Cisco Prime NAM 5.1

Hi!!
I have a question!!
I want to build a small demo with the new Cisco Prime NAM 5.1; however, I only have a NM-NAM module for a Cisco Router 2811.
I've read the data sheets and I've come across info that the NAM 5.1 software can be installed on the NME-NAM module which is the replacement for the previous one. Nevertheless, it doesnt say that its not supported on the NM-NAM.
Therefore, my question is, can I install the NAM 5.1 image on a NM-NAM module??
Please I would appriciate your repply. ASAP, the Networkers is coming up and we are deploying a NAM demo!
Thank you very much!!
Sincerely,
Dante Verastegui

Alfroj,
I downloaded the NAM 5.1 software to be installed on a SRE Module.
I was wondering if you could help me out with an error.
When i configure the module and then try to install the files from a ftp server, it doesnt work.
It loads all the files and when its installing, theres a crash and the system reboots. It does this all the time. Just keeps rebooting and rebooting.
Im attaching the messages I get
I would appriciate if you could help me out
Thanks in advance
Sincerely,

    Hi,
we see any rare with Traffic Analyzer, see that ip source configured X.X.X.X/24 is as destination X.X.X.X. Where see that source is Y.Y.Y.Y. If we configure as destination X.X.X.X wihout source about Cisco Prime NAM, will have that appear in traffic analyzer as ip Destination correctly, but is backwards.

  • Cisco Prime NAM 5.1 Data Sources

    Hi!,
Im having a bit of a problem configuring the Data Sources for the NAM to monitor.
I have a ISR G2 Router 2911 with a SRE-NAM module with Cisco Prime NAM 5.1 installed. It's up and running.
The Router has 3 interfaces which Ive configured the "analysis module monitoring" so that it can send all the traffic to the NAM module.
However, one of the interfaces is connected to a Switch 6500 which has many ports in use carrying vlans. It has a lot of traffic going on.
I want to send that traffic to the NAM Module so that i can monitor it using the software.
Ive configured in the switch a ERSPAN session with the ... monitor session commands. Ive assigned as sources all of its connected ports and as destination the port that is connected to the 2911.
Then when i go back to the Software, and in Data Sources i create the ERSPNA session, it doesnt work. it doesnt see the traffic.
Is there anything else i should configure both in the switch and in the router??
Please i would appriciate all the help i can get.
    Thank you very much

  • Using Cisco Prime NAM as Netflow collector

    Hi everybody,
I would like to know if it's possible to use a Cisco Prime Network Analysis Module for ISR G2  as a NetFlow collector.  A draft of architecture is attached. What I need to do is monitor Gi0/0 and Gi0/2 and produce reports about the total amount of traffic to/from two groups of server in the remote data center. My customer doesn't want to use it's NMS neither wants to use a netflow collector. My company can't install and/or operate any kind of new software or hardware to do this job.  VRF is not a problem, I can monitor them one at a time.
Reading documentation it seems me that it's possible configuring Netflow as a data source.
Has any body any experience in tis kind of  config ?
    Thx,
    Enrico

The detailed view of the CDR based dashlets displays the CDR or CMR data only for the last 30 days.
The call details of the endpoints prior to 30 days is not displayed by the dashlets, however, the aggregation
of CDR or CMR data for the endpoints is available for the time period of one year.

  • User Name and Password for Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Hi all:
I am stuck at the login page of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1.
I have tried using the user name root and its password (when log in with root at Vsphere Client) and also the login user name "before" get into the appliance infrastructure, all cannot work.
Anybody knows what is the default username or password or any way to set the username and password for this Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 website?
    Thanks!
    tangsuan

    Hi Tangsuan,
Following is the documented procedure for password recovery..
In order to modify the GUI root user password, you will need to login to the NCS CLI
as an admin user, and enter the command
"ncs password root password <new password>" (without the quotes)
This should set the web interface root user password :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/ncs/1.1/configuration/guide/manag.html#wp1268889
If you have lost your CLI password , try the default logging that is  ,
CLI user is admin and not root, so please try logging in as admin with
the password that was set during setup. If that does not work , you need
the install disk that came with the appliance to recover that password.
    Follow these steps:
    Recovering a Lost Admin Password
If you lose or forget the admin password for NCS appliance, follow these steps.
Step 1 Reboot the NCS appliance with the ISO DVD inserted. The Cisco Prime Network Control
    System Welcome screen appears:
    ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02  Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin

