Cisco Prime for Wireless presentation

Hi all,
Does anyone have a power point slide for Cisco Prime in wireless? It would be great if i had something official to present.
TIA,
Nicos Nicolaides

There  is a pretty comprehensive presentation on ciscloive365.com (free registration required). Have a look at session BRKEWN-2011 - Managing an Enterprise WLAN with Cisco Prime Infrastructure (2013 Orlando)

  • Want to use ipad for wireless presentations

want to use ipad2 for wirelee presentation on a 16:9 screen but if using apple tv the icon screen does not stretch to fill while video still fills the screen. can i get both to fill the screen? Or is there a way of using a 2nd ipad as a mirror and cable connecting it ?

I just downloaded Pocket Light Meter.  After I turn on the additional settings, I can see foot candles , however when I compare it to my actual light meter to check the validity of the Pocket Light Meter, they are way off.    Any idea how to calibrate it or to check if possibly I am doing something wrong??

  • I would like to use my iPad for wireless presentations, how is this done.

I am interested in using my iPad for public presentations. I am sure that the bluetooth has this ability. how does one go about it?

Bluetooth does not have that capability, WiFi does.

  • Cisco ACL for Wireless VLAN's

Hi all and Merry Christmas to you.
So I have been off work for a few days now playing in my lab, I have configured a number of VLAN’s to separate Data, Voice, Servers, Games Consoles and Guest on my Cisco 1142, I know it may be a bit of an over kill but it’s just me doing a bit of lab work and learning
What I’m after doing now is setting up ACL’s to deny the Guest and Games Console VLAN from accessing my LAN and I’m not sure where to start, I want to consoles only to be able to connect to PSN and Xbox networks as well as my DHCP server, and the guest network to connect to the web but again not my LAN, this is for users who come round with phones and tablets.
    My lab look like this:-
    Broadband > Cisco RVS4000 (soon to be ASA) > WS-C3560 > 1142 AP.
My DHCP server is on VLAN 6 with an IP address of 192.168.6.241
    VLANs are: -

  • When is Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 released, and what does 2.0 offer?

We are running Prime Infrastructure 1.3 primarily for wireless management at this point.  We have enough licenses to add all our switches, routers, and firewalls, but we're hesitant to do so until 2.0 comes out.  While there are some features for backing up and configuring switches and routers, 1.3 still seems pretty limited in regards to non-wireless features.  For example, nearly every report in 1.3 is for wireless controllers or AP's, there are no reports I've found relevent for switches and routers.  I've read a lot of blogs, cisco posts, and white papers talking about how Cisco Prime Infrastrucure 2.0 will finally consolidate Prime into a truly all-in-one network management suite that can manage the entire Cisco environment.  Does anyone know when it's officially being released?  Does anyone have an tech sheets on what's new in 2.0, or what its capabilities are?  I want to better understand what 2.0 has to offer, when it's coming out, how to upgrade, so I can start planning for the upgrade and eventually importing all our network devices to Cisco Prime for centralized management.  Any useful information or links would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Christian

PI 2.0 is in Beta mode for testing in closed group already. However it may still take some time to get released on CCO for FCS.
I think it is expected to be released between aug-sep. BU has also started working on CPI 2.1, which you can see test uploads on CCO.
For what does it have for customers?
    > As Cisco have a vision of one network Management software for both wired and wireless infrastructure, which started getting real partially with Cisco PI.
As WCS got evolved to NCS and eventually to Cisco Prime Infrastructure, but it doesnt yet have full Management capability for wired infra., which is there with LMS.
With CPI 2.x Cisco plans to blend entire LMS and WCS features together.
    -Thanks

  • Choosing Correct Cisco Prime Version

    Hi team,
First of all congrats about the forum, its doing a great job!
I want to ask some things regarding Cisco Prime. We want to implement Cisco Prime for our wireless infrastructure and we are thinking of purchasing new controllers. The new controllers will be 5508 and the s/w version will most probably be 7.5 (and newer).
I have seen that there are various versions that are now available. Which one do i choose? 1.2? 1.3? 2.0?
Is there a comparison table somewhere?
    Regards,
    Nicos

    Hello Nicos,
I am sure this forum's success is an outcome of each individual contributor in all levels. More than the complement it is a statement for all!
For CIsco Prime Infrastructure, Recent CPI 1.4 is the one which intended for customers using s/w version 7.5 or later.
We usually advise to be on latest version of CPI as it usually brings a lot of bug fixes and enhancement to features. if you are still deciding on what version to choose from, its worth waiting for CPI 2.0 to be released.
It is expected to bring a lot of new major features and most future proof CPI version.
For any comparison sheet, I apologise I dont have one, and I'll look forward to other community members to share if anyone has.

  • Cisco Prime network and cisco prime infrastructure

    Hi,
What is the difference between Cisco Prime Network and Cisco Prime infrastructure.
    Please advice.

I assume you are asking about Cisco Prime LAN Management System (LMS) vs. Cisco Prime Infrastructure (PI).
LMS is currently the leading Cisco offering for wired infrastructure management. It is the evolution of the earlier CiscoWorks LMS, CiscoWorks RWAN CiscoWorks 2000, CWSI, VLAN Director, original CiscoWorks classic etc. products going back almost 20 years.
PI is the equivalent Cisco offering for wireless LANs and is the successor to NCS and WCS products.
The overlap and confusion comes from the fact the Cisco is positioning PI as the overall wireless and wired management platform and gradually introducing wired network management features to make it equal (and eventually exceed) LMS's capabilities.
There is a comparison table here that shows the current differences. A major new release of PI (2.0) is due out shortly which will close many (but not all) of the gaps on that table.

