

Put URL of downloaded files in Get Info's Comments field?
I'm using Safari Version 3.0.4 (build 5523.10.6). I know it is possible to have the url of where a file was originally downloaded to appear in the Get Info's comments field automaticly. I know this because it used to do this sometime ago, I remember.
