Cisco RV016 und EWE vDSL

Hallo an alle

  • Problem to open ports in Cisco RV016

    Hello everyone,
I have a Cisco RV016 router, with some ports configured in "Setup --> UPnP". Currently I have problems to configure new ports. I can create the service in "Service Management", but when I add this service to the list, I press "Save" and the router close the session. I need to re-login the router, and it don't save the changes.
However, if I add a service that was already exists before having this problems, the router save the changes (But the router close the session too).
The router has the last version of firmware since the first run.
Anyone has the same problem? Or how to solve it?
    Thanks and regards

    Hello,
Yes, I tried with different computers and different browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer). I contact with Cisco Support and their solution is reset the router to factory settings, and configure manually all the options. Is possible that the configuration files are corrupted.
I can't reset it now, when I do I will tell you the result.

  • Cisco RV016 dropping company POP3 connections

I am getting crazy with our Cisco Linksys RV016. It handles 3 simultaneous connections to the internet using 3 ISP.
All  our company goes to the internet using this cisco linksys RV016, our  corporate switches are connected as clients to the router.
Sometime  ago, this router started to drop POP3 connections to our network, when  this problems is present, all users get Receiving' reported error  (0x80042108) in Outlook 2007-2010.
Currently i have setup POP3  service to use the First ISP connection, but when this problem is  present, the only way to eventually resolve it is to switch the link  POP3 Service from the First to the Third ISP, sometimes it works  immediately, sometimes don't.
We are using this router since 2007 but this problems started to arise from this month.
Our switch is the latest firmware available is Cisco website, this is the Firmware Version: 3.0.2.01-tm.
any tip, suggestion, will be really appreciated.
    thanks in advance.
    Sergio.

This issue is getting more strange behaviour. Since Monday, it occurs between 4.30pm and 5.00pm and after about 30  minutes it goes away without my intervention.
Is it the CISCO RV016 throughput maybe ?
Is it because i use Intelligent  Balancer (Auto Mode) on all my 3 WANs? Should i use IP Group by Users instead?
    Thanks,

  • Cisco RV016 making connections drop

    Hi,
My cisco rv016 is currently set to load balance 2 lines and soon 3.
However some connections that are active here are with servers and FTP clients.
With load balancing active it appears that people are getting their sessions timed out rather frequently.
    MySQL database connections
    SSH connections
FTP, SFTP connections are the ones that spring to mine straight away.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

Right now I'm testing on a single access point (autonomous) with WEP! The same laptop works fine without the Cisco client. Usually it is several hours, 12 or more when it happens, but I've seen it less than that. And I've seen it up for over a day and a half. At this point I just don't trust the client to roll out to a larger audience.

  • Cisco RV016 not so Intelligent Balancer

    Hi All,
We have a problem with our Cisco RV016 Routers (we have 12 of them).
Somehow the routers keep switching randomly between internet connections. (2-3 connections per router)
We want to completely disable load balancing and just use the 2nd to 3th internet connection as a failover (when 1st connection is down)
Load balancing breaks the clients session because the ip's switch mid session.
Does anyone have a solution to the problem?
We can't deploy them like this and our distributor does not want to take the unopened boxes with routers back.
    We use:
    Firmware Version : v4.2.2.08 (Apr 26 2013 19:12:26)
    Regards,

    Hi Wouter,
We had the same issue. What I did is create a rule in [System Management] - [Dual WAN] - [WAN 1 --> configuration].
The following rules are in my system:
    All Traffic [TCP&UDP/1~65535]->192.168.1.1~192.168.1.254(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN1 [Enabled]
    All Traffic [TCP&UDP/1~65535]->192.168.1.1~192.168.1.254(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN2 [Enabled]
    The rest of the settings:
    Enable Network Service Detection: Yes
    Retry count: 5
    Retry timeout: 30 seconds
When Fail: Keep the system log and remove the connection
Only [Remote Host] checked with value 8.8.8.8
Especially the setting with the remote host set to 8.8.8.8 is important.
Of course it's possible to set this to the IP address of the modem, but this only works if the complete modem is switched off. To failover when the internet connection is down, setting it to 8.8.8.8 works.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Cisco RV016 2.0.18 firmware VPN timeouts

Hi i have a RV016 with older firmware that when connected to a cisco 1841 via ipsec the cisco tunnel times out and protocol goes down. Im able to pass traffic for about one minute each time its up then goes down. The only way to bring it back up is to initiate the connection on the RV016 or do a shut/no shut on the tunnel interface on the 1841.
I notice that older version of firmware is not even being offered anymore and version 3.0.x fixes a few vpn issues but the release notes dont go into it much.
    thanks, Paul