       [3] Recover administrator password. (Keyboard/Monitor)
[4] Recover administrator password. (Serial Console)
<Enter> Boot existing OS from Hard Disk.
Enter boot option and press <return>.
    boot:
Step 2 Select the desired recovery option, 3 or 4, depending on how you
are connected to the appliance and then follow the prompts.
    Thanks-

  • NME-NAM with Cisco Prime 5.1.2 and IOS Firewall

    Hello,
I have installed and configured the Cisco NME-NAM with Prime 5.1.2 and have access to the NAM via a web browser. It is not picking up any data even though I havew configured the following:
    internal data source
    network site 10.10.16.0/20
All reports show "No data for selected time interval"
I am running IOS 15.1 on a 2811 with IOS firewall enabled.
Do I need to create a FW rule to allow traffic to be monitored by the NME-NAM?
    Thank you,
    Matthew

    Hi rajeeshp,
Currently I am not allowed to upgrade it because of internal procedures involved in upgrading a specific piece of software (obtaining permissions from various departments). Is it free to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 or there is a specific charge for that.

  • How to customize email notifications sent by Cisco Prime.

    Hi,
We have been receiving email alerts for any unresponsive devices in Cisco Prime. I was able to find the option to customize the subject for such email alert under Admin-Network-Notification and Action settings, however I am not able to locate the option to change the email body.
The email body for such alerts has lot of unrequired information which I would like to remove.
Can someone provide me the options on how to get rid of such information in the email body.
    Regards

    Hi ,
    To customize the e-mail subject:
Step 1 Select Admin > Network >  Notification and Action Settings > Fault - Email subject  customization.
The available and selected lists of the subject attributes for e-mail  are displayed.
To customize the e-mail subject, you can add and remove subjects from  the current e-mail subjects list. By default, following list of e-mail  subject attributes are displayed in the Selected Subjects for E-Mail  box.
    •Event ID
    •Device Name
    •Time
    •Severity
    •Event Name
    •Status
    To add a subject:
    a. Select the subject attribute  from Available Subjects for E-Mail.
    b. Click Add.
The selected subject attribute is added to the Selected Subjects for  E-Mail list.
You can add a subject attribute only from the Available Subjects list to  the Selected Subjects list. You cannot add a subject attribute from the  Selected subject list to the Available Subject list.
    To remove a subject attribute:
    a. Select the subject attribute  from Selected Subjects for E-Mail.
    b. Click Remove.
The selected subject attribute is removed from the Selected list and  added to the Available subjects for E-Mail list.
You can remove a subject attribute only from the Selected Subjects list  and not from the Available Subjects list.
Step 2 Click Up or Down to rearrange the  order of the selected e-mail subject attributes.
Step 3 Click Apply to save the customized e-mail  subject attributes.
Note: Other than this you will not be able to customize any thing, User-defined fied option will not work.
    I hope this will help
    Thanks

    Any ideas ?

    Hi Ben:
There are .iso images for both Prime Infrastructure 1.2.1 and the current release, Prime Infrastructure 1.3.0.20 that can be downloaded and burned to a Dual Layer DVD (in a Dual Layer DVD burner) and used to reimage the physical appliance with.  These physical appliances shipped from a factory with a hard drive that has magnetic  representations of 0 and 1 on it, it's entirely possible something  happened to something to the data in transit.  Reimaging puts everything back to square one and completely rules out the  possibility of anything being corrupted.
Once it's running again, be sure to check out and install the Update 1 patch for Prime Infrastructure 1.3.0.20 (filename PI_1.3.0.20_Update_1-12.tar.gz).

