Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution - List of manageble devices

Is there a list of devices that is current list of devices that Cisco Prime is able to manage (ie: configuration files, images, health and status, etc)?
I more specifically need to know if Prime manages IPS-4200 series, As one of my requirments is to back up configuration, images, signature files and ideally from one repository as the rest of the Cisco router/switching devices.
thanks in advace!

I noticed this post https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11715076/lms-422-software-distribution-task-fails-upgrade-3750-image and tried to get the customer to try the following:
    Solution:
Timeout needs to be increased for a device or entire device type group from Admin > Collection Settings > Inventory > Edit the Inventory/Config Timeout and Retry Settings
              ReadDelay – 200ms
Telnet Timeout – 800s(This timeout is applicable for both TELNET and SSH)
And the customer was able to do run the scheduled job after changing the time settings with TFTP, not with SCP. Any ideas about the reason that SCP does not work? Any additional configuration needs to be done from the switch side?

  • Cisco LAN Management Solution is required to support Cisco Nexus 5548P and 5596UP switches?

    Hi,
Could someone help to know what Cisco LAN Management Solution is required to support Cisco Nexus 5548P switches and Cisco Nexus 5596UP switches?
These new Cisco switches are being implementing on customer network and he ask us that he requires these equipments be supported on a LMS solution (customer currently is using LMS 3.2.1)
    Can someone help?
    Thanks in advanced,
    guruiz

Some very limited Nexus support is present in LMS 3.2.1 - see the supported device table here.
To get more complete support, including the 5596UP, they need to upgrade to LMS 4.x (e.g.  LMS 4.2.2 is the latest and is sold under the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 umbrella). The major upgrade from 3.x to 4.x requires purchasing an upgrade license.
Some functions (namely User Tracking ) will not be available on the 5k due to non-support of the requisite MIB on the device. I believe LMS still doesn't let you do VLAN management on 5k's - you need to use DCNM for that if you want to do it from a GUI.
See the table here for LMS 4.2 device support.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 - list of BSSIDs?

How to obtain a complete list of all BSSIDs in Prime?  We were given a list of BSSIDs from a recent security audit.  We need to validate that list against a list of all valid BSSIDs to determine which BSSIDs are rogues and which one is legitimate.  I don't see any report that can be ran in Prime to extract that information.
I can manually check a few BSSIDs by removing the last octet and searching Prime for the matching AP's base Radio MAC address if it is not a rogue.  I can then ssh to the wireless controller and run the command show ap wlan 802.11b/802.11a [AP Name] to list all of the BSSIDs use by that AP on the 11b and 11a radios.  But how do I get a complete list from Prime?  I would believe that information is there somewhere since Prime has rogue detection.

I was looking for BSSID in WLC4400 but I'm getting following log. AP model is AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9.
I'm not sure if this is limitations with the IOS or Configuration issue ???
    (LAX-WLANCTRL-1A) >show ap wlan 802.11a CHRE-R
Cisco AP is not in override mode.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 to setup Discovered Devices in Dashboard Detail auto refresh in 3 minutes

    Hello Jason,
Thank you very much for welcoming me to your expert discussion :) I feel to be in the right place, at the right time. Thank you also for answering question beyond your scope here, much appreciated. The information received will help me to go further as such I have submitted a 5 start rating for your first reply.
That sounds promising about the LMS part so yes, I stay tuned and wait patiently.
Ok, now let’s revert to the actual topic discussed here. Cisco Prime Service Catalog and Process Orchestrator solutions I have briefly read up on this on CCO (where elseJ) and picked out the following quote
---- Quote from the Cisco Prime Service Catalog Data Sheet
Today’s end users want self-service and easy access to IT tools and services.
Simultaneously, organizations are seeking ways to extend their cloud management
platforms beyond self-service delivery of virtual machines and infrastructure resources
while increasing their use of cloud-based solutions to enhance business agility and effectiveness.
Cisco Prime™ Service Catalog offers tremendous benefits to organizations that want to unify the ways in
which all types of IT services are ordered and fulfilled, not just infrastructure requests
    ---- un quote ---
I try to understand what (at high level of course) happens in the back ground when an order is raised and which vendor solution your product can interact with.
As mentioned in the quoted text, this service catalogue goes beyond the standard infrastructure.
Let’s say, a user wants to deploy a new email services, or in your example,  extends or create a new web-portal (i.e. for HR to view and manage holiday, staff absence and benefits).
Your solution will need to interact somehow with the 3rd party vendor application that is capable building such portal I believe.
Without disclosing to many information, I assume the portal is linked to backend VM,s that spin up requested resources (and more magic of course). Perhaps I am mixing this up with another cisco product where a user can go on the portal and spin up virtual Firewalls, virtual Routers can be provisioned in now time.
Out if interest; Is this product also known as Mozart? (project code within Cisco?)
    I hope query is ok.
    Best wishes
    Markus

