Cisco's X2 10GE module and SDH STM64 (I-64.1) framing

Which Cisco's X2 10GE module is compatible with STM64 I-64.1 interface on transmission equipment?
It should be the X2-10GB-LR module, but Cisco's website does not say anything explicitly. For XFP modules, Cisco documentation state that they are compatible with STM-64 data rate.

  • Configuring - Cisco 2921 with Switch Module/POE PS and 3750-x 24 port switch

    This is what I have
    - Cisco 2921 router
             with SM-ES2-24-P switch module and
                     POE power supply
    -Cisco 3750x- 24 port Switch
I have port G1/0 (which connects to 24p Switch Module port g0/26 logically) configured with 3 sub interfaces (management, User and VOIP)
I want to connect 3750x to G0/1 on 2921 via fiber GBIC but want to use same three VLANs
I can not daisy chain 3750x via the switch module because it does not have fiber port.
I do not want to create another routed (g0/1) interface because I want to keep Users on both switches on the same subnet without further splitting the subnet in two.
I hope I am not making this confusing.
How can I bridge g1/0 and g0/1 so I can pass vlan traffic between two switches?
Second problem i have is ...
I have a VOIP connected to switch module (SM) and it is not getting any power.
I went in to all the interfaces on SM and issued power inline auto command
On the SM (sh power inline) - available is 0.0(w)
on the 2921 (sh power inline)
       - power supply status is good,
       - maximun power available is 280.
       - interface G1/0( which connects to SM)
          *device is unknown
          * powered off
         * allocated 0.0 watts.
    I already tried resetting SM
Is there any other command I need to issue?
    thanks for your help.

I'm having a similar issue. I can get trunked connectivity between the switch module and the router if I put the IP address on the router sub interface, but not if I put it on a VLAN interface. I was hoping to have it on a VLAN sub interface on the router so I could use Gig0/1 and Gig0/2 to connect other switches and have them on the same VLANs. I'm using Gig1/0 on the router side and Gig0/51 on the switch side (48-port module).
Any help? Am I on the wrong track altogether?

  • VSS on 6800 using mix 10GE modules

    Hello,
We are about to set up two Cisco 6800 running VSS across them.
I have read and I quote ¨ VSLs can be configured with up to eight links between the two switches across any combination of line cards or supervisor ports to provide a high level of redundancy.¨
    Each switch come with a VS-S2T-10G(2 x 10GbE) supervisor and a WS-X6704-10GE module card.
My questions is: Can I use one port from the each supervisor and one port from each module card to create the VSLs with no issue? Please see the attached image as reference.
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
6704 module can't be configured as part of a VSL link. There is 6708 and 6716 that support VSL.
    VSL Hardware Requirements
The VSL EtherChannel supports only 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports. The 10-Gigabit Ethernet port can be located on the supervisor engine module or on one of the following switching modules:
    •WS-X6708-10G-3C or WS-X6708-10G-3CXL
    •WS-X6716-10G-3C or WS-X6716-10G-3CXL

This is a futile attempt what you and/or your boss are trying to do.  Let me explain:
    1.  The line card is identified as a WS-X4548-RJ45V+.  It DOES NOT and WILL NOT say it is a "WS-X4548-RJ45V+E".  You know why not?  Because THERE IS NO SUCH MODEL as a "WS-X4548-RJ45V+E".  The 45XX line card does NOT come in an "E" model.   So you CANNOT install the line card into slots 8, 9 and 10 (because the line card is a CLASSIC line card).
    2.  Next, you CANNOT use a WS-X4548-RJ45V+ line card on a 4510R-E chassis.  It is INCOMPATIBLE.
    3.  Let's say I'm wrong and you have an "E" model of a "WS-X4548-RJ45V+".   You still will NOT be able to use it in your existing chassis.  Why?  Because current line card populations, where you have FIVE (5) 48-port line cards already, has hit the limit of your Sup6E/LE of 240-ports per chassis.   As I've said in two previous responses (this will be the third response of the same thing), Sup6E/LE has a hard-coded limitation of 240 ports per chassis.  And you've hit it.  The Sup6E/LE was NEVER meant to "live" in a chassis larger than a 4507.    And why NOT?  Because there is a "hidden" documentation that the Sup6E/LE line card has a limit of 240-ports.  This means that if you stick this line card into a fully-populated 4510 chassis, slots 8, 9 and 10 CANNOT be used, classic line card or not.
The "E" marking on the right-hand side of the line card means that the line card CAN BE supported in any "-E" or "+E" chassis.  It's got nothing to do with the category of line card.   The most important  (technical) marking of this line card is the one on the left-hand side, the exact model number.  This is what every network engineer wants to see.  The right-hand marking is an addition meant to confused people.
Present the following options to your boss:
    1.  Do nothing; or
    2.  Upgrade your line card to Sup7/Sup8 and you can get slots 8, 9 and 10 functional (and increase the port count per chassis from 240 ports to 384 ports); or
    3.  Get another chassis.
I'm sorry to be brutally honest here.  Someone will need to confess up to your boss the following items:
Someone has purchased the WRONG LINE CARD.
Your current supervisor card, Sup6E/LE, has a hard-set limit of 240 ports (deal with it & move on).
We can all debate on what is written on the card, the conflicting information/data found in Cisco documentation, the colour of the sky, or the sum of "1+1=21".  At the end of the day, the simple facts won't change.
I encourage you to get a "second-opinion" by raising a Cisco TAC Case out of this thread.

