Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 - no traps/info are pushed from devices
Good evening,
I have setup Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 and, though I have added manually my 4 network cores as devices without any problem, I can't get a single trap or a single SNMP information to be pushed into my Cisco Prime Infra.
Here is my SNMP config on my core :

Hi Jeremy,
SNMP traps are shown in the events and alerts section of PI.
SNMP config looks fine. Can you run the SNMP debug (debug snmp packets ) .check the logs and see if the device is actually sending the TRAPS to the PI server.

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.4 SNMP Traps are not converted into Alarms
Hi everybody,
I just configured SNMP Traps on a Cisco Catalyst 3750-x to send to our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.4 Appliance.
Now I forced the Switch to send some traps (Power off a Power Supply, Interface errdisable). The only events I see in Alarms & Events on PI is the same information message everytime:
Configuration management event has been recorded in ccmHistoryEventTable.
I think the forced traps should be converted into alarms? Why can't I see them?
Thanks,
MarcOk, I started debugging as you said. I get the following output:
Mar 13 09:28:13.711: SNMP: V2 Trap, reqid 11689, errstat 0, erridx 0
sysUpTime.0 = 198609846
snmpTrapOID.0 = ciscoSyslogMIB.2.0.1
clogHistoryEntry.2.1688 = PM
clogHistoryEntry.3.1688 = 5
clogHistoryEntry.4.1688 = ERR_RECOVER
clogHistoryEntry.5.1688 = Attempting to recover from bpduguard err-disable state on Gi1/0/13
clogHistoryEntry.6.1688 = 198609844
Mar 13 09:28:13.737: SNMP: Queuing packet to xx.xx.xx.xx
Looks like the Switch is sending SNMP Traps from the ciscoSyslogMIB. Is this why PI can't show the Traps and convert it into a alarm?
After this test I configured logging (syslog) to the PI. Now the errors are showed but still not converted into alarms. I just want to be notified by email when such errors occurs.
Thanks,

Cisco prime infrastructure 2.2
Hello Team,
I did like to know how i can create a baseline template using Cisco prime infrastructure 2.2 in order to compare configuration of devices.
Also I would like to inquire how I can generate a CLI template and view the CLI template before applying/deploying it to a particular device or devices.
Best Regards,
TioluwaniHaving just started with Prime not that long ago, I'm afraid I can't help with your first question. However, for your second question:
Go to Configuration > Templates > Features and Technologies
Along the left menu, expand CLI Templates and click on CLI
This will bring up a new, blank CLI template to the right of the menu
Just fill out the info at the top section, and input your CLI/Velocity code in the bottom section
Once you have the code like you want it, click the "Save as New Template" button at the bottom
A window will pop-up asking where you want to save it within the "My Templates" folder
Once you've selected a location, click the Save button
Your window will automatically refresh to show the newly created custom CLI template - you will now have the option to edit your template as needed, or deploy it as-is to PI devices.
To deploy the template, select the Deploy button along the bottom
A new window will pop up that allows you to prepare and schedule the template. Select the device or devices you wish to deploy to. The devices you have available to deploy to will be based on the Validation Criteria you entered when creating the template.
If you opted to use the awesome variables available to CLI templates, you can either enter those for all selected devices in the Value Assignment section, or you can fill out the variables on a per-device basis. You will skip this section if you did not define any variables. If you did use variables, you must click the Apply button at the bottom of this section after you fill in the variables, or you will receive the following error:Mandatory fields are not entered for some devices or you have not saved your changes. To save the changes, click on Apply.
In the Schedule section, you can select when the template is deployed - "Now" is the default.
Finally, the Job Option section allows you to select how Prime handles a deployment failure, whether you want Prime to save the config to startup after the deployment, and whether you want to initiate a config archive after the deployment. -

Hi,
I have a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 deployment with Catalyst 2960S switches. Switches are running IOS 15.0(2) SE2. All switches have SNMPv2 configured, and all appears to be fine. I'm migrating one switch to SNMPv3, and PI have reachability to the switch, but PI doesn´t receive traps from the switch, and neither poll CPU and memory information (all displays 0.00%).
Somebody have a sample configuration of SNMPv3 with Cisco Prime (Infrastructure or LMS)? I cannot find a Cisco official (or unofficial) document related to this version, usually all mention SNMPv2.
Thank you.
EduardoHi Eduardo:
SNMPv3 is indeed supported for general administration. There's a bug with SWIM using SNMPv3 (CSCud92758), but you should be fine for just monitoring. Have you deleted the switch, waited until Prime Infrastructure told you it was gone, then readded it as SNMPv3 natively? Bug CSCug78869 keeps things from working well when changing SNMP versions.
If you don't have the new Update-1 patch for Prime Infrastructure 1.3.0.20 installed (filename PI_1.3.0.20_Update_1-12.tar.gz) installed, I'd suggest you get it. While it's not going to specifically address this issue, there are a lot of really good fixes in it.