    Hi Jeremy,
SNMP traps are shown in the events and alerts section of PI.
SNMP config looks fine. Can  you run the SNMP debug (debug snmp packets ) .check the logs and see if the device is actually sending the TRAPS to the PI server.
    Thanks-

  • Cisco Prime NCS 1.3 Licensing issue

    Hello,
I am installing Cisco prime NCS x 2 servers. I downloaded the licenses which are ordered allong with the devices as follows.
    Product Name                : L-PI12-LF-50-LIC
        Product Description         : L-PI12-LF-50-LIC:Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 50 Device Lic PAK
        Product Qty                 : 1
        UDI                        : PID: PRIME-NCS-APL-K9
The issue is, the NCS appliance was not started properly and then I used the CD which came along with the server (NCS 1.3). Now my system is up and running but it is NCS 1.3 and when i upload the licenses, it shows that the UID is not matching with the system. Is this because the licenses are issued for NCS 1.2 and my system runs on 1.3? If so, what do you suggest, do i need to download NCS 1.2, install it, add the license and then upgrade to 1.3?
    Thanks for your advise,
    Regards
    Jay

This patch is not intended to be installed from CLI. You have to update this from the GUI of Cisco Prime Infra.
To install this patch from GUI :
    >> Log in to the Prime Infrastructure server using an ID with administrator privileges and choose Administration > Software Update .
    >> Click Upload Update File and browse to the location where you saved the patch file. Click OK to upload the file.
    >> When the upload is complete:
         a. On the Software Upload page, confirm that the Name, Published Date and Description of the patch file are correct.
         b. Select the patch file and click Install .
         c. You will see a popup message indicating when the installation is complete. You should also see a listing for the patch in the “Updates” table, with a “Yes” opposite the patch under the “Installed” column, and a “Yes” under the “Pending Restart” column.
    >> Restart the server by first executing the ncs stop command and then the ncs start command, as explained in Running Commands.
Step 7 Verify that the patch is installed by logging into the server and choosing Administration > Software Update . You should see a listing for the patch in the “Updates” table, with a “Yes” opposite the patch under the “Installed” column, and a “No” under the “Pending Restart” column.

  • Problem with implementing license in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2

    Goodday,
For Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 I downloaded an license from the license portal.
This concerns a eval/demo license, for an demo of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2.
When selecting the the type of license you get a few options, from which I selected the basic, advanced and lifecycle evaluation licenses. This is the type of license that is required for our demo.
After completing the wizard I can download en implement the license.
Until this point everything goes as it supposed to be.
When i go to the Prime Infrastructure 2.2 appliance (running on VMWare ESXi 5.5.0).
When I go to the license section in Cisco Prime Infrastructure I can implement the license, however if I implement the .lic file I get the error “Unknown feature (PI_VM)”.
I have done implementing license files before, but this is the first time i encounterd this problem.
Who can help me with this error?
    Regards,
    Dennie Verhoeven

    Hi Dennie,
PI2X-BASE-LF-AS-US-VM-N-EVAL-90   >> I think you have used this product name while generating the license
Either you try generating a new license or  contact cisco license team to generate a new license
with the information  like below ::
    Product Name                : R-PI2X-K9
        Product Description         : R-PI2X-K9:R-PI2X-K9 : Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x
        Product Qty                 : 1
        UDI                        : PID: PRIME-NCS-VAPL  SN: ANY:ANY
Serial no : with ANY:ANY will work as  starting from PI 2.2 , there is no node locking with license.
    Thanks-

  • Cisco Prime 1.2 device interface alarms

    Hello All,
I am working on Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2.1.012. I have enabled prime to report interface up and down messages.
But I am seeing some strange messages such as below,
    Alarm Condition:Link down
Message: Port '{0}' is up on device '{1}'.
This is happening for some of the interfaces of the switch. For the same switch if there is any interface activity I can see alram message as,
Message: Port 'GigabitEthernet0/43' is up on device '10.104.xx.xx'
which is good and undestandable. Why the interface name is shown as {0}?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Girish

Just found the solution to the problem!
Bug ID: CSCuf55719, Incomplete link down detection: Port '{0}' is down on device '{1}'.
It seems this issue will be fixed in PI 2.0.

  • Cisco Prime Assurance install Help..!!!! :( :(

    Hi all,
We would like to bring cisco prime assurance 9.1 in to our Organization
Guys could you please provide me install guide or screen shot of the  application for the assurance version 9.1 and I wanted to know the prerequisite  for this application like server requirement etc
We are having a UCS in which we can run a VM machine but I wanted to know is  cisco prime is installed on windows server 2008 ent edition R2,R1?
Or it has any OVI template like CUCM or how do I install and integrate  it?
Please help me to proceed in this case..
    Rgds,
    Rebecca
    God bless u all!!

