Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 DVD install fails
We want to migrate to Prime 2.2, but management doesn't want the downtime of the appliance. Trying to install Prime 2.2 via DVD onto a Dell R300 server, and then import config from our appliance to test for issues. However, the NCS install fails due to a file issue. Second burned DVD fails as well. Has anyone tried this? Using a VM (at this point) is not an option.
I've not tried it but would not expect that to work.
The .iso image (DVD) is custom-built for installation onto the Cisco NCS hardware appliance. To install onto any other hardware, you would have to first have VMware ESXi hypervisor and install using the .ova image. -
Cisco Prime Infra 2.1 Standard Install using OVA File HD Requirements
Hi guys,
I wanna install the Cisco Prime Infra Standard 2.1 using the OVA File but I haven't 900 HD Space continuous in Storage.
Two questions
01) The Virtual Machine allocate this space (900 HD) during the install or allocate dynamically as needed ?
02) There is a option to install the Standard Version using less HD space ?
Thanks
My Best Regards
Andre Gustavo LomonacoInitially we installed medium when Prime 2.0 came out, however about 3 months lately we needed to upgrade to standard/pro. Upgrading the CPU/Core was seamless
Install a smaller OVA with enough cpu/cores for the standard and just add disk space later on

Its not a recommended practice but there are work around... -

I noticed this post https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11715076/lms-422-software-distribution-task-fails-upgrade-3750-image and tried to get the customer to try the following:
Solution:
Timeout needs to be increased for a device or entire device type group from Admin > Collection Settings > Inventory > Edit the Inventory/Config Timeout and Retry Settings
ReadDelay – 200ms
Telnet Timeout – 800s(This timeout is applicable for both TELNET and SSH)
And the customer was able to do run the scheduled job after changing the time settings with TFTP, not with SCP. Any ideas about the reason that SCP does not work? Any additional configuration needs to be done from the switch side?
Thanks in advance,Hi guys,
Any ideas on this? -
Cisco Prime LMS 4.1, "License Server/Daemon Manager is down."
Hello,
We having problem with Cisco Prime LMS running version 4.1.
When open Home page shows the next message: "License Server/Daemon Manager is down. Please check license.log for more information." (see attached)
The daemon server is stopped already and i can't restart it, see below:
C:\>net start crmdmgtd
The Cisco Prime Daemon Manager service is starting.
The Cisco Prime Daemon Manager service could not be started.
The service did not report an error.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.
ThanksIt looks like you're seeing CSCte49301. Follow the release note steps to solve this:
Symptom:
The EssentialsDM daemon hangs in a Waiting to initialize state (as seen in the output of the pdshow command). Additionally, one might see "Error connecting to JRM" in Resource Manager Essentials applications.
Conditions:
This occurs on Windows servers after the patch for KB968930 is installed, and only if the Windows Remote Management service was started prior to starting CiscoWorks Daemon Manager.
Workaround:
Shutdown CiscoWorks Daemon Manager with the following command from the server's command prompt:
net stop crmdmgtd
Delete the following two files:
NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\ctmregistry
NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\ctmregistry.backup
Restart CiscoWorks Daemon Manager with the following command:
net start crmdmgtd
If that does not work, then the Windows Remote Management service must be stopped, and disabled. Then, CiscoWorks Daemon Manager must be restarted. -

Thank you very much for welcoming me to your expert discussion :) I feel to be in the right place, at the right time. Thank you also for answering question beyond your scope here, much appreciated. The information received will help me to go further as such I have submitted a 5 start rating for your first reply.
That sounds promising about the LMS part so yes, I stay tuned and wait patiently.
Ok, now let’s revert to the actual topic discussed here. Cisco Prime Service Catalog and Process Orchestrator solutions I have briefly read up on this on CCO (where elseJ) and picked out the following quote
---- Quote from the Cisco Prime Service Catalog Data Sheet
Today’s end users want self-service and easy access to IT tools and services.
Simultaneously, organizations are seeking ways to extend their cloud management
platforms beyond self-service delivery of virtual machines and infrastructure resources
while increasing their use of cloud-based solutions to enhance business agility and effectiveness.
Cisco Prime™ Service Catalog offers tremendous benefits to organizations that want to unify the ways in
which all types of IT services are ordered and fulfilled, not just infrastructure requests
---- un quote ---
I try to understand what (at high level of course) happens in the back ground when an order is raised and which vendor solution your product can interact with.
As mentioned in the quoted text, this service catalogue goes beyond the standard infrastructure.
Let’s say, a user wants to deploy a new email services, or in your example, extends or create a new web-portal (i.e. for HR to view and manage holiday, staff absence and benefits).
Your solution will need to interact somehow with the 3rd party vendor application that is capable building such portal I believe.
Without disclosing to many information, I assume the portal is linked to backend VM,s that spin up requested resources (and more magic of course). Perhaps I am mixing this up with another cisco product where a user can go on the portal and spin up virtual Firewalls, virtual Routers can be provisioned in now time.
Out if interest; Is this product also known as Mozart? (project code within Cisco?)
I hope query is ok.
Best wishes

