  • Paging and Notification Features included with CUCM 9.1!

At last we have paging functionality using our own IP Phones on our UC systems. Starting with CUCM 9.1, Cisco has entered into an OEM agreement with longime developer partner Singlewire to include their well known InformaCast product with every CUCM install. All orders of CUCM will come with the Cisco Paging Server software DVD which has the InformaCast product and documentation on it. The DVD has an ISO file with OVA for installing in a virtual environment plus all documentation. You can quickly see how when running UC on UCS or a Business Edition 6000, you can create bundled packages of specific UC apps (1 VM per app) on a single server that is a perfect fit for specific verticals. This is going to be extremely helpful when targetting K-12 applications as well as hospitality, manufacturing, transportation and higher ed opportunities.
The way it works is that basic paging features are now free with every CUCM product. Basic paging consists of the ability to send point-to-point or group live audio pages to/from Cisco IP Phones. There are an unlimited number of groups/zones to be configured and a maximum of 50 users per paging group. So all users of a system can participate in a variety of paging groups but without upgrading to advanced, 50 users at a time is available. Paging across sites is also supported with a properly configured multicast WAN network.
But we aren't just providing the basic functionality with UCM, all advanced features from InformaCast will also be delivered and optional. Since these features are new to many customers, there is a 60 day trial of the advanced features to show customers what they have available to them and to determine if it is a good fit in their environment. Many applications require the high level functionality like that listed below, and the ability to claim these as being available with every UCM order as a single vendor solution is extremely powerful. No other competitor will have a UC product shipping with all of the advanced emergency notification and security awareness features like Cisco UC now has.
The advanced features are what will be a great sales conversation starter to set your Cisco UC system apart from the rest. Included with this are features like:
    Pre-recorded/scheduled broadcasts (school bells/shift changes)
    Notification to Jabber IM
    Notification to Social Media
Communication with mobile and remote users
Triggered notification to/from other systems- M2M input/output (panic buttons, door locks, lights, etc.)
Integration to existing overhead paging systems
Text and Audio to Cisco IP Phones and other endpoints
    Broadcasts to IP Speakers
    911/emergency call monitoring/alerting/recording
    Weather Alerting with CAP
    Dynamically-triggered emergency conference calls
    And more..
When trying to close a new UC deal, leveraging Cisco’s new paging and notification features can change the sales conversation to something that no one can match for a standard shipping, on-box solution. We can set the new standard that for all applications, mass awareness and security notification features are required with any UC solution. We will be able to respond to RFP’s where no other manufacturer can meet the single vendor/product requirement for voice and emergency notification together.
Many customers will be satisfied with paging through Cisco IP Phones but those looking for higher level security and awareness features, advanced notification is highly recommended. Those licenses can be obtained in 2 ways:
*Perpetual licenses from SolutionsPlus on Global Price List (SP-INFORMCST-2500=, SP-INFORMACST-1K=,SP-INFORMACST-250=)
*Annual Subscription liceses directly from Singlewire- [email protected]. Quoting Tool: http://www.singlewire.com/quote_gen/quote_form.php
For more info: [email protected] and http://www.singlewire.com/ic-learn.html

Great article, there is now a new range of cyberdata singlewire informacast enabled IP Intercoms. I found some here through this UK supplier. www.ipagingsystems.co.uk The Intercoms double as a paging ip speaker that accept SIP and Multicast.