    Hi Rebecca,
    Well....at least you're getting there
    I believe you'd need glabaladmin for the UI as admin is for cli;
    User Accounts
For  Prime Collaboration, you will be required to specify various passwords  at different instances. This section is designed to help you specify  appropriate passwords in several scenarios that demand your login  credentials (applicable for both converged application and standalone  Prime Collaboration Assurance and Prime Collaboration Provisioning  applications).
•globaladmin- A superuser who can access both Prime Collaboration Assurance and Prime Collaboration Provisioning UIs.
•globaladmin  password- Specify this password when you configure your virtual  appliance for either standalone or converged applications. See Configuring the Prime Collaboration Assurance Virtual Appliance and Configuring the Prime Collaboration Provisioning Virtual Appliance. You are also required to specify this password when you log in to the UI (see Password Rules for root User and globaladmin).
In  Prime Collaboration Provisioning, this password is synched with the  password of postgres admin (to perform backup and restore operations).  The password is then updated in the database and in the /opt/cupm/sep/dfc.properties file. You must log in as a root user to access the dfc.properties file.
Note If  you plan to install both Prime Collaboration Assurance and Prime  Collaboration Provisioning, ensure that you specify the same password  for both applications during installation.
•CLI Admin Username—The default username is admin. However, you can specify the username of your choice.
•CLI  Admin Password—Specify a password for the SSH CLI admin. This password  is used to log in to the CLI to check the application status and perform  backup and restore (see Password Rules for CLI admin).
The  CLI is supported only through SSH; Telnet is not supported. You can log  in through SSH using port 26 for Assurance and port 22 for Provisioning.
•Root user—A superuser who has all privileges in Linux shell.
•Root password—Specify a password for the root user (see Password Rules for root User and globaladmin).
Password Rules for root User and globaladmin
•Must contain at least one of each: lowercase letter, uppercase letter, number, and special characters.
•No character in the password may be repeated more than three times consecutively.
    •Cannot contain non-ASCII characters, %, +, and &.
•Cannot be cisco or ocsic or any variant obtained by changing the capitalization of letters therein, or by substituting 1,!, or | for i, substituting 0 for o, or substituting $ for s.
•Cannot be same as the username, and cannot be the username reversed.
    •Must contain from 8 to 80 characters.
    •Cannot end with these characters: *, ; or #.
Caution We recommend that you write down the root password, as it cannot be retrieved.
Note•To  change the root password, you must log in as root user and execute the  "passwd" command, which prompts you for a new password.
•If  you are planning to integrate Provisioning and Assurance servers, make  sure that you adhere to the Assurance-specific globaladmin password  rules while setting up / creating the password for globaladmin in  Provisioning.
    Password Rules for CLI admin
    •Must contain atleast six characters.
•Must contain at least one of each: lowercase letter, uppercase letter, and number.
•Must not be the same as the username itself.
    Installation Prompts
We  recommend that you find out the values beforehand for the following  parameters, as you will be required to enter them at the console prompts  when you configure the virtual appliance:
•IP address—The IP address of the virtual appliance. If you wish to change the IP address, see
•IP default netmask—The default subnet mask for the IP address
•IP default gateway—The IP address of the default gateway
•Default DNS domain—The default domain name
•Primary nameserver—The primary name server. You may add a name server. To configure several name servers, enter y.
•Primary NTP server[time.nist.gov]—The primary NTP server. To enter a secondary NTP server, enter y at the next prompt.
Note Prime Collaboration 9.5 supports three NTP servers. To configure a tertiary NTP server, enter y at the next prompt, after you specify a secondary NTP server.
•Timezone—The  timestamp that is displayed on the UI is the server time. By default,  the configured timezone is UTC. For a list of supported timezones, see Supported Timezones for Prime Collaboration. You must use the same timezone for Prime Collaboration Assurance and Prime Collaboration Provisioning servers in converged mode.
•Username—The CLI admin username. The default is admin. However, you can specify the username of your choice.
•Password—The  CLI admin password. This password is used to log in to the CLI to check  the application status and perform backup and restore.
•Root user—A superuser who has all privileges in Linux shell.
•Root password—Specify a password for the root user.
•globaladmin—A  superuser of the application who has all privileges, and whose account  used for initial login to the application (UI).
    •globaladmin password—Specify a password for the globaladmin.
•Network deployment mode-Select the network deployment mode you need. Specify E for Enterprise Deployment or M for Managed Service Provider Deployment (E/M).
