Cisco Prime Intrastructure 2.0 boot loop issue?

Hi!!! I have a question.
I have a server Cisco UCSC-C220-M3L: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2665; 32Gb RAM; 1x LFF HDD 1 TB: LSI embedded sw MegaRaid controller. HDD is configured in RAID 0.
I have installed CPI 2.0 Express OVA on my ESXi host version 5.5 and went through the install process 100%, but upon reboot after install it is stuck at the loop booting Cisco ADE-OS 2.0 and so the cycle with a reboot of the virtual machine CPI. Has anyone had this issue ? I have attached a screenshot:

Here's a link for boot loop recovery.
Since it's a new install you probably don't have anything to recover though:::

Reading the system requirements for the Express version, one would think any version of ESXi is supported.
Looking at the system requirements for the Standard and Pro versions though it appears 5.1 is the latest version.
VMWare Version
Express - ESXi 4.1 or later
Standard - ESXi 5 or ESXi 5.1
Pro - ESXi 5 or ESXi 5.1
Try with ESXi 5.1 and I'll bet it works!

  • Boot Loop Issues - MSI Z77A-GD65 - Solved

Picked myself up an MSI Z77A-GD65 as well as some Kingston 2x 4GB RAM sticks with a i5 2500k.
After getting everything installed, it just boot-loops on me showing me no boot menu, with a debug code of 55.
If I take out one of the RAM sticks and just use the #2 slot, it boots fine (but after starting windows, it flashes some blue screen and it boots again. I'm thinking that's only because I haven't installed any drivers and still have the old drivers from my motherboard. Yes/No?).
But as soon as I put the second stick in, it will not boot (swapped sticks and it boots fine with one stick). I've tried 1/3 and 2/4 and the only slot that seems to work is #2 (#4 slot won't boot with one stick in it). Tried each stick in each slot. 1/2 work, but 3/4 will not
I'm guessing this isn't a RAM issue but a MOBO issue? I sense an RMA in my future....

Can you take a good quality, in focus hi-rez picture of the socket and post it so we can see what you are talking about?
I would if I could. Best way I can describe it is that the pins are all kind of bent at an angle (imagine an L shape, but upside down). Now take the bottom of the L (where it's small and turns) and kind of bend that facing the ceiling. It's kind of like that...

Why is this thread in the Intel duo/quad section?
What are the amps on the PSU +12V rail(s)? And how old is it? Suggest to keep just the one RAM stick in the primary DIMM slot and do a fresh OS install with the Mode set to AHCI. BTW, what is the OS? 32 or 64 bit?
Good question. I think I was very tired/annoyed when I made this, and I guess I didn't look properly. If any mods can move it, or need me to take it down, I can.

I don't have a problem doing a fresh install, but would like to make sure it's nothing else before hand. If I do a fresh install, and I still have to RMA the board, I would have to do another one to put all my old stuff back in, and I wouldn't really have a PC until the new board came (I mean I could still use it, but would have to re-install stuff and it seems like a bit of a pain if I don't *have to).

  • Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance 10.0 | CDR Issues

    Hello,
I'm trying to configure my CUCM 10.0 to send CDR record to my Cisco Prime Collaboration 10.0, but the CUCM can't connect to the SFTP in the Cisco Prime.
I tried connect to other SFTP client, but unsuccessful, too. I have received "invalid username or password" response.
I can connect the port 22 and 26, by command prompt for example. I followed all the steps of the "Deployment Guide", but I can't add the Cisco Prime in CUCM.
    Thanks a lot

  • Z97-G45 Gaming boot loop issue

    Hey everyone,
My new build seems to be giving me problems.  I put everything together, imaged my SSD and everything seemed to be working fine at first.  I had games running and was getting excellent performance with everything on stock settings.  Then I started to sync my Plex media server with all it's contents and my computer froze.  The keyboard/mouse were non-responsive so frustratingly I reset the computer manually.
Now my computer fans will boot up and then immediately turn back off.
    So far I've:
-Disconnected everything except my CPU/RAM and PSU -- I got the same boot loop response
-Initially, I was able to get the system to the BIOS by changing the configuration of the RAM.  Now that no longer works.  It would require me to change the RAM multiple times, and the system by random chance would sometimes boot to the BIOS.  It would freeze if I tried to get into the OS.
-I just exchanged the PSU with a known working component.  (Both 750W)
-I reseated the CPU and ensured I had a proper connection between the heat sink and CPU
There doesn't seem to be any physical degradation of the motherboard.
    Here's the specs:
MSI Z97-G45 Gaming Motherboard BIOS v2.0
    Intel Core i7-4770k processor
    Corsair H70 CPU heat sink
16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600(I've tried both w/ XMP on and off when I can get the system to boot)
Nvidia Gefore GTX 750 TI Graphics Card (also tried onboard DVI connections)
Corsair HX750W (tried also my Thermaltake 750W)
    Zowie Mechanical Keyboard
    Zowie optical mouse
    Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64-Bit
    1x 250GB Western Digital Black
    1x 1TB Western Digital Black
1x 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD (Broken in my attempts to plug/unplug it and the terminals snapped -- SOOOO frustrated at that.  I have the 1TB Western Digital imaged with the same OS now.)
Hopefully you guys have an idea to try before I RMA it...