  • Business Edition 6K Solution request

    8Hi, guys
I have a doubt related to a solution that I want to deploy
    Here is the scenario.
My company wants to offer services...communications services, and we are thinking a lot about the price of the equipments.
So, in order to avoid the clients to buy the entire solution, we are thinking about deploy a SINGLE solution on my office, and, as we have fiber connectivity to the customers, we would ONLY deploy at their end endpoints and PoE Switches (if needed).
So we are thinking about a single appliance and it is: Business Edition 6000 that is a single UCS where all communications are integrated.
Is this solution affordable for this issue??
How we can we sepate the traffic from distinct customers?
As BE6K comes with 1000 user licenses, is it possible to do somthing like this:
    From 1-100 my office
    From 101-500 customer A
    From 501-900 customer B
    From 901-1000 customer C
And, as configure partitions and CSS's in order to avoid that they (the customers) call each other and at the end, send to them only the Billing for EXTERNAL CALLS only.
    Any help on this?
    Regards
    Edson Vuma

Business Edition 6000 is a packaged solution that consists of the following foundational elements:
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager
    IM & Presence
    Cisco Unity® Connection
    Cisco Prime Provisioning
    Cisco UC Virtualization Hypervisor
    Cisco Unified Computing System C200 M2/C220 M3 Rack-mount server.
Following applications can be optionally added to Cisco Business Edition 6000 solution.
    Cisco Unified Contact Center Express
    Cisco Unified Attendant Consoles
    Cisco Emergency Responder
Cisco Telepresence Video Communication Server (Supported only with UCS C220 M3)
    Cisco Paging Server
So, as far you have mentioned should cover all your needs.

  • UC upgrade and Informacast migration

I am planning the upgrade of a UC implementation that includes integration with Informacast 8.5. The current version of  CUCM is 8.6.2 and the target will be 10.5.2. I have two questions:
Is there documentation for migrating/upgrading from Informacast Basic Paging v8.5 to Cisco Paging Server v9.1(1)? The reference material included with the  CPS 9.1(1) ISO file has instructions for a fresh install and to upgrade from Basic to Advanced but nothing on a Basic-to-Basic version upgrade/migration.
For planning purposes, should the paging server upgrade be performed before or after the upgrade of CUCM to v10.5.2?

    Hi Rob,
Informacast 9.1 is compatible with CUCM 8.5, 8.6, 9.0, 9.1, 9.12, 10.0, 10.5, and 10.5.2, so you should upgrade Informacast first. Regarding the upgrade of Informacast to 9.1 from 8.5.1 you will need to install one package file (CiscoPagingServer_9.1.1.deb), more details here

    Hi,
We have a Cisco 3845 router running CME, ephones and ephone-dn are configured, there is ephone-dn is configured for paging. The system and paging work fine. We want to give password for those who make announcement. There are currently more than 30 extensions but we only want to give paging access to three users. How can we do this?
    Thank you

Sure. Using the same (or similar) example:
    Extensions: 2XXX
    Primary Phone: 2025552000
We can address the need with the following:
    voice translation-rule 10
    rule 1 /^2...$/ /2025552000/
    voice translation-profile cme-to-itsp
    translate calling 10

  • Overhead Paging with Cisco Berbee InformaCast - Caller ID when paging

Hello, I'm using Cisco Berbee InformaCast with a Bogen overhead paging system. I have Call Manager 6.1.4 and would like to know if there is a way to broadcast the name/number of the IP Phone from which the page originated. If anyone knows of a means of achieving this I would greatly appreciate your assistance.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Well, not sure why I haven't received any suggestions from anyone. I find it
hard to believe that there isn't anyone else who has the same need. After going from TAC to SingleWire Support here's what I have:
there is a way to have InformaCast display within message text the extension that sent a page.  The only catch we were running into with your current implementation was ReliCast.  If you're using a ReliCast dial pattern to page, then all InformaCast would display is the ReliCast CTI port that "called" InformaCast to make the page. It was my hope that there was a way to have the source of that trigger displayed in the reporting feature of InformaCast 7.  Unfortunately InformaCast would produce the same Information.  It would see the calling device as the ReliCast CTI port and log/report that information.
A possible solution to this issue, a panic button.  You could setup one of the line appearance buttons on a users phone as an emergency live all page.  Then, we can just add a bit of "script" to it that would display the time, day, and source device that made the page.
For example, you can create a new page type using a combination of Text and Live Audio.  In the Short Text section of the message you could place the following:
"Panic Button Triggered at ${time} on ${date} by ext ${senderInfo.directoryNumbers}"

