Cisco NX-OS and ASA Software Checker
Hi,
I'm sorry if I post this in the wrong section.
Currently we have a few Nexus switches and ASA Firewall in our network and I would like to check if there's any critical bug on the running OS/firmware on those devices.
May I know if Cisco has page to verify on this?
Bug Search Tool is what you want to use:
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch
You can also ask in the forums for those platforms.
This forum is to discuss specific bugs.

Cisco Cean Access and Symantec (bad check)
Has anyone out there using CCA experienced the following issue where a requirement is set (any selected rule succeeds(AV updates)) and the users pass one of the selected rules but is thrown into the temporary access mode. The rule they are passing is "av_inst_SymantecClientSecurity_10_x_win_XP_2K". Has anyone seen this rule before??? Thanks for your response

User from certificate with Cisco VPN client and ASA (and radius)
Hello,
we are trying to migrate a vpn client connection from GROUP to certificate. We want that client uses the user from the certificate and doesn't ask user, only password. Is it possible? Now, with user certificate, you can connect as another user if you know the user and the password of the other user with your own certifcate.
Thanks!

Ok with that being said will the MBA 11.6 1.4ghz have the guts to make it run mostly internet based programs over the VPN connection?
I think if you are running apps over the Internet the bottleneck will be the Internet and your VPN bandwidth. Your computer can certainly execute faster than Internet communications.
Besides, Internet or remote applications run on the remote server. All your local computer does is local processing of the data if necessary.

What's the difference between 8.0 and 9.3 Cisco ASA software?
Is anyone show me the link with features of 8.0 and 9.3 Cisco ASA software? And what's the catch?
9.2(2.8) is what is known as an interim release of the software. Per Cisco interim release notes:
"They contain bug fixes which address specific issues found since the last Feature or Maintenance release. The images are fully supported by Cisco TAC and will remain on the download site only until the next Maintenance release is available. If you do not have a specific problem which is resolved by an Interim release, we recommend that you use the Feature or Maintenance release images.
Important: These images were not fully regression tested. Each individual fix was unit tested, and the image has had a limited amount of automated regression testing to confirm a baseline of functionality. Keep this testing status in mind if you decide to run them in a production environment. We strongly encourage you to upgrade to a fully tested Maintenance or Feature release when it becomes available."
Interim release notes are not generally published on the general product support page but if you go to the downloads page, there is usually a link to the release notes specific to the interim release.
Here is a link to the ASA 9.2(2.9) interim release notes. They describe the individual bug fixes rolled up in that release. -
Cisco call manager and ip phone software.
Hi everybody.
Does Cisco call manager also include software required for ip phone? Or software for ip phone needs to be installed on tftp server and it does not come with cisco call manager.?
thanks and have a great weekend.Hi Sarah,
by ip phone software, do you mean Cisco IP Phone Agent software?
if yes, then you need to have Customer Response Solution (CRS) and Call Manager together to setup ip phone software (services).
check this link for further info:

