Cisco rv130w wmm powersave

Windows 8.1, 32bit, fully patched
Realtek RTL8723BS Wireless LAN 802.11n SDIO Network Adapter, driver version 3007.9.1015.2014
Cisco RV130W, firmware version 1.0.1.3
Despite of the fact that the Cisco RV130W small business router (certified by Wi-Fi Alliance to properly support WMM Power Safe) has been configured to enable WMM Power Save, a 'powercfg -energy' trace claims :
"Platform Power Management Capabilities:Wireless access point does not support WMM Power Save
The wireless access point that the computer is connected to does not support WMM Power Save Mode. The Wi-Fi modem cannot enter Power Save mode to save energy as defined in Wireless Adapter Power Policy."

Hi,
Yes, as you mentioned, the following document from Cisco indeed claims that this device supports WMM Power Save mode
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/small-business-rv-series-routers/datasheet-c78-731522-00.html
While, we're not familiar with configuration for the device, it's recommended to contact the Cisco supoort to make sure that you have a correct configuration about WMM power save.

  • Cisco RV130W VPN firewall problems

    Dear Supports:
I am newbie with Cisco, and I bought a Cisco RV130W wireless VPN router last week but
I got same problem with this router.
1)I have installed a DHCP server in our internal network so I have disabled the DHCP
service under network > LAN > LAN configuration > Server Settings(DHCP), but after
this action, all of our wireless device can not get IP again, finally I have
enabled the DHCP relay and put the DHCP server IP to "Remote DHCP Server" field, and
the problem seems fixed, may I know I have take a right action ? And if the answer
is yes, what is the usage for the DHCP Server "Disable" option ?
2)When I set DHCP to Disable, I find that dashboard still showing that the DHCP
server still in "Enabled" status (Dashboard right top corner > LAN (local network)
Interface > DHCP Server: Enabled), may I know it is a firmware bug or just some
    setting I missed ?
3)WiFi signal is weak but I can not find any setting to control signal strong, some
times the SSID disappeared, finally I find that because I placed a Ext. USB 3.0 HDD
aside the router, after I remove the HDD and the SSID never disappear again, but I
don't know why this case happened and how can I prevent those case happened again?
4)In dashboard I find that VPN server > PPTP User: 0/1 , but in user manual I also
find that PPTP VPN > 10 PPTP tunnels for remote client access, may I know in
actually the router supports 1 or 10 PPTP user(s) ?
5)The PPTP VPN will disconnect automatically after connected 10~15 mins, I have try with 2 android device , one is running android 4.2 with native VPN client , and another one is running android 4.4.2 with apps "VpnRoot" , can you let me some hints how to trace and fix the problem ?
Thank for the support and I am wait for the reply , thanks.

This document demonstrates how to configure a connection between a router and the Cisco VPN Client 4.x using Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) for user authentication. Cisco IOS? Software Releases 12.2(8)T and later support connections from Cisco VPN Client 3.x. The VPN Clients 3.x and 4.x use Diffie Hellman (DH) group 2 policy. The isakmp policy # group 2 command enables the VPN Clients to connect.

  • SOLUTION: WMM power management not working with Realtek Wifi drivers (W8.1x64)

I'm posting this solution for anybody who might want a fix for this.
if you run powercfg.exe -energy in Windows 8.1 and view the report it makes, you will see a warning in the log that says:
"Wireless Access Point does not support WMM Powersave mode"
I do not see this warning on another laptop I have (Samsung) which uses an Intel 6230 wifi card.  So I did some digging.
At first, I thought it was the router (ASUS RT-AC68P)  but realized that WMM was enabled on the router.  Since the Samsung notebook didn't have the problem it was obviously driver related.
Unfortunately the drivers supplied by HP and the drivers avaialble as part of "Windows Update" from MS don't address the problem.  Even if you change advanced settings for the wificard from "Performance" to "Wireless" the warning persists.
I wound up doing a clean install of W8.1 Update 1 to rid my PC of bloatware, and in the process fixed the issue with "Wireless Access Point does not support WMM Powersave mode"
The default inbox drives from Microsoft work correctly and allow the router to put the wifi card to sleep when no packets are being transmitted
Recently I went to Windows update and noticed there was an updated driver - I downloded it and the problem came back.
I went to device manager, double clicked the wifi card, went to the driver tab, and selected 'rollback driver'.
    Problem is resolved again.
Went back to Windows Update and it showed the realtek driver in the optional tab again - right click on it and "hide update".
    Solved.
I have noticed no issues with wifi speeds, but I think the battery *is* lasting longer (only tested for a few days); not by much, but a little.  Wifi speeds are top-notch, no buffering or latency issues with any web streaming or downloading