Monitoring ASA in Cisco Prime infrastructure 2.2
Hi everybody. I have some issue with cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2. We use this product in our network for monitoring network devices and I need to monitor also our ASA 5550 device with soft 8.4. I added ASA to Cisco PI but see only basic component like my device can reachable via and read via snmp. But cannot see CPU, RAM, Device ENV like Temperature, l2l vpn connection, Interfaces status and Utilization that interfaces, cannot see sub interface that placed on ASA like that g0/0.20. I need fully monitor ASA and See logs and trap for my device:
CPU RAM ENV (Temperature), Interface and sub interface status, L2L VPN Status.
1 Cisco Prime infrastructure can full support ASA for monitoring and logging.. IF YES how can i configure that features in Cisco PI 2.2 for ASA
2 IF not which product Can full support that features for full monitoring and logging ASA devices
I have a little deadline for finishing
thanks everybody beforeI've not success monitoring ASA interface utilization either. I'm using PI 2.2 with device update #1. The ASA is a 5585-X with 9.2(3) software.
I have deployed the PI monitoring template to the ASA and do see its overall status and PI has enumerated the interfaces in the device page.
I even looked at a packet capture and see PI querying the values of the interface counters and those values being sent back to PI - yet I cannot select any ASA interface when drilling down under Performance Detail monitoring.
When I get some free time I will open a TAC case on it, meanwhile I am getting all the info I need from the upstream and downstream switches. -
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 - Third Party NetFlow
Hi,
is it possible to collect on the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 NetFlows from Third Party Devices, like a SonicWALL Firewall?
I mean it is possible to poll SNMP informations from a third party device, so maybe it is also possible to get the NetFlow from this Device?
Best Regards,
Sven K.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad AppHi Sven,
As per my understanding for 3rd party Only below thing are supported:
The following support level is available with Prime Infrastructure :
• Auto Discovery of a 3rd party Device
• Basic Inventory collection
• Basic lifecycle management of 3rd party device
• Ability to show traps and syslog for 3rd party devices
• Device reachability status polling
• Ability to load new MIBs & to create new monitoring templates
• For both Cisco and any SNMP device
More info is available in the link given below:

UPS monitoring support with Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2
Dear Members,
Good day,
I am having a project implemented wherein i have the UPS power redudancy solution for our network devices.
Now can anyone gide that is it possible for below :-
UPS units installed with SNMP cards be monitored via Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 as our monitoring & management solution is Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 ?
if yes
Can you guide if following action would be possible to export the below logs from UPS unit to our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2
a) UPS fault status information
b) UPS operational status(input power available Y/N)
c) Battery fault status
d) Battery charging current
e) Battery charge level
f) Output current
Conclusion is we need to confirm that would it be posible to achieve remote monitoring of these UPS units via our CPI 1.2
Thanks in Advance for your support & replies to this query.
Regards,
Muzammil N.Prime Infrastructure 1.2 can manage non-Cisco devices in a limited fashion via SNMP query and trap processing. It cannot import logs and does not have a generic syslog server,
So if your devices have snmp read only support and can generate SNMP traps for the above you can add them to PI. Follow the manual add device procedure here. -
Cisco Prime Infrastructure MESH LINK ISSUE
Hi,
a Customer of us has a trouble with cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2.0.12 and AP mesh link.
There is an huge database ( i suppose the issue can be here ) and when we display some map ( each floor has about 6 RAP and 24 MAP ) we cannot see the MESH information and link draw.
The only way to dipley them is to disable "refresh from network": this way I'm able to show these link..... until a click before.
What i noticied when all was working fine, after i click to some floor:
1) the software started to show the map with normal color and no mesh info displayed ( just ap and coverage cloud )
2) after few time ( less than 1 second ) the map was becoming a little bit lighter and the mesh info was merged to the map
We are missini the second step
Anyone had the same issue ?
best regards
Luigi
PS: I opened a case with WCS version 6.0 ( same issue ) but, after some months, no risult. The last version working fine was WCS 5.2Just to add some more informations:
- disabling "refreshj from network" ( building properties ) the link and mesh info are showed
- while I'm on a floor, after some refresh, i loose the mesh link draw and, if i click on an AP, i loose also mesh info in the popup. It' s like, after some refresh, the AP are no more recognized as Mesh ( !?!? )