  • Valcom 2001A single zone paging system with a Cisco 2821 FXS port

I am new at troubleshooting the Valcom paging system with Cisco 2821 router.  I recently installed a Valcom 2001A that is connecting to FXS port on the Cisco router.  The paging works but the ringing does not stop when the page extension is dialed (you can talk over the ringing).  I was told to use the Valcom 9970 to work with the FXS port on my router.  Will the V9970 worth with the 2001A or in place of it?  Is there anything else I need to know to perfect this install?  Thank you!

Put the command 'forward-digits extra ,,,,01' on the outgoing POTS dial-peer. Each comma is one second of delay.

  • Cisco Callmanager 5.0 group paging

I see that Callmanager Express can be configured for group paging, what about the regular CAllManager?

CCM does not have this feature, you need to purchase third party tool such as Berbee Informacast or IPcelerate among others.

  • How do I set up a port on a SPA8000 to auto answer for a 2 way intercom/paging?

I have a customer with an analog pbx system now that I am changing over to a sip system. They have a few lines that need to still have analog connectivity so I am installing a Cisco/Linksys SPA8000. One of my issues is with a 2-way PA system between their main office and shop. They have a Viking Model HF-3W paging system presently that allows them to communicate both ways without having to pick up a phone at the shop. I need to set the SPA8000 to have one port auto answer for this paging system but I am not sure how.

See attached LV86 example. Open the properties dialog of the knob for more info about its configuration.

  • Use Call Manager to play media over a paging system.

We have a Bogen overhead paging system and would like to play some music from the Cisco system. It would be for playing Brahms Lullaby when a baby is born. We currently use the phone system to access the paging via a LS port on the back of our 2821 router. We use a PCM2000 w/zones for paging. Have you all ever had to setup anything like this?

One option would be to setup an on hold source with a .wav file of Brahm's Lullaby. You could then assign this MOH to a DN, call the paging system from the DN and press Hold. You could also set this up using an IPCC auto attendant script.
    Hope this helps.

  • Options for pre-recorded voice paging

What options are there for pre-recorded voice paging on Cisco Phone Systems.
We are running Cisco Unity Express 3.1 on a Cisco 2851 and I have a ATA186 that connects to a PA System that has an extension assigned to it.
So what I would like to do is select between 2 or three pre-recorded messages and play it over that extension.
I know Informacast will do it but that is a little expensive in my opinion for what I want to do.

Take a look at SynApps SA-Announce and Broadcast Manager: http://syn-apps.com
Both are great products, compatible with CME, and are typically cheaper than other options.

  • Cisco Telepresence and Meeting Place Integration with Third Party Call Pros

    Dear colleages:
i want to ask if Cisco Telepresence can integrate with 3rd party call processing systems.
as my project has already existing Nortel Communication Server 1000,
    which supports:
    Operating System: VXWorks and Linux
Network Signaling Protocols: H.323v4, MCDN, SIP, LDAP, QSig, QSS, in band and DPNSS
    Trunking Support:
IP:IP Virtual Trunks using IP Peer Networking over H.323 or SIP
    Digital: DTI, ISDN-PRI, ISDN-BRI
Analog: Loop and Ground Start CO, FX, WATS, two or four wire E&M, four wire DX, DID, TIE, RAN Paging.
and i want to build Video Converence system over the WAN.
please to tell me if that integration is possible and what is the design components that is required for such project to be handled from A- to Z.
    Regards,

I have been told that i need to use SIP protocol API instead of TAPI to have a TRUE VOIP Windows solution.
Could you guys please tell me the difference between SIP API and TAPI?
And could you please suggest a way which API (SPI or TAPI) the OnCast solution is based on (http://www.litescape.com/oncastsoftware.html) - we have to develop something similar.
    Thank you for your replies,
    Alexey

  • TAPI for Paging(Intercom) application or IP Services?

