Cisco Prime Server Specifications

Would anyone happen to know a good server build would be to run Cisco Prime Infrastructure for 5k in network devices.  I can only find VM information and not physcial hardware specifications in regards to this.

Kindly check the following link (Data sheet for PI)
          http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/netmgtsw/ps6504/ps6528/ps12239/data_sheet_c78-729088.html
and you can check the server specification from cisco and follow cisco recommended as best practice

  • Cisco prime 2.1 / 2.2 support for Cisco ise 1.3 ?

Hi, I just tried to connect cisco PI 2.1 to cisco ISE 1.3, but fails.
I read the release Notes, only ISE 1.2 ist supported.
But I was wondering that the ssl handshake fails (I have done a packet capture).
So PI 2.1 has not tried to connect to ise 1.3 via api, because of the connection fails at the ssl handshake stage.
Anyway, does anybody know if ISE 1.3 will be supported with PI 2.2 or a version of PI 2.1.x ?

Why doesn't the REST API communication in Prime 2.1 (2.1.0.0.87) support TLS? The platform itself seem to be able to handle TLS-DHE-RSA with AES-128-CBC-SHA. Why is it trying to use SSLv2 ?
These protocol is incompatible and very much outdated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security#SSL_1.0.2C_2.0_and_3.0
Can this behavour be reconfigured in CLI or at least be allowed in ISE 1.3 to make a workaround until a working patch or upgrade is done? Could or should adding the Cisco Prime server as managed node in ISE circumvent the incompability?

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure version 1.2

    Hello All,
I want to create a filter for the wireless devices so that they are not automatically get discovered during the discovery process of Cisco Prime. so request you to please provide link/solution through which i can create a XML file which i have to upload on the Cisco Prime server.
    Regards,
    ADM

    Hi Anshuman,
Maybe we can both learn something here.
It was my understanding that Wireless Lan Controllers don't get "auto-discovered" during the discovery process.
I talked with a colleague on the team and that was his impression too.
Keep in mind--- as WLCs are added, the APs come in when the respective WLC is added.
    thanks, rob

  • Error coming while installing Cisco Prime 4.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Cisco Prime 4.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2. While initiating the installation, message box "Error: csv not found" appears, and the installation terminates.
Is there any csv template need to be copied at any location before hand?

Are you installaing LMS 4.2.4  directly ?
Looking at the error ,it looks like ...
If yes then  you need to follow the below path:
    The installation path of LMS 4.2.4 : LMS 4.2 > LMS 4.2.2 > LMS 4.2.4

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 on Windows Server/Hyper-V

    Hi Everyone,
In Entriprise environment while designing a BYOD solution we need to integrate ISE3315 with CPI 1.2. I know that Cisco ISE software either runs on 3315 platform or other option is virtual appliance (which is VMware based). Now problem is that we have Hyper-V environment as standard so I need to go with ISE-3315. Here my concern is to I install CPI 1.2 on Hyper-V, or on a Windows Server (2008 or 2012) based machine. Is that doable?
Any help, suggessions would be warmly welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Azhar...

Cisco Prime LMS will slowly be phased out in favor of Cisco Prime Infrastructure and hence there are no new mainline releases are planned to provide support to new Hardware or virtualization support.
However, Prime LMS do support Hyper V Virtualization (As an installable in Windows 2008). Please note that Virtualization technologies like, VMWare and Hyper V virtualization systems are not supported in LMS 5000, and LMS 10000 Devices license, in Windows. VMWare Systems are supported in LMS 5000, and LMS 10000 Devices license in Soft Appliance. • Cisco Prime Infra 1.2 Web server

    Hello,
I have installed a version of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2.11 with a kickstart .ova file on my production network.
Everything goes fine and I follow the instructions for installation ; i can ping my Cisco PI server and ssh into it as admin.
However, when I try to reach the web server via https, it does not work. I have reviewed my proxy settings and they are not to blame. The nslookup returns the IP address when I poll it. I have read elsewhere that I would need "NCS" service to be started, but I can't find anything called NCS on my Prime Infra server in CLI mode.
Anyone with a suggestion for this issue ?
    Thanks
    Jeremy

Actually I know what's happening ; the PnP (plug n play) setup was not configured, and so 443 port was not up.
I configured PnP using "pnp setup" command, but then I have to supply a list of certificates and keys :
Enter absolute pathname of PnP Gateway server key file:
Enter absolute pathname of PnP Gateway server certificate file:
Enter absolute pathname of Prime Infrastructure server certificate file:
I tried to do this with the private key I had for my server. I created it on my Certificate Authentication and got a .key and a .csr (certificate server request).
However when i feed them to my PnP setup I get this error :
    Setup is in progress.......
    Stop PnP Gateway server
OpenSSL command failed for mycert.csr and mykey.key
any idea as to why this is happening?
I read elswhere again that i need to run commands with "ncs" but I don't have "ncs" commands on my prompt...
    Thank you for your time

  • Can Cisco Prime Infra 2.1 work as syslog server

    Hello all,
Customer want Cisco Prime Infra 2.1 to work as syslog server.  they want to query text in syslog and get raw log file from Cisco Prime Infra.  but when i see in user interface.  I think that it cannot query and search text in syslog.  but i am not sure whether we can get raw log file per devices from Cisco Prime Infra.   Can anyone know about this.?
    thanks
    sompoj

    Hi Sompoj,
In the prime infrastructure Syslogs are directly read from udp port 514 and then filtered
, the non SEV1 and SEV2 syslogs will be dropped and will not be entered into db . The
syslog messages will not be saved into log files .
    Thanks-

    3) Is their any deticated applicance from Cisco ??