It's used to clear the CMOS, so no, it should not have a jumper on it. Most use a flat tip screwdriver to short it to clear CMOS, or the clear CMOS button at the I/O plate if one is provided there.

  • Blackberry Q10 Boot Loop Issues

    Hi, I need help!
Just replaced the front glass/LCD on a Blackberry Q10, everything went smoothly, no issues, pretty easy process.
I then plug the phone in, to charge and it automatically comes on, loads to about 30% then makes a faint sound and cuts off, then keeps rebooting to about the same point (27%-34% loaded) each time and cuts off each time.
And there is no indicator that the phone is charging.
I tried some solutions I found online but none worked.
I am trying to avoid loosing data.
I do not have the original charger, could this be the issue?
Also the battery is a little damaged physically, could this be the issue?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From what you describe, I would deduce that something got damaged during the replacement you conducted, resulting in what you are now experiencing. But I am rather concerned...you did not have a backup before you began that repair? Risky, to say the least...
If you cannot repair it again yourself, you'll need to find someone who can. Given what you describe, I doubt you have any warranty coverage anymore.
    Good luck!

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Upgrade from 1.3.0.20

    Hi,
We have a full fledged CPI 1.3.0.20 running with about 150-200 buildings worth of wireless data. We need to upgrade it to 2.1 version to make use of the 702W APs WPPs. The upgrade is failing in a boot loop again and again no matter what we do. We have setup CPI as a vm on vmware esxi 5.1. See the brief below of what we have tried:
Option 1: Inline upgrade: installed the patch on 1.3.0.20 (required for upgrade to 2.1), then download and install 2.1 upgrade file on it, and after it finishes the installation and goes for reboot, it starts boot loop.
Option 2: Migration option, Create a vm ova template on the esxi host for the 2.1 install from scratch. but here also, when its reboots after the final installtion, it ends up with the same boot loop. Has someone experienced this before, or atleast something you might want to share regarding this would be great.
    Thanks
    Lovleen

Well, although it failed in the test/dev  environment, but we successfully upgraded in the production environment, as we tried it in parallel with the running CPI, and only tuned it off, once we were happy with the 2.1 system
So, what we did, deploy 2.1 ova standard version, and use thin provisioning, and it installed ok, although it took about 20-30 minutes after the installing ncs stage and it looked it was in boot loop, but i left it for some time, and it was all fine after about 30 minutes at that stage, I think it boots it self up few time to install some services etc.
Then I ran a backup on the original CPI 1.3 after installing the patch file (required for restore to a 2.1 system), aand used that backup to restore onto the new CPI2.1 system.
I followed exactly as it was in the Cisco 2.1 documentation.. I suspect the vmware infrastructure in our test/dev might be the reason (as the available resources were just enough for the ova system requirements).  for the first time boot loop issue that we had, and we had also used thick provisioning that time..
Can you try a thin provisioning install and then see if you have any luck.
Give it enough time when you see it is boot loop, it might be more time based on your network infrastructure.
The above process in this comment, I have double verified it 2 times, and both times was like smooth as.
Good Luck. Let me know how you go on.