  • Cisco Prime Infra 2.1 fails to import an image from file

We have a standard Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 install. The software repository has been built up by importing the IOS images from the discovered network devices. To implement netflow capabilities on some 3750X switches we need to upgrade the IOS on the chassis and the NM card C3KX-SM10G. I was able to download from Cisco Support the 3750X IOS .tar file and import it from my machines local file system. However, the modules tar file c3kx-sm10g-tar.150-2.SE6.tar fails on the upload from my local file system. When I look at the import rob results they are as follows:
      Image collection from source     SUCCESS
Copying Image to Staging Location     SUCCESS
      Copying Image to Repository     FAILURE
I've tried to import just the .bin file but this also fails at the same stage as above.
I've also tried to scp the file directly into the backend file structure with no success into the folder /opt/CSCOlumos/conf/ifm/swim/jobs with the other images (oddly noticed the above .tar file for the 3750X isn't listed with the other .bin files - although is available through the webGUI).
I need to distribute the NM .tar file across multiple switches and I'd prefer to use Cisco Prime for the job. Any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks.

I had (still have?) the same problem with it not copying the image over. I put in a ticket and they told me to upgrade to Prime Infrastructure 2.1-Device Pack 4  pi_2.1device_packs_4-40.ubf which helped but it still fails sometimes.
I had read a post from another thread about going through software image management to distribute and that seems to work a little better, but still fails sometimes.
So I think that there are still quite a few issues in Prime that need worked out.
We have over many switches that need software upgrades and I was hoping to do it quickly through Prime but I don't want to send out more then one image at a time to switch because I don't want it to fail. So it's a drawback right now, just doing one at a time to make sure it takes.

  • Cisco Prime - non Cisco devices

    Hi
We have started using Cisco Prime for our network management. On our sites we have a few devices managed by other vendors which are non cisco devices, we would like to keep these in the diagrams on cisco prime but since we don't manage them we don't want them to use up our licenses.
Is there a way to retain the device info maybe as a note or something on the side of the diagram without the device using up a seat in the license?

Which Prime? LMS or Infrastructure? ..or one of the others.
LMS for example doesn't ever display a non-Cisco device in the Topology view. It does limited management of non-Cisco devices and they do not consume device licenses.

  • Cisco Prime Infra 2.1 for Wireless and Wired Management

    Hi All,
I've two CPI 2.1 physical appliances running in HA mode. Currently they are used to manage Wireless infrastructure.
Now, we are planning to buy licenses and add wired devices to CPI.
We've two separate teams. Team-A manages Wireless only and Team-B manages Wired infrastructure.
Both teams want their own Admin accounts to access CPI and they don't want to use shared credentials. If Team-A logsin with their Admin Account, they should see Cisco Prime Infrastructure dashboard and if Team-B logs in with their own Admin Account, they should see CiscoWorks LMS Dashbaord.
How can we achieve this? I can create user accounts and provide access to the CPI, but I'm not sure how to specify which dahsboard they will get access to.
    Thanks,
    CJ

You should consider merging team doing wired & wireless, it is difficult to manage these individually.
By any chance if you deploy 3850/3650, it is both WLC & Switch, so managing by two different teams does not make sense.

  • User Name and Password for Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Hi all:
I am stuck at the login page of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1.
I have tried using the user name root and its password (when log in with root at Vsphere Client) and also the login user name "before" get into the appliance infrastructure, all cannot work.
Anybody knows what is the default username or password or any way to set the username and password for this Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 website?
    Thanks!
    tangsuan

    Hi Tangsuan,
Following is the documented procedure for password recovery..
In order to modify the GUI root user password, you will need to login to the NCS CLI
as an admin user, and enter the command
"ncs password root password <new password>" (without the quotes)
This should set the web interface root user password :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/ncs/1.1/configuration/guide/manag.html#wp1268889
If you have lost your CLI password , try the default logging that is  ,
CLI user is admin and not root, so please try logging in as admin with
the password that was set during setup. If that does not work , you need
the install disk that came with the appliance to recover that password.
    Follow these steps:
    Recovering a Lost Admin Password
If you lose or forget the admin password for NCS appliance, follow these steps.
Step 1 Reboot the NCS appliance with the ISO DVD inserted. The Cisco Prime Network Control
    System Welcome screen appears:

  • Using ACS for Cisco Prime authentication

I'd like to use our Tacacs server running ACS to be the authentication method for user accounts in Prime, but don't even know where to start with this..
    Any pointers?

The configuration on the Prime Infrastructure side is minimal:  define the authentication server Prime is to use and select a mode for Prime Infrastructure to use with it.
Administration > AAA > TACACS+ Servers > add tacacs server.
Administration > AAA > AAA Mode Settings > tacacs+ and enable fallback to local.
The bulk of the configuration is on the authentication server side, particularly indefining groups, services and authorization tasks.  This is covered in the "Performing Administrative Tasks" chapter of the Prime Infrastructure Configuration Guide, starting with the topic "Configuring ACS 5.x"
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/prime_infrastructure/1.3/configuration/guide/admin.html#wp1595935

In case it doesn't work, please get the logs from the ACS reports and monirtoring for tacacs authentication and error message while accessing cisco prime.

  • Does Cisco Prime have support for HP Access Points?

I am trying to sell a solution to a client with dozens of large warehouses with a large existing HP wireless solution.  I want to sell them on a Cisco wireless solution involving Prime to manage/monitor their current HP Access Points while we do a phased replacement to Cisco WLC and APs.
I cannot find listed in the documentation whether Cisco Prime has support for the HP access points though.  I see it has 'some' support listed for some Aruba controllers, but not anything else.