  • SNMP Trap modules and env

    Hi,
I would like to know what the equivalent command to enable snmp traps module and env in IOS XR.
The IOS command is like below :
    snmp-server   enable traps module
snmp-server enable traps envmon fan shutdown supply temperature status
i could not find similar command in IOS XR. is it the same with "snmp-server traps system" in IOS XR ?

    Hey,
You will need to configure "snmp-server traps sensor" to enable the traps under the CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB. You can use the following docs to check whether these are supported on your XR platform.
For ASR9k, (table 3-2 lists the supported Traps on the ASR9k),
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/asr9000/mib/guide/asr9kmib3.html#wp1602338
    For the GSR XR,
    ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/supportlists/xr12000/xr12000-supportlist.html
    For the CRS-1,

  • 3945 Router Issue between WAAS Module and IOS Firewall

I have a new 3945 router with a SM-SRE-900 module for WAAS. The 3945 also has IP inspection configured. When IP inspection and WCCP redirection running at the same time, user connections to data center were all lost. If just IP inspection or WCC Rredirection but not both, user connections were good.
I'm feeling the problem is IP inspection not WAAS aware. I tried "ip inpsect waas enable", but the command was not available. The 3945 router, SM-SRE module, and the IOS code, are all newest versions. So I was wondering if anyone has seen the similar issues and had experience of enabling WAAS through IP inspection on those new products.
    Here is the configuration info:
    3945 G2 ISR: IOS 15.1(1)T1;
    SM-SRE-900: WAAS 4.2.3 build7;
3945 LAN interface: ip inspection in and ip wccp 61 redirect in
3945 WAN interface: ip wccp 62 redirect in
3945 SM 1/0 interface: internal connection to SM-SRE module
Between 3945 and SM-SRE module: WCCP GRE redirection and IP Forwarding return.
If you are aware of any 15.1(1)T1 bugs that may be related, please let me know too.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
This is in general for IOS / ISR. On CCO we have a very good document for ZBFW and WAAS intigration, see below
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/sec_data_plane/configuration/guide/sec_zone_polcy_firew_ps10592_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1118498
If you still need to run CBAC, then recommended solution in my first post should work for you.
If the router is in the middle of TCP optamization path, then depending upon optamization product you need to configure the firewall feature like anyother firewall. for Cisco WAAS we have "ip inspect WAAS enable".
Hope this has answer your question. Thanks.

  • Difference between ACE module and ACE appliance

    Hi All,
Can someone help to understand the difference between ACE module and ACE appliance, as i am observing ACE module is providing more throughput when compared the ACE appliance, Is the only advantage we getting with contexts ....
    thanks inadvance,
    Narayana Mallidi

    Hi Narayan,
Apart from providing throughput, ACE module has more to offer ,
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Application_Control_Engine_%28ACE%29_Troubleshooting_Guide_--_ACE_Resource_Limits
The above link will provide a comparision of ACE module and Ace appliance interms of scalability. Apart from that legacy modules wont support compression, but ACE 30 module can support compression.
The major advantage of ACE 30 module is with resepct to SSL throughput, SSL TPS, L4 & L7 CPS, & Concurent Connections per second, apart from the increased contexts

  • Cisco 3845 Onboard VP Module Capability

I have a Cisco 3845 router with on-board VPN module. I wonder whether I can use it for IpSec encryption of my 50 Mbps ethernet line. What is the maximum capacity of the on-board VPN module? When I send "sh crypto eli" command, it says mx IKE session is 700 and max IPSEC-Session is 1400. Any comment will be highly appreciated.