  • Z68A-GD80 B3 Boot Loop and Failed BIOS LED Flashing

I've been having "boot loop" issues with my system since it was built in June. Basically, when the system is powered on the lights/fans come on for around 3 seconds then it shuts itself off for another 3 seconds and repeats the loop infinitely. Meanwhile there are no POST code beeps and nothing shows up on screen. I also noticed today that the Dual BIOS control LED is flashing during boot loops indicating that the primary BIOS has failed.
As this was my first build in quite a while I didn't initially worry about it too much, figuring that it was probably just a BIOS setting or improperly seated hardware issue. Shortly there after my son was born and needless to say there wasn't a whole lot of time to trouble shoot a PC for a couple of months. Fast forward four months later to today and the boot looping is driving me nuts. It seems to occur when the system has been powered down overnight and more frequently if the reset button is used. I've read a lot of stuff saying that the Gigabyte boards are prone to this issue, but can't find anyone else with the same issue on a MSI z68 board. I've check/done the following to try and trouble shoot the issue.
    1. Flash to BIOS 17.3 (twice)
    2. Installed system speaker to hear post codes. Got a whole lot of nothing.
    3. Installed one stick of RAM in slot one. Tried all four sticks. Nothing works.
    4. Set BIOS values to default.
    5. Tried disabling and enabling XMP profiles for the RAM.
    6. Upped the voltage on the RAM to 1.5V, since the board reports an under-volt around 1.48 on auto. No effect.
    7. Disabled PLL overvolt.
    8. Enabled VDroop (still not clear on what this is).
    9. Removed both video cards and used the on chip video. No effect.
    10. Unplugged all USB devices.
    11. Tried XMP enabled and disabled for the memory.
    12. Hard drive plugged in and removed makes no difference.
    13. Bare system with only one stick of RAM installed, no difference.
    11. Lots of other crap that I can't think of right now.
Any help would be great as I'm at a loss here.
    System specs are as follows;
    Intel 2600K
    Corsair H50 Cooler
    MSI z68a-gd80 B3 with BIOS v 17.3
PNY Geforce GTX 560 Ti (2x in SLI)
    Linksys Wireless G PCI card
Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM (4x2GB at 1600 MHz XMP enabled)
    Segate Barracuda 7200 RPM Drive 500GB (2x in RAID0)
OCZ Vertex2 64 GB SSD as system cache
    Corsair TX750 Power Supply
    Corsair 600t case

    More wierd stuff.
I couldn't get the board to boot without looping last night, tried the usual unplugging and clearing the CMOS nothing. Boot loops at every turn.
I wonder if maybe I've got some bad pins or a poor connection on my RAM slots. I removed the RAM and began testing one by one. First stick gave a boot loop. Second stick worked. On restart the BIOS LED wasn't flashing anymore, which is odd since I hadn't yet set the BIOS fix feature to enabled. I powered down again and put my RAM back in, set my BIOS settings as suggested, and then clocked the RAM to 1333MHz. Seemed stable last night through a number of restarts.
As for the backup BIOS reporting v 17.3. Yeah, that is odd. The manual says it can't be flashed either. Maybe BIOS just reports what the primary version number is no matter which chip (primary or secondary) is actually active and being booted from?
I'd like to think this is over, but I'm sure when I go home and power up I'll get another boot loop. I'd rather not be without a PC for a couple weeks, but I may just have to RMA so I don't have to deal with this anymore. It's quite frustrating to have fiddle around for 10+ minutes to get your PC up and running, plus with a RAID0 setup and SSD cache I'm just asking for a system failure with all these power on/off cycles.

  • Cisco prime 2.2.0 "Telnet/SSH : Unreachable"

    Hi,
I've installed the Cisco Prime 2.2.0 OVA (VMware) and ran discovery with a Credential Profile.
some of the device has discovered with complete state and some with Partial Collection Failure state.
when trying to edit the device (under network inventory) and verify credentials i'm getting the above error "Telnet/SSH : Unreachable", but when SSH from the Cisco Prime CLI with the same credentials all works just fine.
    %SSH-5-SSH2_SESSION: SSH2 Session request from X.X.X.X (tty = 1) using crypto cipher '', hmac '' Failed
    please help...

    Hi Afroz,
All of my net devices use AAA for login.
I'm using credentials profile to discover my devices and some of them has discovered as they should and some of them are partialy discover with the Cisco Prime log it with CLI/ssh issue.
But when I'm SSH to the partialy discovered device via the Cisco Prime CLI with the same credentials as configured at the credential profile, I'm able to login with no issue.
Please note - while I'm editing the partialy discovered device and testing the credential via the Prime GUI, it display the error message "Telnet/SSH : Unreachable" - and the device log meeage is %SSH-5-SSH2_SESSION: SSH2 Session request from X.X.X.X (tty = 1) using crypto cipher '', hmac '' Failed.
    What does it mean?