I doubt it but there's always a possibility of a bad card.  I assume that you've tried multiple routers?  Gone to starbucks and same thing?  See if when you uninstall the drivers if windows will automatically find a driver and give that a shot.  Off hand I can't think of any software related issues with the Wifi as mine has worked fine since day one.

  • RV130W: 4 devices need to use the same ports.

I just started a video game streaming business and have 4 video game consoles connected and able to play online at the same time on my recently purchased Cisco RV130W.
There's only 2 games currently that we are streaming but NAT seems to be a really big issue and is causing connection problems.
I've tried leaving this in the hands of UPnP but it seems that this is an issue that cannot be resolved so simply.
All 4 consoles are Sony PS4s and to connect and play online I need them all to have access to the following ports:
    TCP Outbound
    TCP Inbound
    UDP Outbound
    UDP Inbound
    80, 443, 1935, 3074-3077, 3478-3481,7500-17899, 10040-10060, 30000-40399
    80, 443, 1935, 3074-3077, 3478-3481, 9293, 10040-10060
    2001, 3074-3077, 3478-3481, 6000-7000, 10070, 50000-60000
    2001, 3074-3077, 3478-3481, 6000-7000, 10070, 50000-60000
At best, I've got a NAT Type 2/Moderate... at worst, I can't even connect.
To answer any questions that may be coming up or rule out any suggestions I have already tried...
All devices on the LAN have a static DHCP address.
Only one console works perfectly with UPnP.
The DMZ can fix one console but makes the NAT or the other 3 unusable.
You can't forward the same ports to 4 different devices so I have to rule that out.
Port triggering doesn't work because [I am guessing] the TTL on the packets must be too long and is still hogging the ports while other consoles are trying to send data.
I made a separate VLAN20 for the consoles so I could unblock all outbound and inbound traffic with a firewall rule and that didn't fix it.  ...that's why I think this is a NAT/PAT issue.
I used to be able to get 2 consoles working with my Asus RT-N56U using only UPnP.
All help is appreciated.  I will provide whatever other info you need.
    Thank you in advance.

UPnP seems to be implemented very differently with the vendors
I would see if disabling the following on the firewall helps under Basic Settings
as they may also be part of the issue,
I know that Xbox Live likes to be able ping the wan IP, as for the PS I'd bet things are similiar
    DoS Protection
    Block WAN Ping Request
    IPv4 Multicast Passthrough:(IGMP Proxy)
IPv4 Multicast Immediate Leave:(IGMP Proxy Immediate Leave)
    UPnP Allow Users to Configure
UPnP Allow Users to Disable Internet Access
I know that Open Nat for Xbox is something you don't actually want,
as the ones who have open nat end up getting all the traffic, and they are the ones that get laggy
Unless the game they are playing has to be the server host there is no choice for the most part
Also, on most routers in regards to gaming, I've found that one should use UPnP or Port Triggering, but not both at the same time