Yes you can use the VPN module and it's maximum throughput is 180Mbps. Here's a link for reference.

  • Memory modules and hard drive not recognized

I removed and reinserted the factory installed Satellite L505D-LS5007 laptop hard drive and memory modules just as practice for installing a hard drive upgrade and an 8GB memory upgrade. The problem is obviously with the memory and not with the hard drive.
After the first practice try, one memory module was recognized. Also for a few seconds after the first practice try, I ran the PC with the battery installed, but no memory installed. I did not look in the User's Guide first to see that I should have removed the battery before removing the memory.
Now the System Indicator Lights for the HDD Activity and Memory Card Reader do not light up. The PC turns on and the display is solid black with no messages.
Before buying new memory modules, what possible ways might there be to get the PC to recognize the factory installed memory modules and hard drive again?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When troubleshooting, I always change one variable at a time. I would hate to miss a solution by being in a hurry. In this case, you may have damaged either the RAM or the RAM slot. I would stick with the Toshiba specifications for the RAM, making sure it is the correct size, speed and type recommended. I also recommend that when you replace the RAM that both modules be from the same manufacturer, size, and specification. Try one RAM module in one slot and then the other. And then try both RAM modules in both slots. After the testing you should be able to figure if this is a RAM problem or a RAM slot problem.
In the case of hard drives, the real test is whether or not the Bios sees the hard drive. If the Bios doesn't see the hard drive, it's not going to work. The Bios should see the hard drive whether or not the hard drive is partitioned, formatted or has data on it. My experience has been that many Toshiba laptops will work fine with larger capacity hard drives provided they are the same speed in RPMs, have the same interfacing connection and physically the same size.
Again, prior to doing any work on your computer, make sure that both the AC power has been disconnected and the battery has been removed. Be careful out there. A blown repair job by a non-Toshiba tech is NOT covered under warranty.

    Lalu R.S

There's not much of that sort of functionality built into the ASA 5505 entry level firewall. To do that sort of thing in the firewall, you would have to move up to one of the newer 5500-X series with next generation firewall features and build a policy using Application Visibility and Control (AVC).
You can do some crude controls with QoS - the configuration guide chapter on doing that is here.

  • Problem with modules and ModuleLoader

    Hi everybody,
i'm facing a real funny problem with modules and
    moduleLoader, i hope
it's not (only) my fault anyway...
If i create a normal flex project with fBuilder, i'm able to
    use
modules in a lot of different ways (as mxml, as as in a
    function etc..)...
but if i try to use them in my fds application (created with
    fds
eclipse plugin or as a dataServices project) i can't use
modules. The compile-time error message is
    always the same:
Could not resolve <mx:ModuleLoader> to a component
    implementation
I tried a lot of solutions, paying attention to import all
the classes, to declaration, naming, positioning
etc...but nothing changes, this thing is drivining me
    crazy!!!.
I will appreciate anykind of help.
    TIA

    My Dear FRNDS,
I am very new to ABAP. And I have read the documentation for  function modules but i am not that clear to practice them.So I would be very happy if u people share a little bit of ur experience with me.
Please provide me some examples of all the use cases in function modules and specially exception handling.
Frnds, i am going to work with bapis so i feel practicing function module will give me a edge.
and please tell me after calling a BAPI FM why we have to perform   'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT' and 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_ROLLBACK'.

    BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT
Execute external Commit when using BAPIs
This method executes a COMMIT WORK command. It is required for
transactions developed externally to the R/3 System that change data in
the R/3 System via BAPI calls.
When you call BAPIs in your program that change data in the R/3 System,
afterwards you must call this method to write the changes to the
    database.
    COMMIT WORK
The statement COMMIT WORK completes the current SAP LUW and opens a new one, storing all change requests for the currenta SAP LUW in the process
there are some FM that we use for creating trasaction . for example FM : that use for creating production order . if you execut the FM , the system will not create any data in the system so you need to excute the FM : BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT to commit that creating the production order .
in case of commit work, that is a syntax in abap program . if you use this syntax after you insert ,update or delete table in the sap ,system will do it immediately otherwise the system will do it after execution is complete.
    ROLLBACK WORK.
for confirming or undoing database updates. COMMIT WORK always concludes a database LUW and starts a new one. ROLLBACK WORK always undoes all changes back to the start of the database LUW.

    Raj.