    Hello Thomas,
In my case, it was pfSense Linux firewall connected to the WRVS4400N...
We changed the ISP modem during the troubleshooting and as a result, the tunnel was always up at both sides. In both modems (the original modem and the new one) we used PPPoE (bridge mode) so there was no reason to have a problem with the first one...
Unfortunately, with the new modem we got another problem:
    - If I try to connect from the pfSense network to the WRVS4400N network I have access all the time
    - If I try to connect from the WRVS4400N network to the pfSense network I am getting "Request timed out". If I do PING x.x.x.x -t for a minute I am getting a reply and the connection works fine. As soon as I stop using the tunnel for more then 5 minutes, the WRVS4400N shows that the tunnel is up but the ping shows again "Request timed out".
As a final solution, we replaced the WRVS4400N with RV-042 and now it works fine at both sides all the time...
So... Sorry but I am done with the WRVS4400N. Do not have time for it.

  • Cisco RV016 Failover & Load Balance Multi WAN Issue

    Hi,
I think the RV016 is the correct device to buy for our small building but I am a little confused from the manual whether my intended configuration is possible, so if you could confirm if this is possible I would appreciate it.
We have a leased line as our primary connection (lets call it WAN1). If this connection is available I don't want to load balance on any other WAN.
We have 2 identical netgear 4G devices (call them WAN 2 and WAN 3). If the leased line is unavailable, I would like to then load balance these two WAN connections.
I then have a final connection, WAN4 as a slow adsl backup line. I do not know at present whether I want to load balance this in a WAN1 failure or just have it as a backup to WAN2 and WAN3 (WAN2 and WAN3 have a 20gb data limit each on their monthly contract allowance, if the leased line is down for more than a couple of days, which has unfortunately happened before, then we will hit this limit and then need to face either extremely expensive data charges or just use the ADSL alone)
Anyway, bottom line is under normal conditions I don't want to load balance. I only want to load balance WAN2 and WAN3 in the case of WAN1 failure.
Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, is there any other similar device which would suit?
    Thank you
    Ben

    Hi Bencarroll01,
With RV016 you can achieve what you need.
RV016 support up to 7 WAN connection, and there is two working mode
Intelligent Balancer (Auto Mode): Select this option to balance traffic between all interfaces to increase the available bandwidth. The router balances the traffic between the interfaces in a weighted round robin fashion.
IP Group (By Users): Select this option to group traffic on each WAN interface by priority levels or classes of service (CoS). With this feature, you can ensure bandwidth and higher priority for the specified services and users. All traffic that is not added to the IP Group uses Intelligent Balancer mode. To specify the services and users, click the Edit icon for the WAN interface and then add protocol binding entries for each service, IP address, or range of IP addresses.
For our case we need to have RV016 configured with IP Group(By User) so in this case we can configure Protocol binding which we can specify and force all the traffic coming from any IP address from the local network going outside through WAN1. and other WAN connection they always UP but not traffic passing through them
now if WAN1 is Down, immediately the Rule for redirecting traffic to WAN 1 will be Disabled and all the traffic will be passing through the rest of the WAN connection
After that if the WAN1 is UP again the rule of protocol binding will be active again and again all the traffic will be through WAN 1
Please let me know if you have any others questions

  • Cisco SRP546W und Telekom Entertain

    Hallo,

  • Cisco RV016

We've just received our RV016 router and I've followed the setup procedures. However it just isn't wanting to work with the WAN connections.
I'm currently connecting through it to a switch onto a different internet connection so it's setup LAN wise.
I was wondering if from your experiences that the issue could be down to the router we're using before using the RV016 as a gateway?
The modem/router we are using is a thomson gateway one that is supplied by the ISP.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated as currently it's in a useless state, thanks.

From your description it seems the RV016 should be set up in "gateway" mode, but I would have assumed that it would be getting an IP address from the thomson DSL modem but you've stated it's set up static.  I also assume you have the RV016 set up as a DHCP server handing out IP addresses to the LAN devices, correct?  I'm not seeing why you would not have Internet connectivity but this is becoming challenging to troubleshoot via this method.  I think you may want to contact the SBSC at this point and speak with an engineer on the phone to help you further diagnose this issue.  You can reach them at the number(s) listed on their page here.

  • WLAN Public IP - Cisco RV016 Multi-WAN VPN Router

Hi, I need to get the public IP address for the WLAN1.
The IT person of my ISP ask me for the public IP address for the WLAN which MAC Address that ends with 63:17 but I can't find it in the configuration utility. How can I get it?
I attached some images so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.
    Thanks!