  • Linksys RE1000 unstable

I have been having problems with this range extender for several days now and it is very frustrating.
I have a Sagemcom F@st 2864 router (Connection Hub) with Bell Canada. The router is broadcasting at 2.4GHz with Auto B/G/N, Channel 11, Bandwidth 20Mhz, Transmit Power 100%, WMM Enabled, WMM Powersave Enabled, WPA2-PSK (AES).
I have my RE1000 set to a static IP address (192.168.2.100), all default QoS settings, etc. It also has the latest firmware.
I have two laptops (Wireless N), a Blackberry Torch (N), iPad (N), Desktop (N), Blu-Ray player (N), iPod Touch (G) and a WES610N access point (using static IP 192.168.2.12; Xbox360, Wii, BluRay player connected to it), all connected wirelessly. I have another desktop connected directly to router via Ethernet cable.
The RE1000 will be stable for several hours (10hrs today) and then all the wireless devices will go haywire. My laptop will continuously connect and disconnect and the WES610N will do the same.
I have tried different channels, setting the router to both N-only and G-only but the issue keeps happening.
The RE1000 has 4 bars (green) strength and 3 bars (yellow) quality.
Is my product defective? Why is it that it is only stable for a limited period of time? Does the iPad or iTouch have anything to do with this issue??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As you mentioned in your post that if you connect the computer with the router's network it connects with 4 bar but gets intermittent connection. So first of all do the following steps on the router:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
    # Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1492 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 75
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
After configuring the router then reconfigure the RE1000. So for that check the Router's DHCP client table it will show the RE1000 IP address and then configure the RE1000 again… Here is the link for the configuration of the RE1000…
    http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=3760&userrole=Linksy...
Wireless settings in RE1000 will be same as router… In order to get the best performance from an RE1000 you need to place the extender in an area where you still have at least 50% signal strength to your router when you place it in the final location where the RE1000 will be used. Once after the configuration of the RE1000 try to connect the wireless laptop and check the connectivity…
Secondly in the DHCP client table the client name shows up with the Device name and not the Wireless Network Name…

    Hi!
I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...

    Hi!
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by  DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4  ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
    Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4  ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?

  • Cisco Flex 7500 controller with client disconnects

    Hey All,
There will be alot of info in this post, hopefully all helpful, more info the better right!  If you require anymore info to help me out to not hesistate to request it.
We have been having some issues with clients connecting and disconnecting several times a day and having to manually reconnect from the icon on their taskbar. We have about 380 APs, and 200+ more to deploy that we have and are licensed for but are having some issues that we want to resolve first obviously.
Some locations our setup is a bit more complex than this with multiple SSIDs and vlans, but this issue is everywhere so i will keep it to our simple setup for now:
AP Models: AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9, AIR-CAP1602I-A-K9 (Most locations do not have a mix of both, most have 1042s)
Running a single SSID - WPA/WPA2 with: WPA - TKIP and WPA2 - AES on the same SSID.
They talk back to a Cisco Flex 7500 Series through a tunnel (should not be any port blocking preventing communication)
We are running from what i understand a bad firmware version (7.6.100.0) and during our next maintenance window i am going to try and get them to change to a more stable firmware version.
Data Rates of 1,2,5.5,11 Mbps are disabled
    TPCv1 coverage running
    Automatic Power Assignment
I will not focus on the a/n/ac network as most of our devices are connecting to WPA due to the config they already have.
Ideally i would like to get rid of WPA all together but i am not 100% in control of the decisions to get the started and people here like to delay things lol.
It is hard to say if the issue is specific to a model as we have so few 1602Is, and it is just at our main office.  I have not heard many complaints but i have noticed i will now and then get a limited or no connectivity settings on my wireless icon on my PC.  I use hard-wired so i don't really notice if it is not working.
In most locations it looks like the controller is doing a decent job at selection channels to use. I did find one spot where it had on 11 APs down a long hallway, and did not use channel 6 once. I statically set that location to stagger the channels to see what kind results we had and am still waiting to hear on that as they complained the most out of all of our locations. In some cases 3 APs in a row were on channel 1 in the hallway, in alot of casses 1 was 2 times in a row as well as 11 so there was alot of overlap.
I am attaching my show sysinfo and show wlan 17 for that informtion, some of the other settings i have changed today that were previously enabled/set different are:
    Disabled Cisco Aironet IE
Set channel automatic rescan from 10 mintues to 12 hours as i can image if it is changing the channels alot it can lead to disconnects.
Some of the main things we get in our message log are:
    *dot1xMsgTask: Oct 16 15:17:36.943: #DOT1X-4-MAX_EAPOL_KEY_RETRANS: 1x_ptsm.c:508 Max EAPOL-key M5 retransmissions exceeded for client 84:85:06:0b:a6:33
        - Not sure why we get this as we have a PSK and do not have local eap enabled.....
    *apfMsConnTask_6: Oct 16 15:19:01.753: #APF-3-AID_UPDATE_FAILED: apf_80211.c:6570 Error updating Association ID for REAP AP Clientc8:f9:f9:2b:fd:50 - AID 4
    *apfMsConnTask_6: Oct 16 15:19:01.753: #LWAPP-3-INVALID_AID2: spam_api.c:1462 Association identifier 4 for client 18:9e:fc:4d:9e:87 is already in use by 8c:2d:aa:b7:70:5e
        - There is a bug for this log, but according to the bug our 7.6.100.0 is not effected

