Cisco Prime 2.0 Classic Theme vs Lifecycle Theme view

Is the Livecycle Theme being retired?
This is a 2 part question.
In a course I just finished, it was mentioned that in the next release of CPI, the Lifecycle Theme view was being removed.
Is this correct?
Based on the comments from the course instructure, I did a comparison of the two themes.
What I discovered is that, in the Classic Theme view, I am unable to see any of the routers that I've created via the Lifecycle Theme.
I am, however, able to view the routers in reports that I created in the Classic Theme.  The data is there, it's just not being displayed.
Are there plans to correct this, or am I missing something?

Doug Moffat

Hi Doug,
From PI 2.2 onwards , Classic theme will be deprecated NOT  the LifeCycle theme.
Check the attached screen shot.
Hopefully you will see all the options under LifeCycle theme from 2.2 onwards
Thanks-
Afroz

  • Cisco Prime Unified Operations Manager 9.0, "Service Level View" problem.

    Hello to all.
Hope this mail finds all of you well.
    I have a problem with a CUOM Prime 9.0.
The customer's infrastracture is a cluster CUCM (VM), 9.1.2.
The CUCM cluster is up and running and all the cisco devices can be discovered.
The customer wants to use a Cisco Prime Unified Operations Manager 9.0 in order to monitor all the Cisco devices.
Also, in the CUOM server have been installed the browser "I.E 8.0" and the browser "Firefox Mozila" (Firefox Setup 10.0.5esr).
The problem that I faced is that the page "Service Level View" can not be displayed.
When I try to use the "Internet Explorer" the loading bar is being displayed, but can not be completed.
When I try to use the "Firefox Mozila" a message is being displayed and prompt me to install the last Flash Player,
    which is already installed.
Can anybody help me on that  problem?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards,
    Isidoros

Finally, the solution of the problem was:
1-stop the daemon manager “net stop crmdmgtd”
2- Delete the xml files available under(please take backup from them) :
    CSCOpx\objects\sir\work
    CSCOpx\objects\topo\work
3-Start the daemon manager  net start crmdmgtd  (wait for 20 minutes until all process are up )

  • Cisco Prime LMS MPLS monitoring

Hi all, have anyone used Cisco Prime LMS for MPLS xconnect monitoring?
Currently when these traps arrive to Cisco Prime LMS they are classified as "InformAlarm Unidentified Trap Generic".
Is it maybe possible to load the correct MIB for these traps and get Cisco Prime LMS to understand them correctly?
The raw traps looks like this:
    xconnect down:
    09:58:42.352760 IP (tos 0x40, ttl 245, id 12, offset 0, flags [none], proto: UDP (17), length: 114) routerhost.51591 > lmshost.snmptrap: [udp sum ok]  { SNMPv1 { Trap(71)  E:cisco.10.106.2 10.130.1.13 enterpriseSpecific s=1 424011509 E:cisco.10.106.1.2.1.26.2=2 E:cisco.10.106.1.2.1.26.2=2 } }
    xconnect up:
    09:59:48.597894 IP (tos 0x40, ttl 245, id 14, offset 0, flags [none], proto: UDP (17), length: 114) routerhost.51591 > lmshost.snmptrap: [udp sum ok]  { SNMPv1 { Trap(71)  E:cisco.10.106.2 10.130.1.13 enterpriseSpecific s=2 424018144 E:cisco.10.106.1.2.1.26.2=1 E:cisco.10.106.1.2.1.26.2=1 } }
I found some more info about the traps at:
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseMIB.do?local=en&step=2&mibName=CISCO-IETF-PW-MIB-V1SMI
    BR /Crille

    Here is an update:
After discussing with TAC there seems to be 2 possible solutions in LMS right now:
    1. Create a threshold that monitors the specific OID for the xconnect vc and generate alarm if it changes.
    2. Configure the device to send syslog when a xconnect state changes and create an "automated syslog action".
I have not tried either of them yet so I dont know which one works best, but option 2 seems easiest (its a one time config).

  • URGENT---cisco prime infrastructure 1.2. change default theme

    hello guys,
I wanted to ask you a question.
I have installed in my company the cisco prime infrastructure 1.2.
As you know, the lifecycle theme  has enough bugs, but these bugs are overtaken if we use the classic theme.
I have several users working with cisco prime infrastructure 1.2, and i was wondering if it is possible to define classic theme as default for all people.
    thnks

I would think if they logged in they can change their own preference. You only can change it from the account you logged in as.

  • Cisco Prime - Can I ping sweep devices to wake them up before the devices are acquired in User Tracking

I have some devices on my network (printers and security cameras) that go to sleep and do not show up in the ARP table under I ping them.  Is there any way in Cisco Prime (before User tracking is acquired) to do some sort of ping sweep?  If I do not "wake up" these devices in some way, then they do not show up in User Tracking.