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Express OVA failing to boot up
Hi all, i'm wondering if you can help me, i'm trying to deploy Cisco Prime Infrastructure in a lab envrionment but it's not working correctly.
I've deployed "PI-VA-2.1.0.0.87-Express.ova" to a VMware ESXI 5.1U2 hypervisor with 2x AMD 8128HE CPUs, 96GB RAM, ASUS KGPE-D16 motherboard. The installation works fine, I can answer all the questions and enter the IP address. Once the system reboots, it hangs at the following screen:
"Kernel direct mapping tables up to 340000000 @ 10000-1c000" is the last thing I see
Interestingly at this point I can actually ping the VM... I cant connect to the managemnet console on HTTPS though :(
I did find some related info on a blog https://deekayen.net/kernel-alive-lock which mentions booting with "noapic", however when I try to press "P" on the grub boot loader it prompts me to enter a password which I dont know! My normal admin passwords arent working.
Any help to ge tthis running would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
BenThe server takes about 30 mins to boot up, it's not actually broken it's just extremely slow .. I have found numerous people reporting this issue online, and our production system also does this! I guess my original problem is solved, although I would prefer this issue not to exist!

WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade
Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0 version
2. Export WCS database
3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
7. Patch NCS software
8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
1. Export LMS 3.2 database
2. Install LMS 4.2 software
3. Install license to LMS 4.2
4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2 and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?
Regards,

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?
Thank you for your help.

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Error
Hi,
I don't have any experience with Cisco Prime infrastructure. I am getting the below error
Unable to start secondary NCS server PRLPrimeNCS02 [10.140.xx.xx]
Reason: IO Error: could not resolve the connect identifier "wcss1"
Not sure exactly what the error means. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
NachiHi Scott,
Thank you for your email.
The HA is runing on the Cisco Prime. Runing Cisco Prime on a Virtual machine in VM.
The issue we are experiencing is that the system failed over to the secondary (HA) for unknown reasons. When we failed it back it didn’t fail back properly. Configured Manual failover. Managed to failback to primary but it complained HA was no longer configured.
Tried to remove HA and reconfigure it. The primary removed the HA configuration, but the secondary kept it. Here is some info on the secondary
PRLPrimeNCS02/admin# ncs ha status
[Server] prlprimencs01(10.xx.xx.xxx) [State] Secondary Lost Primary [Failover Type] manual
PRLPrimeNCS02/admin# ncs ha remove
High availability configuration will be removed

Removing secondary configuration will remove all database information

Including Interface Description in Cisco PRime Infrastructure Alarm Message
Hi all,
i succesfully configured a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 applliance to display an alarm and to send me an e-mail when switch uplink ports goes down.
The text displayed in alarm message is :
port 'interface_id' is down on device 'device_ip_address'
I'd like to include in this text also the interface description so the text will display :
port 'interface_id' 'interface_descriprion' is down on device 'device_ip_address'
Is this possible?
Thankyou in advanceHi,
i followed these steps :
SWITCH SIDE
- configured Prime Infrastructure as snmp-server host;
- enabled snmp-traps for linkup and linkdown events globally;
- disabled snmp-traps for linkup and linkdown on non relevant interfaces using the no snmp trap link-status command
PRIME INFRASTRUCTURE SIDE
- under "Deploy/Monitor Deployment" i deployed template "Interface Health" for all the interested switches
- under "Administration/System Settings/Mail Server Configuration" configured my internal SMTP server to make Prime Infrastructure able to send e-mails
- under "Operate/Alarms & Events" click on "Email Notifications" , then on "Switches and Hubs"
- check the "critical" box , insert the destination e-mail address into the "To" field then click "Save"
- check the "switches and Hubs" box and then click Save
As i know is possible to avoid to configure every single not-interesting port on the switches with "no snmp trap link-status" command (it's a bit annoying when you have tens of switches), using Port Grouping configuration on PI but i tried it without success.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards, -
Consultations on Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2
I recently installed Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 and I have 2 questions regarding configuration:
1. What configurations should run for vulnerability when some event occurs on a switch an alarm is lifted in the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2?
2. Is there any way to put a device into maintenance mode in the web interface of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2, so that can not be spoiled reports regarding equipment availability during the execution of maintenance?1. If you configure PI as an SNMP and syslog server for your devices and have enabled logging traps etc., PI's alarm browser will show the alarms. If you want them to be sent to you via email, you can do that under the Admin menu for setting up your Mail server and clicking the link to "Configure email notification for individual alarm categories." (see below - open in new tab to zoom). It's not completely customizable but what you see there is the current product capabilities in that regard.
2. No, this is not currently an available feature in PI 2.2.

Availability of Inspire P580 PSU in the US?
Hi, I'll shortly be moving from the UK to the US, and I own a UK-bought Inspire P580 5.1 speaker set. Due to the voltage difference (220/240V vs 110/120V) I'd need a new, US-sourced 110V PSU in order to use the speakers in the US. Is it possible to b