Thanks in advanceIn addition to the release notes for the 4.2.3 patch noted above, please also see the 4.2 release notes which further direct you:
Server and Client Requirements
For information on server and client requirements for the system and browser, see Chapter 2 of Installing and Migrating to Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution 4.2 at:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/install/guide/
install.html
To summarize the options it describes, you can run the LMS product on any number of platforms - a dedicated Cisco hardware appliance, a physical server of your own with Windows or Solaris OS, a VMware server with a Windows server OS guest, or a "soft appliance". The soft appliance is package built with the underlying guest OS (a customized RHEL distribution with Cisco's Application Development Environment OS (ADE-OS)) built-in.
Once you have installed LMS 4.2, you should patch - first to 4.2.2 and then to the current 4,2,3. then run the software update feature to bring all package components up to date.
Regarding licensing, there is a Cisco Prime Infrastructure Ordering and Licensing Guide here.
When you order the licenses for PI 1.2 (new customer), you order the base product and then Lifecycle licenses (required for either PI 1.2 Lifecycle and LMS installations - which option is a customer choice) and, optionally, Compliance and Assurance licenses. An upgrade order for an existing LMS customer will include the base PI 1.2 with Lifecycle licenses as well as LMS in a single SKU as noted in tables 4 and 5 of the Ordering Guide. -
New install with a Cisco Prime Assurance 9.0. I am able to log into the CLI with SSH but the web page using https://IPADDRESS does not give me access - message "This page cannot be displayed". I've restarted the VM and services are running. I installed the provisioning server without issue.

Prime License Manager web page will not load
Hi,
I have a CUCM 10.5(1)SU1 cluster comprising two servers.
I want to use the Prime License Manager on the CUCM Publisher but when I choose the Cisco Prime License Manager link from the Installed Applications page the PLM login page does not appear - all I see is a blank white page - the correct url is shown in the address bar.
It works fine on the CUCM subscriber and on the two Unity Connection servers I have deployed using the same version of software.
I have restarted the CUCM Publisher and tried different browsers on two different PC's with the same result.
Can anyone suggest what else I could try? - running PLM on another server would be difficult to justify to the customer as this is how we have set up the other clusters that we have deployed for them.Hi James,

Conditions:
Attempting to login to Prime License Manager GUI
Workaround:
Regenerate the IPSec certificate on the node that Prime License Manager resides. Restart the DRF Master and DRF Local services (DRF Master can only be restarted if it is a Publisher that PLM co-resides)
Once regenerated and the services restarted you will be able to access the page to login -
ASA 5585-X CX20 Prime Security Manager
Hi Everyone
I'm trying to add our two 5585-X + CX20 units to Cisco Prime Security Manager. The ASAs seem to add correctly but the CX20s appear "undefined" for software version and model. Clicking on "Device Configuration" I get the error "Message From Server: SyntaxError: Unexpected token <"
I've tried removing and re-adding the devices but the same thing happens. Any ideas?
Thanks
JamesTwo contexts are included with the base licensing on the 5585-X. Up to 250 can be licensed.
The SKU (Stock Keeping Unit = part number) for 10 licenses would be ASA-5500-SC10.
FYI. here are all the SKUs for 5585 context licenses (click to enlarge): -
"License" for Prime License Manager
I've just installed Prime License manager and it gets to Demo Mode by default. As per the user guide:
Demo mode in Cisco Prime License Manager refers to the fact that no license file has been installed yet.
During the first license file installation process, Cisco Prime License Manager is registered with the Cisco
licensing back office and is no longer in Demo mode. Product instances managed by Cisco Prime License
Manager are not in compliance as long as Cisco Prime License Manager is in Demo mode. Each product
type (for example, Unified CM, Unity Connection) has its own version of "demo mode" that operates
independently of Cisco Prime License Manager’s Demo mode.
The statement above doesn't seem clear to me. Does PLM require a "PLM" license for it to be fully usable, or does it merely need to add valid licenses for UC instances (CUCM, CUC) for PLM to upgrade from demo mode to fully usable.
Thanks in advance,
CharlesHi,
You mean to say that after you have installed permanent license and is still showing Demo Mode.
Can u try creating separate Product instance and then, check ?