Just set up the connection and it should not effect your connection to your pc

  • Cisco Prime 2.0 to conduct a Predictive Survey

I´m looking for where are made the "Planning Mode" to conduct a predictive site survey in Cisco Prime 2.0  but I can´t find. I´ve already read a lot of documents but I was just more confuse.
I knew that in previous versions you could enter in "Planning Mode".
Someone know where is this inside the Prime 2.0 ?

If your familiar with WCS or NCS, then change the theme from lifecycle to classic mode. You can change this by clicking on the top right in the GUI by the login name:
Prime Infrastructure provides two different graphical user interfaces (from which you can switch back and forth by clicking the downward arrow next to your login name):
Then you can follow this guide.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 and Aironet 1250 + VSS issues

    Hi,
I  am new to the NCS implementations and configurations. I have one very  specific case with Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 and autonomnous APs  and several issues with Cisco VSS on 6500 switches.
So here is the version from Prime:

Well  the issue what we have now is that access point has been added but its  not recognized by the NCS prime. I have tried all three versions of SNMP  but I get the same result. The SNMP configuration is valid since I use  the same for my switching infrastructure. When I enter "debug snmp packets" and "terminal monitor" I can see the SNMP communication between Prime and Aironet 1250 which is standalone.
When  I switch to Lifecycle theme and go to Operate > Device Monitor  Center I see all devices I have added. The Aironet 1250 is reachable but  under collection status I get Managed with Warnings. When I hover over  with my mouse I get "None available".
I  have successfully added my switching infrastructure in total, which is  operating perfectly for Catalyst 2960/3650/3750/4500 series but for 6500  under VSS I have some warnings. The device is recognized by the system  which is excellent and all is operational. I get the following errors  under Collection Status:
    feature_sensor
    SNMP request timed out
    feature_powerSupplyFanStatus-6k
    SNMP request timed out
    IdentityCapability
    The device is unreachable.
    feature_flashdevice
    SNMP request timed out
    sam_ipsla_feature
    The device is unreachable.
What can be done to resolve these issues ? I have attached a screenshot of this particular issue. The affected access point is 172.16.165.241.

    Hi rajeeshp,
Currently I am not allowed to upgrade it because of internal procedures involved in upgrading a specific piece of software (obtaining permissions from various departments). Is it free to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 or there is a specific charge for that.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 - can we load PI2.2 on UCS-E140S-M2/K9 -

I am busy with an iWAN design and part of the solution is to have Cisco Prime deployed as a management tool.
The customer does not have VM and do not want an appliance.
The design caters for the new ISR4400 series routers.
We can add a UCS-E single wide server to the Core Router - UCS-E140S-M2/K9- can I load PI2.2?
The site will have 45 routers, 10 AP's - so will go with 50 lifecycle and assurance licences

I'm afraid this is supported officially. There are only two options :
    > Installing as a virtual appliance - on an ESXi server.
    > Using Cisco Physical Appliance
Installing directly on another hardware, be it UCS or other physical boxes is not supported. I am not sure if anyone would have tried to install and if there is a procedure to do so.
I can you want to try to burn the image as iso on DVD and install on your UCS box, it may have support issues from TAC whenever you'll reach out.
    -Thanks

  • WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade

    Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
    1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0  version
    2. Export WCS database
    3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
    4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
    5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
    6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
    7. Patch NCS software
    8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
    9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
    1. Export LMS 3.2 database
    2. Install LMS 4.2 software
    3. Install license to LMS 4.2
    4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
    5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
    6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2  and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?
    Regards,
    Jelena

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?
    Thank you for your help.

You'd get a lot more views for this question on the Network Management forum.
In any case, PI 1.2 (2.0 is the curent version) is the product Cisco is positioning for wireless (successor to WCS and NCS) and wired (successor to LMS) infrastructure management. However it hasn't yet reached feature parity with LMS so they are including licenses for customers to continue to use both if they so desire. The products are mutually exclusive and must be run on separate servers.
Please refer to the following pages for more info:
Whitepapers including PI-LMS functional comparison and PI Deployment Guide
LMS Design Guide (title says Prime Infrastructure but it's actually LMS)

Also search youtube for Cisco Prime. There is a series of VODs the product team did on use cases.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Express, licensing

Are there any funcionatility limitation between each edition of the Cisco Prime Infrastructure other than supported number of devices?
Does it support turning APs on and off on a predefined scheduled?
I read in the manual "Cisco Prime Infrastructure Classic View Configuration Guide for Wireless Devices" that it is possible to Managing WLAN Status Schedules.  Does it require the assurance license feature set or will lifecycle license will be sufficient?