    Hi Joaquin,
your ISP is  natting on the cable or dsl modem,
for you to get an internet address, call them and ask them to put the modem in "bridge mode" or ask them to give you an internet accessible address.
    That should do it.
    Good luck,
    Dan

  • Port forwarding RV016

    Hello to all cisco experts!!
Hi guys im new here, I need ur help, I've got a Cisco small business router RV016.  At first I have no problem in port forwarding because our first ISP install with simply  DSL broadband modem, for some issue on our first ISP, our company acquire a new DSL connection on a different ISP.  My problem now is our second ISP install to us a DSL modem with 4 ports built-in router so how can I forward a port for our Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) in our Cisco RV016 while the Public IP address is in the Second ISP router.  I know I can use the port forwarding feature on our Second ISP router, but I would like to use the port forwarding in our Cisco RV016 because we also use the the VPN client access feature in our Cisco RV016.
Is there a way to solve my problem guys? I highly appreciate all your helps, thanks in advance.
    Ricardo Trupa

    Ricardo,
My name is Ismael. Iam with Small Business Support center and do appreciate you reaching out to us. From what you have described to us is that you having issue with port forwarding with RDP (3389). I am also understanding that you have a Modem/router combo from ISP and then the RV016.
For port forwarding to work, you need two rules one on your modem/router  and one on your RV016 . So its source ip address will be the LAN of this modem and destination is WAN ip address of the RV180. Another rule is then configured on RV180 WAN pointing to LAN of the internal device  you trying to reach. So its source ip will be the WAN on RV016 and destination will be LAN ip address of the internal device you trying to reach. This type of double port forwards can be complex and unstable.  So if your network allows for configuration changes then you modem can be set to bridge mode, to simplify things and have them working for you all the time.
The single port forward can still be done, but it would require for your ISP to fully bridge your Modem. This will allow for RV016 to receive a public ip on WAN1. Once bridged only one rule is required on your RV016. Hope this helps you.

  • RV016 (V3) tcp and udp outgoing traffic issue

    Hi everyone.
I've got a CISCO RV016 connected to a tooway SAT modem and need  to reach another router connected in DSL
I need to make a TCP connection on port 8080 with my audio codec to reach the other side, and get audio.
I do not feel comfortable with all the security process, firewall, forwarding port and so on ...
What do I need to do to make the RV016 let the TCP out ?
do I need to create rules ?  do I need to modify the firewall factory settings ?
does UDP outgoing traffic need some rules too ?
    Thank's for your help.

  • RV016 VLAN

Have the Cisco RV016. One single internet access on WAN1. LAN1 connected to a 24-port ethernet switch. Connected to LAN8 is our customer wifi access unit. To separate the public wifi, I set LAN8 to VLAN2. LAN1 is set to VLAN1. How can I set this router to let me access from a computer on the LAN1 (VLAN1) to the Wifi Unit on LAN8 (Vlan2). This configuration has successfully kept the public out of the company network, but has resulted in no access for me to the wifi unit for administration from my desktop.
    Thanks,
    Mike

This unit supports port base vlan, it won't route the vlan's between. The router does not support 802.1q nor does it support SVI.

  • RV016 incomming sip-requests filtering

    Good day,
i have a trouble setting up Cisco RV016 router to correctly handle SIP requests.
    Here what i have:
    LAN - 10.1.0.0/24
    10.1.0.1 - LAN IP of RV016
10.1.0.2 - IP on NIC of software IP-PBX "3CX Phone SYSTEM"
RV016 have two WAN interfaces configured, to work with different ISP's.
I also have an VoIP service provider somewhere throught the internet, who is handlling both incomming and outgoing calls.
In order for incomming VoIP-calls to work correctly, i made some port-forwarding rules:
SIP -  all incomming connections to WAN interface and destination port 5060 are translated to the 10.1.0.2
RTP - all incommming connections to WAN interface, and destination ports 9000-9015 are translated to the 10.1.0.2
It works fine, but with one very unpleasant fact - everybody from the internet can send SIP-register requests to my IP-PBX, so in a short time i have non-stop "register" attempts from different IP's. I tried to make some Firewall Access rules, but RV016 just ignores them, when Port-Forwarding rule is applied.
In previous solution i used, there was the simple possibility to make rule to allow incoming connection on WAN port just from the single source IP-address, but, sadly, RV016 doesn't have such a feature.
    Here what is the question:
What should i do? I can't leave the situation as it is, but i really don't want to change the router.
Can someone please help me with advice?

Here is an example showing how to add access rules on top of a port forwarding rule.
When an Access Rule is  defined on top of a port forwarding rule (e.g. SSH service), you want to  first add a Deny rule to deny all IP addresses coming from the WAN side  and then add an Allow rule to allow specific IP address entering from  the WAN side.
Allow      SSH       WAN1     [specific IP]     [private address]
Deny      SSH       WAN1     Any                 [private address]