  • Upgrade Cisco Prime LMS 4.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1

My company has asked me to migrate Prime LMS 4.0 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 for a client and can not find the guide, the questions are? the migration is possible without an intermediate step? and There is a guide to update LMS 4.0 to PI 2.0 ??
    Thanks in advance.

Prime LMS 4.2.2 added support for the PI template directly:
    Export Data for Prime Infrastructure
Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution supports data migration to Prime Infrastructure 1.2. This feature enables user to export the Device Credentials Repository (DCR) data from LMS 4.2.x versions to Prime Infrastructure 1.2. The data backup status and backup location are displayed at the bottom of the Export Data for Prime Infrastructure page. The data being exported from LMS and the data imported back to PI are listed as follows.
    Data exported from LMS
    •Device Credentials Repository (DCR)
    •Software Image Management
    •Config Archive
    •Change Audit

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.x Server requirements & Operating System

    Dear Friends
I wish you are in very good health ........ I really very confused regarding LMS and i really needs your help ........ I need to order LMS for one of our customer with 500 devices and reporting cabailities ..... So i chosse base license "R-PI-1.1-K9" and 500 device license "R-PI-1.1-500-K9" and
    Compliance Management - 500 Device License "L-PI-1.1-CM-500"
What really confused me that i tried to search server cabalitity for my requirments & Operating system and couldn't find it ...... what i need your help for is the following:
    1) What is the server requirments ???
    2) What is operating system (windows 2008 or VMWare VMware ESX/ESXi Version 4.1 or 5.0)
    3) Is their any deticated applicance from Cisco ??
    Please help
    Thanks in advance

In addition to the release notes for the 4.2.3 patch noted above, please also see  the 4.2 release notes which further direct you:
    Server and Client Requirements
For information on server and client requirements for the system and browser, see Chapter 2 of Installing and Migrating to Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution 4.2 at:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/install/guide/
    install.html
To summarize the options it describes, you can run the LMS product on any number of platforms - a dedicated Cisco hardware appliance, a physical server of your own with Windows or Solaris OS, a VMware server with a Windows server OS guest, or a "soft appliance". The soft appliance is package built with the underlying guest OS (a customized RHEL distribution with Cisco's Application Development Environment OS (ADE-OS)) built-in.
Once you have installed LMS 4.2, you should patch - first to 4.2.2 and then to the current 4,2,3. then run the software update feature to bring all package components up to date.
Regarding licensing, there is a Cisco Prime Infrastructure Ordering and Licensing Guide here.
When you order the licenses for PI 1.2 (new customer), you order the base product and then Lifecycle licenses (required for either PI 1.2 Lifecycle and LMS installations - which option is a customer choice) and, optionally, Compliance and Assurance licenses. An upgrade order for an existing LMS customer will include the base PI 1.2 with Lifecycle licenses as well as LMS in a single SKU as noted in tables 4 and 5 of the Ordering Guide.

  • Cisco Prime LMS / how to create MyDashboard

    Hi everybody,
i want to create my own Dashboard. But when i do this i have no choise in the dropdown menu to do this. ('copy dashboard' is empty)
When i click the created dashboard, the site is empty.
Do anyone know how to integrate a portlet to my own profile?
    Thanks in advance.

The standard way to do this is by creating a new guest user template and choosing 'Import from file'. Every line of this file (.csv) may be identical, except for the username.
Of course, you must enter the usernames by hand. If you're looking for a way to generate usernames like companyNNNN automatically, you should use some form of scripting.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure and VLAN fetch