As long as you take the configuration backup downgrading from 7.6.100.0 to 7.4.121.0 should be fine. Because this is Flexconnect deployment, make sure you review the release notes thoroughly as config like vlan mapping is impacted it is painful to reconfigure.
I still think moving to 7.6MR3 & once 8.x get stable going for that code is a good plan. Though 7.4.121.0 is assure wave it does not mean it has no bugs.(remember that prior to this 7.4.110.0 was assure wave & it deferred in quick time) . I would say 8.x going to be the code staying for long time period, so ultimately you have to be there.
In 8.x there are few FlexConnect improvements, one being AP won't reload when you change from local mode to FlexConnect.

  • Small Sales Office with Cisco 857W and Wireless Skype Handset

I have a remote sales office which is connected to the internet via a Cisco 857W. One of the sales guys uses a Skype Wireless Handset. I am looking to improve the quality of the handset as much as I can with the local wireless network in the 857W. The handset has WMM (802.11e) and uses ports 1 (alternative ports 80 and 443). My question is how do I enable WMM (802.11e) on this router and how do I or should I give priority to these ports to improve call quality? Config file attached.
    thanks in advance,
    stuart.

I'm not an expert on this subject but this link could help.

  • Cisco ISE 1.2 & Cisco WLC 5508 v7.6

    Hi all,
we are planning to upgrade our WLC to 7.6 to fix a bug with FlexConnect Client ACLs but I have just seen on the Cisco ISE Compatibility table that the it only recommends up to v7.5 of the WLC 5508...
Cisco have told me to steer clear of 7.5 as it is in a defferred status, so does anyone know, or have running in a lab or production, ISE1.2 with a 5508 WLC v7.6 NAD ?
I would much rather know of any issues people are experiencing before hand than to have to go through a software upgrade and then rollback.
    Thanks all
    Mario De Rosa

    Hi Neno,
right I have this almost working now.
I have simplified the setup. I am not going to do any client provisioning at the moment.
So I can connect to the corporate SSID using EAP-TLS and I can successfully push the branch data VLAN upon successful authorisation.
Now I am trying to introduce the posture element & per user ACLs.
I have defined the redirect ACL & Flex ACL on the vWLC however the NAC agent will not pop-up. The client is in the right VLAN and the redirect ACL seems to be getting applied as the client does get an IP through DHCP. However, the client cannot ping the ISE or access the guest portal when I open the browser.
DNS resolution seems to be working fine.
VLAN220 is my datacentre VLAN which the Management Interface on the controller is plugged in to.
VLAN10 is the branch DATA VLAN.
below is some output to give you some more details...

  • Cisco WLC 2500 - 802.1x with Vasco Radius SMS OTP

    Hello folks,
I have what seems to be a complex implementation with many things that need to be done on a customers network and I wanted to be pointed in the right direction.
The current scenario is such, the customer has a Cisco WLC 2500 device that has 3 access points(these are in the same AP group) connected to it. There is one SSID that I will call PRODUCTION here that some domain users use to connect to the local network. The customer has requested to have a GUEST SSID added to the WLC where guest users will connect to and recieve a SMS OTP for authentication.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I will obviously need to segment the SSIDs to have them running on different subnets to ensure that guest users do not have access to the production network once they authenticate. In order to do this I will need to configure Dynamic VLAN assignment for the Cisco WLC and connect it to a 802.1x port on the switch.
Now what is not clear is I am not interested in authenticating the users that connect via "Production SSID" and want to bypass authentication for those users and have them assigned to the default vlan (or maybe perhaps have them authenticate via LDAP on the AD), however I want to force the "GUEST" SSID users to authenticate so that they may recieve an SMS OTP (reason for this is to force guests to register their phone numbers to use the internet so that Illegal activity may be tracked).
1)So would it be possible to bypass authentication(or authenticate them via LDAP) for the PRODUCTION SSID as only domain users would know the SSID password to log on and have them by default assigned to the production subnet (default vlan) but force the GUEST SSID users to another VLAN via 802.1x sms otp?
2)*Important* Another issue that is not clear is will I be able to directly configure AAA Radius settings on the Cisco WLC to directly authenticate with the VASCO Radius OTP and recieve a challenge-response(required for OTP) during authentication? As I have seen from Ciscos Dynamic VLAN assignment docuementation (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008076317c.shtml) additional IETF Radius Perimeters are used such as Tunnel-Private-Group-ID etc are used which I can't seem to configure on the Vasco.
I do beileve this is a great project in helping me understand the INs and OUTs of CISCO WLC as well as Wireless NAC, If anyone could enlighten me and point me in the right direction I would be forever in debt. Much appreciated.
    Best Regards