I believe you could create a scheduled Lightweight AP Configuration Template job and have it simply turn off the radios on the selected APs. Make it recurring (every night at a certain time) and add a complementary recurring job to turn the radios back on at the desired time.

  • Upgradding Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0

    Hello,
A customer currently have 2,500 Cisco Prime Infrastructure Lifecycle device license using Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x. the customer wants to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0.
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade to version 2.0 without additional cost? the licenses from
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 has to be upgraded or we need only to rehost the VUDI.
Also could be possible to upgrade LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0?
    thanks!

The two features you mention are two big missing ones. Another is full syslog capability. I don't believe CiscoView or day one support via package updates is included either.
Another is less tangible - the depth of experience and documentation available for LMS vs. Prime Infrastructure (particularly the wired management features). I agree for wireless PI 2.0 looks good. Some new features are coming for wired that look promising but they are new as of PI 2.0 so I'm taking a wait and see on them.
I hope to get 2.0 up in my lab in the next week or so and will hope to be pleasantly surprised but that's seldom the case with a major new release.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1

    Hi Team,
     I have a doubt for version PI-1.1.
PI 1.1 is installed on the VMware i.e. on the virtual platform
The customer has bought the following:
    R-PI-1.1-K9 ------Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1
    R-PI-1.1-100-K9-----Prime Infrastructure 1.1 Software - 100 Device Base Lic
L-PILMS42-100------------- Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 100 Device Base Lic
L-PINCS11-100------------- Prime Infrastructure NCS 1.1 - 100 Device Base Lic
L-PINCSW11-100---------- Prime Infrastructure NCS WAN 1.1 - 100 Device Base Lic
As it is the 1.1 there is no lifecycle and assurance licenses.
Currently L-PINCS11-100 is installed on the server.
    How do I install L-PINCSW11-100 and L-PILMS42-100.
Can this both licenses be installed on the same server or do they need additional server.
    Thanks in advance..

If you install PI 1.1 you need a base licence. You must have a single base license to run the software. The base license here is R-PI-1.1-K9.
After this you need a Device license which decides how many devices you can manage on your application. Here Device Base License is R-PI-1.1-100-K9 which is Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1 Software - 100 Device Base License.
So to run your Cisco Prime Infra 1.1 you need only these two licenses (more if you want to manage more that 100 device - using add-on license).
You can check CPI 1.1 License guide here.
    So server 1 = CPI 1.1 :
    R-PI-1.1-K9 ------Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1
    R-PI-1.1-100-K9-----Prime Infrastructure 1.1 Software - 100 Device Base Lic
Other Server's, if you want these applications:
    1 for = NCS Application/software (L-PINCS11-100)
    1 for Ciscoworks LMS application/software (L-PINCSW11-100)
    -Thanks

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 and Cisco ASA

    Hello,
We've recently installed trial version of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Express. We hoped that it already supports Cisco ASA 55xx series (especially 5505, we have pretty amount of them). But we had some problems with PI and asa durind the exploitation process.
First, I've added ASA to PI, and Inventory Collection Status is Completed, but I can't see CPU and RAM utilization graphs. Inventory.logs are non-informative.
Also, config backup is success, but when I try to watch the backuped configuration at Configuration Archive PI says "Failed to fetch raw configuration". And so on.
ASA version is 5505, image is 9.1(2).
So, I have a question: is it possible to manage ASAs with PI 2.0?
UPD: I've just tried to upgrade asa to 9.1(4), and behavior of the equipment is quite the same. Seems we shall wait for 9.2 to be released.

Have you downloaded and applied the latest Device Pack updates?
PI enhanced ASA support after the initial 2.0 release and the Device Packs incorporate that change.
The README file for Device Packs explains how to install them. (A bug currently does not allow the direct download in PI so you need to follow the method for installation from local storage after you manually download. Here is a link to the download location.

  • Cisco Prime NCS 1.3 Licensing issue

    Hello,
I am installing Cisco prime NCS x 2 servers. I downloaded the licenses which are ordered allong with the devices as follows.
    Product Name                : L-PI12-LF-50-LIC
        Product Description         : L-PI12-LF-50-LIC:Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 50 Device Lic PAK
        Product Qty                 : 1
        UDI                        : PID: PRIME-NCS-APL-K9
The issue is, the NCS appliance was not started properly and then I used the CD which came along with the server (NCS 1.3). Now my system is up and running but it is NCS 1.3 and when i upload the licenses, it shows that the UID is not matching with the system. Is this because the licenses are issued for NCS 1.2 and my system runs on 1.3? If so, what do you suggest, do i need to download NCS 1.2, install it, add the license and then upgrade to 1.3?
    Thanks for your advise,
    Regards
    Jay