NAT / PAT config conversion from PIX v6 to ASA Software 8.3 and above
Hi folks,
I'm currently working on converting some PIX firewall configs to ASA and wanted to check I was on the right track, as I don't currently have the ASA's so doing the configs up front!
Everything seems straight forward in the conversion and I've used the pixtoasa tool for some of it, but NAT is implemented differently on 8.3, the PIX was running v6 and I'm used to doing mainly static one to one NAT in ASDM.
The scenario that the PIX has 3 NAT groups which are mapped to 3 separate addresses, where multiple hosts are behint the NAT / PAT. Current config of the PIX is as follows (obviously the names are defined further up the config so this is an extract of the PIX):
global (outside) 1 10.50.50.38
global (outside) 2 10.50.50.39
global (outside) 3 10.50.50.49
nat (inside) 0 access-list no-nat-all
nat (inside) 2 Host_1 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 2 Host_2 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 2 Host_3 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 1 Host_4 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 1 Host_5 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 1 Host_6 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 1 Host_7 255.255.255.255 0 0
nat (inside) 3 Network_3 255.255.255.0 0 0
ASA Config
After a fair amount of reading up on this topic, I'm looking at changing the ASA config in software version 8.3 to the following - Also is it easier to just do this in ASDM? Looks pretty easy from youtube videos but rather have something to put on the box when I arrive at site NAT wise as opposed to working it out there!
Define NAT Objects (outside IP addreses)
object network NAT_1_outside_10.50.50.38
host 10.50.50.38
object network NAT_2_outside_10.50.50.39
host 10.50.50.39
object network NAT_3_outside_10.50.50.49
host 10.50.50.49
exit
Define NAT Objects (inside IP addreses)
object-group network NAT_1_Objects
network-object Host_4 255.255.255.255
network-object Host_5 255.255.255.255
network-object Host_6 255.255.255.255
network-object Host_7 255.255.255.255
nat (inside,outside) dynamic NAT_1_outside_10.50.50.38
object-group network NAT_2_Objects
network-object Host_1 255.255.255.255
network-object Host_2 255.255.255.255
network-object Host_3 255.255.255.255
nat (inside,outside) dynamic NAT_2_outside_10.50.50.39
object-group network NAT_3_Objects
network-object Network_1 255.255.255.0
nat (inside,outside) dynamic NAT_3_outside_10.50.50.49
Any assistance with this would be appreciated.
cheers
MalcolmI cannot make heads or tails of what your trying to accomplish in plain english first before looking at router setup.
If your talking about hosting servers behind the router on your private LAN (asssuming one public WANIP). Then one uses ACLs to control external users by individual OR GROUP and static NAT to port forward users to the correct server. One does not worry about groups of users for this direction of nat rule.
If what your saying is that you have a LAN and 3 different groups of users on the LAN that need to go to specific external IP addresses (external servers) then once again I would say you should ACLs to limit-authorize users and simply use NAT for port translation purposes. So conceptually speaking allow all lan users static nat, and then only allow group 1 hosts access to first external IP, group 2 hosts to second external IP, and group 3 hosts to third external IP. Note you will have to add a deny rule in firewall in general because normally higher to lower security interface is allowed by default.
Am I close......... before going any further need more details on the requirements nevermind setup. -
VPN with Cisco 877 and ASA 5505
Hi Experts
this is my scenario :
remote clients ----> Internet----> Cisco 877---> ASA5505---->LAN
i would like to allow remote users to connect to my LAN to chek their mails and work as they are in the office. Actually i have configured Cisco877 as VPN Server this is working Fine. but now i'm trying to use ASA with the router because it permit 25 connections at the same time.
i'm connected to internet using a public ISDN IP.i have heard that i need a second IP adresse for ASA ! and the ASA must act as VPN server and the router as Client, is that right ?
if i need to configure the link between the router and ASA how can i do it ? i can't find any document or example in the net :/
please i need your support to make this dream real lol.
i will poste my configuration step by step following your help.
many thanks.ASA need public ip address that is sure and also ASA acts as vpn. Client server will be remote not router. For that you can use any Ethernet. Trying to make a remote VPN connection via the cisco client, authenticate against an RSA Secure Token server and provide the client an IP address via DHCP.

It runs and says it is installing but at the end I get this error message:
BUT then I ge tthis:
Can anyone help me to enable the software to update?
ThanksThanks. Something isn't right as I just tried to download the iphoto update - it said it had competed the download but then when I clicked on the download item I get this:
Think will have to take it into the store.....
thanks for replying. -
My MacKeeper says iPhoto is out of date. When I try to update it, the App Store says I need IOS 10.9 or later. I have 10.7.5 and when I check for updates my Mac says the OS software is up to date. How do I solve this problem??
1. First step to solving the Problem: Trash MacKeeper. It's a pile of trash that does far more harm to your computer than good.

2. What version of iPhoto do you have? (iPhoto Menu -> About iPhoto) -

Can I format the CF in a cisco 1800 router and then use it on the ASA 5520?
Can I format Compact Flash in a cisco 1800 router and then use it on the ASA 5520?
You don't have to format the card in the router. You can do that on your PC. Just format the CF-card as FAT32 and plug it into the ASA.
BUT: If you just want to "upgrade" the old card with a different one, then first attach the original card from the ASA to your PC and copy all files (including the hidden ones) to your PC and then copy them back to the new card. That way you also move your licenses to the new card which are stored in hidden files and your private data like keys. -
I'm trying to update my software to iTunes 10.5.2. I click on the install button, click the Accept button, the software checks for updates, and then I am back at the original download screen. I can't seem to get past this loop. Any suggestions?
If I go through the setup that you suggested, won't I screw up the existing software on my system?
No. The iTunes installer will first uninstall the existing version of iTunes and then put in the new one. (That's actually also what happens when you use Apple Software Update to install a new version ... it just doesn't show the uninstall phase like the iTunes64Setup.exe or iTunesSetup.exe does.) -

Problem with Cisco 861W router and outgoing VPN
We have a Cisco 861W router that is blocking an outgoing PPTP on the internal access point only. The outgoing VPN works when the traffic is through a wired connection or the connection is on another access point. We fail to make a connection only when connection to the 861W's internal Access Point.

Cisco Configuration Professional (Cisco CP) is installed on this device
and it provides the default username "cisco" for one-time use. If you have
already used the username "cisco" to login to the router and your IOS image
supports the "one-time" user option, then this username has already expired.
You will not be able to login to the router with this username after you exit
this session.
It is strongly suggested that you create a new username with a privilege level
of 15 using the following command.
username <myuser> privilege 15 secret 0 <mypassword>
Replace <myuser> and <mypassword> with the username and password you
want to use.