I have about a dozen systems which are showing up under the Archive Failed Devices section of Device Work Center -> Configuration Archives.  The reason is Fetch VLAN configuration - Command failed.  All of the affected devices have something in common in that they are all managed by hitting a publicly routable IP address outside of the network on which the NCS server lives (NCS IP is 172.19.40.51).  To the devices, NCS looks like it is coming from an publicly routable IP address (because it is NAT'd by the firewall).  I suspected that the issue was that NCS was trying to TFTP the VLAN.dat file to the NCS server but that it was trying to send it to 172.19.40.51 instead of the NAT address.  I turned on debugs on one of the affected devices and sure enough I see that the device is trying to TFTP something to 172.19.40.51.  Of course that will never work.  I can find no way within the Admin UI of Cisco Prime to change this behavior such that NCS will try to collect the VLAN.dat file in some other way or use the NAT'd IP address for the copy attempt.
Is there a way to get it to use something other than TFTP?  Is there some way to turn this off entirely so that it doesn't show up in the Archive Failed Devices section?  Prime seems to be able to parse the VLANs by way of the configuration file (since we use transparent mode throughout) so it seems like an extra step I don't need.

    Marvin,
This is where everything goes off the rails for me when it comes to understanding Prime Infrastruction, Prime LMS and everything that you're talking about.  Refer to this link:  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/cloud-systems-management/prime-lan-management-solution/data_sheet_c78-697479.html
    How should I interpret this?:
"Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1 bundles campus switch, branch, core routing, and wireless LAN management into a single, easy-to-order solution that enables businesses and enterprises unparalleled operational efficiencies and investment protection. The bundle consists of:
    ● Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution, which delivers simplified management of Cisco® Borderless Networks and reduces operations costs by aligning network management functionality the way network operators do their jobs
    ● Cisco Prime Network Control System, which provides complete wireless LAN management with converged user and access management, and integrated lifecycle management of branch routers
For more information about Cisco Prime Infrastructure, please visit http://www.cisco.com/go/primeinfrastructure."
Am I wrong to assume that the first bullet point, which states "Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution" is referring to Prime LMS 4.2?
    Thanks,
    Steven

  • Cisco Prime network and cisco prime infrastructure

    Hi,
What is the difference between Cisco Prime Network and Cisco Prime infrastructure.
    Please advice.

I assume you are asking about Cisco Prime LAN Management System (LMS) vs. Cisco Prime Infrastructure (PI).
LMS is currently the leading Cisco offering for wired infrastructure management. It is the evolution of the earlier CiscoWorks LMS, CiscoWorks RWAN CiscoWorks 2000, CWSI, VLAN Director, original CiscoWorks classic etc. products going back almost 20 years.
PI is the equivalent Cisco offering for wireless LANs and is the successor to NCS and WCS products.
The overlap and confusion comes from the fact the Cisco is positioning PI as the overall wireless and wired management platform and gradually introducing wired network management features to make it equal (and eventually exceed) LMS's capabilities.
There is a comparison table here that shows the current differences. A major new release of PI (2.0) is due out shortly which will close many (but not all) of the gaps on that table.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.2- problems: Wired Detailed Device Inventory report not running / Cisco 5500 WLCs no listed in subgroup

New installation of Prime Infrastructure 2.2.0 (PI-VA-2.2.0.0.158.ova)
    installed fixes/software/device packs:
    PI 2.2.1 Poodle Fix (installed)
    PI 2.2.1 Maintenance Release (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
    Prime Infrastrucutre 2.2 Device Pack 3 (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
    Licences installed (ncs stopped,rebooted)
Added all devices via Bulk Import (Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices)
    Problem 1:
The Cisco 5500 WLCs are not listed in Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices (see screen shot) but listed under "All Devices"!
The Cisco 4400 WLCs and the 8500 WLCs are listed within their subgroup.
    Devices are in "Managed State"
    Problem 2: fixed! (Browser issue)
    Problem 3:
Unable to run "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report because I get the error message: Failed to run report: Unable to retrieve data for: Chassis Information (if Chassis Information is selected, if System Information is selected I get the error message with ...retrieve data for:System Information)
All devices do have an "Admin Status = Managed" and the Last Inventory Collections Status = Completed.
Has anyone the same issues or a tip for me?
Another topic, the "User Defined Fileds" are not exported when with running a "Device Export" (Inventory > Device Management > Network Devices). ;-(

    Hallo Bastian,
I think you still have browser issue, Using IE is still the best with Prime.
I have exactly same prime 2.2 and installed fixes/software/device packs.
I have no problem I can see all views. I use now IE 11, with Chrome 42.0.2311.90 and firefox 37.01 I have problems too with lots of views. You have not tell what browser + version you have.
Since you have same prime 2.2 as me. I have other problems, can you check yours?