If I can, I would like to use TAPI to fill the following requirements:
1.) Perform a page (intercom call) to a group of phones
2.) Send text messages to a group of phones.
I would like to use TAPI as it 'fits' better with my devolopement environment (VC 6) and my experience (not experienced with web services).
Is it possible to perform BOTH of these operations via TAPI? If so, can someone point me in the direction of a sample or suggest 'how to do this'. Any help is appreciated.
I am on a tight schedule (not my fault). So any assistance is greatly appreciated.
    CM- 4.2(3), IP Phones- 7961G.

here's the appropriate tapi developer guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_programming_usage_guide_book09186a00806a73d8.html
I'm a JTAPI guy myself so I can't answer the TAPI questions - for JTAPI I'd say it's no and yes.. I know you can send text, I'm not sure you can page. Since features don't necessarily match, you'll have to consult the developer guide to make sure.
And in the developer services central (http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/dev_support/access_level/product_support) you'll find a few TAPI examples.
Wait a tick.. of course you can page. I have no idea about "regular" paging used on a normal phone system and if there's some built in functionality in Call Manager to do this as well.. but you can just push CiscoIPPhoneExecute Items with RTPMRx: and RTPMTx :commands (Tx to the one who wants to scream at people.. Rx to those who should listen) to the phones.. you don't even need CTI for this ... it's the same push mechanism and it also works via regular HTTP Post to all the phones you're trying to reach (naturally you'll have to look up their IP addresses via DeviceListX.asp) and resolve MAC addresses (= phone name = SEP.....) to phone numbers (AXL) so CTI has its bonuses in that department (speed, single authentication to the CCM versus authentication per phone, no need for AXL).

  • Is it possible to create a cisco config file based on a polycom config file?

    Hello,
We have 12 spa509g phones that are barely working with our provider (voxox).
My provider gave me the config files that are used to set up polycom phones as those are the only phones they support.
Features that currently work: incoming calls, outgoing calls, blind transfer, voicemail, call hold
Features that do not work: call presence - solid orange lights, attended transfer, paging
I've upgraded the firmware to 7.5.6 and configured the phone through the GUI as much as i can but I can't seem to enable the above features.
Any help would be highly appreciated as I'm about to buy polycom phones if we can't figure the configuration out.
Attached are the configuration files from voxox concerning polycom phones. confidential data says "removed"
If anyone thinks that this is possible, I can send a copy of my current cisco configuration file.
    Thanks,
    Philip

Well, I have no polycom phone, not I have personal experience with voxox. I wish the following document may help a lot - it describe Polycom configuration somewhat. As you have no Polycom, you have no current <mac>-directory.xml. So you don't know the device name you should subscribe to. But it seems to be a DID-number.
    Just try it.
On the other side, ask Voxox for help. Don't ask for configuration files, ask for configuration instructions expressed in terms of the SIP protocols. Consider switch to more friendly and technically skilled VoIP operator if they will not understand what the SIP stand for ...
By the way, wrong forum. Your issue has nothing to do with XML Phone Application interface. I'm not sure someone will respond you here.

  • Paging Third Party SIP Phones connected to CUCM

Current SetUp: CUCM - Cisco 3925, Two MCS 7816 (Call Control Server) and One MCS 7825 (Voice mail server)
We have third party SIP phones configured in auto answer mode. These phones are used to make live announcements.
    To Do:
There are approximately 80 phones in the system and the requirement is to select any combination of these phones to make Public announcement (or Paging).
Is there an application that enables us to select any combination of phones on the fly to do paging? How can we select a mp3 file to play on a phone in an auto answer mode?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sid

There's nothing built into call manager to do this.  You could investigate using the Cisco Unified Application Environment (CUAE) and write a script to do this, or there are some 3rd party applications that might work for you such as Berbee's Informacast.