In addition to the release notes for the 4.2.3 patch noted above, please also see  the 4.2 release notes which further direct you:
    Server and Client Requirements
For information on server and client requirements for the system and browser, see Chapter 2 of Installing and Migrating to Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution 4.2 at:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/install/guide/
    install.html
To summarize the options it describes, you can run the LMS product on any number of platforms - a dedicated Cisco hardware appliance, a physical server of your own with Windows or Solaris OS, a VMware server with a Windows server OS guest, or a "soft appliance". The soft appliance is package built with the underlying guest OS (a customized RHEL distribution with Cisco's Application Development Environment OS (ADE-OS)) built-in.
Once you have installed LMS 4.2, you should patch - first to 4.2.2 and then to the current 4,2,3. then run the software update feature to bring all package components up to date.
Regarding licensing, there is a Cisco Prime Infrastructure Ordering and Licensing Guide here.
When you order the licenses for PI 1.2 (new customer), you order the base product and then Lifecycle licenses (required for either PI 1.2 Lifecycle and LMS installations - which option is a customer choice) and, optionally, Compliance and Assurance licenses. An upgrade order for an existing LMS customer will include the base PI 1.2 with Lifecycle licenses as well as LMS in a single SKU as noted in tables 4 and 5 of the Ordering Guide.

  • How to install cisco prime 2.1 on a empty HP server

    Hi all,
i want to install cisco prime 2.1 using the physical appliance ISO File on a new empty HP Server, because we have no vmware environment.
After booting from the ISO File I receive the error "connot find kickstart file on cdrom". Because of this I am not able to install the software.
I have loaded the ISO image two times from cisco, so im pretty shure that the images is not broken.
    Any Idea?
    Thanks!

If you have control of an HP Server, why don't you load VMware into the server?  PI requires VMware and can't be loaded onto a "bare metal" frame.

  • Cisco Prime TFTP Server Question

Our organization recently installed Cisco Prime 1.3 on a Linux box.  I am used to using the older WCS which also had a built in TFTP server.  The old WCS was installed on a Windows Box and thus I was able to navigate to the TFTP server using Windows Explorer and the UNC path.  However, I cannot seem to access the TFTP server on the new Prime 1.3 server via that method.  I have verified that the TFTP and FTP servers are both enabled in Prime server settings and I have also verified that I can access the FTP port via a PC on the network and that the WLCs on the network are sucessfully backing up to the Prime TFTP server each night.
How can I access the TFTP server to retrieve these WLC backups if needed?

you need to enable root access.  then you can scp the files out of the directory easily enough.
    from cli
    root_enable
    follow prompts
    root
    psswd - set password
should be abel to ssh as root at that point, if you can want to say it's /localdisk/tftp, or just ls /localdisk

  • Cisco Prime syslog server

Where are syslogs stored, if I point my devices to Cisco Prime acting as my syslog server? I am running 2.0
    thanks, Jerry

    Hi ,
As of now , this feature is not available , I mean PI will not work as syslog server.
Syslog messages received by  PI from managed devices are found under Monitor > Alarms and Events > Syslogs
as you are using PI 2.2 , you will be able to see all device syslog messages (0-7 severity)
That display will show you up to 200,000 messages at a time.

  • Is cisco prime infrastructure support / can be run as syslog server?

    Dear All,
is cisco prime infrastructure support / can be run as syslog server?
    and,
where i can see network topology diagram, using cisco prime infrastructure?
    many thanks,
    Jerri

Hello. Cisco Prime LMS will be replaced by Cisco Prime Infrastructure in the near future.
In the current release of Cisco Prime Infrastructure you can't use topology diagrams. This feature is in roadmap.
About syslog, you can send syslogs to Cisco Prime Infrastructure, but I don't recommend using it as syslog server. Please see this link for more information https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2179520

  • Changing server for Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 installation

    Hi,
I am planning to install Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 with 50 device license on a temporary server. My question is:
Can we install Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 on Server A, applied the license for 50 devices, and then several months later we uninstall LMS on Server A, reinstall it on Server B, and applied the same license for 50 users?
Is it possible and legal to do that? I am worry if the LMS license is binding to the first server's MAC address.
    Thanks in advance.

also :vmversion 4.1 and 5.1 both checked, hdd 256, scsi , memory 8 gig,

  • Cisco Prime LMS 4.1, "License Server/Daemon Manager is down."

    Hello,
We having problem with Cisco Prime LMS running version 4.1.
When open Home page shows the next message: "License Server/Daemon Manager is down. Please check license.log for more information." (see attached)
The daemon server is stopped already and i can't restart it, see below:
    C:\>net start crmdmgtd
The Cisco Prime Daemon Manager service is starting.
The Cisco Prime Daemon Manager service could not be started.
The service did not report an error.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.
    Thanks

It looks like you're seeing CSCte49301.  Follow the release note steps to solve this:
    Symptom:
The EssentialsDM daemon hangs in a Waiting to initialize state (as seen in the output of the pdshow command).  Additionally, one might see "Error connecting to JRM" in Resource Manager Essentials applications.
    Conditions:
This occurs on Windows servers after the patch for KB968930 is installed, and only if the Windows Remote Management service was started prior to starting CiscoWorks Daemon Manager.
    Workaround:
Shutdown CiscoWorks Daemon Manager with the following command from the server's command prompt:
    net stop crmdmgtd
    Delete the following two files:
    NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\ctmregistry
    NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\ctmregistry.backup
Restart CiscoWorks Daemon Manager with the following command:
    net start crmdmgtd
If that does not work, then the Windows Remote Management service must be stopped, and disabled.  Then, CiscoWorks Daemon Manager must be restarted.

The hardware meets the requirement. I am confused only with the Windows Server OS part as both documents are contradicting.