On your WLAN you can enable AES and TKIP. Just know that some clients mau have issue when they see both TKIP and AES. Ive had pretty good success with this in the past. Dont forget, you also need to enable WMM allowed to get N rates.
But you will need to configure AES on the client as well to support N rates.

  • Cisco WLC 7.5 Anchor w/Bonjour/Airplay AppleTV

    Good Morning everyone,
I'm trying to get a 5508 (foreign) and a 2504 (anchor) on 7.5 to work with AirPlay.   It's a single SSID/subnet, nothing to fancy other then the anchor.  The anchor is providing the wlan for internet access, while the clients (ipad mini and appletv) are connected via wireless on ap off of the foreign controller.
In mDNS, I can see the Apple-TV.local. being advertised on the foreign controller, but the Ipad does not pick it up.
    Anchor/DMZ Controller WLAN Config:
Very basic: wpa2-psk, AVC Profile, WMM, Bronze QoS, Aironet IE, mDNS Snooping ON, mDNS Profile default-mdns-profile.
Interface set for mDNS Profile default-mdns-profile
    Foreign Controller WLAN Config
Very basic: wpa2-psk, AVC Profile, WMM, Bronze QoS, Aironet IE, mDNS Snooping ON, mDNS Profile default-mdns-profile. (tried with this off on foreign)
Interface set for mDNS Profile default-mdns-profile (tried with this off on foreign, as it's not the same vlan since it's anchored to a dmz controller)
    AppleTV lattest greatest (wireless)
    Ipad Mini 7.03 (wireless)
    Any ideas?

while the clients (ipad mini and appletv) are connected via wireless on ap off of the foreign controller.
//Apple TV should be WIRED on Anchor WLC.
    Setup:
    w.less ipad client(guest wlan map to mgmt)---AP---Foreign=====Anchor(guest wlan map to vlan10)---switch(Access vlan10)---ATV(wired)

  • Cisco WRV210 unable to reset

I have a Cisco WRV210 wireless router that wont boot correctly after enabling WMM, problem is that after I enabled WMM and router rebooted I only see the power led and DMZ led on but not the wireless led and Internet led. I tried using the reset switch several times and nothing worked. Should I dispose of it and buy a new router or is this one still repairable?

    Alvaro,
Please call support since the router is still under warranty.

  • Cisco 5508 and Ipads

    We have cisco 5508.
We had problems with the connection of the first and second iPad version. Firmware: 7.0.235.3. Putting firmware 7.x. we can not because we have a point of 1310. But we put the firmware 7.2 ipad still have not get wireless. Then we rolled back.  It is interesting that not only work the first and second iPads. All the above works.  Played with TKIP instead of AES, did not help ...
    P.s. iphone works.

  • Is Cisco ever going to address the fact the E1200 does not support Wireless-N speeds at all!

When is Cisco ever going to address despite the touted speeds on their product packaging and what they claim wherever they sell the product that the E1200 with latest or earlier firmwares do not support Wireless-N speeds and usually gets under 1Mbps which is ridiculous?
Why is Cisco still selling this inferior product if they know it doesn't work and they have not patched it?

Extremely high volumes of connections can affect the speed of your own Internet connection. Did you already verify the connection straight to the modem? If that is working fine, then I firmly believed router is the issue here. Well there is lot of factors affecting slow speed with the router, that maybe cause by a corrupted firmware. BTW, what’s the version number of this router? If it’s already on the latest firmware, what I can suggest is to reset and reconfigure this device. You might as well disable WMM (it’s recommended for version 2 having this issue). My friend and I fix her problem with version when we disable WMM.