  • Mac Mini late 2012 upgrade to Maverick loop issue

    Hi there,
    I'm a Mac Mini noob.
Last night I downloaded Maverick and this morning I clicked install.
The Mac rebooted and then loaded then showed some error messages and then goes to password screen. I enter it and it says there was a problem and the MAC will be restarted.
It now just loads, shows the error message and automatically goes to password enter screen and then says theres an error and will be rebooted after I enter the correct password.
Can some one tell me whats wrong and how to fix or even to cancel this upgrade? I just want my Mac Mini to work again.
    Thanks
    L

Thanks BDAqua, I didn't try your method but...
Hmm I attempted the following and it was resolved and I managed to get back to my desktop and out of the restart loop (phew). I then pulled up my guts and double clicked the Maverick install again and this time it was successful. I followed this article which I found shortly after I posted the problem on here:
    http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/11/04/os-x-mavericks-upgrade-boot-loop-fix/
OS X Mavericks Upgrade BootLoop Fix
If you are upgrading to OS X Mavericks and get stuck in a boot loop that will not complete the installation, you may need to hit a special key combo to force the computer to complete the installation and upgrade process.
Gotta Be Mobile reader Steve Small reached out to let us know about the OS X Mavericks Upgrade bootloop problem, which forced his MacBook Pro to get stuck showing the odd text on a screen below, which looks like a OS X crash and an error message that says, “Your computer restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait a few seconds to continue startup.”
Read: How to Upgrade to OS X Mavericks
Ultimately this error prevented Small from upgrading to OS X Mavericks, as it did many other users. Thankfully if you get stuck in this OS X Mavericks boot loop you can press four keys at startup to reset the NVRAM and get past the boot loop.
OS X Mavericks upgrade boot loop and kernel panic can prevent an easy upgrade.
When you restart the Mac, press Option-Command-P-R until you hear the startup sound a second time. This will reset the NVRAM, which is where your Mac stores the following information.
    Speaker volume
    Screen resolution
    Startup disk selection
Recent kernel panic information, if any.
In this case, resetting the NVRAM should clear up the boot loop issue which was possibly related to the startup disk selection stored here or to a kernel panic. The error screen shown at the top of this guide looks very similar to a kernel panic.
With this out of the way you should be able to continue the upgrade to OS X Mavericks. If the computer does not pickup where it left off you may need to go to LaunchPad and select Install OS X Mavericksagain. If you need to install it from scratch, here is our guide to a clean OS X Mavericks install.
Read: OS X Mavericks Best Features
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/10/24/20-best-os-x-mavericks-features/Apple released OS X Mavericks as a free upgrade to all Mac users with a compatible Mac in October. The software update is available for many Macs as old as mid-2007 are compatible with the free update. Users can download the 5GB installation file from the Mac App Store on any of these compatible devices.

  • Boot Loop and 'Fix'

    Afternoon,
We had the known boot loop issue (TID10100142), so I applied the ZDM65SP2
Hot Patch which is not in full release yet.
What a disaster! Imaging then had a big hissy fit and I started getting
errors. Namely, Load.dnx error downloading "D"!
I tried to be smart and replace the TFTP folder with a standed SP2
version but started to get other errors.
To fix imaging not working at all I re-applied SP2, but the boot loop
    issue is still presenting itself.
Suppose I better wait for the final Service Pack.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Express OVA failing to boot up

Hi all, i'm wondering if you can help me, i'm trying to deploy Cisco Prime Infrastructure in a lab envrionment but it's not working correctly.
I've deployed "PI-VA-2.1.0.0.87-Express.ova" to a VMware ESXI 5.1U2 hypervisor with 2x AMD 8128HE CPUs, 96GB RAM, ASUS KGPE-D16 motherboard. The installation works fine, I can answer all the questions and enter the IP address. Once the system reboots, it hangs at the following screen:
"Kernel direct mapping tables up to 340000000 @ 10000-1c000" is the last thing I see
Interestingly at this point I can actually ping the VM... I cant connect to the managemnet console on HTTPS though :(
I did find some related info on a blog https://deekayen.net/kernel-alive-lock which mentions booting with "noapic", however when I try to press "P" on the grub boot loader it prompts me to enter a password which I dont know! My normal admin passwords arent working.
Any help to ge tthis running would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Ben

The server takes about 30 mins to boot up, it's not actually broken it's just extremely slow .. I have found numerous people reporting this issue online, and our production system also does this! I guess my original problem is solved, although I would prefer this issue not to exist!

    [ Thu Apr 18 20:53:11 GMT 2013 ] TomcatMonitor theMgr constructor successful.
    [ Thu Apr 18 20:53:11 GMT 2013 ] TomcatMonitor Inside whileloop
[ Thu Apr 18 20:53:11 GMT 2013 ] TomcatMonitor Tomcat is not ready, it's coming up Connection refused
It looks like the hostname cannot be resolved. Can you try to add a static entry in /etc/hosts for the IP of the server and CiscoLMS42?
Restart the daemon manager and it should work.
    Regards,
    Vlad
